Rich Landau Cooks Vegan Food for Meat Lovers at Wiz Kid | Eater Philly

"When chef Rich Landau opened the meat-free, dairy-free Horizons Café on April 21, 1994 in Willow Grove, he deliberately avoided the word “vegan,” preferring to present simply good food that happened to have no meat; the restaurant later relocated from Willow Grove to South Philly in 2006 and served as the early foundation for his career and approach to plant-based cooking." - Rachel Vigoda

Just grabbed a quick breakfast from this establishment, and I was blown away! The quality and the quantity for the price is a STEAL. It is a small cafeteria style cafe in a large business building, but don’t let the atmosphere fool you. This place is a gem. The chef, Malcolm, was too cool. He was very welcoming and friendly. He had a great attitude and the man gets down on the grill/griddle. I ordered a build your own breakfast burrito, with bacon and jalapeños, and it was hands down one the best I’ve ever had. The tortilla was even grill to delicious texture. If and when we’re back in Anchorage, we’ll definitely be back. Thank you again, Malcolm!

I got here about once a week for the breakfast burrito. You absolutely get your money's worth here. The burrito is absolutely massive and usually can be lunch too. Fresh ingredients cooked in front of you. The burrito is simple but tastes great. Kind fast service.

The food is awesome, but the people working their are just as great. Great prices for great portions, and they never miss. The cook Malcolm is such a vibe, he never gets it wrong🫶🏽

This place is awesome! They have modest prices and generous portions. The cook, Malcolm, is the BEST! Fast & friendly! He is as important as the food. I drive across town - whenever I can - just to start my day off great! The breakfast burrito ($6) is my "go to" favorite but I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you order.

Breakfast is generally pretty good here. Fair portions for a good price. There is a small menu but they will customize to your requests. Oddly, even though the omelets come with hash browns you have to say you want the, otherwise you don't get them. For lunch there is a sandwich bar that you stand in line in kind of like subway. The hot line has the burgers and hot sandwiches along with the fried food. You can upgrade to sweet potato fries or onion rings which are both good. Don't bother with a burger here. The patties are premade and small. Further down the hot line there are daily specials which can be give and take. Every time I get chicken it's dry but other things have been great. The salad bar in the center is pretty good. The staff does a good job keeping up with refilling the toppings. So I gave this place three stars because it is average, not bad.

Best healthy meal / price ratio in downtown Anchorage. Food is almost always above 8 out of 10 and the prices cannot be beat within 5 miles. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection is varied. A favorite lunchtime joint of downtown workers. ***UPDATE 07/20/22: Prices have gone up $2-4 on everything, but so has the entire world. Still a great value for downtown. Only thing I would shy away from is breakfast. Powdered eggs leave you sad.***

Smaller menu... primarily salads, soup, sandwiches and burgers, but it is tasty and enjoyable food at a decent price point. Located inside the ConocoPhillips Building, so some informal dining space is available in the rather large lobby area.

This is a little cafe in the bottom of an office building but I had a nice little breakfast sandwich and a yummy Americano. People working here were super nice. This is a great spot if you just need to grab a quick meal.

Yelp
Wow, who knew there was a cheap, cafeteria-style eatery in the Conoco Phillips building open to the public? If you want to get a massive breakfast burrito in 2 minutes flat for $8.50, this is the spot! The payment setup is bizarre though, it's literally self-check-out. I would challenge you to explore the public area in the lobby though. You will see all the wonders that oil can build, and all of the local artists that sold-out for oil money. Take advantage of the beautiful booths and seating, it's like a luxury hotel!

Yelp
I was looking for a quick breakfast. This place is awesome. I got a sausage breakfast burrito with Eggs, potatoes, sausage. It was tasty and fast. Not bad for $8.50. No tourists here!!! It's on the ground floor of the Conoco building. Tables in the lobby. There is a coffee shop next door. Order coffee first. There is a line there. I waited 15 minutes and ended up leaving because it was taking forever.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito is the best in town. Never a long wait - even if there's a line. The fellow who makes the food is lovely!

Yelp
Good food, reasonable price, friendly staff. Beats the heck out of an overpriced hotel breakfast.

Yelp
Outstanding service and friendly staff. The food is top grade. Love the atmosphere despite the "pandemic" scare.

Yelp
For those that work downtown, there is a general cafeteria in the main floor of the Conoco Phillips building that is open to the (working) public for breakfast and lunch. Decently priced, there is a sandwich and salad bar, a grill, and some general grab-and-go items. The folks that work there are friendly, and its an option to get away from tourists during the summer months. I had a look at one of their signs, otherwise I wouldn't have known what this place was named.

Yelp
This is a really good cafe/cafeteria to stop by for breakfast or lunch. They have a salad bar and a specialty salad bar, sandwich area that also serves up wraps and panini, a grill with everything from a veggie burger to a philly or rueben and a special of the day area. The breakfast is served up until 10am and then they reopen at 11 for the lunch crowd. The thing you need to know is that you can modify all these meals to your needs. I get a veggie breakfast burrito in the morning and it's not on the menu. The prices are general for the area, and if you pick up a coffee it's fairly decent not folgers etc. The parking is all street, which can be the hard part but there is plenty of seating in the lobby area.

Sally J.

Yelp
I love coming here! I always leave here in a good mood! The food is great and the salad bar rocks! Also, the prices are very affordable compared to most downtown places to eat.
