Hospederia El Batan

This is a two star hotel attached to a one star Michelin restaurant in a very rural and peaceful setting near Albarracin.|We reserved a table for dinner and a one night stay. It is very obvious building work continues here with more rooms being added, while it didn’t spoil our stay it certainly didn’t make for a pretty setting. |The check in was friendly and efficient but be aware very little English is spoken here.|No lift so they helped us upstairs with our suitcases. The room was spacious but very basic. The fitted sheet on the bed was too small and kept slipping off. The furniture also basic.|The bathroom was more modern with a decent shower but the towels were small, thin & stained. Probably ok for a two star with some small improvements (sheets & towels for a start).|We decided on the tasting menu for dinner. Service was good but again, very little English spoken, no menu in English either so be prepared if you aren’t a Spanish speaker, it is a Spanish restaurant after all.|We felt the menu had some good dishes but was a little over complicated In our opinion. The great local produce could have been the stand out flavours but got lost in foam and dry ice. The oyster in batter was wonderfully light but unfortunately I found a large piece of shell in mine. The beef course was spoiled as my husband’s piece was just gristle and fat. Attention to detail was just lacking here. |Having said all that, if you find yourself in the area it’s great value and worth a try, it wouldn’t be a destination venue for us again until they make improvements.|||

We visited the Hospederia el Batan with a big group of friends. What an amazing place. I can't believe the value - gorgeous spot, charming and comfortable room, and food I could barely believe. Our dinner was the best I've ever had (including starred restaurants in Madrid like DStage) - ambitious and fun, but most of all, absolutely delicious. The staff were accommodating (even with our two small children, who obviously didn't eat with us the night of our special meal), professional, and kind throughout our stay. We felt very welcome and will definitely return.

Located in the middle of the mountains in a marvelous spot. Sebastian and his wife provided to us a unique gastronomic experience. Carlos did a really good service for us, giving us some advise for places to visit near the Hospederia. Definitely I'll recommend this place for people who seek peace and relax. We'll come back.

We booked this place in the quiet countryside as a stopover between Valencia and Cuenca after a visit to beautiful Albarracin. Our room was spacious but simple, and the bed was comfortable. With nothing within walking distance, we decided to have dinner there. WOW! We did not know about the hospederia's dining reputation and Michelin star, so what a surprise! Dinner was first class, refined courses, yet in a relaxing atmosphere. It really made our stay at Hospederia El Batan special. The owner was also very knowledgeable about the region and gave us good tips for stops on our way to Cuenca and beyond.

If visiting Albarracin do not bother with hotels there. This is the choice with its own waterfall, free parking and working wi.fi.; huge rooms and comfortable beds , modern bathroom, a terrace for each room with its own grass pad which is the roof of any room bellow. It is next to the river and a river walk and trails galore. It is the ideal place to visit sites at Sierra de Albarracin and its restaurant (commented in its site at Tripadvisor) is fabulous. Breakfast is served in a room with outstanding views and in addition to the usual items they can prepare eggs as requested. Personnel is extremely well informed and provides advise. The hotel is expanding with minimum environmental disturbance and nuisance to the customers once completed it should be ||one of the premium places in Spain and to top it all the prices are outstanding. My rating is limited because I need room for betterment when the project is finished. By the way it is the place for the perfect romantic escape if privacy, pristine nature and peace are the goals.

Went on our second visit to this little gem.Now they have two new bedrooms built in the garden. They are modern,clean and very bright.It was a Tuesday night so it was a a bit quiet,but that didn,t spoil our tasting menu with wines in the slightest.Everything was as good as ever.Looking forward to our visit next year on our drive down to Andalucía.This has to be the best value hotel and restaurant in Arragon.

I was only eating at the restaurant like other times, but this time was different. The quality was poor, bad attended, expensive and small quantity without accompaniment. We orderer oysters, and we had oyster shell everywhere, the explanation was that the person who was used to prepare oysters was not there. The champagne was hot and many other things that shouldn't happen with a Michelin star.

It was a very surprising place for us. Thinking we had booked a room in a hotel, we found a Michelin star restaurant within a quite, relaxing hotel in a beautiful surrounding.
