I have been here twice. The first time was the absolute worst experience ever. However, I decided to give this place another try, and I'm so glad I did! The service was fantastic, and our waitress was attentive and sweet. The food was delicious, I ordered Eggs Benedict, and it came out perfectly. They have a great drink selection as well. I will definitely be back to try some more of their options. The decor and ambiance of Host is fabulous, very picturesque, and sophisticated. I am looking forward to more great experiences here!

This place has a rotating head chef - different every few months. Chef Mark (previously of Shewolf Downtown) was serving up delicious Italian and the wood fired pizza was Excellent! The cocktails were fun and the service was excellent as well. Chef Mark is on his way out, but we will be back for the next experience. Fun concept!

This was our first time here at Host. We love our server Danica. She was very attentive and brought us a treat for our friend birthday! I really love the concept here with rotating chefs every 6-8 weeks. Definitely coming back for dinner. If you were contemplating on coming here, this is your sign to come and request for Danica! Our favorite was the Breakfast Quesadilla!

Drinks were spot on as usual. The pork belly outstanding! Cucumber salad was under seasoned, and the chicken skewers needed more sodium to make them pop. Rarely do i have to ask for a salt shaker.

Host is an incredible time! This is by far the coolest and trendiest place to hang out! The pizza here is amazing! There are so many fun cocktail options, they even have baked goods! The staff here is on point - you can even read their bios in the menu. Such an original, unique experience!

The food and atmosphere was on point! We had the quiche and Cali sandwich and both were delicious. We celebrated my birthday and Sidney made it very memorable. Love this place!

Stopped in the try the latest Chef in rotation, Jessica Phillips and her menu of farm to table dishes with a French-American twist. We tried a lot and savored every bite! A lovely medley of the freshest ingredients, play on flavor profiles, and textures. We had the charred lemon shrimp cocktail with fresh jumbo shrimp on a bed of bright lemon dressed arugula and housemade remoulade. Then, we moved to the dumplings which were soft, pillowy bites of goodness accompanied by local Michigan mushroom, spinach, tomato and Parmesan over a ricotta bed. Such a wonderful dance of savory, tender, sweet, salty, acidic. From there we tried the chicken, so deliciously tender on a bed of creamy fava beans and honey roasted carrots. Also, the rainbow trout, right from the west side of the state. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, it was paired with crème fraiche and fresh dill and a side of creamer potatoes that had a crisp crunch and soft potato inside. The grand finale was the zucchini brownie with lavender caramel, Chantilly, and gold flake. It was rich, decadent, and indulgent. Overall, an amazing presentation and glorious intermingling of flavors, textures, and balance; umami.

We had brunch here. It was a rather large party of 13. Our server Cirenia B. And her helpers did an amazing job. Everything was fast, great, and they were on top of everything. Our group basically tried the whole menu. Everybody agreed it was worth it! I particularly had the American, with pancakes. I also added a massive side of avocado and arugula salad. The taste wasn't overwhelming... just perfect. Overall, I recommend making a reservation and eat here. Bonus, full bar!

Yelp
Bartenders on their A game as usual. Collin makes the perfect Last Word every time I go off menu. Didn't eat this visit, but enjoyed perfectly crafted cocktails, cool AC, and good company. Host is the best cocktail bar north of Ferndale in my opinion. Their guest chef concept produces unique menus and delicious offerings seasonally. The interior design is gorgeous and it's a pleasure to relax inside this space. If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for?

Yelp
I honestly would never have known there was a restaurant here if not for Yelp. The name makes it sound like it's something along the lines of WeWork, with this is a collaborative space. Having eaten here, I can't think of a better place to collaborate, at least for dinner. The concept of Host Utica is to rotate chefs and menus every 6 to 8 weeks. We were treated to the creativity of chef Mark Camaj, who studied with James Beard award winning chefs in New York City, and brought amazing insight into Italian Cuisine back to Metropolitan Detroit. Chef Camaj is also the brilliant mind behind FRAMEbar in Ferndale. After we placed our order, I heard what sounded like somebody running upstairs. It's exactly what I thought it was: somebody's kid is having fun. Our server told us that people working at the restaurant can have their kids watched in an upstairs area. It wasn't distracting at all: it just made my wife and I laugh. We kept it simple (i.e. cheap) and ordered the antipasto salad and pepperoni pizza. That pizza is normally dressed up with pickled jalapeño peppers, and honey, but my wife has always been Team Pepperoni when it comes to pizza, so we got it was just pepperoni and cheese. It was wonderful. You can see the pizza oven as you come in: this is not any old pizza place. The other pasta salad was also several steps better than what you normally have, with chopped up cold cuts on it. This had beautiful chunks of meat and cheese, and the dressing suited it perfectly. We certainly couldn't leave without buying some pastries. You see them as you walk in, and there was no way we were going to leave without something. There's a saying when it comes to food that we eat with our eyes first. A beautiful presentation does make a difference. Fortunately, things actually get better when you actually eat the pastries. We got cheesecake, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, and a variety of other pastries. All of them weee absurdly delicious. Totally worth ruining a diet. Chef Camaj's rotation lasts until mid August. We are definitely coming back to work our way through as much of the menu as we can. And, we will also definitely return to see what the next chef has in store.

Yelp
We had a fantastic dinner the other night from guest Chef Jessica Phillips. I would describe our entire meal as deliciously satisfying and it was well worth it. These dishes will make you want to try everything else on her menu. - The Ricotta Dumpling dish was generous and very delicious. The sauce, herb oil, arugula, along with the freshly harvested Maitake mushrooms created the perfect bite with each forkful - best vegetarian plate I've had thus far. - The Farmhouse Pot Roast was no ordinary classic, but rather a generous dish that kept us eating until the plate was clean. The potato gratin, the crispy shallots, and that demi-glacé! - The Meat & Cheese plate consisted of balanced, delicious flavors as well as good quality ingredients, Of note are the chutneys/preserves on the plate - fresh, not too sweet, small bits of fruit which paired excellently with the assorted meats and cheeses. Next time I may order this plate with the fresh bread service along with a nice glass of wine - an elegant and delicious happy hour for myself. We're going to try to make it in one more time this month to try other dishes before the Chef changes the menu for May, but we're also looking forward to what she has in store next.

Yelp
Quite disappointed...I won't lie. I had high hopes for this experience. We saved this location on Yelp because we saw espresso martini flights...which was not an option when i got here. I made a reservation (which I also suggest everyone do) since I was going to be in there area for business. Sad to say I wasn't greeted with much of a smile. Sat at the table for about 10 minutes until someone other than a waitress took my drink order. Unsure if there was some sort of emergency with the indented wait staff (hopefully not!) but I felt very unimportant during this experience. I ordered an espresso martini and side of crispy potatoes. Nobody asked how things were once I got my food, had to flag someone down for the check, and just didn't have the greatest time. The decor was adorable and very inviting once you walked through this odd Wizard of Oz-type curtain entrance. It was their last weekend having valentines decorations up, so that was cute to see

Yelp
Fantastic food with great atmosphere. I've only been for brunch and have been blown away each time! Everything tastes super fresh and like it was made by someone who really cares about what they're putting out. Service is great, very attentive and informed about the menu. I love how they decorate for each season/holiday. Valentine's Day decor was too cute. Can't wait to be back for dinner and handcrafted cocktails!

Yelp
Interesting concept of ever-changing menu with different chefs every few weeks/month. My friends and I decided to have a girl's night here; did not disappoint! The restaurant was decorated beautifully for February/Valentine's Day. Lots of thoughts were used to make the environment warm and relaxing. Our waitress was attentive and had a lot of patience with us which we truly appreciate. One of my friend is vegan and our waitress was helpful with helping her decide on what to order. She ended up going with Mushroom Mole, another friend of mine went with Costilla De Res (rib), and I went with Lomo Saltaso (strip steak). We weren't super impressed with our dishes. Over seasoned to the point where it's on the salty side; I couldn't finish the stir fry. But all of our dishes were beautiful made and displayed. We're just a bit pickier with taste because of the price point. There's a 1.5 hour dining time limit. Which is fair, this place got busy! Since we were here to celebrate a friend's birthday, we were hoping our waitress would come back so we could ask her to snap a photo of us before we leave; especially with how beautiful the environment was. We were probably 3 minutes past the time limit when the hostess came up to us to (very) nicely let us know that our time is up. We took the chance to ask her to help us with the photo which she kindly did. Definitely a neat experience. Will definitely find a reason to come back.

Yelp
We came to Host Utica for the first time during the DeutschTroit residency. It's a cute space inside, cozy but not tight at all. Service was very attentive, making sure throughout the meal that everything was good, but not hovering. We started with the sausage plate, everything was delicious, especially the red cabbage. All of the sausages were very tasty, including the sauces. We both got schnitzels,I had the chicken. The potato salad was a great touch. Everything was so good with very generous portions. We'll definitely be checking out the upcoming events and chefs to see what's coming, and the pizzas look tasty, so hopefully we can check those out.

Yelp
Perfect place for a date night. This place is beautifully decorated. We could grab a seat as we reserved well in advance. The staff here are all really friendly and welcoming. She helped me choose a veggie option from the menu as per my palette. Also they offer wood-fire pizzas over the weekend, for which we requested customisation and they worked our request out. I'm glad they helped. Unfortunately couldn't try any chef's special as very limited vegetarian options on the menu. Overall a wonderful experience. Will definitely come again to drop by the bar. Cocktails are presented well, we tried old fashioned, love note, and miss those days! All of them were just perfect.

Yelp
So glad we decided to stop in. I did not know they did guest chefs here. This review is for Chef Ken Miller doing his Yarrow menu right now, until August 3rd. Drove in and sat at the bar on a Thursday night. Host is always really pretty inside and the drinks are great and great prices too! We started with the Dutch pancakes... and omg, literally melt in your mouth! I mean they were so good, we ordered more! One of the best things we've ever had, an absolute must! Then had the hamachi crudo... and again sooo delicious. It was fresh and light. Next we had the chips and dip.. again delish and not your average chips and dip. It was a great snack with the drinks. Husband had the duck and I had the trout for dinner. Oh my... both were fantastic! The flavors and the combination of everything the chef did was just incredible. When we received our bill, we were shocked! With 2 drinks each, few apps, and 2 dinners... anywhere else would've been over $150, especially with that kind of quality food and presentation. We will def go back before he leaves!

Yelp
Such a great night! Made reservations ahead of time, and didn't have to wait. The hostess was very pleasant and greeted us with a smile. Once at our table, our server was so helpful with helping us decide on what we wanted to drink. We ordered the salmon tartare as an appetizer and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. Our entrees were the chicken calabrese and the brisket & polenta. Both were fantastic. Ended with an espresso martini with the most adorable print of a vintage Christmas scene. We can't wait to go back to try other items. Also, there are many close public parking options which is a major bonus!

Yelp
I had a warm gingerbread oat milk latte and it was spectacular. All the portions were huge and we were happy with not only the taste but also for the presentation. Everyone was nice and our drinks came right away. We loved the decorations and it was such a nice vibe in the restaurant and in the town. Parking was available in front so we were happy about that. Overall a good experience and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great food and excellent venue. I have been there twice and both times I have been impressed by the food and cocktails. My only complaint is the seating arrangement. The tables are a bit tight. There is a public parking lot nearby so if you can't find street parking there is no issue getting a spot. This restaurant has rotating chefs so the menu is always changing. We went while they had a Spanish themed menu and were very impressed.

Yelp
Service was top notch. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable with infectious enthusiasm for the unique drink and gastronomy creations. Food was delicious with generous portion sizes for the price. Drink menu was unique & well curated, Wish I hadn't driven so I could have tried more Learned that the natural "wet-dog" smell that accompanies raw egg foam in a drink can be tempered with a lemon peel expression! **HIGHLY RECOMMEND**

Yelp
Perfect 10! Host is absolutely amazing!! Friendly knowledgeable staff with a great low key atmosphere with AMAZING food and mixology cocktails that will dazzle you! NOTE: Keep an eye out for the tiki light .... This is a great value add to Utica for wonderful new vibe for Utica, MI!!

Yelp
We had breakfast there and the food was incredible. We got an omelette and tees leches pancakes, some of the best breakfast food we've ever had!!The waitress was amazing and overall service was excellent. We love the feel of Host Utica, especially for breakfast/brunch on a weekday. Overall 10/10 experience.

Yelp
I've heard so many good things prior to coming here, that I couldn't wait until I was able to see what this place was all about. My friend and I went to check this place out and it is mostly worth the hype. It's a restaurant that literally "hosts" different chefs and menus. They rotate for basically up and coming chefs who want to show their skills off. The current chef, according to their menu is Andrew Stevick. Anyway, the place is pretty cool, but man, the parkings tough here. If I had circled one more time I was about to park somewhere else and take an Uber! Anyway, I love the decor here and despite it being busy on a Sunday afternoon, we got a table shortly after arriving. My friend had wanted breakfast, but I wanted lunch. Fortunately, they serve both on a Sunday afternoon. (some places are brunch only on Sundays no matter what time you show up.) I got the Dom smash burger and my friend got an omelet. We were going to order pour over coffee, but they were out of cream. I docked a star for this because that should be a crime. How do you run out of cream! UGH. (there's another reason I dropped down a star, but that's bill related. Please continue reading.) Our server was fabulous and was always checking in on us. Since they ran out of cream, I went with tea, which was actually quite good. My friend got an espresso and we both enjoyed ourselves. I could've gotten a mimosa, but not for $11 and I love them and would need like a million mimosas, so no. The other reason I docked a star, is because they pass on the credit card fee of 3% to the customer if you're paying with a card. Fortunately, I brought enough cash with me, but not really excited about that. I've seen this done at other places here and there, and it seems to be a rising trend. I know it's a business decision but in this day of Apple/Google pay, QR codes and so much more, it just feels weird to pay the 3%. It really isn't that much but still. Anyway, I'd gladly return and visit every so often to see the rotating chefs that they have. I would also like to try dinner here, and will probably take an uber here so I can drink Mimosas and not deal with the parking. And probably smuggle in coffee cream, but ssshh don't tell.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend dining or having an event at Host. I have eaten at Host before and every meal has been awesome. A friend recommended renting the upstairs for an event and I'm so glad that I did. The event ran so smooth that I felt like a guest at my own party. The staff was incredible and so accommodating if you're looking somewhere to host your event or a night out with wonderful food and great service I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
In downtown Utica, this is a restaurant with a beautifully designed interior that exudes character. The second floor can be used as an office space. The coffee is excellent, and the dishes are uniquely crafted. It's definitely a place worth experiencing.

Yelp
Awesome brunch menu! Both breakfast and lunch options! Great service! Would definitely go again!

Yelp
I went to Host back in November during their Moroccan chef visitation and the menu was absolutely phenomenal. The decor was beautiful inside but seating is a little tight for people who like a little space in people tables. The hostess was very kind and our waitress was lovely. We had delicious cocktails and food. I can't wait to go back. I had a dish I believe was called "Grandmothers Chicken" and I still think about it months later.

Yelp
Not sure if they had a bad night, were understaffed, or this is how they operate, but I WAS NOT impressed, whatsoever with the food or service, however, the ambiance of the place is stellar. We had 5:45 reservations for 3 on a Friday evening, and they hammered home the policy that our reservation was only good for 1.5 hours when we called ahead, and when we arrived. 1.5 hours should be enough time to have dinner & drinks, no problem, right? Wrong. At the table for 5 minutes before we got water. She didn't take our order for drinks at that time either, she said she'd be right back. Another 10 minutes before our server came back to take our Drink orders. Took 15 minutes to get our drinks, and mine was filled to the brim that it was spilled on me when brought to the table. I made sure she took our appetizer/shareable order at that time. We ordered brussels sprouts, chicken lollipops & fried green tomato caprese salad. Our brussels came 30 minutes later! Burnt but not crispy, fine, we ate them. Our fried green tomato caprese salad, another 20 minutes after that. Fine, but not great or memorable. Chicken lollipops, another 15 minutes after that. Deep fried too long, burnt, and not enough sauce on the plate to make them edible. At this time, we've been there for 1.5 hrs, and only had 1 round of drinks and appetizers. There was no way they were going to kick us out, because the table next to us was eating their appetizers when we sat down, and they were still here! Our server came to the table 10 minutes after the chicken was served, and asked us if we wanted dessert, and how we'd like the bill split up. Um, lady, we haven't even had dinner yet! We ordered another round of drinks, and one more appetizer, fried shrimp. Another 15 minutes for our drinks to come, and 20 more after that for the shrimp. Took one shrimp out, and it was raw on the bottom! I tried fervently to track someone down about this, because we saw friends waiting for their 7 pm reservation, who had been waiting almost an hour now. The replaced the shrimp, which took another 15 minutes. At that time, we had 2 rounds of drinks and 4 appetizers, we were pushing $170 bill, almost 3 hours there, and decided not to even try to order entrees. We just wanted out. I may give this place one more chance because of location, ambiance, and rotating menu, to see if they are truly this bad on a daily basis, or I just came during a murphy's law vortex of everything going wrong at once.

Yelp
Brunch Review We absolutely expected a wait, but were confused on arrival when asked if we had a reservation. On their website it says Brunch is walk-in only. Had we known, I would have tried to make reservations with two kiddos under 5 to avoid the 45 minute wait. Inside is pretty. Lots of faux greenery, modern lighting, with an airy feel despite being small and jam packed with people. Food was good. My littles loved the eggs, crispy potatoes, and waffle covered in strawberries and whipped cream. Out of everything on the table, I enjoyed the Brussels sprout hash the best. All our dishes were well made and delicious, though nothing blew me out of the water. I look forward to coming back for the evening rotating chef.

Yelp
We've spent way too much money over winter break going out to eat... but we skipped our vacation this time, so we're justifying it. Host Utica for brunch on Thursday. I had the peppermint hot tea (very minty ) & my Husband enjoyed his Mikey B cocktail. He had the classic breakfast and I had the breakfast burrito. The chorizo in it was soo flavorful. I highly recommend it! He may have ordered a "basic" breakfast, but there was nothing basic about it. Everything was high quality and delicious. We always enjoy this place... ambiance, food, drinks, service- all top notch!! We've been here a few times before so I'm including precious photos as well.

Yelp
I love trying different restaurants and this place feels like trying a new restaurant every month. I could tell you everything I've tried, but you're going to try something new bc the menu changes! The restaurant "hosts" various chefs & changes the menu and theme. The food is always excellent featuring different cuisines and flavors. I have actually NEVER been disappointed here. I've experienced several different cuisine styles here, and fell in love with them. Their Peruvian menu was so good they actually hired the chef (big win). I highly recommend this place and I'd love to hear what you think. Right now (Dec '24) I think they have a "New American" menu which I can't wait to try. I'm even sorry I didn't post anything about this place before. Food choice ~excellent Presentation~exciting Flavor~outstanding Service~ always fun. They can get busy. I've been lucky and we usually miss the big rush, but reservations are always a good idea here.

Yelp
I have been here 2 times. The menu periodically changes; in fact I think it is a monthly switch. Both tim3s,I was with a larger group and we had made reservations. This is the way to go for brunch. My most recent time was in early December. Right after they switch menus. Everything that I have had there has been great which is why i keep coming back. There is no real dividers between the tables beyond space so the place does get quite noisy with all of the tables filled. Our waitress this most recent time, was able to keep all of our orders straight. Please note that for parties of 6 or more, their website says that they will add a 20% gratuity. This is not bad. The food is definitely worth a return visit. It is easy to find parking at least on a Sunday morning. I will definitely come back

Yelp
Experience photo-documented. Street parking. Menu was interesting. Avo Toast was overrated for the price. Brussels Sprouts were delicous. Coffee was OK. Thankfully they had half and half. Service was good. She seemed like she has done this her WHOLE life, but confused about what a Red Eye was. Ambiance. Beautiful loo and decor. Nice lighting and furniture. Space allows for working and study towards the front of the restaurant. Overall, good. But too pricey. Take friends here to impress.

Yelp
Always changing menu, great choices. Ambiance is very eclectic. Service is quick and friendly.

Yelp
I was pleased with this dining experience although I think it was overpriced. The red snapper was delicious but very difficult to eat. I had bones in every bite. The skirt steak was good but not seasoned well. Carrot cake was average but the bread pudding was delicious. Drinks were pricy too. Service was good albeit a bit slow, especially on the backend of dinner but the server was very nice. Decor is pretty nondescript. All that being said, had the meal been $50 less, I'd give it 4 star rating.

Yelp
I had brunch there today with my friend. The restaurant is super cute. It has very fun modern decor. Our waiter was very nice, but it was super busy and I think he was overwhelmed as he revealed that he was new. I had the eggplant Parmesan sandwich and it had a lot of potential, but it was essentially flavorless except for The over taste of salt. The french fries were undercooked or had been sitting for a while. The food did seem to be a high quality. I just think the seasoning was off. My friend had the croissant sandwich and she said it was just OK as well. My espresso martini was very good. Overall, I think the place is very cute and has a lot of potential, but they need to work on their seasoning a little bit it was also very loud in there as it's completely open and I felt like we had to shout at each other to be heard.. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you're going to go there as it was packed.

Yelp
I met my sisters at Host Utica for brunch and we were all blown away! The quality of the food and service were both top notch. Danika was our very attentive and skilled server and made sure were had everything we needed throughout our lovely meal. She was excellent! Thank you for taking such great care of us Danika. I ordered a Roasted Bloody Mary, and it was incredibly light and fresh and contained a crunchy pickled asparagus spear as a treat. Perfection! The French Omelet and crispy potatoes were by far the best I have ever had. Everything was fresh and obviously made by someone who knows how to put together unique flavors to compliment one another and taste amazing together, plus looked beautiful on the plate. We were never felt rushed, which was great since we were enjoying the experience. Looking forward to more visits and also having another location to try in the future.

Yelp
I'm from California and I'm used to wine bars like this place! Once I sat down Amanda and Veronica greeted us with big smiles and explained the wines that we didn't know! Come here for ambience and great wine and food!

Yelp
My husband and I try to visit at least once for each rotating chef. We got in at the last minute to try Chef Jessica Phillips' menu and we absolutely enjoyed it! We had the Spring Carrots, Ricotta Dumplings, and Mac & Brie with chicken. We hope Host will have Chef Jessica back again so we can try more of her dishes. Thank you to Cirenia for such great service. She immediately let me know that she recognized me as a repeat guest of the restaurant and she was great with checking in on us and fulfilling our needs!

Yelp
Went in for their winter menu. Overall good experience. The ambience for the holidays was very charming. Tried a handful of their craft cocktails. All top of the line and very unique. Hard to choose as the cocktail menu was so expansive. We were dispensed they were out of salmon, chicken and pizza by 8:30 on a Friday night. Kind of frustrating for such a limited menu. Food all had a little spice to it. The brisket dish was tender and the pork shank was very filling and flavorful. The burger was over cooked. Ordered it medium and was cooked all the way through and did not hold together like a good juicy patty should. Needed a little more pizazz for an expensive burger.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome vibe and atmosphere. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Also recd a follow up phone from Michael Ivkov thanking us for coming in. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I was invited to attend a dinner at Host recently and had very high expectations because of the reviews. I will say the ambience is great and its a very unique concept. however, it was quite expensive in comparison to the portions. the customizable espresso martinis were adorable though. my waiter Jonah was ok...overall very bougie vibes. But maybe I will try the place again in the future.

Yelp
Last Sunday, we had the pleasure of going back to Host Restaurant. I so enjoy how they change the menus and bring in new chefs along with new food to try. Great restaurant very very beautiful inside, wonderful decor food perfect.

Yelp
We are in LOVE with Host Utica and are smitten with the concept of guest chefs--switching up the chefs keeps things fresh and introduces you to some amazing talent. Even though it's a little more than an hour each way, we made 3 trips to see our new favorite chef. Host strikes an amazing balance of presenting top drawer chefs in a beautiful but unpretentious setting with TERRIFIC staff. We have been there several times and never experienced an off night. They are consummate professionals and we appreciate them to the stars and back.

Yelp
Love this place. I found out about it through Romena's pastry shop, who makes AMAZINGLY PERFECT TREATS!!!!! I've only had the coffee here, I get the caramel latte and it's one of the best lattes I've ever had. Service is impeccable and the staff are extremely friendly. I've yet to tried the food, but the rotating menu is so fun for Macomb. The interior is also beautiful, I love the bar so much. Go to Host!!!!

Yelp
On a bustling Sunday afternoon, Utica Host was an excellent brunch spot to check out. As I stepped inside, the air buzzed with energy as clinks of glasses blended in with joyful chatter. With its modern white aesthetic with a touch of brick rustic and flora accents, Host definitely knows how to dress up a space in style. The service was alright. For some reason, they kept making minor mistakes here and there, but they were quick to address them for the most part. Altogether, everyone we interacted with was amicable. For the food portion of the brunch, we were given a small select menu designed by a featured rotating chef. How creative! I love the fact that they are willing to highlight multiple chefs and give each one time to shine. I got the chicken and waffles with a matcha tea latte. The latte was standard and run-of-the-mill. Nothing too crazy to tak about there. The chicken and waffles though was quite the interesting rendition. The 3 half puck sized waffles were delightfully sweet and had an interesting sugar crunch to each bite that contrasted really well with the 2 fried well-seasoned chicken tenders. The flavors were all there, but I would have liked for the fried chicken to be slightly more juicy and crispy. And maybe its just me, but although the portion was satiating, I wish there was a tad bit more food on the plate, especially for the price. Overall, an above average place to take a nice date or rally your friends and family to. I definitely want to come back for dinner and maybe even try the pizza place upstairs, Pizza Del Nino.

Yelp
Host is dynamic and one-of-a-kind that brings Downtown Utica to new heights. You've got an iconic atmosphere, top-notch cocktails and rotating chefs that create a phenomenal culinary experience every visit! You can tell every detail was meticulously thought out when designing the space. Their rotating flower wall is one of my favorite design aesthetics Their brunch is also fantastic, and in addition to the guest chef dinner menu, Host has their wood-fired pizza from 5p-10p Thurs-Sat. If you have a business meeting or special gathering, consider utilizing their beautiful private space on the second floor!

Yelp
Such a great experience at Host! It was fairly easy to make a reservation for a Thursday night. I love how they have a rotating menu and T he restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing as well. We ordered the pollo Milanese which was so good that I forgot to take a picture of it. The sword of mizu drink was delicious, very refreshing and light. Definitely would come back to try the food again.

Yelp
Friends invited us to check out Host in Utica. The decor is inviting, and the staff is welcoming. We were able to snag the last available table, but I would make a reservation for next time. We ordered a variety of dishes - peach cobbler monte cristo, chicken and french toast, shakshuka, and the spicy chicken sandwich. The cajun lemon aioli that came with the spicy chicken was delicious, and the cayenne pecan maple sauce on the french toast was a great mix of sweet and spicy. Host is a great option for brunch, dinner, or to just grab some dessert!

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Host. I had some girlfriends come into town and was recommended to visit this location for drinks and dinner - great recommendation. We enjoyed several different cocktails, an array of dishes - from empanadas, to rib eye, pasta, and pizza. Five stars all around. Their menu rotates so if you become a regular (jealous) you won't get bored. Their staff is great and their interior is super cute - get your camera ready! On select nights, they offer childcare... did someone say date night?! Seriously, so many positives.

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here last night. Luckily I had made a reservation, because this new spot in town was busy! The atmosphere was lively and I loved the decor. As with most places these days, it was a bit too loud for me (but manageable). Our waitress was awesome, and catered to my sister's special requests - including getting words "printed" on the foam of her cocktail, which I'll admit was pretty cool. I decided to go with the Flannel Jams and loved it, then moved to the Conjuring Spring which was equally good. The only negative was that it took a really long time for our drinks to come out, but they're probably still finding their groove as a new restaurant. For food, we split the scallops and the lamb bolognese. The scallops were divine, and served on a bed of yummy butternut squash risotto. My sister and I both didn't care much for the lamb dish, and would choose something else next time. I'm looking forward to seeing how their menu expands with the addition of the pizza oven and I'll also be back to try their brunch!

Yelp
Fantastic dining experience here for dinner! The current menu is Moroccan and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. We started with the seafood egg rolls, didn't taste much seafood but they were tasty. We also had the artichoke pizza which was nice and light. I had the lamb tajine which was so tender and had the most interesting spice combination. The pastries are also rotating and the pumpkin cheesecake we tried was divine! I would absolutely come back to try more of the menu. The cocktails are also very interesting with many non traditional ingredients and the service is so good. Everyone we interacted with was smiling and friendly and helpful!
