Google
I had a facial and scalp treatment with Alyah and it was an amazing experience! Alyah was very kind, asked questions along the way to make sure I was doing okay. This was my first ever facial and I felt so at peace, calm and relaxed (I actually ended up falling asleep during my scalp treatment!). I will be back and I strongly recommend!

Gabriella Y.

Google
Was gifted a spa day pass after delivering my baby and got a massage with the scalp treatment add-on. The massage was a complete factory reset on my body and I feel amazing. Definitely the best massage I’ve ever had, no exaggeration!!! I became a member that day. I am coming back. Religiously.

Sharoya M.

Google
I had an amazing massage with Cita! She took her time and was very attentive to my needs. Overall the service was great from stay to finish! Highly recommend. I will definitely be back!

This is my third time coming here! Each time is such an incredible experience! The facials and massages are fantastic. I feel like I am getting the royal treatment each time! I love this spot such a hidden gem!

Google
I have been a member for a year. Best deal in town. More importantly, Damien has been by steady pick. I won’t even try anyone else. He is, in my experience, thE best massage therapist I have ever had. I have been to many places over the years, in other states as well. Thank you Damien. What you do for me holistically and practically is simply excellent.

Alyah did my facial, she is amazing! I was a little late and I made the phone call and they still let me in! Alyah is very professional and she asked your need and concern, and she takes care of skin!

Google
I found Hot Hands Massage & Facial Spa through a daily deal site. It was one of the few spas offering a full spa day with massage, facial, scalp massage, and leg massage. I purchased a voucher as I needed a last-minute spa day in the city. Booking a reservation on their website was easy, and I found several openings for the next evening. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the hostess and the friendly owner, who is also a massage therapists. They were engaging and accommodating. Although the esthetician had left for the day, preventing me from redeeming the facial part of my voucher, they booked me for the next day, which was fine. My therapist arrived a few minutes late due to an issue, but I didn't mind the slight delay. The foot massage was pretty good, but the overall massage was comfortable and relaxing. Almost went to sleep. The therapist asked about my problem areas and the amount of pressure to apply. She was friendly and knowledgeable, explaining different techniques and the reasons behind my problem areas. The next day, I returned for the facial, my first ever, and it was fantastic. My face felt the best it ever has, and the esthetician, who examined my face under a microscope, was very friendly and personable. Overall, I highly recommend Hot Hands Massage & Facial Spa for a full spa day. It's conveniently located near Center City and major highways, with plenty of different services and availability.

Yelp
Had booked two 60 min facial with scalp massage for me and my hubby as a mini moon treat. Booked back to back 2 hours with Melissa and let me tell you this woman worked her magic!!! Our skin has been great so we may have been easier clients to work on. Every product used worked great on our skin. I'm looking forward to booking other things like massages in the future. The place is relaxing and customer service was 110%! I'd highly recommend and already told other people about this spot. They're on Groupon too and worth trying out!

Yelp
Great massage every time i go. Very friendly and nice, relaxing space. I have had facials here before too and those were always good.

Yelp
I was only in town for 48 and when I called to make a last minute appointment, the owner was able to make be an appointment prior to me leaving. I was appreciative of the warm welcome and service. I hope to visit again. Thank you.

Yelp
I am not one to write a review unless I have a really bad or really good experienc. This 90 min massage with an additional 30 min reflexology with Damien was over the top excellent. I had just completed a chemotherapy appointment and needed some pampering and stress relief. Damien was delightful, listened to my concerned and tailored my experience accordin to my needs. instead of a bolster for your knees and ankles he has a water-filled bolster that is either heated or chilled. It helped being comfortable. I really enjoyed the scalp masseage. I get A LOT of massages and this was the best yet. I also wanted medium pressure and it, too, was perfect. For the reflexology I chose the champagne lotion and it was Devine. It is rare I leave a massage thinking..."that hit every area I needed." But this experience exceeded expectations. Damien takes pride in his business and his work. My massage was 2 hours... that is a lot of work for a masseuse but he was incredible and even went over on time. I used a Groupon for this experience but will be back without a coupon. Worth the money !!

Yelp
I've had a couple of massages here with a Groupon and it was great. Scheduling is made easy via the online portal and the masseuses are ready for you as soon as you walk in. My favorite masseuse was definitely William. He was intentional and targeted the areas I let him know needed special attention. The spa is clean and relatively small. The only complaint I have is the walls are a bit thin and I could here employees talking to each other which was a bit disruptive but I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Great quality for the price! I went to Melissa for my facial and absolutely loved my massage from Cita. They have a monthly membership option for $59 which includes 1 massage or facial.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful! The place gave me really relaxing vibes and it was really comfortable while getting the facial because the bed was warmed up! But the facial routine was really basic (just applying multiple products without any facial massage or extraction). It's really hard to schedule an appointment with them because of COVID, so schedule your session ahead of time.
google avatar

Yelp
Best massage I think I have ever had. Very relaxing. Fallon was fantastic. She is friendly, accommodating and totally down to earth.
google avatar

Yelp
The owner Damien went above and beyond when my mom called from out-of-town to buy a gift card for a massage & a facial as a gift for me. He personally mailed the gift cards to Ohio and even followed up to make sure she had received them. I had a facial with Janice, who asked lots of questions about my skincare issues & my existing routine. She educated me through the whole facial what she was doing & what I can do for myself in the future to improve my skin. I also had a massage with Kate who was absolutely amazing. I'm new to the Philly area so we chatted through my massage about restaurant recommendations and more. The staff here are professional, friendly, and really go above and beyond for their clients. This is an amazing locally owned business that deserves 5 stars!

Yelp
Merissa did such an amazing job with an intro massage and targeting muscle tension from stress. So thankful to have finally found an awesome massage place in Philly after years of mediocre massages. She totally rocked it, I walked home so happy and thankful! See y'all soon again.

Yelp
Terrible, horrible, not good, very bad. The owner Damian is rude and bad mouthed a veteran. Deplorable behavior and good luck trying to get a refund when their massage therapist cancels your appointment. I had to dispute the charges with my bank after 3 months of getting the run around. The staff claimed they didn't know how to complete a refund and it escalated to the owner who flat out refused. Brutal. Check out the text the OWNER sent me below...and I booked it through his website, not Groupon! He is a real Gem

Yelp
I found a great deal on Groupon for a 90 minute hot stone massage so I decided to give this place a try. When we arrived, the receptionist was warm and welcoming. We had made our appointment when our groupon was valid but couldn't get an appointment until after it expired. This was no problem though and our Groupon was accepted without hassle. My therapist was Damien, who also happens to own the facility. He was polite and professional and took the time to learn more about my needs. The amount of pressure applied was appropriate and I felt thoroughly relaxed in the room's soothing atmosphere. Overall it was a great experience! I hope to return soon.

Yelp
I had my first experience with Hot Hands this past weekend. I had a Groupon for a 90 minute massage with Deidre. Deidre was very accommodating and professional. Getting a massage during this pandemic is a little stressful, but Deidre and Hot Hands took many precautions so I felt safe. Upon entering there was a station set up with disinfectant, hand sanitizer, wipes, masks, as well as policy and guidelines. All staff and clients must wear masks. Additionally, I didn't have enough change for the parking meter, so the owner, Damien, went out to my meter and put in additional quarters! In the massage rooms there were fans to circulate the air as well as more hand sanitizer. Deidre asked when type of pressure I preferred and my problem areas. The room was dark and very relaxing. Deidre gave a great massage and made me feel comfortable and respected the entire time. After the massage, I decided to become a monthly member because I knew I would be back! I know massages aren't for everyone, but I always feel the physical benefits when I have a good one. This was my first 90-minute massage and I'm sure will not be my last! I wish I took pictures, but will during my next visit. Sometimes I don't want to be that weird person taken photos of an establishment during my first visit. Overall, I recommend Hot Hands for anyone looking for a new massage place. They typically do facials as well, but not during this time. Check out their massage specials or their Groupon for a great deal! Tell them Alicia sent you.

Yelp
Great service!! Boyfriend and I came in for couples massages and Damian and Dedra took care of us , awesome service! Felt completely safe during these trying times . Damian showed perfect customer service and very insightful . Definitely will be coming back! Also got some great perks! Definitely check him out you won't be disappointed

Yelp
my experience took place several months ago. I've had plenty of massages, but this one was definitely the worst. i was placed with a younger male masseuse who clearly had no idea what he was doing. he spent the session pressing hard into various spots on my back and butt with rough cuticles that scratched my skin and i left with more discomfort than when i entered. in reflection, i am very uncomfortable with the amount of time he spend on my butt and feel like i was taken advantage of in that vulnerable situation. will never be returning.
google avatar

Jess F.

Yelp
I had the most unprofessional and totally ridiculous experience at this establishment yesterday. I could tell my masseuse was on her cellphone while giving me a massage but I tried to ignore it hoping I was wrong until I caught her on it during the massage! She argued with me (in a spa! to her client!) As I waited for my refund at the front desk the unprofessionalism continued as she bad mouthed me down the hall to a coworker as clients waiting in the waiting room could hear them crystal clear. I tried to give this place a chance because of the affordable prices and convenient location but I should've known better with their numerous bad reviews, many specials always being offered and being on Groupon. The staff begged me to not leave a bad review but i just can't believe this is how they run a business. I won't be going back here and suggest others to check out other spas in the city.

Yelp
I love a good massage, so I was excited to get a spa treatment groupon as a Christmas gift. In particular: the chocolate scrub from Hot Hands. I've never been scrubbed before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I have, however, been to plenty of spas so I was hoping that part of it involved a massage. Glad I was right! I arrived about 8 or so minutes before my scrub. I filled out their new client paperwork and then waited a little while. My appointment was at 5:45 and it was closer to 6pm when I actually was greeted by Damien. I'll let that slide because he was very friendly. After I got undressed, he got started right away. I will throw in, for what it's worth, that I was expecting a knock before he came back, but instead he just entered. No big deal because I was already on the table, but it could have been a surprise if I spent any longer disrobing. The massage itself was wonderful. I enjoyed the exfoliation part, and I found that he was better than most at applying just the right pressure. I have regretted a few swedish massages in the past because I'm a bit ticklish and it just never seems that enjoyable or relaxing. This, however, was great, despite that he didn't exfoliate my back with the sugar. After he went over everything once with what felt like oil, he applied the butter cream chocolate lotion. It smelled great and I left smooth and glowing! I hope to come back here as they have some creative treatments that I don't generally see at other spas. The chocolate scrub really worked out nicely.

Yelp
Diedre is the best! Just a few minutes into my massage I felt my problem areas loosen up. Book an apt with her!
google avatar

Ju L.

Yelp
Hot hands always delivers. This was our second time getting the couples' massage and we were not disappointed. It felt like the focus of the massage was largely on my back, which is fine, because I guess I needed it, from the amount of knots I did not realize I had. I would say weeknight and weekend reservations are hard to make, so make your reservations as soon as possible.
google avatar

Khalimah B.

Yelp
The owner is very unprofessional!! Just look down at the response he replied very unprofessional. His response sums up my negative review. Whether I purchased a Groupon or not you decided to put your business on Groupon at a discounted rate. Your a liar and very unprofessional the negative response was so unprofessional and unnecessary. I asked for my money back then you tried to upgrade the service.

Yelp
Absolutely GREAT service and the wonderful experience!! This is a very small South Philly Spa - so it is not a huge establishment with lots of space or tons of bells and whistles, BUT, it is most definitely a place of exceptional service and massage therapists. It is neat and clean and very inviting. My massage therapist was Deidra and she was absolutely outstanding. She was very professional and focused on making sure my needs were met. The room was the right temperature and the atmosphere very relaxing. I am so glad I decided to patronize this small business. They took extra safety measures for COVID and were very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend the Spa and Deidra. This was the first of many appointments to come.

Yelp
I love this place! I've tried a couple of the other places in the area and Hot Hands is the spot that I come back to. The massage therapists are very pleasant and easy to talk to especially when they're figuring out what I want from my experience. I started seeing Damien as my regular guy and each massage has been better than the last. He really puts everything he's got into each massage! I was hesitant to start the membership since my work schedule gets a little hectic. But they accommodated me when I couldn't get in for a couple months leaving me a couple of sessions that I eventually combined (into 90 mins massages instead of 60! ) or gifted out to friends and family. The place is adorable and cozy. The receptionist is always super nice and makes it easy to schedule my next appt. I definitely always look forward to my next visit!

Yelp
My first visit was today with my husband. We had a couples massage but, unfortunately and also understandably we had to be in separate rooms bummer. Now... I am not a fan of massages (they hurt) and I don't seem to get much out of. I also am a bit self conscious about my body and not ok with being nude in front of strangers even under towels etc..... I really enjoyed myself!!! Surprise surprise! This place is clean and peaceful. I like that it has a personal touch that the larger known franchises often times lack! Also with Hand in the title... My masseuse was Kate. She made me feel comfortable and safe. She is quite talented and very personable. I will as able to relax and unwind all while catching up on motherhood, South Philly, fitness and more! I laughed so hard at times. I know some may like a quiet time experience but as a stay at home mom of 3 kids some adult conversation is gladly welcomed! It made me even that much more comfortable. When she was done I felt like I almost didn't deserve it! I know I paid and tipped but... it was like she worked so hard! I felt as if I needed to do some more chores around the house and really earn it! What an absolute treat! While I know she might say the same general things in passing conversation with other clients, I felt as if it was the first time she was saying it! What a beautiful person and a lovely experience. Very efficient and caring location. Will be back! Can't wait to book again! It's nice when you can find a nice place, enjoy yourself at a reasonable rate, and feel Covid safe. Book now! We had a 2 month wait (well worth the wait). Such a gem!

Yelp
A first impression makes a lasting impression. I was interested in scheduling a massage after reading the great reviews online and wanted to address the lower back pain I have been experiencing after recently pulling my back. I scheduled an appointment online a week from now. However, upon calling yesterday and speaking with Lindsey that's so pleasant I was able to get a 60-minute massage yesterday. While waiting in the comfortable waiting area another patron left stating that they were great Now! This made me extremely excited for my massage. I cannot say enough about the ever so pleasant, efficient, personable, and WONDERFUL Deidre with the magic hands. I did not write this review yesterday because I was in the clouds after my massage with an essential oil. I slept so well last night!!! The care and attention that Deidre provided is something I have never experienced. I am so GRATEFUL for this neighborhood gem that will now be a staple in my life addressing pain, relieving stress, and supporting self-care. Thank you, Hot Hands (Deidre), for this exceptional mind and body experience.

Yelp
My friend and I came on a roadtrip and the facial here is thorough and relaxing, professional enough to check all the boxes and brighten her face but still tender enough to feel personalized and relax, customer service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable explaining all the options while at same time not feeling like a forced upsell. While waiting for my friend to get her facial I watched Damian greet most of the incoming guests by name and actually remember who they were. Between the rejuvenated glow my friend had and the warm environment I had to get a massage for myself the day after.

Kaddie H.

Yelp
I recently had a great 1 hour massage done by the hands of Princeton. He was absolutely wonderful! He was very respectful and courteous, and he also paid great attention to my needs. Before the massage I informed him of my problem areas, and he made sure to really dive into and focus on those areas. It truly was a great experience and I highly recommend Princeton for all of your masseuse needs. Overall this massage, from check-in to check-out was a great experience and I will be coming back! I will say that parking was a little tricky, as the funeral home a couple doors down was holding a service. But I called and let the front desk know I was running slightly behind because of it and they were very understanding.

Yelp
This was the BEST massage experience I've ever had. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the ambiance is perfect. My masseuse, Damien, was professional and super talented! His skilled hands worked my trouble spots and relieved my tension. As a mother of 3, wife, grad student, and full time educator, Hot Hands Studio & Spa was EXACTLY what I needed. This was the perfect Mother's Day gift that will turn into a regular occurrence! Thanks Damien! #memberforlife

Yelp
I've been coming to Hot Hands Studio & Spa for the past couple of years now and generally buy the 90 minute hot hand massage on Groupon, which can be used every six months. I usually request for Damien, the owner for my massage and have had great experiences with him. He generally comes out and personally great you prior to the appointment as you are waiting in the waiting area. He is very professional and will check in to see if the pressure of the massage is too much or too soft. Hot Hands Studio & Spa has a very "homey" feeling to it. It isn't anything fancy where you can sit in a sauna, put your personal belongings in a locker room before or after you change, or have a big fancy bathroom for you to shower in. So if that is what you're looking for, I wouldn't recommend. However, if you're just looking for a casual spa with good massages and services, where you're able to book a spa and come in/out after you finish without the extra amenities, I would definitely recommend Hot Hands & Spa.

Yelp
I've been waiting for Damian to refund me money from the vouchers that I will not use at his studio, I sent him a text asking him where the refund was. He lost it on me and began to use personal attacks. I am posting the body of the text below. You decide if this angry man is someone you want to massage your almost naked body with this negative energy. Just to give you context, he is referring to not being paid by my insurance company for working on me for my bicycle accident. How this is my fault, I'll never know. Bottom line: do not trust this man. "I thought you were that kinda person. Thats just bad karma for you!! That's another reason why I don't want to treat you. I tried to help you.. But You don't wanna be helped. You jus wanna cause problems for everybody else! And still I haven't been paid for treating you."

Yelp
Found out about this place through a half-off online program. I bought myself and my boyfriend a massage. The salon is located in deep south philthy. I was delighted to see a modern sign with hip people when i pulled up and walked in. This salon has the friendliest owner and massage/estetician. Turns out that the half-off place screwed up on their offer and gave away more than the salon had bargained for. But the owner decided to honor the service. Which gave me a $30 credit for my next appt. Well it turned out to be a good thing because I went back for a facial the next time. (I clicked well with the estetician; she was a Gemini like me.) Anyway the prices are great and they do something that I've never seen. First they have these amazing foot warmers which is like a huge hot water bottle but they keep their heat. They also sell them there for only $18! If you have icicle feet like me this is pure heaven. They also have the most luxurious table set up with soft bedding and blanket. They care about the environment and especially the warmth. I can't tell you how many salons don't keep the room warm and don't have enough bedding. (I'm a sheet, 2 blanket & comforter type.) Lastly, they offer memberships. So if you're like me and get massages/facials all the time, then it makes sense to join because the prices get slashed! Such a deal. I hope this place opens another in Roxy/East Falls area since it would be nice and close by. http://www.hothandsphilly.com/

Yelp
My masseuse Diedre was phenomenal, she gave great conversation and towards the end I was knocked out!! Keep up the great work.

Yelp
Bought a groupon by recommendation of a friend. Got the 1 hour facial and 1 hour massage. The facial: Was overall amazing. I got pretty chilly at one point but the aesthetician noticed I was fidgety and asked if I was doing ok. She then got me another blanket and went back to work. I was so relaxed that I fell asleep on the table. It was wonderful and I felt amazing afterward! Only complaint was that the music system wasn't working properly and so it was hard to relax initially. Sounded funny with too much bass and was warped. Also a few times I could hear people talking outside of the room and that distracted me a bit. Once she got to work, though, I forgot all about it. After the facial I was shown to a waiting room and offered water and hot tea while I waited for my massage. Glad to get the tea offer because I was in a robe and slippers and chilly. After about 5 minutes I was escorted into another room for my massage. I was asked pressure preference and if I had any areas to be focused on or avoided. The massage was amazing. I prefer a firm/deep pressure and that's exactly what I got. Same issue with the music in here but overall I was very happy with my experience and would return in a heartbeat! I recommend it to anyone!

Yelp
I booked this spa for my birthday for me and some friends. Literally the best experience! Everyone was so sweet and accommodating. They provided wine, cheese, mini sandwiches, fruit. Gave us five star treatment. It was a birthday I will never forget. Thank you so much Hot Hands Studio & Spa. The owner Damian was so friendly and generous. Alexis coordinated everything with me for weeks and made sure we had everything and more. The therapists put me at ease and made me feel so relaxed. I will definitely be going back!

Yelp
My husband and I did the couples massage for Valentine's Day. It was amazing! We had Damian and Deirdre. They were both friendly, professional, and wonderful to work with! Both my husband and I loved our massages and foot scrubs. This was our first time at Hot Hands, and we loved it!

Yelp
I used a Groupon for a 50 minute facial . I've had facials at many spas all over the world and this was just ok. Good: Decent atmosphere. Sound machine. The Aesthetician analyzed my face. They used natural organic products. She explained each step and what she was using. She provided me with recommendations for home care for a couple of problems areas. Not so Good: She never steamed my face. I've never had a facial where they didn't use the steamer to open the pores and get a deeper clean. She said that I didn't need a lot of extractions, so it wasn't necessary. She never did extractions on my nose or chin. Having an oily T-Zone every time I've had a facial those are areas that ALWAYS done. When I leave a facial my face usually looks "glowing" because it has been cleansed so well. This time my face felt really dry. I also noticed that my eye make up was still on. Mascara, eye line AND shadow. How do you do a facial but leave make up on. When I got home and got ready for bed that evening I ran a cotton pad over my face with toner on it. Dirt came off on the cotton pad!!!!!! Clearly my face had not been thoroughly cleaned. I've definitely had better and given that I have a pretty good regimen at home, this wasn't necessarily better than what I do myself. If you've never had a facial before then this may be a good started place. If you are a facial regular or mildly experienced, then I don't recommend it.

Yelp
I wish no stars was an option. This place has amateur masseuses that talk nonstop and even more false promotional advertising. My sister purchased a gift certificate on this establishments website for two $20 deep tissues (see photo of the false deal in yelp pictures). So she gave them to me as a gift. I went to the spa and after the 60 min message they told me those don't work. The owner told me that they were only good for upgrades and that I can use them against my total costs. So the total was $90 and I paid $50 there and my sister paid $40 online. Every other customer got 20% or a yelp deal (so netting to $72) but I wasn't given this option since I have prepaid a portion. So in theory I paid more then everyone else that walked in. So my sister paid $40 for 2 advertised deep tissue messages that were then rejected in the shop. They rejected my certificates in front of other customers at the store and they were behind the front desk dragging it out making me feel sooooo awkward and on the spot that I just paid to get out. There is no parking there but old school meter which sucked. I could have went to the Body Restoration or Spa de Terme in CC for the same price or less for senior masseuses that don't spend all day talking about their life while I'm trying to relax! Which is what I thought spas were for. Overall this place sucks in everyday possible !

Yelp
I am obsessed with going here. I've been coming on and off since 2017. I called in last minute to see any availability for the week since online said there was nothing until November 23rd and Damian fit me into the schedule as soon as he could. I think the most important part besides the wonderful customer service and experience is the relationship you end up having with your masseuse. I have not gone anywhere else to get a massage and once you start, you won't want to stop at Hot Hands Studio & Spa.

Yelp
Damien has magic hands! He's professional and has a wonderful personality! I've been a customer for over 6 years and absolutely love this place!

Tanzina R.

Yelp
The massage was decent but my 90 minute massage was more like 60 minutes!! When I walked in and asked when does my 90 min start, they said from the time they start the massage, but after exactly 60 minutes she stopped massaging me and said I was done. I then inquired at the desk again and the same person told me that it starts from when I walk in and thatincludes the clean up time after a client leaves. What a ridiculous notion! After I walked in they took 10 minutes to even take me inside. Update: Their marketing manager called me and apologized. She said there was a mix up and that they actually booked me for 60 min instead of 90. And that they should not have told me that clean up time was accounted for in my 90min. Anyways she gave me my 30 min back and a complimentary 30min. I went back today and got my massage done with Heidi, who just started there today and she was a Godsend! I think she might be the best they have, she definitely set the bar very high. If I go back it will be because of her!

Yelp
I've been coming to Hot Hands for over a year now. I have a monthly massage with Damien. Service is always great! Front desk staff is friendly and professional. I look forward to my appointments every month!

Yelp
I purchased the Groupon deal for Hot Hands because I've been in search of a go-to massage place since I moved to Philly. When I arrived, I got Damien as my masseuse. I don't know what had happened to him that day, but he was in a mood. I was his last customer, and all he did was rush me from the beginning. I didn't print out the Groupon, and he was short with me about that already. He made me sit there and find the Groupon online through his computer before he would do any work on me - the page on my smartphone was not good enough, he said. I understand that each office handles their Groupons differently, but I've never been treated like this for not printing out the certificate. Then when we got into the room, he was still being curt. He put me in such a bad mood that I couldn't even relax as I was getting massaged. This experience has upset me so much that I will NEVER go back to this place. I've never been treated so rudely at a massage place before. I think he is the owner of this place, and it makes me even more determined to avoid this place. How does he expect to get repeat customers if he's so rude?

Yelp
I get massages all the time and wanted to do a couples one, I'm from out of town and saw a deal here in philly. Went in with a groupon, right off the bat I could tell the place was pretty dirty, and for sure The massage beds were dirty. Asked for more pressure and the "therapist" said to be patient, and wait while she applies the lotion, I was just making a general statement, I've told other masseuses in the past to go lighter or harder and never had a weird snarky comment like that, thought that was so rude. I guess I paid for what I got: the worst massage I've ever had, I Should've paid full price somewhere else.

Yelp
I purchased an Eversave deal for a deep tissue massage. When I entered the spa I handed in the Eversave voucher to the receptionist and she stated that I have a Swedish massage scheduled. I corrected her and told her that I have it for a deep tissue massage as stated in the Eversave. So she read it and said that she would let the masseuse know. I don't frequently have massages done, so I do not know the exact difference between a Swedish massage or a deep tissue massage. All I know is that normally I have the deep tissue massage done and I always leave the spa extremely relaxed and re-energized. Usually when the masseuse asks me what I would like done I normally just tell them that as a medical student, so I study for extended periods to just work out my upper back, neck and shoulder muscles. In the questionnaire I filled out I mentioned my back and neck area to be the area of focus. The massage I received did absolutely nothing for my upper back or neck . The masseuse never asked if she should increase the pressure of not like they normally do and I never asked her to do anything different as I thought maybe they have different method of massaging. I just wasted time and I could have been studying instead since my exam is coming up soon. At the end of the massage when I came out. The masseuse asked how my massage was I said it was OK and then asked whats the difference between a Swedish and a deep tissue massage was and the masseuse replied that since I had a living social deal she just gave me a Swedish Massage. I looked at her and said I had an Eversave voucher which states Deep tissue and that's what I wanted! No wonder it did not feel as good as ones I have had at other spas in the past! The receptionist told me she forgot to tell the masseuse and the masseuse admitted that she read the voucher wrong. The manager or owner came in and basically said that he would not do anything about this because I should have said something during the time of my massage. So basically I am interpreting this as it is my fault that his employees do not care and that they do not read anything and that I am supposed to now teach them what type of massage I would like? I did not say anything and just left after that as I was too upset to say anything at this point. I had convinced my husband to purchase this Eversave as well and wish I could somehow just get my money back. I would never recommend this place to any of my family, friends or classmates. My advice to those of you who have an Eversave voucher make sure to tell EVERYONE there what type of massage you have scheduled... you might want to also tell the masseuse 10-15 times during your massage as well so that its not your fault for getting the wrong massage. I don't know, he might be able to convince you that it's your fault even then. I wish I could give them minus points! Their service is not even worthy of a 0! I guess they just don't believe in "the customer is always right" (even when it is THEIR own fault). The owner or manager is too pig headed to admit his own fault!

Yelp
I mentally drafted this in my head while I was on the table.... Very nice waiting room, nice receptionist. Ok....the massage: "Hot Hands" is a not a misnomer. Actually, it's an understatement. The room was friggin blazing hot....like Sahara Desert hot. He turned the heat off...thankfully, because if he'd left it on I'd be dead right now. There's a neat heated water pad for under your feet. Also, heated oils and hot towels were implemented. Damien was my masseur (and the owner)....very friendly. He was pretty much my favorite masseur ever (with the exception of this really handsy guy I used to use when I worked in University City....before I was married). He didn't do any of that pansy ass "how's that pressure?" then I respond "you can do it really hard" then they make it marginally harder for about a minute then resume massaging an ailing flea. No, he realized that I'm a big, strapping gal (whatever that means) and went to work. Used his forearms and all. He didn't run screaming from the room when my tit popped out of the sheet either....he just apologized for my wayward breast, covered it up and did his thing. The one thing that I really enjoyed about this place: the music. It reminded me of when Sookie and Eric finally did it and they were in the woods. I just kinda pretended that I was trippin' off V and it was Eric massaging me. Not in a sexual way though, I think Jason is far hotter and when Eric was with Sookie he was all sweet and caring and he was sexy when he was a fucking ruthless, murdering vampire.

Yelp
I have really oily skin and recently ran out of my prescription acne medication and needed an acne facial. Being from south Philly, I didn't feel like driving to center city and dealing with parking. I got the Yelp deal online which was $40 for $80 worth services. The waiting area was very calm, quiet, and relaxing- which was a really nice contrast from walking in off of Broad Street. My esthetician, Stephanie, came out and told me it would be a few more minutes because she was waiting for her client to leave and needed to clean the room. She was so sweet and I told her it was no problem. I was so lucky to have gotten Stephanie. She told me her specialty was acne and problem skin, which made me feel so much better. She was so knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. When we weren't talking about my facial, Stephanie asked me questions about myself and told me about herself as well. She is so genuinely nice and I really enjoyed talking to her during my facial. I usually don't like to talk during spa treatments because I try to relax but I couldn't stop talking to her- she was so personable! I told Stephanie how I ran out of my acne medication and asked her for some tips because I felt like I needed a new skin care regimen. She gave me a couple recommendations for face washes and moisturizing serums, organic make up brands that would work well for my oily skin, and acne spot treatments. She wrote all of that down for me, gave me 2 samples of the serums and gave me her card. Stephanie told me to call Hot Hands if I ever had any questions about taking care of my skin. That really went above and beyond for me. I've had a lot of facials at the spas in center city (Toppers, Body Klinic, etc.) and never had anyone take such concern in their client. She didn't try to sell my anything, which I really appreciated, and gave me a coupon for $20 off for my next visit. I've been following the skin care regimen Stephanie made for me and my face looks great. I haven't even gotten a new acne prescription because the products she suggested have been working so well. If you get a facial, especially if you have oily/acne prone skin like me, you NEED to go to Stephanie. I can't say enough about her!

Yelp
DO NOT GET A FACIAL HERE. Unfortunately I purchased the groupon for the facial and the massage. The massage was good/average. The facial on the other hand was awkward and nothing I dont do regularly in my own home. I know there might be a few estheticians that work there, this one specifically was NOT good, curly blonde hair, latino accent, said she was new. I should start off saying that I have had quite a few facials and this by far the worst. She used a weird smelly black light mask to tell me that I had sun damage (no shit I grew up on a beach and i'm fair) and combination skin, which I could have told her if she asked. She proceeded to condescendingly tell me how i should be taking care of my skin, without listening to my actual routine. I told her i was excited to try the dermalogica skincare products (this is what they use and sell) She responded that she was new and that she would not be using them on me, ok thanks.. Then she proceeded to take my makeup off with some sort of a sponge that she kept reusing on my face washing and ringing out in the sink behind me - GROSS! She gave me an enzyme mask and a clay mask, both of which she left on my face for a lengthy amount of time. I probably sat with the clay mask on my face for 20 minutes while she clanged things behind me, washed some things and rustled through papers. During this time she should have been massaging me, i barely got a massage at the end, and it sucked. Her fingers literally felt like sandpaper. She didnt give me any steam and she did no extractions, no aromatherapy. Bottom line I dont know why anyone would pay $40-$60 for a facial from this woman/place, I give myself an enzyme peel and a clay mask once a week myself and I feel more relaxed less degrated in my own home. OHHH and to top it off - I needed change to tip this woman, because its the right thing to do.. i needed to break a $100. In front of the whole lobby the owner goes "well how much do you wan to tip her?" Not cool. He needed to know this because he never went to the bank (said he forgot) so hes pulling money from other tip envelopes and his wallet to get me change. It was so wrong and so unprofessional. I will not be coming back here, there are plenty of other good places to get facials in philadelphia - THE JEAN MADELINE INSTITUTE is fabulous and cheap, much cheaper than what i spent on this disappointing groupon.

Yelp
Not sure where to begin. The overall feeling is the place is run down so is the staff. They ask you in the beginning if you need to use the restroom, very polite. It has to be the smallest bathroom ever. I got a massage, in a very dirty small room, that had pour central air. I asked to have medium pressure. In return I was basically covered in oil, and just had someone rub oil on me, with no skill, or training. When she was done, she didn't ask me how it was or say good bye, she just left with her purse. I then waited in what looks like a break room for the staff, for my facial. I was brought into another room, and the facialist turned the light up so I could see walking in. When she turned the light up, all I could see was another dirty room. The work station looks like a old wooden dresser, what some animal has chewed the left top corner of. When she began the facial it felt nice. When she brought out the steamer, it seemed it was time for her to take a break, she actually got up and left for about 4 minutes. She then came back applied a mint mask and then left for about 5 minutes and took another break. She came back washed my face and applied lotion. Atleast she said have a nice day. When I went into the bathroom to fix my hair, I noticed I still had part of the mint mask under my eye. I actually left stressed and not relaxed. Word to the wise, save your money

Yelp
I had seen this spa advertised for years, but was hesitant to try it 1) because of the location (Broad Street at Oregon Avenue is not a neighborhood where you'd expect to find high-quality massages or skincare) and 2) because they always seem to be running specials on Groupon (for me, that is frequently a red flag that a company might be having a hard time keeping customers). The lure of the Groupon special finally got the best of me, and I booked a massage. I had such a great experience that I decided to try their waxing services, which are also top notch. I immediately became a member, which gets you access to free and half-price services. I absolutely love the spa. The staff are wonderful - always super friendly and helpful. I have no idea why other reviewers have had negative things to say about the decor; it's comfortable and inviting, and completely clean. It might not be totally modern, but it's an old building in South Philly - you can't expect anything too shiny. I don't know why others have had such a hard time booking appointments, either. The spa is open late in the evening, and on Sundays. You might have to book a week or two out, but that's not unreasonable. I also love the location. It's a block away from the Broad Street subway, and near several major bus lines. I would not hesitate to recommend this spa for a massage, wax or facial. Go ahead and grab one of their specials on Yelp or Groupon!
