Hot Bennys

Do not waste your money at this place. The beneights are fairly flat, not puffed very well and not much dough in the middle. They don't taste like anything and have an old grease after taste. Between two of us we are 1 and a half before the after taste hit. Threw them out and left. Also, these are $7 for 3.

The beignets were good, but we decided to try the chicory coffee… and that was a fail. Five dollars straight to the trash! That said, the location is convenient, and I really liked the slightly retro vibe of the place.

Hot Benny’s on Canal Street is a gem for a quick NOLA fix! Their frozen coffee was a total game-changer—icy, bold, and woke me right up. The cappuccino was smooth and perfectly frothy, a great morning kick. The beignets? Soft, sugary clouds that melt in your mouth, though I wished they were a tad hotter. The vibe is lively with chill music, and the staff was super friendly, guiding me through the menu. Definitely a spot to hit for a sweet pick-me-up!

A friend suggested we go here instead of waiting in line for Cafe DuMonde, but we were pretty disappointed with Hot Benny’s. The guy that took our order was very unfriendly and just stared at us when we walked up. Then a little while later, he asked another customer to deliver two drinks to some people outside! And this guy wanted a tip from people when he wasn’t even doing his job?! Crazy. The atmosphere has something to be desired, inside and out. The beignets were pretty good, but the coffee was not good. I got the iced coffee & my husband got a cappuccino.

Had a craving for beignets after first experiencing them at Cafe Du Monde. Obviously coming here after there, they're not on the same tier, but they were pretty good, crispy and fluffy and would eat again. Prices are higher than other places for the size and you can only pay on card. I don't rate the service at this venue highly.

My daughter and I visited Hot Benny’s on a recent trip to New Orleans. The café has a very basic menu—mostly beignets, coffee, and quick bites—and while the outdoor seating was a nice touch, the indoor space was quite cramped with limited seating. She ordered the traditional beignets, and while they were generously dusted with powdered sugar, we found that three beignets for $6.25 were on the pricier side compared to other spots we discovered later. The beignets were smaller and didn’t offer anything special in taste or flavor. Overall, Hot Benny’s provided an okay experience, but we’d likely pass on returning in favor of other venues that delivered better quality and value.

Came to New Orleans for 3 nights. The first morning we visited hot Bennys since it was next door to the double tree hotel. The cafe au lait was superb and the beignets were delicious. Then came back few minutes later for round 2 of beignets. There were seating inside and a little garden area outside which was where we sat. The cafe au lait was $5 and the beignets were little over $6. Thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast at hot Benny’s.

OhEmGee!!! I am so happy I found Hot Benny’s. Lemme fill you in on the goodness I experienced. I have been in NOLA for a week and haven’t had any Dunkin at all. I’ve been forced to drink hotel coffee the whole week and I want to cry. 😂😂😂😂 As I was walking up the street I saw Benny’s and decided to give it a try. The shop is super cute. Small, cute, lots of natural light and the store is super clean. I walked up to the counter and placed my order. Though it wasn’t my usual Dunkin order I was excited to try something new. I ordered a “Benny’s Brew” which is the famed New Orleans chicory coffee. Now, don’t judge me but I had to add in a few pumps of Vanilla. The way the shop is set up, you add your own cream and sugar. As such, I walked over to the counter, added my milk and sugar and took my first sip. Whew! Is what comes to mind. The brew was fresh. The flavor profile was exciting and def has a twist. According to my research the twist is the best part of the coffee itself. “Unlike coffee being made from the coffee beans; chicory coffee is made from the roots of the flowering chicory plant. This blue flowered plant is a part of the dandelion family and can be found in several parts of the world.” I had no idea about the origin of the coffee. I am so excited that I had the chance to experience the coffee and partake in a part of the culture. Oh yeah, you know I had to order me some beignets. Babeeeeeeeeeeeee!! The beignets were the BOMBBBBBBBBB Hot. Fresh. Flavorful. Crispy on the Outside. Chewy on the Inside. And most of all, they hit the spot. Flavor wise, as I am from up North, they put me in the mindset of like a mini Fried Dough but with a Puff Pastry aesthetic. Yasssssssssssss. These are def a win!! Overall, my experience at Hot Benny’s was ahhhhhhhhhmaaaaaazinggggggggg and I will def be back before I leave. LoL!!!! If you’re near Hot Benny’s, Get you some!
