"On any given night, the atrium and dining room at Horsefeather is packed with everything from awkward first dates to long-game couples discussing future pet names. The NoPa bar and restaurant is a solid spot for happy hour or a round of drinks that easily transitions to dinner—the cocktails are excellent, and the menu of tacos, fried chicken, and duck fat fries always gets the job done. An added bonus: their kitchen is open until 1am on weekends (and 11:30pm on weeknights), so you can fill up on a burger after a bleary Friday night at Madrone. RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Pork Cochinita Pibil Tacos These tacos are juicy, and the pudgy handmade corn tortillas do their best to soak it all up. We’ve never been let down by these. Duck Fat Fries An easy snack for the table to share. The curried ketchup and fluffy dollops of duck fat “snow” are a nice touch. Roasted Cauliflower This bowl of cauliflower has a sweet vegan corn dressing and a mild kick from calabrian chilis—it’s a more exciting vegetable option than the just-fine salads. Goat Cheese Artichoke Dip The dip is appropriately creamy and decadent, but the toast that comes on the side is stale." - Julia Chen
"Not all late-night spots in this guide rely heavily on a deep-fryer. Horsefeather focuses on lighter, shareable plates. The American-ish dishes at this cocktail bar in NoPa won’t make you fall asleep at the table, like the Moroccan spiced carrots and smoked tuna poke. If you’re after a cheeseburger and fries, they have that, too. "The NoPa cocktail bar should be high on your list of top date spots, mainly because there really is no downside to coming here. This place makes great drinks and serves both snacks and full plates for whenever your (hopefully) not awkward conversation makes you work up an appetite.
