Horn of Africa

I’ve sooo missed my favorite East African restaurant! For many years our family has eaten at Horn of Africa restaurant and miss the wonderful lunch buffet. We are pleased they have returned to the community and are serving their wonderful injera and tasty plant based selections. If you have ever tried their lemon chicken you’ll be back again for more. While I don’t eat meat anymore, I highly recommend their lemon chicken with injera!

We found out about this gem through the Portland Saturday market. They have a food cart there. THE food is amazing. Lot's of spices and a fun new cusine to try. They offer a lunch buffet with meat and vegetarian options. We love their sambusas. They have been around for more than a decade in the MLK area. FRIENDLY staff! We came during their lunch buffet.

What a great place to have a party and eat a fresh well done meal. The environment is exquisite, the service was kind. So many different options to choose from. The goat over saffron rice and vegetables accompanied with warm flat bread or Injera is excellent. Choice

The food and the people who own it are absolutely incredible! The goat brought tears to my eyes with how good it was. Went in there and ordered a variety of entrees and small plates and everything was exceptional. If you want quality through and through- come here for a quick meal or if you need catering!!!

One of a kind gem. They have an awesome lunch buffet with wide variety of both vegetarian and meat dishes, hibiscus tea, injera, cardamom rice, and it's worth mentioning the fresh-cooked cinnamon spiced donut holes for a sweet bite to end your meal with. Friendly and personal service. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was clean and had a nice theme. The food was good. What I didn't like was the gratuity up front. The server told me they would be charging 20% as gratuity because I was using a gift certificate. We had appetizers and three entrees and when we asked for more bread and rice we got charged extra for them. Lunch for 3 people cost a bit over $50. Not happy.

Delicious!!! Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and tasted amazing!! I'm literally stuffed from all of the food I just ate- and I'm already planning when my next visit/or to-go order will be! So excited to try more dishes next time! And I'm telling all my friends to try this place!!! We ordered the butter chicken, red lentils, curumba veggies, injeera bread, veggie sambusas, and fried plantains! Yum yum yummmm!
