The 17 Best Restaurants In Santa Fe - Santa Fe - The Infatuation

"Make plans at Horno for a fun group dinner downtown near Santa Fe Plaza. The simple dining rooms buzz with chatty groups passing around plates of pork belly tostadas, squid ink fettuccine, and the chocolate tahini torte. Go for the meatball swaddled by melty mozzarella and the zesty pollo mattone served on a creamy bed of polenta. The crowd often spills out onto their patio, a place perfect for some wine and people-watching. Horno is popular pick so you may encounter a wait, but you can kill time by walking around the plaza with a Frito Pie snack from Five and Dime." - nina katz

The 12 Best Restaurants in Santa Fe

"Before the James Beard Foundation gave him a hat tip as a Best Chef Southwest semi-finalist in 2023, chef and co-owner David Sellers won Santa Feans over with his weekly fried chicken dinners. Sellers opened Horno in 2021 spending a decade behind the wheel of the non-profit Street Food Institute, which he founded to teach budding culinary entrepreneurs the food truck biz. These street influences—along with Sellers’ decades at fine-dining restaurants—guide Horno where the food is sophisticated but without pretense. A block north of the Santa Fe Plaza, the intimate bistro (reservations are a must) overflows onto the sidewalk where diners tuck into small plates of miso roasted seasonal vegetables or Korean barbecue pork belly, and main dishes like squid ink capellini. Keep dessert simple with the seasonal pop tart; previous flavors have included a obsession-worthy apple with cardamom frosting, caramel sauce, and vanilla semi freddo." - Ashley M. Biggers

Fantastic restaurant in downtown Santa Fe! Wonderful local chef and family proving a top-notch dining experience. Food is delicious with lovely presentation. Great wine list and fabulous cocktail menu as well. We enjoyed a seasonal heirloom salad along with focaccia, lobster & scallop cannelloni, a roasted chicken and lemon cake. A true delight! Don’t miss this gem in Santa Fe.

Category: Fine Food. Both visitors and locals love this restaurant, no matter what it is. We dined there for many years in its prior incarnation as an Italian restaurant. Since Covid, it has been Horno and the owners are doing a great job serving what they call fine food, not fine dining. In fact, I adopted Fine Food as a review category after having a conversation with one of the owners a couple of years ago. The space is simple, off-white walls with hints of Santa Fe architectural elements, beamed ceiling in one of the two dining rooms, a few pieces of well-placed original art, and a short wall-facing bar. The design is pulled together by a hardwood plank floor that has seen many boots over many years. If you read my reviews, you know I spend as much -- if not more -- time describing restaurants' atmosphere as I do discussing the food. That's because I won't dine anywhere that I don't feel good. I feel good here. The owners call this place a gastropub. I think the food and the atmosphere are a bit finer than that, but I agree that it is a comfortable place. The wine list has enough under-$60 bottles to make us happy, and one bottle under $40, which makes us really happy. The menu is an eclectic mix of dishes, from a burger that once won Santa Fe's famous annual Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown, to a couple of Italian-sih dishes, to Bouillabaisse (for 2), to a couple of Asian-ish dishes. On our most recent visit, we sat at the bar, as we often do, and really enjoyed the Korean BBQ Beef Short Ribs and the Dumplings. Although the latter were vegetarian, we added shrimp. But the highlight of this dish was the really delicious lemon grass, coconut, kaffir lime broth. It was so good we took the remaining broth home even though we had eaten all the goodies in it. If you are looking for al fresco dining, there is a line of covered tables on either side of the entrance and sidewalk umbrellaed tables added during Covid that seem to have become permanent. All dog friendly. We have also attended rent-out-the-restaurant parties at Horno, where they do a great job with passed appetizers, food stations, and bringing you a glass of wine even though you moved since ordering it. Came to Horno last year for dinner and had to come back on our last night just to get the pop tart. SO delicious! Located near fun shops, great atmosphere, tasty food. My only qualm from last year is that the portions for the price didn't quite add up. Would return for sure!

Had dinner there tonight - absolutely superb. Greeted at the door with a smile and seated on time. Our waitress was a lovely and informed young lady. Drinks to start were great. Too many great things on the menu so my wife and I split a few appetizers and one entree. The octopus app was mind-blowing -- a sushi like presentation- the octopus was charred and amazing over incredible sticky rice and the wasabi whip with it was so good. Tuna tartare out of this world - crunch y exterior with an amazing inside. Split the grilled bone-in pork chop- wow. Cooked perfect and so tasty. Prices are fair - and at the end of the meal the chef and owner came out and chatted with us for a few - very nice and interesting gent. Can't recommend Horno enough - go and you will love the whole experience.

Hubby wanted to try something different from Mexican food for dinner. So we decided to try this highly-rated local restaurant. The friendly hostess was very welcoming & sat us despite us not having a reservation but we were given 1hr 15mins since they have a reservation for that table at 7:45pm. I thought it was so sweet of them instead of just chasing us away but informed us ahead of time so we’re aware. The restaurant has a very relaxing classy ambiance. It seems very popular among both locals & tourists, but we stood out as the only Asians there. We ordered hanger steak and squid ink pasta. The hanger steak was so tender, juicy and well flavored. The cognac sauce was amazing, perfectly paired with the steak. I love the colorful presentation of the squid ink pasta but it was so sour! I think the chef went too heavy on the lemon sauce! ☹️ Our waitress (a tall lady with black frame glasses) was friendly at first contact but we realized she was pretty discriminating towards us throughout the night. She never introduced today’s specials, she never refilled our water, she never came to our table to check on us, like she did with other tables! She’ll walk past our tables several times but only focus on other tables around us but ignored us. Never felt so neglected! Even when we were ready to get the check, we waved many times but she never looked our way! We had to get the bus-boy to go get our waitress for us! I was ready to try their dessert, but she never asked if we were interested to order dessert after we finished our meal. She just handed an our check. I didn’t like that my pasta tasted so sour with overdosed of lemon. I sat there waiting for her to come by but she never did. I had to wave down our waitress several times. When she finally came by, I told her about the pasta and all she said was “that’s weird!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ I didn’t know how to respond to her comment. So I asked if I can get more cognac sauce so I can eat my pasta with the sauce since she didn’t offer to make a new one or allow me to order something else. I was very surprised at such a bad service for such an high-end restaurant! We have dined at many high-end restaurants but never been treated this way before!

Great bar, great food, great service. Sat at the bar on a busy mid-week night. Impressed with the bar tender's cocktails and extensive wine knowledge. All the food was freshly prepared and tasty. The ramen got raves from my wife who lived in Japan for 15 years. The freshly made pop tart reminded me of my grandmother's pies. Yummy.

We have been eating at this restaurant for over a year now, and have had great experiences, however tonight was not one of them. I made a reservation for 4 and had invited friends from Virginia to come eat with us. Our waitress was not very personable and did not tell us the dish that we came for was not available, we were then told the dish was changed to something else which we tried and was not very good. The owner asked us to be honest at which time we were and she was not very receptive to our critique of the service and the new pasta dish that replaced the one we wanted. I was very surprised that she told our guest they could choose not to come there if they didn't like what was on the menu. We are very shocked that she spoke to them in that manner. Attitude and service is everything in the restaurant industry and our waitress did not even ask us if there was anything she could do after telling her the dish wasn't good or offered to make something else instead. She just brought our check and put it on the table and walked away. It would serve them well to train the staff to be more professional , in most upscale restaurants they will tell you about off menu items and any that aren't available or no longer on the menu. After all this no apology was offered. It would be very hard for us to recommend this restaurant after how we were treated.

Came here with a group of 16 people and we got a private table in the main room. Good: - Overall the variety of food was really good and the meatball appetizer was super good it came with really grilled bread and a really tasty sauce. - The vegetable dumplings had a really savory and sweet sauce that I enjoyed greatly - The main dish was great but not my favorite compared to the appetizers and the other things that they offered since it was a lot of steak and some of it just was super dry. Bad: - The place was pretty simple, nothing too fancy even in the main living room - I found the cocktails to be a little too sweet - The creme brulee was too sweet for me I took two bites then gave up Overall this was a good experience I liked how much food we got and I was stuffed by the end of the meal.

Yelp
A visit to Santa Fe should probably include a delicious meal at Horno Restaurant on West Marcy St. I went there because of the amazing reviews and my dinner did not disappoint. I found myself dining alone since my travel companion took ill. I called up to make a reservation on a busy Friday night. The friendly owner found me a seat at the bar. It may have arguably been one of the best seats in the house. The bar and kitchen were bustling. They were fun to watch. The restaurant has a pretty, clean and modern decor. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. I ordered the Pollo Mattone. It's a half chicken prepared to perfection with polenta, mushrooms and broccolini. It was enormous, too, for a petite person like me. As I was resting to see if I could find room for a salad, the bar staff convinced me to try dessert. I had the Banana Parfait. It was awesome. I almost finished it. The drinks looked great. Since I walked over from the hotel and was traveling alone, I opted to go with a Hibiscus Spritzer mock tail which was wonderful and refreshing. No regrets. I texted photos of my meal to family. They want to join me on my next gastronomic adventure through Santa Fe. Thanks Horno for a most memorable dining experience.

Yelp
What a wonderful gem we found at the last minute! We skipped an event due to the crowd being too loud and me wanting way better food. So on the fly, my husband finds the place and we waited forever for the uber driver but it was worthwhile. The food was on point, the service was excellent and the ambiance is perfect. It's a beautiful space without a bunch of unnecessary decor or noise. We enjoyed everything we tried. The special that night was grouper and we were just wowed with it. If you're in SF and up for fine dining without all the hassle....you have found an amazing place!

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant for the locals - which means great food, quieter restaurant in terms of noise level and exceptional food. We had focaccia which was served a goat cheese and excellent olive oil. V well done w slight spicy bite. All five of us had great meals. Octopus, black grouper as fish of the day, pork chop and fettuccine w squid and squid ink. All had interesting sides. My pork chop came w farro and vegetables that were v filling. Service was great and no fuss w separate checks. We never felt rushed and the food was well timed. A great night out.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner there for my birthday and absolutely loved it. We sat outside and ordered a few vegan dishes. The golden beet salad with dill vinaigrette, pumpkin granola and tofu feta was delicious. The tofu feta was crumbled small and delicious, the beets and pumpkin granola were yummy and the whole salad was fresh and delicious. The warm bread with olive oil and balsamic dip was another favorite. We also got the dumplings in coconut broth (similar to Thai tom kha). I liked the broth more than the dumplings. We LOVED the vegan dessert: a chocolate tart with almond based caramel and aquafaba meringues on the side. The crust wasn't our favorite part but we loved the dessert regardless. The ambiance was nice and relaxing and the service was great. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
This restaurant was unimpressive. We ordered many things on the menu and overall just were not impressed. The sangria had little wine and flavor. We got the Horno Focaccia with the whipped goat cheese, smoked chicken wings, grilled pork belly tostadas for starters. The whipped goats cheese was delicious but the bread seemed over toasted. The chicken wing flavor wasn't exciting. It tasted like it was just missing another part to the flavor. I enjoyed the tostadas. For the entree I got Leo's smack down burger and my husband got the grilled hanger steak. My burger was fine but wasn't very flavorful. The hanger steak seemed over cooked and again not flavorful. The service was meh. Our server helped us but seemed annoyed at us at times. She may have just been having a bad night but hard to experience as the customer.

Yelp
It's always a pleasant surprise to visit a restaurant and find that every item you order is consistently delicious (not just the signature or trendy ones). We came here for a nice dinner one night and really enjoyed everything! I was especially impressed by the pork chop, as pork chops are frequently over cooked in my experience, but the one we had here was cooked perfectly and well balanced in seasoning. Street parking can be a bit tricky on a weekend but worth the trouble. Definitely plan to return for small group dinners in the future. Recommend: Grilled Teriyaki Octopus, Grilled Pork Chop, Hanger Steak, Miso Roasted Vegetables, White Sands Negroni
google avatar

Maggie L.

Yelp
Second visit. We're so excited to try the octopus. Unfortunately it was a little charred and overcooked. Quite chewy. Pork chop was good. Though I didn't actually have it. My husband said it was. Our server, Sawyer, was an absolute delight. Could not have been more helpful.

Yelp
This was my favorite meal while I was in Santa Fe for a conference. And I had a lot of great meals. It was pretty busy so we were able to get seated at a bar top to get dinner going. The drink was tasty but it did a minute for it to get there. I had the hanger steak and it was incredible, perfectly tender and flavorful. I also enjoyed the sides. My coworker ordered the pork chop and she would recommend it as well.

Yelp
I love Santa Fe and I love this restaurant. This was my second time dining here. I had the Caesar salad, focaccia and the hangar steak. Be sure to order the tapenade to go with the focaccia! My server Lee was friendly, prompt and courteous. I never saw the bottom of my water glass and I drink a lot! The vibe in the restaurant is chill but upbeat. Horno will be a regular stop whenever we come to Santa Fe.

Yelp
First let me start off by saying that the food here is amazing! We started off with the miso vegetables, which my boyfriend and I split and I'm regretting having split them with him because they were so good. I legit debated putting in a second order lol. The veggies that come in this dish are zucchini, eggplant, and mushrooms and it's topped off with mint, basil, and a piñon vinaigrette. I don't even like mushrooms but they were super delish in this dish. We wanted to order a light dinner so we went with salads and all of their salads sounded amazing, it was hard to choose. I went with the roasted beet salad because the dill vinaigrette and tofu feta sounded really good...and it was! The salad was fresh and had an amazing flavor. I wish though, for $13, the portion was slightly larger. All in all though, it was a delicious fresh salad and I would order it again. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was packed and they were on a wait, which is usually a really good sign! They were able to, however, sit us at this little counter by the host stand that I guess it part of the bar. The bartender was responsible for serving us and she forgot about us on numerous occasions. When it came time to cash out, we waited over 20 minutes just for the check to come. This would have been a total 5 star dining experience if the service wasn't mediocre. The lack of service shouldn't deter you from this place though because the food is SO GOOD. Next time I'm in Santa Fe, I will be back here!
google avatar

William K.

Yelp
One of the best dinners we had in Santa Fe. A fusion of Santa Fe (chili) and Europe (focaccia, fettuccine scallops, sea bass). Great service, upscale and unpretentious. Quiet street, quaint outdoor seating.
google avatar

Jenny W.

Yelp
What a surprise gem! If you want to change it up after eating Southwestern or Mexican food for every meal (like a good Santa Fe tourist), come to Horno for a breath of fresh air. They describe themselves as a gastropub but it feels more elevated than that. The menu has a lot of global influences, and the dishes are quite creative without being too fussy. Smoked chicken wings were solid, while the miso roasted veggies were unfortunately too salty and a bit of a miss. The roasted beet salad was nice and flavorful. The dumplings had an incredible coconut kaffir broth that was the real star of the dish, not the dumplings. The grilled duroc pork chop was juicy and I found myself really enjoying the spaetzle that it was paired with.

Yelp
We were looking forward to our dinner here. We ordered drinks and an appetizer to start with and were told that "the kitchen prefers that all courses be ordered at the same time." I often don't know what I want for the entree until I've had the appetizer. We were hoping to relax over a drink and appetizer before we ordered dinner, but no-- so we left.
google avatar

T R.

Yelp
This was a very meh experience. Our server set an odd tone by immediately announcing "the chef requests you order everything at once so he can pace the courses for you," (meaning, our objective is to turn these tables as fast as possible). This is always a problematic suggestion when you have no idea how substantial the salads or other starters might be. Plus, who wants to plan their dessert right after sitting down? I asked if there was a particularly popular dish or if she had a favorite and got "every item is amazing." No recommendations. Hurry up and order. Got it. Our group of four politely ordered only some starters anyway, and our server seemed to resent this the rest of the night. When we did order our mains, she warned us that "the steak and the chicken might take 35 minutes." She was clearly eager to detail the consequences of not ordering every item upfront. Then, strangely, the steak emerged about 95 seconds after we ordered it. It was somehow burnt and raw and cold at the same time. The chicken entrée could be titled "burnt carcass in brown sludge," because that's what it was. My wife's cocktail was just...dumb, consisting of red wine floated over some childishly sweet fruit liquid, inexplicably with a salt rim that came in a giant glass. My entrée of "Thai dumplings" were indeed dumplings, floating in a tepid bath of canned coconut milk largely untouched by any other spices or ingredients. I guess I should've called on my way to the restaurant to order my glass of Sauvignon Blanc, since this did take about 25 minutes to make it to the table. I assumed we had the worst server but I overheard someone at a nearby table request a Manhattan from their full bar. Their server told them "we only make what we make, but I'll try to get you in Manhattan." When you look at the menu overall you'll see nothing really unifies any of the dishes. It's a bit of an ad hoc mess that doesn't work at a concept level. This location has the advantage of a steady stream of tourists who support the place by showing up once and never again. I'm a bit baffled by the number of good reviews. There must be a fair share of inexperienced diners who were maybe charmed by the atmosphere, which looks nice with local art on the walls.

Yelp
I loved Horno!! First of all, the food was so delicious and we ordered a lot so we could try different things. I got the meatball and cannelloni as my meal and my husband got the pork chop. But we also ordered the focaccia plate, the chicken wings and the dumplings. Everything was so delicious and I can't wait to go back! The setting is casual fine dining and it's is a comfortable space with ample space between tables and quiet atmosphere. The service is amazing, very attentive without being overbearing. Prices seem very reasonable and definitely worth it for the quality of food and preparation. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Very attentive, intimate setting. Horno is an experience in taste. It hits all the right notes. Fabulous wine selections. Great selections on the menu. We tried several dishes, large and small and barely crossed $100. For the number of items we had for a fine dining experience that meal was a huge value. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable about the menu and you will never need to look for them. Everything was a tasty treat.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Horno's food is always fabulous as is the service. Sending a special shout out to Shannon who attentively addressed my food allergies with the chef, and many, many thanks to the chef for altering a dish for me. As a pescatarian, I always get the fish of the day, and always savor every bite!

Yelp
Horno has been on my radar for a while; several of my friends had been and really loved it. So finally made it in Everything was amazing. We shared several small plates; Tuna Tartare, Agua Chile, Teriyaki Glazed Octopus and the Smoked Chicken Wings; all very flavor and delicious. 3 different friend told me to try the wing; not something I'd usually try but glad i did. We then shared the Fried Chicken ( chef's recommendation) and the Panzanella salad. Both great; not really a large wine list but it was diverse and interesting. Service had friendly and professional. I give Horno my Top Recommendation

Yelp
Now I get to shatter my personal Yelp procrastination record by another few weeks, now writing in late March about a restaurant experience last October. Our dinner at Horno was a bit like that most exciting play in baseball, the inside-the-park home run, but with a face-plant and tag-out a few fee short of home plate. Or a mad 99-yard football multi-lateral scramble-and-dash with the ball fumbled out of the end zone from the opponent's one-yard-line. Pick the most dazzling play in your favorite sport, but imagine it ending in futility. So, at Horno, each successive course (the wife and I shared everything) was building up to what might have been the best meal at the end of a nine-day trip, and that's really saying something because we'd had plenty of excellent food during our stay in New Mexico. We started with the foccacia with garlic-and-herbs olive oil and added the whipped goat cheese and the olive tapenade. Terrific. We next had a beet salad that was in the upper echelon of those items; regrettably, I can't remember the autumnal ingredients of that one aside from the beets. Then we had an aguachile (with fluke, I think) and a maccheroni a al chitarra. Those didn't actually pair up too well--that was sort of our fault, because we evidently didn't read the menu carefully enough--but each was individually superb. (Fresh, bright, cool flavors with the aguachile, and explosive, tomato-ey, garlicy flavor with the pasta.) And both came in remarkably large portions. Beautiful dining experience up to that point. Then came the pratfall. For years and years we've almost always adhered to the rule of thumb about not ordering chicken in higher-end restaurants. We should have stuck to that guideline, because the Pollo Mattone on this evening was left en el horno *way* too long. Attractive and massive dish with capers, veggies, lots of lemon. But that chicken was badly overcooked, and the dish was overly oily, too. (We'd have sent it back, but we had an early getaway the next morning and needed to pack, etc.) Anyway, a regrettable conclusion to an otherwise great dinner. Generally Horno offers excellent food in large portions at reasonable prices. Our experienced server (probably in her '50s like us) was skilled at pacing everything and very pleasant all evening. And Horno's space is attractive if simply decorated space; it's also a bit loud. (The pastry chef was having a big engagement dinner at a nearby table, and that really amped the noise levels up.)

Yelp
This is the best fine dinning restaurant in Santa Fe! The food is incredibly delicious, affordable and good size portions. Attentive service but not over the top... it doesn't matter whether you sit at the bar or at a table. The ambiance is sophisticated yet unassuming, semi-casual and comfortable. Thank you Dave and Heather!

Yelp
This restaurant describes itself as street food inspired but that's confusing because it looks like fine dining ambiance and the food is seemingly elevated and creative. I got the miso veggies as a starter because I have never heard that before, and it honestly sounded pretty weird, but it ended up being quite delicious. Unfortunately, it was drowned in the sauce and the actual sauce was quite tasty but I would have preferred a lot less sauce. I also got the special, which was a 6 ounce filet mignon with potatoes and corn and a chipotle sauce and an avocado sauce. The filet was good quality and tender but the two sauces were what really made the dish. They were really great contrasts as one was mild and creamy while the other had a nice kick. For dessert, I tried the blueberry crostata and though I liked it, I'm not really a sweets/desserts person so I ate only half. It was interesting, it was kind of like a blueberry pie in a thick puff pastry breading. As far as service goes, no one was actually "friendly" but they weren't rude and they were helpful. When I flagged down staff, they were helpful but they just seemed busy, maybe a bit bothered even.

Yelp
Horno is hands down our favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. I had the special--a snapper with Thai influences--that was simply out of this world. Every time we visit Santa Fe, Horno is our first stop, and it never disappoints. If you're looking for the best dining experience in town, Horno is it!

Yelp
This restaurant is fantastic. Great food, menu and service. Reasonably priced. I also enjoyed the ambience.

Yelp
What a terrific dining experience. The food was very well-prepared and served quickly. The pasta was slightly overdone, the dumplings were also slightly over cooked. The focaccia and olive tapenade was delicious, the olive oil and balsamic served with it were perhaps in too round of a bowl to access the balsamic, difficult to eat olive oil that way. The server was very attentive and polite!

Yelp
5 stars isn't enough- this is a 9.5 out of 10! Horne isn't just some of the best food I've ever eaten in Santa Fe, but in the US. Everything was perfect- service- atmosphere- food- and the wine/cocktails/beer section was robust. We started with CANNELONE BOLOGNESE Spinach pasta, homemade ricotta, beef, pork, bechamel, basil pesto and the HORNO FOCACCIA. Entrees were Leo's Smackdown Burger and the Squid Ink Cappellini. Desserts were beautiful, but the lavender blueberry crisp was amazing. Trust me on this- go eat here- you'll thank me.

Yelp
I am upset. I met the chef and let him know that I was upset. Why had they not let me know, personally, that they were this good before tonight?! I leave for NY in two days, and after 33 years living in Santa Fe I find this place days before I leave?!? Tragic. The ambiance is Santa Fe downtown, what you expect for a restaurant crammed into the expensive location location location near the Plaza. Cozy, busy enough on a Saturday night. How I found myself at the bar this night is a story on its own, but for simplicity I heard about it from a guy sitting next to me at another place the night before. "Best Manhattan!" he exclaimed. Well well, I thought, hunt on. Restaurants come and go on Marcy Street, and I had not frequented this one nor even really heard of it prior. With my departure looming (days!) I thought I could not let a recommendation on a bourbon spirit lapse, so I booked a seat right then for the next night. 18:15, or 6:15 PM for those averse to a 24 hour nomenclature. Saturday night. Tonight. If you have not eaten here, stop what you are doing. Grab your keys. Comb your hair. Put it in D and find a place to park. Manhattan to start, and was fine. I'm a bourbon snob of sorts, but I ordered two so, there. But the food. O. M. G. Becky. First was the Miso Roasted Veggies: Zucchini, mushroom, eggplant, mint, basil pesto, piñon vinaigrette. I almost cried. Next up was the Pork Belly Yakitori: Togarashi-orange glaze, forbidden rice salad, pickled ginger aioli. I let it loose and wept tears of satiation. Both were so good I had to order one more thing. Tuna Tartare: raw sushi grade yellow fin tuna, black pepper risotto cake, warm anchovy butter. I was peeved. Food this incredible, at an amazing price, and I am leaving??? How dare they. Withdrawals are inevitable. If you have not been, go. This could have easily been double the price but each of these items were under $18, the veggies clocking in at only $12. I was satiated, and very happy. This is a fantastic eatery, if you are not already driving there as you read this then I don't know what to say. Just... go already!

Yelp
Horno was good! We went for my birthday dinner. I ordered a rosemary French 75 to drink, and it was an okay cocktail. A little too much rosemary for my liking, but that's my own fault for ordering it. Then we shared a Caesar salad and the pork belly skewers. The Caesar dressing on the salad was PERFECT. I love a good Caesar. The pork belly was soft and sticky sweet. It was delicious. I had the squid ink capellini for my main. It has a very "light" pasta sauce with saffron cream and seafood. It was a great. Only complaint was that the rock shrimp had a tough texture like it was over cooked. My husband had the burger and said it was his best burger in Santa Fe so far! Great flavor and cooked perfectly. We finished off with the crème brûlée and it was FANTASTIC. I would order it again every single time.

Yelp
Another fabulous dinner. We always enjoy sitting on their patio for ambiance. This time, we ordered the cannelloni and the 1/2 roast chicken. I would order both again. They also provided excellent service, as usual.

Yelp
Good service and adventurous food at a good price point makes this place one of the best neighborhood joints in downtown Santa Fe.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. Pork belly tostada is a must along with the Tuna Tartare appetizer. The pollo Mattone was also tasty! Good cocktails and wine selections with a great downtown location in Santa Fe. Service was tops as expected. Reservations are required for this local favorite but we did notice midweek you could get a seat at the bar. We recommend Horno. Cheers.

Yelp
Salmon and bean special amazing! Veal - equally flavorful. Save room for dessert. Service solid- with a Sangria special which was a nice break from cocktails.

Yelp
Service from kitchen was atrocious. Had to get good to go as we were falling asleep at table.

Yelp
Service was excellent. And I'm sure most dishes are excellent. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the duck. I am a non-meat eater so opted for the vegetarian dumplings. I must say, it was not seasoned well and the dumpling were somewhat rubbery (maybe under-cooked). The mushrooms and bok choy were good but the coconut broth needed heat (pepper flakes, siracha...something) and maybe some citrus (lemon or lime). Ambiance is nice. Maybe veg dishes aren't the most commonly ordered, but if offered, they shouldn't be treated like an afterthought.

Yelp
Fabulous small plates.. we shared warm tuna tartar on top of pan fried patty of risotto ( a must have), sweet/tangy chicken wings, seasonal ceviche, followed by a Caesar salad and Buratta salad.. just enough room for chocolate tahini torte... yes, yes, yes!

Yelp
I'm a foodie and this was Incredible! Saved in my contact list for next time I pass through Santa Fe. Great atmosphere & music, too.

Yelp
While in Santa Fe for business, we decided to try this restaurant for dinner (twice). The first time we did not have a reservation but were lucky enough to find a seat at the bar. The food was tasty and the ingredients were fresh. We started with the roasted beet salad which suprised me how good it was. For mains we got the vegetable dumplings which came in a bowl with broth which was different, however, tasted really good. We also tried the roasted chicken which was flavorful and hearty. Would recommend this place for dinner if you are in the downtown area. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time if you plan on visiting!

Yelp
I had dinner at Horno this weekend. The food was good, as it has been in the past, though the fish special was quite pricey and very small. What I found regrettable was that after making our reservation, we noticed that they included an end time. We were allotted 90 minutes to eat dinner, which would probably have been enough, but it put a damper on the experience. About fifteen minutes before our time was up, the owner or manager (I'm not sure which) stopped by to ask if we wanted dessert, and when we didn't, the check appeared immediately. I was still eating and had planned to order coffee. Not pleasant feeling like you are being rushed out the door. I will dine elsewhere on my next trip to Santa Fe.

Yelp
We had gone for a long hike in Valles Caldera and were hungry and ready for a great meal. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. We decided we'd split a bunch of dishes, so we ordered the focaccia, the miso vegetables and tuna tartar as appetizers, a salad, and the special pasta of the day. Everything except for the pasta came out at the same time, including also the cocktails we had ordered. Literally four dishes blanketing the table. The focaccia was good. But the miso vegetables were just so-so. The ahi was prepared in some sort of sauce that completely overwhelmed any flavor of the ahi itself. The salad was decent/good. Neither of the drinks were prepared well. Both were overly bitter and lacking in complexity - the sort of drink you could make at home, and then wish a professional bartender had made it. After we managed four dishes brought out at the same time, including in some cases leaving half the dishes uneaten, the pasta was served. It was the highlight of the meal. The homemade pasta was good and the accompanying mushrooms cooked well; nicely seasoned. But unfortunately it couldn't rescue the rest of the meal.

Yelp
Went here with my family the night before Thanksgiving. All I have to say? AMAZING. EVERY SINGLE DISH. Make SURE you get the chicken wings! I had the vegetarian curry - the broth was wonderful! My brother in law was still talking about his octopus the next day. Don't miss out!

Yelp
The beet salad was delicious; the mesclun salad just baby greens with a meh vinaigrette. The Caesar salad consisted of 2-3 uncut romaine leaves with two large slices of toasted focaccia slices holding two whole anchovies. There was a dab of dressing on the plate. One had to cut all the ingredients and mix them up to create a semblance of a Caesar salad. For the money, the salad should already be made, properly seasoned with garlic and lemon, and not just an attempt to appear visually chic. The tortellini with scallops was tasty but the helping was way too small for a grown man. The barramundi fish special was decent but the sauce was under seasoned, needing an acid kick of lemon, and pepper. The overall seasoning palette was very mild, reminiscent of mid-western, barely spiced cuisine. The service was very good with a warm hostess welcome and an attentive server. The ambiance was average, as the "art", i.e. black canvases hung an a diamond pattern, was mediocre--this in an art town where there are plenty of great pieces to purchase or commission. The piped in music was too loud for peaceful conversation. The outdoor seating was nice, equipped with heat lamps overhead. All in all, a decent, but not memorable meal.

Yelp
Memorable food! Great service. Nice selection of craft beers and wine, plus they now offer some cocktails. We appreciated being able to dine outside, even on a cold December night. Overall our best NM dining experience. Not surprising that Horno was a Best of 2022 winner.

Yelp
Went as a walk in, early on a weeknight. Sat at a 'community table' for six, though just two of us. A few minutes later, another couple got seated at the other end of the table and staff wisely didn't seat anyone between us. The hosting crew were quick with water, drink requests, and other offerings. Our waiter, Mario, appeared soon after to explain a few food options. He was excellent--truly interested in us, quick to talk about his adventures, and extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine. We ended up doing a purple of smaller plates (cannelloni and tuna tartare), as well as a salad each. While not large, servings were generous for small plates. The wines by the glass were good options and pretty reasonable. Overall, an excellent meal.

Yelp
Our first visit was FANTASTIC! We sat inside & Matthew was our waiter...he was SO enthusiastic & knowledgeable, we thought he had worked here a LONG time -- but he was TRAINING! We loved him &, as we left, I told the owner that he was a "keeper" :) We had Miso veggies, Beet salad, Veggie dumplings & Thai curry with peanut glazed pork belly. Every dish got a HAPPY EYE ROLL from both of us. I also tried a watermelon kombucha-type drink that was great! We couldn't wait to go back, so when some friends visited & wanted to sit outside somewhere, we booked a table on the (front) patio. Sadly, our 2nd experience was not great. It was a weekend night, so traffic was LOUD & heavy. Our friends seemed to enjoy their octopus ink dish, but my fish sandwich was flavorless & the fries that we got "for the table" were soggy. My husband got a vegetarian dish that was also rather flavorless. Our waitress seemed distracted & finished her shift during our meal. We had SUCH a great first try, we'll give it another go. And, for better or worse, you DO remember the name... :P

Yelp
Absolutely tremendous. Delicious food. The pop tarts for dessert are literally still in my dreams. Great service. Beautiful space. Perfection.

Yelp
Horno is a casual restaurant with a gastropub style menu in a fine dining setting. I was looking forward to trying it, but I just wasn't that impressed. I started with the roasted beet salad and it was bigger than expected with delicious golden beets. It came with tofu style feta which was interesting and had a much more mild flavor than traditional feta. This was my favorite part of the meal, because my entree of the squid ink capellini didn't taste at all like saffron cream like the menu mentioned. It was bitter and tasted like turmeric with super mineral like pasta from all the squid ink in it. The bay scallops and calamari also took on an off flavor and not in a good umami way.

Yelp
This was our third visit to Horno. The food is a bit inconsistent; the first and third visits were delicious, but the second visit in July was disappointing. We had folks with us who really wanted to go, so anything for friends! Despite the food making a comeback in October I don't think we'll be back. We were served twice by LeeBee? (I believe) and he was dismissive, impatient and condescending each time. We wrote it off the first time, but he offended our guests this last visit.

Yelp
We aren't even done eating yet and I feel the need to leave this. The service is nothing short of amazing. Our waiter was so personable and friendly and had great recommendations. The food was equally fantastic. If you get nothing else here, Get the octopus.
