Da Cesare

"As the Florentine lily on the glass at the entrance implies, the specialities of this place are Tuscan in origin as well as seafood. Friendly atmosphere, ample wine list." - Michelin Inspector

I came on a Sunday night and it’s was relatively busy and the food was delicious 😋 I had the lamb and the white fish. As an appetizer we got bruschetta and its was honestly the best tomatoes I have ever tried as an American. I also got the lemon cake which was divine. It was fresh and light highly recommend. The service was amazing very lovely and authentic Roman and Italian restaurant.

Our first visit to Rome was ended with high note, both ancient artifacts as well as Roman cuisine. We stay near San Angelo Vatican, the other side of Tiber River. We tried pasta & pizza for couple of days we decided to look for something different and closer to our Asian taste buds… right behind San Angelo castle and a short walking distance, we found this Forno a Legna Seafood restaurant (which said wood/cgarcoal grilled). The rating & review from Google gave us an assurance, feeling thrilled, we went ahead. The crave for seafood does add to the score, genuinely, I gave 5star for all 3 attributes. The Seafood was grilled and with strong charred fragrance especially the grilled calamari, the seafood risotto was so Al Dante with generous scallops and not too wet (this is the least moist Risotto I ever tried, but trust me, we were impressed). The staff Bernadette who served us throughout, recommended a local Lazio Chardonnay, match perfectly with the seafood, and she really attentive & courteous. We were totally satisfied and in fact we return the next day for second visit. And the night stroll at the scenic San Angelo Castle after the dinner made this weekend excursion end with perfect score.

Just ate at Hostaria Da Cesare, it was a true Italian dining experience. Beautiful decor, friendly staff, and incredible food, our best yet in Rome. This is a locals restaurant, we came here to get away from the tourist type places. We started with fiori de fritti, it was light with a delicate crust with mozzarella inside. Then I had steak slices with potatoes, perfect, and the potatoes tasted like my nonna used to make. Also, great bread and wine to go with our meal. For desert, I had a pear tart, which was amazing. So glad we found this place.

Roman staples: cacio e pepe & carbonara done well. Slightly on the saltier side and very very al dente but still absolutely delicious. Highly recommend

We came here on the 1st day we arrived in Rome after travelling in the other parts of Italy for roughly 2 weeks. We ordered the cacio e pepe and carbonara. They were the best pastas that we have ever eaten on our trip and in our lives. The texture of the pasta is amazing. We also tried other famous and critically aclaimed restaurants that are famous for the carbonaras and cacio e pepe but none were as good as Hostaria Da Cesare's. We loved it so much that we returned on the last night in Rome, and we ordered the same dishes.

I recently dined at Hostaria Da Cesare Bottega Storica and had a very enjoyable meal. The food was truly excellent. Food is simple yet rich in flavor. The service was attentive and friendly. The setting is charming and has a historic feel. It was still a pleasant environment. Overall, a great place for delicious Italian food with authentic flavors!

Google
Extremely disappointed with the restaurant. Overpriced and overrated. The food was not bad but definitely NOT worth the price and hype. Food tasted and looked like any other cheap meal you could get anywhere else. Basically tasted like the takeout you’d get back in college

We discovered the restaurant absolutely by accident on a trip to Rome with my friend. What was our surprise that this is a well-known place with Michelin star. We were deeply delighted with each dish, serving and also the special attention of each waiter and staff in the restaurant. Special thanks for the pleasant impression and Tizian's sensitive attitude. Now this place is another reason to return to this city, I really wanted to stay in Rome more to come back here to eat. The restaurant combines excellent cuisine, a variety of dishes and quality products, an incredible atmosphere that helps you immerse in Italian life with beauty, history and comfort, escape from the summer heat and get gastronomic pleasure. We visited this place even 3 times during the trip, each time trying out different dishes, everything was fine from pasta, meat to oysters and seafood, and also with reasonable prices. We were especially pleased with the fresh porcini mushrooms. Thank you very much!

Yelp
We had eaten here 7 years ago and it was...average. But with limited options this trip, our concierge recommended we go. It was singularly the WORST meal I've had in Italy. The featured squash blossoms were more batter than blossom and had absolutely no taste. My wife ordered veal that needed a chainsaw to cut through. I ordered the Roman Cacio e Pepe...it was heavy, over seasoned and poorly cooked. The waiter asked if we wanted bread. Silly me, I'm thinking this is a part of a good meal...here was an easy €5 addition to the bill. Fool me once. Fool me twice. Never again. I should have just gone around the corner to Ristorante Ambasciata Di Capri and let Mário Tarantino use his 4th Generation of cooking with love take over. Now that's Amore!

Yelp
Nice friendly restaurant. We ordered the suppli, salmon carpaccio tasty but similar to all other restaurants. The fish balls in maranara were delicious; also had the Milanese (vegetarian) good taste; the veal scallopina which as good; the tagliata steak with black Tartuffo delicious; Tiramisu very good, creamy!

Yelp
I dined here on a recommendation from Chef John Nocita, the founder of the Italian Culinary Institute in Calabria. When an Italian Master chef suggests a restaurant for others, he is putting his reputation on the line. This was an excellent recommendation. The decor is old school, as the restaurant has been around since the 60's, but don't let this fool you. The food was absolutely perfect from start to finish, The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact that there were only two of us, and that I could not order more. Hostaria Da Cesare is a must in Rome!

Yelp
In short, this restaurant pissed me off a bit. We were sat outside Quickly which was great. Unfortunately our server either hates English speaking people (including the aussies and brits near us) or he found out his gf was cheating on him. Either way, excuse my french.....err, italian, this guy was a di*k. I asked him for a glass of red wine and he said they had a glass of tuscany and said it was good...it wasnt. When our food came out he slammed the bowls down and walked away without saying a word. Wine glass empty and never asked if I wanted another. The food was great, but the service/waiter needed an attitude adjustment. Trust me when I say there were many tables that felt the same.

Yelp
Gave us the wrong bottle of wine, and then overcharged us. Charged for bread too. Stay away if you are a tourist. If you check the other reviews on Google you will see a pattern. A pattern of ripping tourist off.

Yelp
My husband and I dined here on a recommendation of "Fodor's favorite" (Rome edition). This place is near the Vatican City. It was hard for us to find since the streets of Rome was so confusing (still we love Rome=)). The food here is great. My husband ordered the florentine steak and a side of roasted potatoes. The steak was huge and cooked to perfection (medium rare). I had the lobster and shrimp pasta (which I gobbled up...lol it was delicious) and of course we had the house wine. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Rome!!

Yelp
This is a great restaurant with fantastic dinner. We were very pleased with the service and our food was great. Pasta and fish were great. We'll definitely go back to try their other dishes.

Yelp
Local steak house of Prati area. Does not open for dimmer until 19:30. Not Texas style steaks but Italian style, different but very good quality. We have some specials, pastas, steak with black summer truffles and wine. They have a large selection of wine. Overall large menu with pasta, steak and fresh seafood. Try the specials if you go. Everything was done very well. Tables have cloth, water and wine glasses that all are monogram with restaurant so you can see attention to detail everywhere. High quality ingredients and great service. You pay for that quality as you would expect.

Yelp
We ate here due to the one "Fork & Spoon" rating from Michelin...the quality we expect from a one "Fork & Spoon" rating was not our experience. The pasta was average, the vegetable side was cold, and the fried anchovies lacked a crisp clean presentation. In short a very basic restaurant that night for Rome nothing worth going out of your way for...
