I spontaneously stopped in for a late lunch. I had the Arugula and Beet salad with chicken added. The chicken was so delicious and the feta cheese was fresh, not over salty. I will definitely stop there again with friends. The waiter was very tentative. He told me they have entertainment most nights....how fun. I will will to return in the evening to see the dancers.

I got the salmon burger without the bun and it was actually just a good piece of salmon. I liked it. The fries are properly good. Overall, I think the service is slow and the atmosphere is weird because it’s also a hookah bar.

We are regulars here! Love the ambiance, food, and, of course, the hookah! Romantic atmosphere, perfect for dates. We usually get the pistachio base hookah. Excellent service, our favorite part of our time at Horus is Hakeem. He is our usual server, and we can not say enough nice things about him. He always has a smile on his face and is great with helping us with menu selections. He makes the whole experience a true pleasure for us. Ask for Hakeem to be your server while your there 😊

Absolutely loved it! I enjoyed it so much I went two days in a row while visiting NYC. Tried the Love 66 and the Virgin Watermelon Margarita—both were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Google
EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! I’m indecisive & my server recommended the PERFECT hookah flavor that wasn’t too sweet: AHMES! Pistachio & mint with pineapple head! My friend & I just got appetizers, but I loved them all!!! Definitely coming back & trying more things!

Huge shoutout to Jacky for her incredible service! She was warm, attentive, and made sure everything at our table was perfect from start to finish. Her energy was contagious and her timing was spot on—never too much, never too little. Truly made our dining experience feel special. Thank you, Jacky!

I recently visited Horus Café on Avenue A for an early afternoon meal, and once again, it did not disappoint. Whether you're looking for a brunch spot or a place to have a relaxed lunch, Horus Café consistently delivers delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. I decided to try both the French toast and the egg Florentine this time, and both dishes were absolutely scrumptious. The French toast was perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness, and the egg Florentine was rich and flavorful, with perfectly poached eggs. It's hard to choose a favorite because both were so satisfying. One of the things I love most about Horus Café is that it's the perfect hangout spot, whether it's day or night. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it an excellent place to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a meal alone. Overall, Horus Café never fails me. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by to experience their delightful menu and warm atmosphere for yourself. It's a gem on Avenue A !

Yelp
I was gifted a day off from work on Good Friday and a friend suggested that we meet at Horus. It was a first experience for me. When I arrived, there were a few people dining at the sidewalk tables and maybe three people inside. I loved the feel of Horus immediately-dark and loungy with cool, Middle Eastern sounding music playing. I was seated near a woman who was on her laptop with her feet up. I felt like maybe I was a bit too stiff for the beautifully laid back vibes. I decided to loosen up with an espresso martini-my first ever. It was made with Turkish coffee which was very tasty and not bitter as I had assumed. My friend arrived and then we really got it started. We ordered a tall, smoky hookah which comes with free charcoal refills, grilled lamb chops and Happy Hour margaritas. The hookah was lovely. My lamb chops were the most tender and juicy ever and they were presented on such a gorgeous grill. The cocktails were buy one get one, frozen or loose. We sat smoking hookah and guzzling cocktails for hours. We stayed so long that we were given free shots of tequila. We weren't made to feel rushed, even as the crowd increased. Soon enough, Horus was full of people but everyone was still in their own zone. Horus is such a vibe. Definitely adding it to my list of fave hookah restaurants.

Yelp
The food and ambience here is EXCELLENT. I have been coming to Horus for a few years and the food is always consistently good. But I feel like every time I'm amazed by the touches they're constantly adding to improve. The kebabs were very juicy and authentic with the charcoal taste. Kebabs were served on a mini charcoal grill at your table to add to the ambience of the restaurant. The dinner was served with rice and a mix of sides including sauces and even baba ghanoush. The tea was excellent and authentic. Service was excellent and the ambiance and style of the restaurant is great. Highly Recommend!

Yelp
I come to this place from time to time and one thing I want to highlight is the service. Sometimes hookah is not at par but they will make sure to change it if you tell right away, it just depends on the flavor - some are better than others. One time I was there I was served by a very sweet girl, I wasn't feeling good and asked if they had advil or something but I didn't expect she would literally go to 7/11 next door for me. That right there is very caring customer service. I didn't even ask for that, I wish I remembered her name. Today I was there again, Hakim the server was so friendly and sweet - I've never met such a humble and caring server in NYC . The first hookah was not smoking well and he changed it no problem, then my phone died. He found a charger somehow that matched my phone to make sure I get home safe and then on top of that when I was cleaning my laptop with a napkin he noticed that and brought me bunch of napkins lol. Mind you, it was a busy Thursday night yet he still was very attentive of his tables. The only thing I wish is that they had better cocktails, I don't mind spending a bit more but for a nice cocktail not the margarita they have for happy hour, it's just not a real margarita. And, since I like hookah, I'd suggest updating the hookah pipes - the hookah is still good it's just smoother with no screw hookahs like BYO.

Yelp
Sometimes, I just need to get out of my 6 x 8 nyc room to get some work done. Recently, my go to spot has been Horus Cafe on A. I typically go when the weather is nice so that I can sit outside and work, as a mix of the sun and people watching helps me gain inspiration. I have grown a strong affinity for the Turkish coffee as I feel like William Burroughs at Cafe Hafa in Tangier writing Naked Lunch. I need to shoutout my guy Aziz as he is always taking care of me!!! I'll se y'all soon.

Yelp
My new found love of Shisha made me come here... Made reservations for a Saturday night at 9:30pm. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess outside and given the choice between indoor or outdoor seating. It's summer time in the city so we opted for indoor (wrong move). Tables are very close together and before we knew it the place was PACKED!! The front door was also open the entire time so feeling the AC was almost impossible. Outdoor would've been cooler at that point. Yvette was our waitress for the night. She was very friendly, making sure we were good throughout her shift. We wanted to start off with shots of Casamigos or Patron but quickly found out they only serve house liquor. For my cocktail I had a spicy hibiscus margarita (spicy it was). The Hookah here is very affordable.... $24 for classic flavors with upgrades available. I like that their hookahs come with disposable hoses instead of it being an add on for additional monies. Per my usual flavor I went with Watermelon Mint. All was well until he refilled the coals... after the refill the hookah had a burnt taste. I couldn't even inhale without coughing. Wasn't a horrible experience but wasn't a favorable one either. Next stop Horus Cafe on B...

Yelp
Great food ambience and service. I loved their hummus with mutton cubes and yes the Lentil soup was very good. Overall a great time. They have hookahs too.

Susan L.

Yelp
I had the falafel and the restaurant substituted a mixed green salad for French fries upon my request. Everything was delicious including very good Americana coffee. This was lunch and I was able to sit at one of their outdoor tables. The service was friendly, and I will return!

Yelp
Was looking for good Middle East/Mediterranean cuisine and stumbled upon this place in Alphabet City. If the homage to Egyptian lore does not grab your attention, the food will. The pita with three different types of hummus were flawless (biased towards the beet hummus)! Turkish coffee made delicately in front of us almost made me want to permanently have my coffee steeped this way!

Yelp
Used a pulsd deal for bottomless brunch and because of that our options were limited. No lamb, steak or salmon aka all the things we came for. We settled for burgers and a chicken schnitzel/wrap neither of which was saying much. The waitress was new and it was very obvious. They offer hookah....
google avatar

Angie D.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place!!! Their chicken shwarma is delicious and always on point. Pretty nice selection of hookah flavors. The owner is very kind and so is everyone who works there. Dim lighting and loving atmosphere. I've only been there once with a friend and will be going back. I love Horus in Ave A!!!

Yelp
I never noticed how much I loved this spot until it became my Thursday after work spot with my girls . The happy hour is okay the hookah never miss, the manager is so sweet I can't thank them enough for having a good staff and great spot to enjoy some good laughs At. I can't wait to enjoy summer 23 here again

Mayank M.

Yelp
Amazing Hukkah with delicious Egyptian Koshari -- recommend for vegetarian/vegan folks too. Good vibes and music to go along with the food

Yelp
Really enjoyed sitting outside and sipping cocktails and smoking hookah. The outside seating is great for a breezy summer / early fall night. We opted for a Kiwi / mint mix with basic set up. The guy who made it personally came out to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We sat for a solid 2 hrs toking until closing at midnight. Would definitely come back again when I don't feel like making a big effort to stray from the neighborhood.

Yelp
You know, every once in awhile I go to a spot that has a 2 or 3 star rating and I am pleasantly surprised by my experience. You can't always judge a book, etc... Ok, fine, onto the review. My friends and I came here on Friday because we had all decided to go out for hookah. What I didn't expect to see was that all of the hookah at Horus is nicotine free, that made me extremely happy! We also saw the option to add alcohol to the base and of course, we had to try it. We opted for tequila and one of the "premium" hookahs. Turns out we smoked out of a pineapple- so rad! We all really loved it and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We got pretty hungry and got some food. We got the trio of dips: hummus, guacamole, and Baba ghanouj. Honestly, skip this. The only thing that was ok was the eggplant dip. The pita was pretty hard and also not my favorite. We also got the Labna, which I assumed to be like Labne. It tasted a bit more like sour cream. It was decent, but didn't knock it out of the ball park. What stole the show was the "mixed grill" (meat) option. I've never really had Egyptian food before, but this was killer! They came out with the steaming mountain of food and our mouths dropped. Everything was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. The onions too, delicious. I recommend if you get the Labna to use it as a sauce with the meat, especially the lamb, to balance everything out. The drinks were ok, they didn't seem to have much alcohol in them for $55. I'd like to try something else next time. Service was good, no complaints here. We sat outside in the outdoor dining section, which was well lit and well heated. I do look forward to dining inside though, seems like a fun vibe! Overall, I'd recommend and I look forward to coming back. 4/5

Yelp
My friends and I had dinner followed by a mini bar hop until we walked by Horus Cafe and was drawn in by the hookah. This may be the first place I've gone to without first reading the reviews. I was very shocked to see that it only has a 3/5 stars, which would have dissuaded me from coming. Our experience was at least a 4/5. We wanted to sit inside. At 10-11PM on a Friday night, they have a "you must spend 30 dollars per person" policy to sit inside. We quickly obliged as it was below freezing outside. We shared the mint hookah for around 20 something dollars. We each got our own individual thing to smoke from so it was hygienic. It was nicotine free. I don't do hookah often, if at all. But it was a pleasant experience. We each had a drink. My friends liked their cocktails and I liked the Lebanese beer that I got. We shared some small plates that came with warm pita bread. Our waitress was very attentive and came by regularly to ask how we were doing as well.

Yelp
This place charges you $8 per tea cup.... The pot it so tiny and the total will be 32 For tea lol and hookah is good but expensive tbh .
google avatar

Leida K.

Yelp
This used to be my go to place a couple of years ago. I returned recently and wasn't happy with the food or the service. We had to ask for the water refills many times and the place wasn't even busy. The boneless buffalo chicken was like cardboard. Stark difference between the juicy wings I used to eat all the time.
google avatar

Tanesha J.

Yelp
There's 2 locations, one on Avenue B and one on E 10th street and I've been to both this year. I'm not into the whole sheesha/hookah thing because I don't smoke but I've been told it's the main attraction of the establishment. Most people go for the nicotine free hookah and drinks and not technically for the food, but I went to eat. My friend who loves sheesha had the lemon and blue mist flavors said it was a bit pricey but worth the experience. The flavors were nice & potent. I ordered the Babaghanoush as an appetizer and the chicken kabob as an entree and both were pleasing to the palate. The chicken kabob comes with basmati rice and it's 1 of my favorites next to Uncle Bens. The chicken was seasoned well and flavorful. The grilled rib-eye steak which came with French fries and a salad was also really good. Both locations didn't disappoint. I had the blueberry mojito but I didn't like it so I ordered a mimosa which was much better. It depends on the day of the week, they have an arabic night with a live band playing Arabic music, there's a live Dj and a belly dancer performance on Saturday & sundays and they also serve brunch. It's extremely loud on the weekends and has a nice lounge atmosphere with the music and drinks flowing but definitely hard to have a conversation over the music. It's a bit foggy and stuffy from all the sheesha smoke but they stay open until 4am, 7 days a week. If you're hungry, the food is worth stopping by.

Yelp
Food always fresh and very well cooked. I actually really enjoy there crispy French fries. The service is pretty fast sometimes extremely fast, but low key random New Yorkers always ask to use the bathroom like purchase something you know, but the hookah is pretty damn amazing especially when there's a no smoking rule in my neighborhood.
google avatar

Ra M.

Yelp
This spot is really really cool...the ambiance is such a vibe...I'm definitely gonna return matter of fact think it'll be my new place to go...I also appreciate the courtesy glass of wine with my entree in for checking in
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
This place is okay. Hookah is super strong, I was very dizzy and light headed. Food was good, but I mean look at my portion, it looks like someone ate some of my fries! We all checked in and it said we would get a free glass of wine.... which was never given to us Wish my wrap had more sauce also
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
This is my first time at a hookah cafe so I don't even know what makes a good hookah cafe but I was pretty satisfied with my visit. Service is slow here but that's almost every restaurant or venue due to being short staffed due to COVID so I won't count it against the venue and the wait wasn't super long. At the end after trying to catch a server to pay for awhile, we just went up to the counter to pay. The manager of the hookah place was nice to let me have the WiFi password which I appreciated, since it wasn't required. What I also like about this place is it's quite cheap! You can get drinks for $10 here. The hookah was $28 which is not bad. We got a pineapple base with sex on the beach flavor. They only have nicotine free stuff here. They also provide separate tips for each person.
google avatar

Rosa T.

Yelp
The food, drinks, hookah, ambience is all great...the only thing is it's severely understaffed which provides an inconsistent experience. If it's nearly empty - everything is great! If not...be prepared to have a lot of things forgotten haha. Not anyone's fault, just an unfortunate situation. I would recommend keeping your plans flexible and taking a peek inside before you decide to go in. I swear, one time the place was only a quarter full and even then it was impossible to flag someone down...we had to re-order drinks multiple times and they even forgot our hookah!
google avatar

Akash K.

Yelp
My favorite hookah place in manhattan! It's not the best hookah but the vibe, drinks and value make it all worth it! Great service and crowd!
google avatar

Jeanene B.

Yelp
What a great time!!! My girl and I frequented two places for hookah - Pergola in midtown and Kazuza in Alphabet city, and by far Horus Cafe on A has become our favorite!! Great food! We had the calamari and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, the T-bone steak and salmon as entrees, the hookah with pina colada as a base and the pineapple, and two frozen strawberry margaritas - AMAZING!!! Horus is now our favorite spot, not only for the hitting hookah, but the the ambiance, food and drinks! If you're looking for an overall great time and meal, please check them out!!
google avatar

Maxi L.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite and some hookah. We sat outside because we had our fur baby. We got a chicken wrap, white sangria and mango hookah. When you check in you also get a free glass of wine. Nice spot to relax and chill and last night was nice and warm to chill outdoors. The waitress was attentive..
google avatar

Dino T.

Yelp
Lots of fun and great hookah. Lots of vegetarian options, service was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Gavin I.

Yelp
Good unique food with a nice ambience,it's a quiet spot not too busy cozy place for date night. An best of all they offer hookah all day which is fairly priced definitely worth a check...
google avatar

Alyssa K.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends after having dinner across the street because one friend wanted to smoke hookah. The rest of us ordered drinks. Between all of us, we got a frozen strawberry margarita, vodka soda, and rum and coke. No one could finish even half of their drinks because they were SO BAD. The margarita didn't even taste like tequila, it just tasted....bad. People switched to beer because something not made in house seemed like the only safe option. The service was also terrible. After they took our initial order, the servers never proactively came back to check on us. We always had to flag them down on the sidewalk where we were seated or even go inside to get someone. They must know the service is subpar and not care to improve, because they automatically add 20% gratuity to bills, which I'm sure no one would leave if they had the choice. The only positive about this place was the French fries, which were very good.
google avatar

Ron W.

Yelp
The service is horrible, Ordered a hookah that took 25mins just to get. Food was not appealing at all, sent it back just for the waitress to have an attitude. Ordered a margarita pitcher that was more of a spritzer then a cocktail. Definitely not a place I would recommend to anyone.
google avatar

Abby S.

Yelp
I've been really upset about the Service I have been receiving in the last couple of months when I come here in the evening. Couple years ago when I used to come here there were lovely women that used to wait in the evenings and they were so good with their service that it warranted tipping above the service charge. I decided to return early afternoon around 2 to see if the service is any different and because I really enjoy their falafels. the service what spectacular and I felt like I was treated like a respectable human being. Paulina dad Nisreen were both kind and made sure I felt like a valued customer. I order my falafel platter which I was denied the night before because on 3 occasions, no one put my order in. I waited an hour for my food and even lamented about the poor service. I like Horus because both the Hookah and food is good. But I would not come after 6 or tip above the service fee becuase the make waiters are not attentive. I wanto also give a shout out to MO who is a great Hookah make.
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
The food was really good, fairly priced, and the service was excellent. All of the waitstaff were incredibly kind and helpful.
google avatar

Gary L.

Yelp
Saw that it was 3 stars still came because I wanted hookah. I loved the tea punch or whatever... And the service was fantastic. So, I'm shocked to see the other reviews mentioning bad reviews and I'm picky Food was delicious too very juicy chicken
google avatar

Thai S.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for a while now. I love the staff here. Food is excellent and the vibe is also fine. The only two things that drives this 1 star away is the Host, and the cleaning and sanitation habits of the management. The Host is not welcoming, she probably is either owners wife or Girlfriend. Also I was served fruit flies one time with my sandwich and juice. Not okay. Overall not a bad place to chill

Tim K.

Yelp
Very good hookah for a reasonable price. Importantly, they bring it really quickly. Literally, 5 minutes after arriving in the cafe, you may smoke it. Food is OK. Nothing too special but good. And the portions are large.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
I came here last night with two of my friends and this place is such a vibe. Must check out if you're looking for a nice chill place to hang out with your friends or on a date. The hookah pricing was great and the server kept refilling our coals and didn't ask for extra charge which was awesome. The hostess was so nice and friendly. Our waiter kept making jokes with us and with the hostess so they were pretty chill. The food was SO GOOD. I wish i was hungrier but I will definitely come back here to try out their other entrees. The drinks were delicious too. Great ambiance and vibe. I highly recommend checking this place out when you're in the city. Great social distancing between tables. The wait wasn't long at all either. Our waiter constantly checked up on us as well. This location wasn't hard to find - close by to the L train on 1st Ave.

Chan G.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday night, 8pm or so. It was decently packed for that time. I don't know if it's usually the case, but it's hard to flag down a waiter sometimes. The food was alright, filling to say the least. I think people are mainly here to smoke hookah, anyway. My shrimp and avocado wrap with fries satisfied my hunger, but it was nothing special--especially not for the price point. The fries were good, though they are hard to mess up.
google avatar

Latasha M.

Yelp
Great ambiance and great hookah.. love the choices of flavors and the food is pretty good!! The Drinks are ok but it's a hookah spot so that's not that important!

Andelina V.

Yelp
Went in because I wanted something "lite" to eat-- the food was heavy and had no flavor! We ordered drinks and that was no good at all! It took them a long time to take our order and the server was not helpful in suggesting a drink... We didn't receive glasses of water when we were seated (every other table had glasses of water), we asked for water for the table and we got bottled water, if you guessed that they were over priced, you're correct!! I hate leaving "bad" reviews because I too work in the restaurant industry but wow! This definitely goes up there with the unpleasant outings...

Zain M.

Yelp
Great place, good food, honestly my best place to eat when I have free time in Manhattan ,All kinds of food for all kinds of people. It really is the best
google avatar

Jannu B.

Yelp
If your not ready to spend more than 100 this is not the right place for you. Ive ordered the Mixed Grill and rice on the side. It's SHAREABLE! Rice is good The mixed grill comes with variety of meat such as lamb, sausage, chicken and mixed vegetables which is mostly steamed. Food is okay not bad. I really loved the lamb but disliked the sausage and chicken because I felt that it was slightly Dry and flavorless. Drinks are great.
google avatar

Ma M.

Yelp
I used to come here a lot before, but moved so haven't been in a while. The interior is comfy, and there are lots of people working on their laptops during the day. I wasn't too hungry, so ordered a chicken ceasar salad which was only 8$ (!) That's almost impossible to find in this area. But the salad was actually giant so it was worth that and much more. The hookah starts from 22$, and it's great. The staff is very pleasant too. The only note I might have is dont sit next to the windows if you get cold easily as there are drafts coming in (in the summer the seating area is open). Their dips are great, so I'll definitely be coming back soon.
google avatar

Manjinder W.

Yelp
This review is long over due. I've been going to Horus for about five years now, there are three locations, but Horus on A is my favorite. Let's start with the hookah, always amazing. My go to - lemon mint, grape mint and orange mint all on pineapple head. Next, the food, from the lamb chops to the chicken kebab, the food is always flavorful! Last but most important, the service! Now during the day the service isn't as great as at night but still compared to other hookah lounges the service is impeccable. They are very good at changing the coals and servers are always polite. Unlike other places where they rush you out and clear your table before you even finish your food or drink, Horus' service definitely is what makes me keep coming back. Also, they have happy hour, half priced pitchers!

Yelp
Wallahi one of the best shisha in NYC. Staff is wonderful. Always 1st class service. Some customers think they can break law here (yani smoke drugs or hit women) because they show up drunk. The staff escort them out after we let them know. I always come drunk but i behave good and they treat me like a saint. Good beoble
google avatar

Hadassah B.

Yelp
I've been coming here since undergrad and I still love this place. I will continue to go here because the service is good, the hookah is good and the food is good as well. I appreciate how low key and chill the vibe is.

Yelp
This restaurant is very indeed interesting. How do you ONLY ID people when the BOSS, the OWNER of the restaurant is there. You don't want to ID anyone when the boss is not there? What kind of waiters/waitresses is that? The waiter never came to our table to ask for anything. Didn't ask if we want water or something to get started for us. That's what you call manners and customer service? Ridiculous. Two people asked for water and the waiter brought two water and didn't bother asking anyone else if they would like something or if they would like water too. Very rude.

Michele M.

Yelp
I had been at Horus in the fall of 2021. We had good service and the food was plentiful. On my last visit in June 2022 we were greeted and seated at a small table adjacent to the restaurant outside. We wanted to sit in the canopy areas the tables are bigger and knowing what we were gonna order was not going to fit on a very tiny table. We were told that area is for parties of 4. Meanwhile there was only 2 occupants. One table with 2 and other with only 1 person. After we were seated they let people sit at the tables. Parties of 1!!! We got our meal and it was significant more then half of what the dish was in the fall. When we told the waitress she just mocked us. We told her you can see we were struggling to keep the dishes on that tiny table. I will NEVER go back! stay away there are many other restaurants in that area!

Lina A.

Yelp
This is definitely one of my favorite spots in NY. It's middle eastern with a modern american twist. This cafe has the best food I've tasted anywhere. Pretty good hookah too. The atmosphere is very nice too perfect place to chill and have delicious food

Marta R.

Yelp
I visited this location this evening happy to see that the restaurant was extremely busy. I was willing to wait but became completely disenchanted with the disorganized waiting process and the rude service. The restaurant staff did not acknowledge the waiting patrons despite walking past them numerous times. No common courtesy to acknowledge the patrons or at the very least place them on a wait list. The staff working tonight did not display good customer service and lost several patrons including myself for dinner. I'm sure the food would have been great. I opted for their original location located on 6th street & Avenue B. Nicer staff, pleasant, and excellent food and drink. Patrons please choose the 6th street location!
