Hostellerie du Grünewald

"Fresh, healthy food, but also deliciously generous. This very pleasant bistro with a fine terrace provides an opportunity to sample simple ingredients devoid of unnecessary frills. Save room for the scrumptious desserts. Elegant guestrooms ensure sweet dreams." - Michelin Inspector

I had lunch there with a friend. Good food, great service. I have lactose intolerance and I usually ask discretely about the ingredients. In many places I see eyes rolling but here they voluntarily proposed to give me a non lactose version of what was on the menu. Super nice. I will definitely go back!

Very mixed experience. It is indeed a cute hotel on the outskirts. Room clean. We got the standard which is very small. Breakfast ok (but flow of buffet poor). No Intel that our room would be over-the-road and that there was no lift. We were fine, but mobility-restricted guests should check. Comments about service are interesting - and varies from person to person. It feels like a fancy restaurant with rooms tacked on to make some extra.

My boyfriend and I first stayed at the big H hotel +-1km further down the road. THIS hotel is 1000x better. It was clean, friendly staff, cozy, close to the train station, easy parking at the station (free). We would definitely come again. Please be aware that you will need a creditcard or cash to pay a €150 deposit.

Cute hotel just north of the city. It’s a simple train ride from Luxembourg central (nearly direct), to have stops in the center of town, take but 10 which is about a block away, over the train tracks and across from the hospital. Hotel was cozy, we opted for the midsized room which was plenty spacious and comfortable. It’s a good quiet spot and you can go north on the train to explore other areas of Luxembourg. The breakfast was more than satisfactory, but I was expecting a little more per some of the reviews I read. All in all, a good economical choice of hotel.

A Five-Star Symphony of Flavors and Hospitality at Hostellerie du Grünewald 🌟 The Hostellerie du Grünewald delivered an unforgettable evening that danced between refined gastronomy and heartfelt hospitality. We opted for the menu de dégustation, paired with a crisp bottle of Luxembourgish Crémant, and every course was a revelation. 🍃 Setting & Atmosphere Seated on the stunning terrace, surrounded by lush greenery and the soft hum of summer, we felt instantly transported. The ambiance was relaxed yet elegant, with our dog Toffee warmly welcomed—a rare and appreciated touch. He received even his bowl 🥣 with water 💦 and treats! Woaw, what a great attention to the guest underneath the table. The staff struck the perfect balance of professionalism and humor, making us feel both pampered and at ease. Our waiter checked in frequently, always with a smile, ensuring everything was just right. 🍽️ The Culinary Journey Each dish was a masterclass in flavor, texture, and presentation: - Mise en bouche: A delicate broccoli bite elevated by an airy almond espuma, an intriguing and fresh start. - Tuna Tartare: Ruby-red thon rouge paired with marinated turnip and kombu, brightened by yuzu vinaigrette and ponzu gel. The salicornia added a briny crunch that tied it all together. - Lobster Ravioli: A standout. Silky pasta enveloped sweet lobster, infused with Thai aromas—coconut milk, lemongrass, and ginger—creating a dish that was both exotic and comforting. - Grilled Gambas: Perfectly cooked prawns with a bold rouille, vibrant parsley coulis, and confit fennel. The bouillabaisse reduction and marinated tomato added depth and Mediterranean soul. - Veal Mignon: Wrapped and roasted to perfection, served atop smoky eggplant caviar with tahini, bursts of pomegranate, and a herbaceous yogurt. The veal jus with sumac brought a tangy finish that lingered beautifully. - Cheese Course: We gracefully bowed out—already blissfully full. - Pastry Chef’s Creation: A sweet finale that was as artful as it was delicious, though the surprise element deserves to remain a secret for future guests. 🥂 Final Thoughts From the first sip of Crémant to the last bite of dessert, this was a dining experience that celebrated Luxembourg’s culinary finesse with global flair. The service, the setting, the food—all impeccable. Hostellerie du Grünewald earns every one of its five stars, and we’ll be back soon—with Toffee in tow.

Just a good hotel that’s good value for money Positives: - Location: only 10 minutes by bus (which js free) - Parking: we could park our car behind the hotel - Room: clean and there’s place to put your open suitcase. Blindings can make the room quite dark, which is nice when you’re used to that. Also nice, earplugs were given. - food at the restaurant is good Negatives: - Windows in room: would be better if at least the windows in the bathroom were blinded. Now it feels like people can look at you from the street - We didn’t need housekeeping as we were only staying 2 nights. When asked for new bottles of water the second night, we couldn’t get new ones. Had to buy a bottle from the restaurant for €4,50 - a mini fridge in the room would be nice to have some cold water in the morning

Very good location from the airport. 2-3 mins away from the train station so you could reach the city center less than 30 mins. The hotel has cozy atmosphere, but no lift and AC.But the Dyson fan was cool enough :)

Pleasant little Hotel, easy to get into the city of Luxembourg and to the the airport by local buses. The Hotel is quite noisy as sound travels through the building. The facilities in the room are very basic, for example you get one teabag of each type and no milk. There’s no coffee pod machine in the room either, which is fairly standard in most hotels these days. However, the breakfasts are great and the restaurant is first class, which is why I think most people visit the hotel.
