"In this peaceful Haute-Marne village that was close to General de Gaulle's heart, this fine 17C stone house is surrounded by beautiful grounds that blend into the countryside. Inside, however, not a hint of nostalgia! Neither in the contemporary decor, nor in the cuisine – not even in the set menu dubbed "Je vous avez compris!" (I have understood you!– from de Gaulle's famous speech). Chef Jean-Baptiste Natali has travelled extensively, from Marrakesh to London and New York. He cooks up a contemporary take on French fine dining (with frequent nods to his travels), working with fine produce such as langoustines, red mullet, lobster, Angus beef and calf sweetbreads. HHis broccoli with Galician sea-urchin, his langoustine and foie gras, his calf’s sweetbreads with citron butter and oyster risotto with lime are testament to his expertise. Comfortable, cosy guestrooms." - Michelin Inspector

"Not far from the cemetery where Charles de Gaulle rests, this pretty stone house with shutters captures the essence of the General's ‘France éternelle’. It has an elegant vintage decor (oak furniture, fireplaces, old fashioned bathrooms), as well as a garden and orchard." - Tablet Hotels

This review is only for the restaurant. I had lunch here with my family on a Sunday, we were quite excited as the restaurant has a Michelin star… but it was quite the oposite. It all went wrong, starting from the amuse bouches: one had a hair and another had a shrimp that was definitely expired. When sending it back I was told that I was the one who was wrong. Service was super slow and unatentive; we waited over an hour to get our starters which were also nothing special. Food was mising love, seasoning and a wow element that you can expect when paying 40€+ for a starter. I am very disappointed from this experience and frankly find it insulting that they have a star and charge such high prices for mediocre food.

Disappointing evening. We expected much more from a * restaurant Food looked good but was bland. No tension, no real flavours. This would never get a Michelin star in Belgium or Netherlands. Maybe the chef was out this evening? Was understaffed for sure, only 2 who ran front of house and they did a great job. The Sommelier and a friendly, energetic lady saved the evening. Also to be upgraded is the wine list. Not a great selection of Champagne and for Burgundy almost all was Louis Jadot. Prices way too high. Lot of work to be done here!

We stayed for one night in this restaurant with rooms and loved every minute. The room is very good value and very relaxing. The food was beautiful in the restaurant, but what set this stay apart was the service in the restaurant from the head waiter and all the staff. We ate in the restaurant on a Sunday night and had a fantastic experience. The food was incredible as was the wine. The prices are expensive but worth it. The waiter also took our photo and served us a glass of champagne to congratulate us on our engagement which was really thoughtful and a perfect way to end the night. I really recommend staying here for great food and a lovely night away.

For my birthday , my partner invited me to this amazing place. A beautiful building surrounded by a lovely garden and amazing view. The restaurant is stylishly decorated and very welcoming. We took the 4 course dinner and we enjoyed every bite of it, refined , surprising and just delicious! We will come back whenever we pass by in the region

The room we booked was spacious, so was the bathroom. We booked ahead because there are not many rooms.||Everythink was spic and spam clean; The view out of the room was very nice It reminded me of the movie "Room with a view" The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking was in a large garage and very safe.||||Breakfast was à la carte and had to be filled out on a piece of A4 paper our choices of the next day. Since, so the receptionist said, no breakfast buffet was possible due to COVID-19 regulations. Ok I can live with this;||However, next day, another hotel and also breakfast was served: buffet style!!! and the room where it was served was certainly not larger than the breakfast room in Montagne. Why oh why can one hotel do buffet and the other hotel cannot?||||One minor thing. on the invoice there was a charge of 4 euros for "santitary hotel conditions" - not a word was mentioned when I booked the room. It would have been nice that the receptionist had mentioned this during my phone call.

We stayed in a standard room - Chamber 9:L’ile Mysterieuse with a fantastic view over rolling countryside - this was in an outbuilding. Short walk to the main house. Delightful spot - quiet - and elegant. The dinner was superb - congratulations to the Chef. Breakfast equally delicious. This will be a favourite stopover.

Absolutely wonderful food. The Menu Marche was about 25 euros and we started with delicious amuse bouche followed by starter, main and pudding; all brilliantly prepared and served.||If your looking for somewhere special this is it.
