Not Worth the money. PRICEY! Crawfish $11 lb Crab $22 a cluster Shrimp $15 a lb. Shrimp and crawfish very small. Crawfish not cleaned at all. Each piece was full of gunk. Being from Louisiana this place is a NO GO. Okay flavor. Not a restaurant. A tent set up outside of Tikilas. March 2025

Google
Ordered the medium party platter came with 2 lbs of crawfish, 1 lb shrimp, 1 cluster of snow crab, 4 potatoes, 2 corns, 1lb of mussels for $100. I asked for the medium spice hot and buttered which was amazing in flavor! Everything was perfectly cooked to perfection. Will definitely go back!

Google
The seasoning was really good. I got the hot and butter spicy. The Crawfish is still a good size we ate on 9/9/23. However, in all of my ears eating crawfish this was my first encounter with pregnant Crawfish multiple of them were filled with eggs.

Google
If you are craving authentic Cajun-seafood that has its own unique and dynamic flavor, along with amazing customer service(which has been hard to find lately), and an atmosphere to match…just try it once! It’s was an unforgettable dining experience. I’m Hooked!!!

Google
Ordered the hot and buttered mild spice crab legs with potatoes and corn. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. HANDS DOWN BEST CRAB LEGS I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! Amazing flavor and it really did come out “hot and buttered” 😉😋

Beverly Scott

Google
Crawfish decently seasoned and marked at a fair price for this time of the season. ($9/lb) Same for the full order of shrimp ($15/lb). I wasn’t a fan of the $20/cluster of snow crab, even with butter and seasoning, especially at that price point- I didn’t finish it. We enjoyed the food, location and vibe overall so I would visit again and for recommendations, that goes only to the crawfish for this spot. The orders were served in plastic bags so I wasn’t able to grab a photo of our orders like other crawfish spots. (Sidebar: Opened at 1:00pm on Sunday, we arrived at 1:15pm, the first boil was not ready until 2:30pm so perhaps don’t go on an empty stomach. Limited parking)

Google
The crawfish and shrimp were DELICIOUS! Super flavorful. I’m already looking forward to more 😋 There is no signage which was confusing at first. Couldn’t tell where to order or where to go, but everyone was friendly and helped point the way. The orange blossom drink was delicious! The whole place is open seating, and they have some really cool setups. Sipped on a swing then ate our crawfish in another outdoor area. I highly recommend for a group of friends.

Google
I can easily say this place is the best crawfish place in town! Very juicy and flavorful! Must try!! They are right next to the bar, which is the best!

Yelp
I like the foods goodie's are here only one thing , you have to find the little sign but you gonna finally find them .

Yelp
Only outdoor seating. Seating is kind of shitty - tables are old and the only covered seating was swings.. there was lots of flies too. The food was yummy overall. The sauce didn't really penetrate the crab legs so they didnt have much flavor but the crawfish shrimp and vegetables/potatoes tasted good. The lady at the front desk taking my order added a tip to the total without asking me, which I only noticed when I checked my credit card statement and it was 15% more than the total she told me. I ended up getting bothered by the seating/flies and packed up to finish at home. I liked it but would recommend take out only. Also, they only give you those really big meal prep gloves to eat with so maybe bring your own disposable gloves.

Yelp
Unexpectedly found THE spot for steak and crawfish. Who would have known such amazing food could come from a pop up shop inside a bar?? Crawfish was huge, mussels were huge, corn, sausage, and potatoes were all cooked PERFECTLY. The seasoning was not too salty like other places I've tried in Houston. Also, I couldn't stop thinking about the steak after eating it once and had to come back a few weeks later. The steak had a rough outer crust but the inside was buttery soft at medium rare. I think they season the outer crust with curry powder or something which gives it a yellow hue and I'm obsessed with it. Tastes nothing like any other steak I've tried. Can't recommend this place enough!

Yelp
Seafood was soooo good ! The lady don't speak much English and it was kind of expensive but def worth it!

Yelp
I was looking for my first experience with the Crawfish boil of the season and tried this pop-up at Tikilas. My friends and I ordered the boil platter, and it was just ok. I would've enjoyed kore garlic and spice to it rather than just lots of butter. The staff was great, though super friendly. The vibe was cool because of where the location was associated. I would like to return and maybe try something else!

Yelp
Love this spot! We were looking for a great crawfish boil and found this popup! Things are made fresh and there are so many ways you can enjoy your boil! We opted to build ours since the there was just two of us! We got two clusters of snow crab legs, two pounds of live crawfish, some mussels, corn and sausage. We got spicy butter to flavor it all! It didn't take too long, and I think we were the first ones to arrive. We did grab some margaritas from Tikilas, which they share some space with. It was perfect! We had a few sips and then watched as they boiled the goods. Such a fun atmosphere! The boil was delicious and spicy! The crawfish were decently sized which I think was normal for the time in season. Definitely a great, casual spot for some tasty food! We also loved that they shared the space with Tikilas. The atmosphere was fun but still casual, and being able to eat anywhere between the two spots was pretty cool! Keep and eye on their Instagram for hours each week and fun specials they're running (they were doing steak night when we were there)! A must try!

Yelp
I was looking for a good seafood boil place in houston and this was one of the more reasonably priced spots so I gave it a try. It's not a full on restaurant in that you can't sit and eat inside but there are two outdoor sections attached to the bar next door (tikilas) where you can enjoy your food. Wish I had taken a pic of the menu but most of the options were $15 or less I believe. We got a pound of shrimp (automatically head off) and a cluster of snow crab legs ($15 each). You have to order corn ($1.50 each) and potatoes ($0.50 each) separately so our order came out to about $40. We got it hot and buttered with the spicy spice level. It took just a few minutes to be ready and boy was it GOOD. The shrimp were very big and they were deveined. The crab had 5 legs and the claw was pre cut for ease of eating. This was just enough food for two ppl to walk away satisfied. The spice level was good to be able to enjoy the whole thing without your moth on fire. There is a water station from the bar next door available in the back patio as well as a jenga set. Would recommend! PS: they have a small lot to park in and I believe they do to go orders. They also give gloves, napkins, and a container for shells

Yelp
this is some of the best seafood I have ever had! The vibe is amazing. Service is very friendly. We got the small party pack add quail eggs and an order of garlic noodles. We got the hot and buttered flavor medium and it was spicy but so good . We don't live down here but we will be back. I would post pictures but all we had left was empty plates. Go get ya some! Also to speak a little more about the service. We are down here two days after the hurricane. And they couldn't be any friendlier.
google avatar

Yelp
Hot and buttered was a great experience. Even though they don't have a permanent location the quality of the crawfish and mussels were amazing. Prepared to get a little down and dirty. Tekilas makes a great margarita and the atmosphere was fun.

Yelp
Only giving it 2 stars because they were good size and my friend was able to get some juicy claw meat out of them. Other than that, the main take away: SUPER BLAND, very salty and 100 % not worth it. I LOVE crawfish and had just heard about this place from "Eat like a Local." Never been to this bar even though I've passed it 100x; will come back to the bar for good drinks but never for crawfish. We came on a Sunday with no line. Ordered the 5 pounds for $45 (selling for $11 per pound ) with their signature hot and buttered flavor, medium level spicy. TERRIBLE! We ate less than half and stopped eating, even offered it to the bartenders and workers . So disappointing, where are all these 4-5 star reviews coming from?

Yelp
I'm a big foodie, so I've tried a lot or crawfish places and this is definitely top 3 in Houston for me. Flavor is on point for my personal taste. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food! The seasoning used for the crab legs, boiled shrimp, and crawfish is incredible. It was the perfect meal and experience for a casual Saturday night with friends.

Miss J.

Yelp
The place is really hard to find as there are not any signs, but it is the white building with the picnic tables out front, in the same parking lot at Tikila's. I came here the other day and got a pound of crawfish and some snow crab. The crawfish were clean and so were snow crab so that is a plus. The only cons I have are the difficulty finding the establishment and the FLAVOR. They gave me a sample of the garlic butter before I chose what I wanted because I asked the person if it was sweet and she kept saying yes and I was asking what flavors are not sweet because I don't like sweet food. Well I am glad they gave me a sample because the flavor or the garlic butter is not good at all, it's not sweet at all but SOUR, it tasted like it has siracha in it, I can't explain what else I was tasting but it is something I don't want to taste again. I ended up getting the cajun spicy flavor and that flavor was a TAD bit better than the garlic butter it still had the same sour note and siracha taste as the garlic butter, gross. The crawfish etc were on the bland side as well, so it was not the best experience at all because who puts siracha in crawfish and thinks that is ok lol. I eat crawfish a lot and this was probably some of the worst tasting crawfish I have had in Houston. Wouldn't go back as there are better places that give you spice and flavor. I like my seafood boiled with the flavor in the inside and not on the outside and this place did not deliver.

Yelp
Hot and Buttered is a popup vendor that serves its boiled seafood stuffs outside a Bohemian type bar called Tikilas. We discovered Hot and Buttered because of it being listed on Yelp in summer 2022 among the top 10 crawfish joints in Houston. That time we went with their Cajun flavor despite the name almost insisting we get the "hot n buttered" version. We rated it at the top of all our compared other spots for both flavor and spice level! We've since returned and gotten other items (snow crab) and Hot & Buttered continues to impress. Shout out to Tikilas also as it sets a wonderful scene for noshing on boiled seafood while sipping a libation and taking in the scenery.

Yelp
Service: 10/0! Very attentive and answered all of our questions. Food: 9/10 Crawfish special 5lbs/$40-- 10/10, Hot n Buttered, truly enjoyed this flavor! It was different but I'll def be back. Quail eggs-- 5/10; very different type of egg lololol not bad though but I wouldn't order it again. Corn: 12/10! Probably the best boiled corn I've had outside of my home! Soft but not mushy and full of flavor. Ambiance: it's on the outskirts of the bar Tikilas, and the place was super cute! They have swing seating, bar seating & another covered area.

Yelp
The flavors are killer good the food was fresh and hot , the outdoors was great loved it all

Yelp
Listen, the flavor (BOMB) customer service (AMAZING) The ONLY reason this gets 4 stars is, because ALL of our crab legs were half way full & for $19 a cluster... that's as very disappointing. Our pager wasn't working so by the time they realized & brought our food, the cluster & sides were cold. They quickly replaced it & even sent us a round of shots. Which is why the customer service gets 5 stars! We got the party pack (with a cluster) Then a cluster, with 2 potatoes, 1 sausage & 1 corn. VERY full of flavor! The crawfish were a little small with some straight tails, but it's still early in the season so that's kinda expected. Again, if I could rate 4.5 I would because it's very good. Just the price for crab legs was high & for them not to be full, was were I take the .5 star away.
google avatar

Yelp
Service: Lacking. Whoever worked register 6/10 with glasses/asian clearly doesn't enjoy working here. Not accommodating at all and didn't smile once or say you're welcome. Didn't mind it so much til she was the same after we came back twice. Food: I've been here before and liked the seasoning but today must've been an off day? Although the cf was big in size, it was definitely lacking in flavor. Even the mushrooms!!! + We got the house sauce (medium spice) and it was still pretty bland to us. Couldn't even finish 2lbs with my bf... Pretty disappointing.
google avatar

Julie P.

Yelp
GREAT prices and staff is SO friendly. The hot and buttered cajun sauce was good but I felt like there could be more depth & savory-ness to it, thus the one star off. I do think its the most well priced cajun seafood places in houston though. They have picnic tables you can sit at. Its kind of like a stand/food truck kind of set up. Although they also have a kitchen as well. Hard to explain but it's not a brick and mortar. Alot of people will take to go
google avatar

Alexsandra N.

Yelp
Delicious crawfish! Great price. We got 5lbs for $40. The crawfish were so juicy and had a good spice. If you want additional seasoning, they have some available. They were at Tikilas this last Sunday. I'm not sure if they're always there on Sundays, but you can follow them on ig for info.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
Hot and buttered shares a space with Tikila's so you are able to place your crawfish order and head inside and grab a drink order as well! I went here on two different occasions the first time we got two 5 pound batches of each flavor spicy. Originally I thought that my favorite flavor was the garlic butter, which is what I ended up getting the second time I went but I'm starting to think the hot butter flavor is the better of the two. The only reason I'm not for sure is because when they delivered our crawfish to the table, they didn't specify which flavor was which so we were left guessing. The overall flavor is good. The actual crawfish tails have flavor and that's what I love. I recommend leaving the crawfish inside the bags so that is sitting in the juice and remain hot. If you pour them out, they're not as flavorful anymore. Spicy isn't that spicy it's more of a mild medium. The crawfish wear a decent size. I wouldn't say they are the best, but definitely in the top. Definitely recommend giving them a try if you haven't.

Yelp
So before we even talk about the food; I just want to mention the customer service. We called around 8pm as we were coming from Surfside Beach heading towards Spring. All we knew is we wanted crawfish, crab, and other options. So we called and they said that last call is at 9 PM. They said to come in anyways; so we got there around 9:10 and they were still waiting for us! They cranked up the burners, they were very helpful with the selections. We basically ordered everything they had if it wasn't in the medium bundle. We ordered the hot and buttered with mild spice. The smell was just as equally amazing as the taste. When the plate came out we realized they gave us more then what we ordered to accommodate my daughter! (Again, customer service, attention to detail)! Did I mention they also give military discount? Always a return customer just for that. We rang in just under dollars. We added back what they gave us for the military discount. We got way more food then we paid for! Now to the taste..... AMAZING!!! It came out HOT and BUTTERY just like we asked. The mussels had a sweet kick and were delicious and perfect, the crawfish were cooked perfectly, HUGE (big enough to pop open the claws, FRESH... no dead floaters at all. Seasoning wasn't to spicy but enough to catch you off guard every other bite. I will return for sure and bring more peeps! Drinks and bathrooms are found next door at the conjoined bar. Parking is easier off the 610 east feeder road versus the long double sided slanted/tight parking in the back alley. Just look for the lit up palm trees with the tent in front of the building and the tiki swing seating area... For a Sunday night the vibes were plenty and full! This place wont disappoint!!!!!!
google avatar

Morgan W.

Yelp
This is probably the best crawfish I've had all season. Very well flavored. The medium spice level has a little kick to it so if you like it spicier, you might want to go hot. We got both flavors they offer and I like the garlics butter a little more. Both well flavored though.
google avatar

Yen Nhi N.

Yelp
One of the best crawfish around! And the house sauce is so good and the crawfish size is one of the best quality I've seen! Totally recommend crawfish lovers to give this place a try. There's a bar next door if you want to enjoy a drink and hang out. Con: parking is pretty bad here unfortunately
google avatar

emily c.

Yelp
Mardi Gras and I have to get myself some crawfish...yes my favorite go to place was sold out and this place is my second. Glad that I made here early they were sold out soon after I arrived. Fresh and flavorful today...the corn and potatoes were good too. Only a few were too squishy so I usually will not eat them. They are a mom and pop place so be prepared for a line. But don't forget to get some tacos and elote stands next to theirs.

Amy W.

Yelp
The service was great and all the workers were kind to me. The food was great maybe cause I LOVE seafood! The ambiance was peaceful and wonderful. But the 1 wrong thing was a few days ago before I went there I place a table just me and my kids and when I got there all the tables were out, when I told a worker and he was very rude to me and when my son asked for some candy the worker said no just because we were from a place around town! Rude! I'm glad he quit.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Wouldn't have known about this place if it wasn't for tik tok. Hot and buttered was rated the best crawfish place in houston and I would 100 percent agree! The hot crawfish is in the name HOT and BUTTERY. I had to order for second bc of how good it was. Make sure to add some mussel in there to enjoy the flavor even more. Parking can be difficult and It is outdoor bar eatery place.
google avatar

Amber T.

Yelp
This was everything I needed it to be. Everything was so damn delicious! The mussels and crawfish were my fav's for sure but everything was incredible! Droooooling
google avatar

Rosann M.

Yelp
The food at Hot and Buttered was amazing!! I've had a lot of crawfish, and this is now one of my favorite spots! The crawfish wasn't too salty and the perfect amount of spice. Also, the staff was really sweet, so that was appreciated!
google avatar

LaToya A.

Yelp
It was so so so good! Full of flavor. We got 5lbs of crawfish, corn and potato's. The Spicy Marg at Tikalas were delightful.
google avatar

Martin A.

Yelp
Soo it's actually a tent set up at another bar/pub. So if you think you can't find it, go to that place gps tells you. It looks like a hut. Now the crawfish were very good. Not spicy at all, so they're for everyone for sure. I like super spicy Decent flavor, just make sure you keep and eye so you good evening them hot. Since it's outside they can get warm quickly.

Zootsteppa D.

Yelp
I can easily say this place is the best crawfish place in town! Very juicy and flavorful! Must try!! They are right next to the bar, which is the best

Yelp
My husband and I were doing a turn around trip so that we could drop my mom back to Houston. We live in SA and always plan to eat when we go to Houston (much more selection then SA) So of course I turn to Yelp! Looked up Cajun crab boil and got HOT AND BUTTERED Don't be confused when arriving as we were...he actually has a tent set up and shares seating with the bar next door. Called Tikilas. You just order with him and he brings the food to you. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The food was amazing! We ordered the Medium party package which was perfect for my husband and I. Trust the spice levels as well. We did medium because most places I've tried medium is more like mild and so forth but not here it had a kick for sure. I drank like 3 waters trying to cool my mouth. My husband seemed unbothered but everyone's different. Must try for sure!!!
google avatar

Caylan J.

Yelp
Hot and buttered is my new go to seafood place. I loved the seafood here! The crab was large and fresh as were the crawfish. The mussels are delicious as well! The seasoning is a garlic butter with a twist. Hard to explain it but it's the best flavor! The spicy margarita went perfect with the food. Grab a table early at Tikila's because it does get packed. We got there around 3 and after that it got busy pretty quick. Expect a wait for food but it's SO worth it.
google avatar

Melinda R.

Yelp
I would describe myself, after splitting 10lbs of crawfish with my husband... as hot and buttered. This place is excellent. Easy parking, excellent outdoor space with ample shaded seating, quick and delicious crawfish... and cocktails from Tikila's next door makes for an excellent day date. April 1 2020 price per pound of crawfish is $9.95, and their signature 'hot and buttered' flavor is awesome. If you want to enjoy gorgeous weather, great cocktails, and delicious hot and buttery crawfish- this is your place.
google avatar

Kayla N.

Yelp
The crawfish boil flavors were okay, and the size is small to medium. We ordered crawfish, scallops, shrimps, quail eggs, sausage, and corn. We waited 45 minutes, and when it buzzed, the foods are warm but not hot. Overall, a disappointment.
google avatar

Vivian N.

Yelp
First I wanted to review their hot and buttered flavor. The lady there said it was citrus and garlic flavor. I didn't even see a speck of minced garlic and tasted 0 hints of citrus. It was just seasoning and alot of salt. I've had garlic citrus crawfish my whole life and this wasn't even remotely it. I did have to repeat my order twice to the lady and twice to the man so maybe there was just some very intense miscommunication but who knows. Very disappointed on the overly salty crawfish that was small and medium sized. The crab legs were over cooked to where the meat stuck to the shell and the quail eggs also over crooked to where the egg was chewy. To review their customer service - it was so terrible we almost turned around and walked off but we had already waited so long. We were the only ones in line and were told they would be with us in a min which was fine. But once a lady finally got to us to take our order she was obviously very distracted and finally gave her note pad to her co worker who in the middle of me speaking my order, he would walk off to help other customers, ie get their trash, grab them bibs...all while I was in the middle of talking to him. And alas our order was wrong. Definitely not. worth the $100 bill for just 4 lb of crawfish and some sides.

Sara P.

Yelp
Addicted! Best crawfish in town so far! I've taken literally everyone I know here & everyone loved it as well. Plenty of seating on a nice day, if they're not busy they'll bring the crawfish out to you. If it's busy they have a buzzer system they use. Crawfish is full of flavor & the price is decent.

Anan D.

Yelp
Tasty. Good service and in a good spot. Can't say anything bad and would go again if I'm in the area. Only got crawfish so my review kinda sux. Oh, if u like spicy... ask for Xtra spicy. The heat was a bit lacking.
google avatar

Peter N.

Yelp
Awesome customer service and food was delicious! Definitely my go to spot next time I am in town!
google avatar

Vee C.

Yelp
Very tasty, spicy and fresh! I would have given a 5 stars but we felt that we didn't get a full 5 lbs that we ordered! But still highly recommended though!

Myranda O.

Yelp
The food was ok, not the best and the seasonings were definitely lacking. We did end up having some missing items but they were fast at replacing them. I wouldn't go back again personally. Overall good vibes, the area is good but parking can be hard to find unless you want to pay.

Yelp
So Guys I suspect that sauce recipe came from a certain youtuber but I dont give a fat rat cause I aint gotta make it. Keep on giving it to us cause its finger licking good (literally im licking my fingers after every bite.) When recipes go up on the interwebs it belongs to the interwebs (insert evil grin) cause all your customers thank you. Im sure you will deny it and say "we came up with our sauce after trial and error" its okay WE DONT CARE!! Food- Crawfish was big that day and quite delectable and im not a crawfish person at all. Snowcrab was great of course with that sauce Hell to the yeah. Only thing I didnt like was My crab was somewhat waterlogged. As in boiled. They were in some sort of liquid too long which means when you crack it open it was mushy. Lets work on that. But either way SEE YOU SOON.
google avatar

Christien W.

Yelp
We tried their seafood at Tikila's and fell in love immediately. What's better than having seafood boil and drinking delicious cocktails? We love seafood, and this is one of the best in town. It's so buttery and garlicky and just simply delicious! We got the party pack which includes crawfish, shrimp, mussels, snow crab, scallops, quail eggs, corn, and potatoes. Everything was so flavorful and addicting.
google avatar

Amber W.

Yelp
The seafood is perfectly boiled! I will say it has a sweeter taste than I prefer, but that's just my personal preference. The food is very good and fresh.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Hot and Buttered used to operate out of Tikila's bar but is now moving into a storefront directly next door! Disclaimer: their seafood is Viet-Cajun style so if you are looking for something traditional you will be disappointed. I, however, am never disappointed when I order seafood here! The sauce that they use is ADDICTING. Crawfish are big and never frozen which means that they get them from areas other than Louisiana in the off season. Their snow crab is phenomenal and the sausage is surprisingly good! (I don't like sausage) The customer service is amazing from the whole team. If you go during peak times you could be waiting a while for your food. But, with a bar next door, what's the issue? Support local small businesses and give this place a try!
google avatar

Jamila C.

Yelp
We visited this place to satisfy our crawfish fix because our regular place wanted $12 per pound for tiny crawfish. No thanks! Well, the crawfish here was a nice size but we were not a fan of the flavor. Service was exceptional and we will definitely return, but not for the crawfish.
google avatar

Dallas W.

Yelp
Grabbed some crawfish from them over the weekend at Tikila's bar. When I order crawfish I usually get 2lbs and have no problem finishing it, but I actually struggled finishing theirs! I'm not sure if it's because their crawfish were pretty big or if their sauce is more filling? Either way I was still content! Their sauce is also extremely unique! It seems to me its a butter sauce with spice and Asian sesame? I found myself growing to like it more and more each time I had a bite. If you're looking for a new twist to your crawfish experience, their sauce will definitely do the trick! They use the same sauce that they cook their crawfish in for dipping, so just remember that in case your'e thinking you're going to get a different sauce! Overall I think they have really good crawfish, but I do think their prices are pretty hefty. 1lb of crawgfish is going to cost you $10, corn is $1 each and the potatoes are 50 cents each.
