I didn't know where to go in Valdivia and the taxi pulled up here. The owner was so friendly and honest from the outset. He showed me a small enclosed room but said there was bigger if I wanted to pay more. The clean smell of laundry persuaded me of the cleanliness and I accepted. Very comfy bed with private shower room. They let you use the kitchen facilities but not cook. Breakfast is basic but sufficient, hot roll, cheese, ham, cake and jam. The owner is so pleasant and really helpful. Great value for a fab location 5 mins from the river and centre.

We found this hotel online. We arrived early afternoon and as soon as we got in, the owner suggested a bigger room with four beds, instead of our reservation of 2 separate rooms, to make it cheaper for our family: 2 adults, one teen, and one kid. Very nice thing to do! They brought us clean towels immediately, and the owner personally took care of a little problem we had with the WC (non-stop running water). The house is old, but it is well kept and, looks warm and comfy all around. The room's wooden floor looked a bit dusty, specially under the beds and behind, surfaces where a bit dirty, but on the other hand there is plenty of closet space. For the value overall it was ok. We had TV with a few cable channels, and it was possible for us to use the kitchen's microwave, and fridge. There is always the possibility of hot water, if you want an extra coffee or tea, and they let you take a glass, cup or serving dish if you need to. Best thing about this hotel is the location, a few steps away from the river, and the most important streets of Valdivia. There is plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, and supermarkets around, especially if you take the corner street: Caupolican. Personnel was really friendly, always Mrs. Cristina with a smile on her face. So nice. Free wifi, and breakfast stupendous: nice fresh bread, cheese, ham, a little piece of cake, hot milk, coffee, tea, juice... Excellent! My recommendation for travellers: Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap, and blower.

Got to Valdivia early and called the Hostel and they took us in about 10 am. Took a family nap and hit the town. Good size room with four beds (in two room section second floor, room 7 I think) for a family of four. Paid about $80 dollars for the night, which is a good value compared to the $220 we paid at Hotel Dreams a few days later. Place is an old house converted to a hostel. Place is old but well maintained, wooden floors (you hear all the steps if you are a light sleeper). Service is limited (towels, breakfast) but okay. If you are here for a quick breakfast and a place to sleep this is good and a good value. About three blocks from downtown and one block from river front costanera. Staff was friendly and attentive.

This place is terrible. I have to say after a lot of emails we did get our money back . We had a family room ,even though there was only 2of us ,but we paid the price for a family room... not a problem . Arrived and the lady who greeted us was lovely. Towels and bedding were clean but the room was absolutely filthy. We were told we could leave but having driven a very long way we decided not to. ||We went out for a meal and some wine . When we got back ,the owner was waiting for us. Oh my what a terrible offensive ,rude man . ||I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world but I have never experienced a landlord like this. ||He accused us of being drunk, shouted at us for complaining. ||The whole hostel looks like no money has been put into it since the 80s. ||Take a look at my photos.. you did not want bare feet in this room. This is the first time I have ever written a bad review about a hotel . It took me a long time to decide wether to write this or not. I decide others should not pay to stay here.

You could do worse. Overall, this place was fine. One of my biggest gripes was the young couple looking after the place. In particular, the young man wasn’t the most welcoming fellow. He seemed annoyed when having to answer questions from guests or do anything. At times, he was combative and audibly exasperated over having to simply do his job of dealing with guests. He was obviously more interested in surfing the net and sitting with his girlfriend.|| My Chilean girlfriend and I had a second floor room with a private bath. The size of the room was adequate for two. The bathroom was clean. There was wifi in the room. The included breakfast was the typical crap served in hotels in Chile and Argentina: Bread, jam, and coffee or tea. ||Location is good. Value is good. The hotel/hostel situation in Valdivia isn’t that great. This place is better than many of the others out there.

The hostel is nice, it's comfy, all wooden, doubles have private bathroom. Romms are clean, I am not sure wether the kitchen is a community kitchen or not, didn't look like it, but, as usual in Chile and Argentina, the Hostel offers a simple, but good breakfast which is included in the price. It is not too far away from the river and the centre of town. Enjoy ur stay here!

Booked a couple of nights here after seeing the positive reviews on TA. At the price I was not expecting too much, but even then I was thoroughly disappointed!||||The room was dirty, the bathroom had not been cleaned after the previous guests. Hair and grime around the sink etc. Then when I pulled back the sheets on the bed, gravel and stones in the bed! One can only ask 'how .....' ||||I only stayed there because it was evening and didn't want to sleep in the car, but I did get on the phone to find an alternative for the following night.

We paid 42 USD for the night for two people. Very good location, close to the river and the city center. Clean sheets and towels, good breakfast. Sometimes you have to wait a bit in the reception for one to come. At night, a short walk from Calle Esmeralda and eve shorter for Costanera.

Yelp
This place is run by such a nice lady, who was patient and understanding as I attempted to communicate with my terrible Spanish. The room was very clean, comfortable beds, and had a TV and a private bathroom. Decently priced. The hostel was also very well-located, a short walk both from the center and from the bus station in a quiet neighborhood. The riverbank is a couple blocks down and we enjoyed taking the "long way" to the fish market, pleasantly strolling on the riverside promenade. My one complaint is the walls are a little thin, at least in the bedroom on the first floor. We were right next to the main door, and some rowdy drunks decided to hang out for a while right outside the door around 2am and were very noisy. If you are concerned about noise, I recommend getting a room on the second floor.
