Poolside Pork Tostadas and More Openings in New Orleans This August | Eater New Orleans

"Breathing new life into the former Fharmacy space at 2540 Bank Street, this eclectic Mid City spot brings an international fusion menu—think a loose meat burger with chili sauce, veggie curry, pork lumpia, and beef stroganoff." - Beth D’Addono

I saw this place mentioned in an article this past week and couldn't wait to try it. We were seated immediately and it didn't take long to have plates placed in front of us as the service was exemplary. The menu is small but eclectic with dishes from every cuisine. In addition, there are a few vegetarian/vegan options. The portions are large as we left completely satisfied and stuffed although the prices are a bit high However, it was worth it considering the quality of the food and service. The chicken adobo was amazing as was the curry. We loved it!

When I first heard saw the sinage of Hot & Soul I assumed it would be a soul food restaurant. The menu is all over the place. There’s American cuisine, filipino, along with Indian dishes. I went for happy hour. I had a the daily cocktail which was a Cuba libre daiquiri and saag paneer. Saag Paneer is creamed spinach topped with paneer (India cheese). The paneer looked like miniature, grilled toast. I didnt care for it. Overall the spinach was really tasty. It had a nice crunch to it with the onions. 🧅 The staff was friendly. The bartender was so nice to have shot o’clock. I wasn’t expecting it. But that made my Friday even better!!! I’m looking forward to trying an entry on my next visit.

This is the most exciting new restaurant in New Orleans! Super warm hospitality and over achieving food. I got the specials tuna ceviche with aji amarillo and coconut milk next I finished with the fancy tuna melt I’m not exaggerating I was blown away by both this will be my new go to spot for lunch/dinner.

My go-to place for the BEST fish chowder ever -- red, spicy, & delicious! And they're open for lunch. Stop by on your next trip to Trader Joe's, they'll give you a discount with TJ receipt :-)

Well seasoned meat-and-3 soul food spot. Plenty of delicious options to choose from. Friendly and quick service. I prefer elbow mac but the shells were fine, the fried catfish, smoked wings, and collard greens were the standouts this visit

Wonderful, super eclectic menu at this cute neighborhood joint . Today at Hot and Soul I had gnocchi better than any I've had in many years including a couple of trips to Italy. The fries and gravy were also to die for. Great cocktails. Good wine glass pour list. (Currently a Gruner Vetliner and a Torrentes are included on the white list!) To top it off the service is especially welcoming. Karlie the bartender is the cherry on the bread pudding!

Happy hour is great! Half priced beer, wine, and well drinks, and plenty of tasty snacks for $5. My husband also had the veggie burger and said it was one of the best he had. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was very relaxed, and we'll definitely be back.

A truly wonderful dining experience. Unique cocktails, excellent food, and a staff that’s both kind and very fun! The manchego toast is the most perfect starter that I will be dreaming about until next time!

Yelp
This place only really came on our radar when we started going to the new Trader Joe's. They had a very interesting menu so we decided to give it a try. Walked right in and was greeted and seated immediately. It's very intimate on the inside, it's got a long skinny bar with seating surrounding it. Started with their old "pho"shioned. I love an old fashioned and am fond of pho so figured couldn't lose. It was good and the flavors really blended well. Ordered the burger it had like a Big Mac flavor vibe, but with crispy loose meat. Also, ordered the lil salad it was light and refreshing not heavy on the dressing.

Yelp
I can't believe I live, like, seven houses away from Hot and Soul and it took me this long to try it. My work roommate and I went for lunch couple of weeks ago and followed up tonight for "Haffy Hour." Everything we had was stellar: Manchego Tortilla, Veggie Curry, TJ Dog, and oh my God, the Patatas Bravas! Maybe the best potatoes I've had since the Nonna-roasted ones I had in Tuscany. Everyone who works there is super friendly. The bartender is so invested in the place I thought she was an owner, but she's not. The real owner told my vegan-GF friend he'd modify just about anything for her. This little venue has struggled since Fharmacy Nola folded a few years ago, but Hot & Soul deserves to make it, and I'm gonna do my part to keep them going. You should to.

Yelp
We always see this place when we go on our weekly Trader Joe's run, so we decided to stop in. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. I decided to get the Floribbean Fish Chowder (small size) and a side of Crystal H's potatoes. The chowder is amazing! Some places have chowder on the menu and it's really brothy with little in it, but this one is full of deliciousness. It has tons of drum fish, potato and veggies in a spiced tomato broth. The small was large enough for me. The potatoes were great as well, crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft on the inside with a tasty dipping sauce. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Yes yes yes! So happy to have Hot and Soul in the neighborhood. The food and drinks are on an upper scale level, but the atmosphere is friendly and casual. We were in shorts and T-shirts and were comfortable which is perfect for us who prefer to walk to places. They had some really interesting cocktails to choose from, after discussing it with the bartender/server I decided to go with the beet and dill vodka cocktail, I don't remember the name but I really enjoyed it, it was something very different for a change and also a beautiful presentation. Food wise we ordered the Carlino loose meat burger and the TJ dog. We split them to be able to try each and both were delicious. We would probably order the same again but I see other things on the menu worth a shot the next visit. Do not miss out on the vegan chocolate cake, it was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. Can't wait to go back and try more. Welcome to the neighborhood Hot and Soul.

Yelp
We were a party of 8. Between us we easily ordered about 65 - 70% of the menu and shared it for us to all try. Mushroom Manchego Toast, Gulf Tuna Ceviche, Bahamian Fish Chowder, TJ Dog, Local Seared Tuna, Chicken Adobo, Beef Stroganoff, Squid Ink Spaghetti to say the least. It's is a taste sensory experience. The staff is super friendly, and helps to make suggestions. The libations were also delicious. I had the Old Pho-Fashioned. I highly recommend stopping by and can't wait to go back. Straight

Yelp
a friend who started working there told me about it. Me a two other friends went there yesterday evening and we just loved everything the food was amazing the staff was so friendly and sweet more people need to enjoy this lovely oasis on bank st. my friends both got the mushroom toast which they both were dying for I got a lose meat burger without a bun, the fries were addictive, couldn't stop eating them my friends got the mussels and fries and a salad both were delicious for dessert the restaurant very graciously gave us a dessert the tres leaches like pudding it was to die for I again had to stop myself lol. I have only left to add that the drinks with dinner were also beautifully crafted and made and tasted delicious. so if you're looking to try a new place hot and soul should definitely make that list.
