Hostal Suso | Best places to stay in Santiago de Compostela

"This exceptionally friendly family-run hotel, right in the heart of Santiago and just a minute’s walk from the Cathedral, has been a beloved institution for over five decades, bringing joy to bargain hunters and tired pilgrims. Its bright and immaculate en-suite rooms, with twin or queen size beds were recently renovated, and there’s a popular all-day café downstairs where you can grab breakfast. Anyone who has been on the road will appreciate the useful laundry service that won’t break the bank. But do note there are stairs and no lift. It doesn’t get more central than the Suso; walk out of the door, and you’ll find picturesque granite porticoes lining pedestrian Rua do Vilar, with the Santiago tourist office right next door. Tapas bars, and restaurants dot the streets, but although the area can get quite busy during the day, things quieten down after dark. " - Dana Facaros

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hostal Suso. The location is great - close to everything. The rooms were well equipped and beds comfortable. Our booking included a generous breakfast, which was nice. The biggest standout for our stay, however, was the staff. They were quick to respond to any inquiries before we arrived and very accommodating to any special requests once we arrived. We greatly appreciate their warm and welcoming demeanor and their overall kindness. We would happily stay again!

Our stay here was very pleasant. The service was amazing. We had great food recommendations from the staff and they were overall very friendly and helpful. The building is in the historic district, making it very charming and close to everything you want to see in Santiago. It has recently been renovated and is very cute and chic. They did an awesome job and I would 100% recommend this place for a stay in Santiago. Also, the restaurant below has great food…especially their cakes 😊 Guests get a discount for breakfast, and they open exclusively for guests one hour prior to opening for the public (8 am for guests). Great place to stay and to have a meal or coffee.

What a lovely place. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The cafe below (part of the hotel) is on the best in Santiago. Great food and atmosphere. The location is perfect for the old town, New town and an easy walk to the train/bus station. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Great location. We stayed here after the el camino. Only issue was there was a mid week live rock band playing around the corner about 100m away. They covered a few songs i knew and the fans obviously loved them lol. I was dog tired after 300km of walking over 2 weeks - so fell asleep no problem - but if u are a light sleeper - might not be the neat area for you as it is right in the main action and like 3min from the cathederal. Buen camino!

Very clean. Excellent location. Quiet rooms. Staff speaks English. Delicious food. No elevator, but they did help bring luggage to our rooms. Called a taxi for a morning ride to the airport. AC, WIFI, and hair dryer included.

Great accomodation in the centre of old town-perfect location for wandering the beautiful little streets, cafes, restaurants, shops & the spectacular Santiago cathedral (make sure you so a rooftop tour). Lovely staff, super clean, comfortable, very reasonably priced and has a restaurant on site-great to sit outside on the terrace & watch the world go by after walking a camino.

Fantastic lactation near the cathedral, but easy access to so many interesting things that Santiago has to offer. Also close to transit to the airport. Delicious on-site cafe.

Excellent size for a double room. not the cheapest but definitely cozy, and right in the heart of city. Very friendly and informative staff, cleaning to perfection every day when we are out. Cafe next to hotel opens up to midnight - evening flight not an issue.
