HORAPA

"A short trip to Thailand and a serendipitous encounter with a local cookbook changed the course of his life and set Son Seung-hee on the path to chefdom. Enamored with the world of Thai cuisine, he has since poured his passion into mastering it, and his culinary dedication has found its culmination in Horapa’s fare. The vibrant flavors of spices and herbs amid the wafting aroma of charcoal – this street vibe in Thailand, and the street foods he savored, serve as continued inspiration for the eatery’s exotic and exclusive dishes. Chef Son seeks to remain true to the heart and soul of Thai cuisine while maintaining unmistakable originality in his fare by capitalizing on locally produced fine seasonal ingredients. This culinary philosophy leaves us awaiting Korea’s novel take on Thai cuisine." - Michelin Inspector

Unexpectedly amazing Thai in Seoul. We stumbled upon this restaurant and glad we did. Had the mushrooms, eggplant, and veggie curry. Crepe for dessert. Love to see a veg-focused menu in a sea of BBQ restaurants. Menu is best shared. They were out of the chicken curry, but I'm sure it would have been great, too. It's located on 2F.

One of the best places I eat in Seoul!! What is obvious, is that guys in Horapa found inspiration in their trips through Thailand, Laos, probably Cambodia... They raised traditional Thai food on a unique level based on available ingredients on local markets which are placed in their neighborhoods, I tasted fantastic pork ears soft smokey tender, with fantastic sweet, sour sauce, Juicy chicken grilled served with fresh cucumber relish, and I can't eat in Thai restaurant without Tom yum soup, which they are preparing with squids. Service is fantastic friendly and kind, what I noted is, that this is a group of young people probably friends from earliest days... In one word a great place!!💪💪

Recommended by a fine dining chef in Bangkok, so I had high expectations about this place. And this place was amazing. All the dishes reminded me of the nice culinary experience I had in Bangkok. My favorites are phanaeng beef curry (파냉느어) and 카이 룩 커이, but other dishes were amazing too! If you wanna try some fine Thai food elevated to another level instead of the usual pad thai, then I highly recommend this place. Make sure to make a reservation!

What a wonderful experience! We arrived for lunch, but there were no available tables. Thankfully, there was a dinner slot, so we decided to wait — and we’re so glad we did. It gave us time to explore this beautiful part of Seoul, and the hours flew by. The wait was absolutely worth it. Chef Son Seung-hee welcomed us warmly and thoughtfully guided us through the menu, suggesting several standout dishes — each one flawless. The textures, the flavours... simply exceptional. From the crispy fried eggplant dusted with rice powder, to the curry-marinated chicken BBQ, and the unforgettable soya ice cream with a banana-based dessert — every bite was a delight. Unbeatable. We will miss you so much in Berlin. Thank you so much for everything.

Why this place is not booked months in advance I don’t know.. the food, wine, and service is fantastic. Glad they had a small menu so we were able to try everything and it was all incredible. The cooks prepare everything right in front of you and can explain each dish in English and Korean (much appreciated as an American). A friend who lives in Seoul took us here and glad she did… what a gem of a restaurant off the beaten tourist path!!! Will dream about the papaya salad with peach and pear for years.

As the other reviews suggest, I’m very surprised this restaurant doesn’t have a line out the door. My main dish and dessert were very balanced with both incredible flavors and textures. On top of this, the service was excellent. When I arrived, the restaurant was fully booked. Despite this, they were kindly able to accommodate me. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem if you come to visit Seoul.
