How to Spend a Big Fat Weekend in Prince Edward Island in Canada | Bon Appétit

"For being such a small island, there’s a surprisingly large craft beer scene in PEI. AndHopyardis where you’ll get a comprehensive taste of it: The 10-beer tap list is reserved for local breweries. The highlight was 2 Crows’ slightly-tart Good Air, a wild saison with buckwheat aged in a giant wooden fermentation vessel called a foeder. Hopyard also has an eclectic selection of hundreds of vinyl records—with everything from Pete Townshend to Mariah Carey—for you to throw on the turntable. Good beers, and good vibes." - ByRachel Karten

Google
Wonderful beer selection with 10 rotating taps of PEI craft brews. Sidewalk patio is pleasant with 8 tables. Inside you can select a vinyl album for them to play. Very cool collection!

Stopped in here and grabbed their cheeseburger, a side salad, and the “Irish Spice Bag”. The atmosphere was jumping, the bartender was super nice, but the food was sooo good. The burger was legit the best I’ve had in quite a while, and the salad was surprisingly good, as well. Will be back soon!

Google
Ciders, seltzers, and local beers on tap and great value food! Definitely one of the best value for flavour in Charlottetown. The music was on vinyl - the bartender was choosing. Amazing.

I always have a good experience at Hopyard. The staff is friendly and laid back, the menu rotates so there's often new food to try. It can be hit or miss, but it generally really is exactly what the menu described. I've gone to trivia here quite a few times and always enjoyed it. I've also been to work functions where we booked the spot out to host us for a staff event. Always well done with a good selection of food. The drink selection is good and the staff can usually recommend something. The only thing I avoid here is the stools at the high tops. They're not comfortable... 😇 Avoid them if you can.

Google
Absolutely delicious food/beers, great atmosphere and very quick and attentive service. If you’re vegetarian this is a must go! One of the first times i’ve gone to a non-vegan restaurant and had lots of options to choose from! We will certainly be returning when the new menu drops to see what other dishes they will create!

We visited Hopyard for a late lunch around 3 pm, and the place was nearly empty, with just one person handling both serving and bartending. Initially, I was concerned that having only one server might result in a long wait, but he quickly took our drink order and followed up with our main course soon after. The food arrived promptly, and the Ultimate Burger I ordered was outstanding—one of the best I've ever had. The burger was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside, topped with a mouthwatering sauce, and served with homestyle fries garnished with green onion and mayo. Impressively, the server noticed that my 8-year-old is a picky eater and wisely served the fries without the green onion and mayo. Overall, the food was excellent, and I highly recommend this place.

Google
Great service and good food with a good diverse beer selection. The menu is a little eclectic but all items we ordered were spot on including brisket grilled cheese and the fried potato salad appetizer. Good collection of vinyl records. Pick one out and they’ll but it in queue to play. Sometimes there’s even live music.

As a duck meat enthusiast who’s tried duck dishes across 25+ countries, I can confidently say that I’ve never had duck this perfectly cooked, rich, and flavorful. I don’t remember the exact name, it was something like poutine but with duck. I seriously hope it’s not just a seasonal item. If you’re a fan of duck, this is a must-try!

Yelp
I enjoyed the food and atmosphere here, as well as the service. The menu changes frequently, at least monthly, so I won't go into details on what we ate beyond saying it was delicious and satisfying. I underestimated serving sizes, and couldn't finish, darn it. They have about 8 beverages on tap, mostly beer, possibly a cider, which will also change frequently. The nights we were in they had a mix of local and Toronto based beer. Everything we tried was delicious. Seating is comfortable and the room is set up to some extent for mingling. A patio out front has room for about 20. You can look thru their record collection, hand your selection to the bar tender and it'll be queued up to play. Fun! Staff were all great, willing to discuss food, beer and life.

Yelp
The Food was just okay. I ordered the fried tomato sandwhich, expecting it to be a unique experience but it was just basic tasting. It didn't pop. It was also served on toasted white bread. My husband ordered the hamburger, which was also served on toasted white bread, which was strange and disappointing.

Sharon L.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the ambiance was fun and funky with vinyl records playing. We had the fried halloumi with mushroom rice, shepherds pie and riblets with Jalapeño Mac and cheese.

Yelp
Friendly server. Beautiful food that looks like it was plated with care. Great tap list includes several beers, a cider and a seltzer. Good music. Fun location perfect for a pre-show meal. Plenty of shops to hit before or after too. Had the fried cauliflower and 10/10 recommend it. Most items on the menu had the purple pickled onions but I am not complaining. Menu had gluten free options with diverse cultural cuisines offered.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Maybe the best pizza I've ever had in a brewery! My wife loved the burger. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We had dinner here upon the recommendation from the guest service agent at our hotel. This is a bar and restaurant with a vinyl section in the middle and back. I didn't realize it then but if you find something you want to listen to the bar will play it on their turntable. It looked like a great place to hangout with your friends. The lighting was dim and loud conversations could be heard throughout the restaurant. Their menu changes every two weeks. It was Burger Lover when we had visited. We ordered the pizza roll and chicken and waffle. The pizza rolls were fun to eat and definitely tasted like pizza. It was too bad that there were only 3 rolls though. The chicken and waffle was different from what we usually have. This was half a waffle with a few pieces of fried chicken on top and a lot of fries on the side. The fries were so tasty but it was just too much for us to finish. The first bite of the chicken was a surprise as it was very salty. The sauce on top helped a bit but the saltiness was just overwhelming.

Yelp
Hop on over Hopyard is very quickly becoming one of my favourite relaxed night scenes to hangout, grab a local brew, and some absolutely delicious food from their ever rotating menu! It is such a cozy hidden gem for food in downtown Charlottetown with one of the most comprehensive craft beer collections on the island (meaning you can get alllll the best ones in ONE place). Amongst the buzz of the front room, the vinyl selection, or maybe the cheers of Wednesday trivia, head chef Alyssa and the team is working magic in the kitchen! The menu is a fashion style and always changing where each menu is themed including options for everyone from veg centric, to meaty goodness, to vegan and GF. International flavours meet comfort food with an energetic twists from the BEST vegan Chana masala fries one could hop for to a mustard Mac & cheese, to the breakfast style poutine or a blueberry grilled cheese! You truly never know what you are gonna get but the tasting menu is fantastic and you will not be disappointed! Chase it all down with a brew (or a few) and enjoy the Hopyard magic! Food, drinks, service, atmosphere is all spot on, 100000% recommend!

Yelp
This place is so much fun! Great beer and food! Must try Poutine fries with dill! Michael is a great host/bartender. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Ambiance - super low key and laid back - love it. Kinda hipster vibe. Service - there was a little hiccup on who does orders but it all got resolved in the end. The staff was super friendly and lovely. Food - we ordered the pierogies to go after getting some beers. The beers were on point. It seems like for the food - the food is rotated so my review of the pierogies may not mean much in a week or month but they were delicious and I'm Eastern European. So that may have some weight. Overall we were tourists there in Charlottetown for a week and this place was usually seen with a lot of people. Check it out. If not for the yummy food but for the rotating beers they have. We got a 4 pack of beers to go and drank them in our hotel.

Yelp
Hopyard opened in 2016 and quickly became a fave spot to hang, even though I'm not a beer drinker. The food was interesting, the atmosphere fun and friendly, Chef Jane Crawford was a visionary, and she would often come out and chat with customers... when they added brunch it was just WOWWW! Since then, they opened a Halifax location in 2018, and Chef Jane relocated with it. She has since moved on. So there was at least one change in chef, but that wasn't the moment it started to slide for me. Yes, the menu still rotates, but now it all tastes the same. Too much mayo, drizzled butter, candied and fried everything... uninspired use of Jalapeno, chili, hot peppers... I suppose it's good drunk people food, and maybe that's the aim, but a little variety would be nice. Something not smothered with sauce until it becomes mush... something fresh tasting. I will add here that I'm a pescatarian, so perhaps the meat dishes are different, but I'm at the point where I never order food. Also, as previously mentioned, I'm not a beer drinker, so maybe I'm missing the pairing of food + beer that makes these menus work. It's also worth noting that it is QUITE A FEAT to have a menu that changes every two weeks -- nowhere else on the Island does this, as far as I know, and I applaud both the initiative and execution - they've kept it up for 6+ years and that's awesome. It's just not food to my taste. Their prices are also incredible, which is a feat, and I suspect key to their success. I think restauranteurs are starting to realize that huge portions are not the only path to the hearts of Charlottetownies. We love small plates and the chance to share a bunch of different dishes! Hopyard remains an awesome place to get together for a drink and hang with great (interactive) music and the widest selection of craft beer on the Island. Finally, PLEASE BRING BACK BRUNCH! I could deal with not liking the rest of the food because the incredibly delicious brunch proved the kitchen was versatile and talented. Come back, culinary energy! The owners are prepping another establishment to open summer 2022 - an Italian resto called "Abbiocco" a few doors down

Yelp
Food was amazing! We loved picking out the vinyl records as well. Waiter was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Easy five star here. The beer was great. The food was great. The dessert was great. I mean, the restaurant scored a hat trick right there. I'd tell you what to get, but they change the menu every two weeks. I don't know how they keep it up. Truly impressive. But, I would recommend that you do what I did...I just told the server to bring me her personal favorite. She brought out some of the best crab cakes I've ever had. Served on a bed of beans. Seemed odd at first, but trust me when I say these cats are professionals. Just go with what they do, as they know what they're doing. The crab cake/bean combo went together like it was always meant to be that way. Fantastic. We went with the blueberry pie dessert and it was awesome as well. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Two thumbs up. Way up.

Yelp
Loved this place. Ate multiple times on our trip to PEI. Menu changes every week and they have both meat and no meat menus. Service was great!

Yelp
I don't do a lot of reviews, but when a place wows me, I owe it to them. I came here based on a recommendation from a local guy. He told me I couldn't miss it. I ordered the IPA the bartender recommended - so good. He was spot on with his recommendation. I ordered the burger with braised pork on it. The burger came with a sauce on the side, fries with a sauce drizzled on them, and scallions sliced on top. The burger was so juicy I didn't even use the extra sauce. Sauce was dripping onto my hand and on the plate, a true flavor explosion. I am certain I looked barbaric devouring this burger. But I have no regrets and I'd do it again. Will be back. Would recommend to a friend. Bonus: they were selling a bunch of vinyl and playing vinyl as well, so there's a very cool vibe in the whole place.

Yelp
Visited the weeks of July 12th and 19th - the server was one of the nicest, most attentive servers we've ever had. Now for the food...Delicious! We ordered seven plates so that we could sample pretty much everything on the menu. Every dish was flavorful and did not disappoint. The earth candy burger? HOLY. Highly recommend! On our second trip, we didn't order as much (although we wish we did!), and again, the food was amazing (new menu). Advice: Order multiple plates - even if you don't know what it is. Cauliflower with a chocolate coating? Sounds gross, but it was really good!

Yelp
Ever evolving and eclectic value menu! Listen to your favourite vinyl or just enjoy the atmosphere.

Yelp
I don't see how this place is considered one of the best restaurants in Charlottetown. We went for lunch and were completely disappointed in the quality of the food. Everything was overcooked and dried out, with too much sauce to drown any natural flavor. They did, however, offer an excellent selection of local beers, and our server was wonderful.

Yelp
What a fun little spot... records on the walls, hanging from the ceiling, & available to spin...great local beer & cider...& an amazing choice of $8 tapas that change every two weeks! We enjoyed our stop into the Hopyard on a recent trip to Charlottetown. The menu was fun...& the food was bursting with flavour! We had the broccoli & the dumplings...just perfectly crafted and delicious! We ate from menu #65 Beer - Food - Vinyl... great combination! Check it out if you are in Charlottetown...& I hear they have a location opening in Halifax soon too!

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant. One of the most interesting menus I have ever seen. Lots of fun and unusual combinations. Great selection of local beers on tap. Super friendly staff. And they are open late! A must try if you are in Charlottetown.

Yelp
This is always a fun place to go. The menu changes regularly. I've never had a meal I didn't like. Staff are polite. It can be a bit noisy plus there isn't much seating. The records are a cool touch. You can buy them or have the staff put one on for all to hear. I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food and drinks and were amazed at the bill: two drinks, 3 plates (Mac n cheese, broccoli bombs and chicken/waffles) - $40! And we were full! Spacious. Clean. Lots of things to look at - the drink menu, the vinyl covers on the walls, the records on the floor, the art. Good music - I didn't read up on what's up with the vinyl but it is on their website. The music played tonight, we enjoyed. A greeter gets you seated - fantastic! Especially, when you are unfamiliar with the place, and when it's quite busy, like tonight, they get you in and seated. Thanks! We liked that the server had all drinks listed on a portable blackboard so you didn't have to strain your neck and eyes looking on the tap wall. 5 Stars: We always enjoy these types of places (Stillwells, Battery Park, etc). The HopYard: best execution IMHO.

Yelp
We came to the Hopyard after a long day of driving from Nova Scotia. With growling stomachs, we knew we needed to find something fast. I spotted the sign for this stop and it immediately intrigued me. It didn't give anything away about what to expect. I just assumed it was a trendy little bar, which it was, but it was the best one I've been in yet. When you walk in, it's a bit open space with lots of tables and booths. The walls are littered with art from a local artist and there is a big collection of vinyls in the middle of the restaurant. If you choose to sit at the bar, you will see a wall painted with chalkboard paint. This is where the taps are, and they tell you what they currently have. It changes every few weeks, so this is a great way to do it. We sat down and ordered some locally brewed beer and cider to kick things off. The menu is fairly small, but there are some great choices to pick from. We both went with the Hip Hop Burger and I can tell you that it was amazing. It came served in a brown paper bag, and was loaded with cheese, lettuce, bacon, and lots of sauces. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. We were told this burger was their entry for Burger Love in Charlottetown, and it was so popular that they kept it on their menu. We paired it with a side of fries to get the most authentic burger meal. We finished off our meal with the Churro Donut served with house made caramel sauce... Oh. Em. Gee. This donut was so good that my eyes literally rolled into the back of my head from sheer delight. I thought I was full after the meal, but we managed to polish off this dessert in no time. If you're in Charlottetown, do yourself a favour and check out Hopyard. I promise you won't be disappointed, and if you are, I will take full blame for leading you astray.

Allison P.

Yelp
Good vegetarian / vegan options. The menu changes every 2 weeks, wish we were here to try another round. I only wish the waitress had clarified our sandwich came with fries because we also ordered a curry fries appetizer and ended up with way too many fries. They were good though! Fast service. Nice atmosphere. We came late afternoon before the evening rush so it was quiet.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Nice selection of beer and a vinyl collection in the middle of the resto. Some small plates as well as full meals.

Yelp
With a menu that changes every two weeks, I would be here at least every two weeks if I lived on PEI. $8 share-size Plate's but they're actually generous portions and everything is amazing. We had 8 items from the menu and all were excellent. As great as the food was, the churo donut dessert stole the show. I honesty can't think of a better donut I've ever had. We'll be back for sure.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Great menu choices. I love that the menu changes every few weeks. Most items are $8 per plate, so we ordered a few different ones to share and the price was reasonable. Really great combinations of flavors, like fried chicken schnitzel on waffles with mustard pickles and potato salad. Tasty There are local (8?) craft beer taps from PEI and NS. The service was attentive and friendly. I'd go again tomorrow.. or next menu change for a new experience.

Yelp
While on vacation we stopped by after friends recommended this as a great place to try out. We visited on a Thursday night at about 5:30-7. The place was full but not on a waiting line, Had a nice selection of provincial brews as well as regionals. Featured an alway rotating Tapas menu. We enjoyed the Pesto Fries and a Chicken sandwich with carmelized onions and Sage Mayo, priscutto, Mozzarella, Lemon-Tomato Butter and Arugula. The Pork Belly Sand was also very good. It was kinda cool to spin a few vinyls as well.

Yelp
Review is for food and atmosphere only― didn't try any beer. Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. The food was delicious and I absolutely love the idea that the menu theme rotates every two weeks. How fun for the chef! Tonight's menu was "The Godfather". We got the Asparagus Fritti, Eggplant Parm Bun, Caprese Meatballs, Calamari Corleone, Calabrian Ribs and the Don Vito. The Calamari Corleone was probably the second best calamari I've eaten. It wasn't too chewy or tough. Although I'd be hard pressed to identify the topping as carrot pesto, the sauce gave it a pop of color. FYI the Arrabiata mayo gives it a kick so stay away if you don't like spicy food. The ribs were on the bone but because they were in small pieces, they were easy to eat with a fork. Very tender. The Caprese Meatballs, a fritter made of breadcrumbs, tomato, lentils, beans and Parmesan, were crisp and tasty. I think the Don Vito, a crispy chicken sandwich, was my favorite. The sandwich was delicious but the sage mayo, mozzarella and lemon & tomato butter make it wonderfully messy. Make sure to eat with friends who you don't mind seeing you lick your fingers because it's futile to resist! For $8, it was the best bang-for-you-buck of the bunch. The Asparagus Fritti and the Eggplant Parm Bun were decent. I only had a bite of each and didn't think they were anything special. My brother and mom enjoyed them though so give it a shot. At $8 a plate, the prices were fair. Compared to some of the other dishes, especially the meat dishes, I thought the asparagus and fritters should've been closer to $5 or $6. The calamari, sandwich and ribs were filling enough for my dad and I to split them so it was a decent value. Good atmosphere, friendly server (he told us what was in the fritters― I didn't expect lentils or beans at all!) and looking at all the records is fun. A little loud but that's to be expected in a bar. If I lived in the area, I would continually check the rotating menu!

Chuck N.

Yelp
Big Broc, Chowdah Poutine, El Jefe Cubano and a couple of beers... all very good. Love the creative menu, very original and delicious. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Went with a group tonight and I was absolutely blown away by the food. I cannot believe that the menu changes every two weeks. Tried a lot of plates that were all fabulous but the shrimp tacos were by far the best thing I tried, might be the best thing I've had this year, yes that good! Here's the sample. Bang Bang Shrimparitto Crispy Shrimp, Bang Bang Sauce, Shredded Iceburg, Habanero Sour Cream, Beetchi Honey Garlic Broccoli Bombs Super Sticky Japanese Soy, Sesame Candy, Wasabi Mayo Pad Thai Fries Hand Cut Russets, Hot Butter, Peanut Brittle, Cilantro, Ginger Mayo, Fresh Scallions Chop Suey Egg Rolls 5 Spice Mayo, Fresh Herbs, Orange Hoisin Dynamite Sweet Fries Togarashi Mayo, Harissa Chili Butter, Smoked Salt Kimchi Fried Rice Double Farm Egg, Ginger Butter, Lots of Scallions, Sesame Sour Cream Mac N Cheese Sweet Chili Cream, Chipotle Catsup, Sesame Wonton Crumb Jackpot Wings Sriracha Dust, Licorice Salt, Basil Chimichuri Ktown Ribs Raspberry Hoisin, Candied Cashews, Lime Stuff Dumpling Poutine Ginger & Chicken Potstickers, Bulgogi Gravy, Spicy Sour Cream, Chili Salt Chinatown Meatball Burger Pork Meatball, Ctown Sauce, Spicy Mustard Mayo, Fresh Cilantro, Crispy Rice Noodles, Kimchi Pad Thai Calamari Thai Sauce, Citrus Mayo, Candied Peanuts, Fresh Scallions, Bean Sprouts General Cod Tacos Crispy Fish, Orange Sesame Butter, Peanut Slaw, Sweet Basil Mayo Churro Donut Cinnamon Salt, Caramel, Extra Love Top that with great beers on tap and your pick of vinyl, I'll be back with bells on.

Yelp
I liked my hazy IPA and really enjoyed our nachos (loaded fried wontons) and chicken curry. And the menu is so tantalizing with so many other delicious items. And the music (all vinyl) was swell!

Yelp
I had the ribs in a bowl on top of a sweet and spicy cole slaw with cashews. A great mix and combination but a little difficult to eat the ribs and a small portion of slaw. But, with the affordable price if you were really hungry you could easily double it. Excellent flavor.

Yelp
My rating is between 3 to 4 stars. The place delivers on atmosphere, suffers a little on service, and gets some of the tapas dishes right. This is my dining experience from a very busy Monday night which, as we learned later, was due to the roll out of a new menu. The restaurant gets credit for rotating their menu every two weeks which means the chef does not get a break. They do it on Mondays, traditionally known as the slowest day for restaurants, to draw more foot traffic. Based on what I observed, they succeeded. Now to elaborate on my above assessment. The place was packed when we arrived at 8PM on a Monday night given the rollout of a new menu. There was not a hostess in sight, which, on a busy night, to out-of-town newcomers, was confusing and mildly annoying. We stood there for at least 10 minutes before we decided to take matters into our own hands by grabbing someone who walked into the bar to pour some drinks. Needless to say, my first impression was not stellar. Once seated, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We even ended up chatting up with her and not only learned about the clientele of the restaurant, but also a little bit about her family. Her warmth and openness was very welcoming. Between the two of us, we ordered five items from the tapas menu: Wild mushroom & Squash paella, Chorizo Scotch eggs, Spanish Fried Chicken Wings, The Big Tasty Burger, and Ribs. Our favorites were the chicken wings and the ribs. They were fried to perfection - crispy, yet not dry, and topped with fantastic sauces. Chorizo Scotch eggs was very good. But do note that the name should be changed to Egg, singular, not plural, as there was only one. The Big Tasty Burger tasted just like a regular burger. Most disappointing was the paella. It lacked flavor and used the wrong type of rice which produced an aroma that overwhelmed all the other ingredients. Our two beers were delightful, a saison and a PEI brew. I do give the restaurant credit for bringing a hip, vibrant, and musical vibe to the area, coupled with a refreshingly creative menu. Perhaps it's because the menu changes every two weeks which makes execution difficult to perfect, but it would redefine this restaurant if it was improved. And oh, a hostess might help as well.

Yelp
We randomly came across this place on our 2 night stay in Charlottetown, I am so glad we did! Their shared plates are just fantastic. We had a fried rice, mac and cheese and the chicken and waffle, everything was so tasty, I didn't want it to end. Service was attentive and my husband loved the craft on tap. Would definitely recommend if you're looking to take a break from seafood!

Yelp
Took an impromptu trip up to PEI and was not disappointed. Thanks to my trusty Yelpers we stumbled upon this gem. The variation of beers went beyond the usual IPAs (I'm a stout and porter girl). Food was inventive, thoughtful, and fun. The menu changes every two weeks, much to my chagrin. I could've eaten Brussel sprout tacos all day. Service was great. Our bartender Kevin was hilarious and fun.

Yelp
Oh LORDY! I'm almost speechless, which is unheard of... I went with a group of what, 45 work colleagues to this cool bar, not knowing what to expect, the first thing I noticed was a big box in the middle of the room full of old vinyls! Linda Ronstadt, Snoop Dog, Frank Sinatra, Motley Crew, Disco Hottest hits, you name it, pick a vinyl you like bring it up to the bar and they'll play it for you! The bar serves food, beer (yummy crafts), and atmosphere. The menu we ordered from was the Hugs from Mom, everything was $8 and it was suggested maybe 2 items would do you or if your main focus was beer maybe one. My first dish was: Kaboom Chicken Nachos and to be honest folks, I think I had a little orgasm after my first bite. Crispy Wontons, HopYard Butter, Kimchi, Water Chestnuts, Candied Cashews, Sweet Wasabi Mayo. HEAVEN Second was OG Tacos Braised Porkbelly, Basil Mayo, Kimchi, Sweet N Sticky, Bean Sprouts, Cilantro, Sesame Love, not quite the same reaction as the nachos but still wonderful. I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and drink, I want to give the bar a shout out, we were a large group, but the service and food was fantastic, food came out fast and my glass was always full. Full compliments to the chef and all the kitchen staff, what tasty tasty food you create. Cheers! PS I apologize for all the exclamation points, but I was really excited!

Yelp
I was very impressed by this place! Being from Colorado, I have grown accustomed to drinking good, local beer. And, this place delivered. They had about 8 taps- 4 being from PEI and the other 4 from around the Maritimes. If you are looking for innovative food from around the world blended together into great dishes, then, look no further. We had a falafel bao bun with kimchi. Yes, mediterranean and korean in one dish! If I had a complaint it would be that it was only a few bites, but that is what the description says. I would highly recommend this place to anyone I knew visiting PEI.

Yelp
Super eclectic menu and lots of beer selection. Cool combinations of flavours that were well executed - like the burrito egg roll, the Mac and cheese with dill and feta, and the wings....oh, the wings! They were sauced with a combination of blue cheese and magic. Hands down best saucy chicken wings I've ever had. Paired with a few different local beers from Upstreet Brewing Company and PEI brewing company....sold, I'd go back again and again. I am told by my friend, a local, that the menu changes about every 2 weeks, and I see that it's already changed since I visited 2 weeks ago. I hear from the locals that regardless of what's on the menu, it's always really good!

Yelp
This place is so cool. Vinyl Records, great beer and awesome location. Didn't try the food didn't think they had much of menus but I was wrong. Great atmosphere.

Yelp
Fantastic rotating taps, selection is good. It is changing all the time (the one you are drinking might be the last one they have of that selection). That means, you could have three IPA out of 9 taps a night and four blonde beer on another night, that's part of the fun. The food is mostly asian fusion and they are just amazing. Jane certainty knows what she is doing. It's always 14 items on the menu, half vegetarian, half meats. It changes every few weeks too. Simply a fantastic experience.

Yelp
Pretty cool atmosphere to go and have a few refreshing local beers with a group of friends and share some awesome gourmet sharing plates. We stopped in for lunch and has 4 sharing plates. The fries were dressed in a delicious sauce. The beet fries were also pretty amazing. Overall very creative flavours and we would definitely go back if we had the chance. Have your favorite song ready to select from all their classic records to play while enjoying the fun atmosphere.

Yelp
You walk in here and immediately notice the old school music and vinyl records in the middle. We chose a booth and the hip hop burger which the server said he gets once a week cause it's so good. This place is extremely hipster friendly. Prices are rather reasonable and my dinner came in a paper bag. The burger was delicious but I am not a fan of those overflowing with sauce burgers so, I wouldn't order it again which is fine because they change the menu all the time. But here's the thing. The churro donut. Omg the churro donut. Perfect fresh, not too cakey, with a home made caramel sauce. Not perfect for sharing because it's just sooo good. Every bite made me want to savour the next bite. Yummy. So overall four stars because the atmosphere was new and exciting with local artist paintings all over the walls and a changing menu and the classic music where you can choose a vinyl record to play when you come in and the churro donut. Those are my reasons and I stand by them and I will be back. Great work guys.

Yelp
It's a real treat to eat at Hopyard! Great food and service! I like that the menu changes so that one can try new things.

Yelp
Put this restaurant in downtown Toronto and you'd have to reserve 3 weeks in advance and bribe the host. Thankfully it's in Charlottetown. Exceptional service, even better food. If you don't eat here, it's your loss.

Yelp
You honestly can't go wrong eating at HopYard. It pleases both meat eaters and veg-heads alike, which is amazing when going out for a bite with friends. Their menu changes every two weeks, but you will always find something for your taste. Their Earth Candy burger has been incredible in all the renditions we have tried, and for $8 an item, you can load up your table with delicious food!

Yelp
Literally my favourite place ever. Everything is 8$ except the special, so for my broke university student self it's perfect. The atmosphere is phenomenal. I am not yet 19 but I still feel welcome in the place. They also have an extensive collection of vinyl from which you can choose something to your taste! They'll play whatever you choose. The staff are so great too, always friendly and helpful. I can't speak for the beer myself but I've heard nothing but raves from my legal friends. And of course the food is to die for. I come here once a week!

Yelp
Good spot for small plates and beer. Of the little we tasted it was quite good. Food items seemed to have a Korean theme for when we went. Prices are very fair and unfortunately they had run out of the main food items we wanted but we still enjoyed ourselves. The option to select some vinyl for a spin in the bar is fun too.

Yelp
Such an awesome place in Charlottetown! They had great food options that were all so different and for a great price of only $8. Their food and beer menu is always changing so it never gets old. We had gotten the fried hot dog, loaded fries and chicken tostadas all 3 were amazing. Definitely go for a dinner and drinks! Great service and atmosphere as well.

Yelp
Traveling for work and could not have been happier to have landed on this gem. Constantly changing menu (beer and food) AND customer-picked vinyl music!! Whaaaaaa?!? I know. I was pleasantly surprised too. I was walking the area looking at Yelp for highly rated restaurants and saw this place across the street... only 3 reviews but looked so fun. I'll bite. Before I get into the deliciousness.. let's talk staff. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted, quickly provided a menu and while reviewing it... another bartender came over to ask what sorts of beers I like, provided a sample and I was SOLD! Best IPA I have had (I don't know if it's worth noting the specifics because it is always changing but vicar's cross DIPA for those that care). Food... also took the recommendation on a slaw and dumplings (wanted greens and meat). Here's where it gets interesting... A good runner/server came to deliver the food to the bartender. I heard "slaw something something" that looked like dumplings. I attempt to help the delivery by saying, "I think that's mine!" I dive into the food, both DELICIOUS. Again... I don't know if it's worth getting into specifics because it changes. Well... 5 min later, my ACTUAL order comes out, slaw and dumplings. I had been eating slaw and tofu something or another and was SHOCKED. I NEVER order tofu because the few times I have had it -I hated it... what a sorry excuse for meat (I thought). I literally thought this was chicken. Holy crap. So good!! It has inspired me to start telling more food runners that ALL food is my food. This is the longest review ever and I rarely review on Yelp but heavily depend on other Yelp reviews. I can't recommend this place enough.
