We stayed here on our way back from an Alpine car tour, where we stayed at some of the Leading Hotels group, so perhaps we had been spoiled. |I can’t remember the last time I arrived at a hotel and there was no reception, just a young waitress who couldn’t speak any English and seemed quite abrupt! |The property looks beautiful but is spoiled by the staff! The main waiter too was also very abrupt in his OCD manor and needs to learn to smile more, as everything we asked for seemed to be a problem or unavailable. It’s not unusual to have snacks with an aperitif is it? Some nuts or olives, as a small biting on with a G&T? Not here!|We were surprised by the menu however, for dinner there was a choice of a 4, 5 or 6 Course meal that could be paired with wine. Such delights as spider crab, lobster, canard and veal to name but a few choices. Nothing could be explained in English however, but after all we are in Belgium.|One recommendation I would make is to ensure separate areas for chain smokers and non smokers even outside on the terrace. Our evening was definitely spoiled by the fact a woman in a table in front of us seemed to smoke constantly. In the UK we have a smoking ban in public places, so we are not used to it! How on earth she could taste the food was a complete mystery! What a waste! And an insult to the chef! |It’s also a dog friendly restaurant, which is nice. Pity the dog was also being poisoned by the nicotine addict! |There was a bit of drama during the evening as a sheep in an opposite field had collapsed, they say with heat, but my guess is more likely that it choked on the smoke!|Service was slow, we were still waiting to be served at 11pm for our last 2 courses having started at 7.30pm!|BedRoom was small but adequate with fresh linens and a nice balcony. A small bottle of champagne in the fridge, which we enjoyed as it was our Anniversary holiday.|All in all a nice place to stay, but some feedback is required to improve the standards and service. Compliments to the chef!
