"In New Haven, it’s easy to default to ordering pizza for lunch every week, but on the days you want to shake it up, try Hot Murga. This casual counter-service spot makes Nashville-style hot chicken brightened with Indian flavors. The highlight of the menu is the crispy murga masala sandwich slathered in so much tikka masala sauce that it’ll drip out the edges when you take a bite. Round your meal out with some spiced mac and cheese that’ll help cut the heat, an order of masala fries, and at least two extra sauces to dunk your fries in, like the mint chutney and their namesake mayo-y, mustardy murga sauce." - Ciera Velarde

Found this place randomly and thought of trying it. They have a limited menu but all good options. We tried all 3 slider varieties and their masala fries, everything tasted great - the Szechuan sliders were the best! The place is small and doesn’t have a lot of seating, service can be slow because of takeout orders, nonetheless we will definitely be going back to try more!

This is a unique take on Nashville chicken. The store was really clean and had a fresh vibe to it. Bathroom was also nicer than many fast casual restaurants. Now onto the fun stuff. Badmaash's Mac & Cheese is a must try and liked the fusion idea. Huge portion with a lot of chicken. Super cheesy and I liked the masala and mint chutney sauces on top. It is very heavy so I think it’s best to share as an app instead of as your main meal. I like the metal trays everything is served on but felt the Mac & Cheese could use a better serving dish. Or at least remove the paper insert it was served on because that soaked up the sauce and started to tear. I enjoyed the Murga sandwich and was above average. I did find the amount of Indian spices in it to be less than expecting though and it wasn’t extremely noticeable. That would be my main critique. I will try the masala sandwich next time to see if it has more Indian spices in it. The Masala wings were just okay and wouldn’t really recommend. Moist and crispy but didn’t have a lot of flavor on them.

Order and pay at the counter prior to receiving your meal. New to New Haven another hot chicken restaurant but with an Indian flare. We came at an off time so there was only one other party located in the restaurant. I think most order take out from here although there are a few tables inside to sit at which we did. We each ordered a mango lassi which was very refreshing and helped cool off the spice. The menu is simple but with lots of opportunities to customize. From salad and rice bowls to sandwiches to chicken and waffles they have it. I ordered a chicken rice bowl, that came with a ¼ sized pita bread, coleslaw and pickled onions. They have many different sauces you can add onto your meal, the server wasn’t that clear on what each of the sauces were, I played it safe and got the “spiced ranch” which tasted mostly like mayo. Others in my party ordered the chicken and waffles and the French fry chicken bowl. Paid street parking is available out front.

Google
THE chicken sandwich of dreams that happens to be vegan and vegetarian. Just perfect. Speaking as someone who used to love a classic chicken sandwich. Probably the best I’ve had ever.

Everything was so delicious and so flavorful! Their aloo paneer patty was bomb!!! No complaints!!!! Will be back! Great service too. Mint chutney was the freshest more vibrant mint chutney I’ve had in forever.

The food was so good I couldn’t even wait to take a picture! The cardamom ice cream was delicious and for the vegetarians the impossible murga sandwich was delicious!!!

First time at this place, the masala fries are very crispy and flavorful (with a hint of curry and masala). The tikka masala chicken sandwich is also good. I ordered takeout, so I asked for the sauce on the side, and it was a good decision as you can dip your fries in it!

I had a great dining experience at Hot Murga. I tried three dishes, and each one impressed me. The Badmaash Fries were a perfect blend of crispy fries topped with chicken, pickles, and sauce, a truly mouthwatering treat. The Ginger Lavender Lemonade was a refreshing surprise, with zesty lemonade infused with ginger and lavender, making it a satisfying and unique beverage. I really loved it. Lastly, the Cardamom Ice Cream was a perfect sweet ending to my meal. They have a creative menu.

Yelp
Nashville hot chicken remixed with Indian flavors. What a brilliant concept, perfectly executed here. -Chicken is crispy and flavorful. I got Medium spice level, which is tasty but not hot at all in my opinion... I'd get Hot next time -Masala fries are also perfect Service was friendly, efficient and pretty fast (10mins) for food that is obviously cooked-to-order Vibe / Ambiance is bright, funky and modern. Got my food to-go as i had to get back to work... But I wouldn't mind sitting down & eating here sometime.

Yelp
Got this a couple months ago to try their masala mac 'n cheese and it was soo good! Definitely a must try. Their chicken sandwich is ok, I personally didn't like that there was too much sauce, but the flavors were good. The service was good. There is street parking and space to sit and eat inside. Ambiance was good for a quick bite or friendly hangout, not date spot.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our meal at Hot Murga. Its a great American/Indian fusion restaurant with many options - hot chicken sandwich, fries, rice bowls etc. It is a fast casual restaurant; with dine in and take out. Parking is street parking. The food is genuinely delicious; a cool blend of spices in the dishes. Do not miss the murga sauce (its an option for most dishes!) and the cardamom cheesecake ice cream; I still think about this ice cream. SO good.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I love Indian food and after seeing the posts on Instagram this place looked like an interesting visit. I had a chance to stop by over the weekend and I must say the food here is amazing. I love the concept of chicken with an Indian flair, and man this place did not disappoint. I had the regular sliders and everything was on point, from the warmth of the potato rolls, the tenderness of the chicken with its slight kick (got mine mild), the sauce, etc. It was just the best sliders I ever had. I will be here again next time I'm in town. The place is relatively small with a few tables in an area close to Yale. It is nice inside, clean and the design around the place is pretty neat. Can't wait to be in new haven again to go check this place.

Marco V.

Yelp
My review will be based on the food not in the service. I heard about this place in New Haven that it's selling chicken sandwiches with the fusion of Indian flavors and spices in a Nashville style Chicken Sandwich. I really like the decor and the welcoming atmosphere. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the Murga Sandwich with fries. The fries were super crispy outside and soft inside with a good amount of seasoning. I love them. The Murga Sandwich medium heat was good not great but definitely I will have it again. I think the coleslaw was a little bit simple maybe it needs more seasoning. The chicken was juicy and tender with a nice crunch. The Chicken was smaller for my opinion, compared to other restaurant in the area. Medium heat was good but definitely I will go for the next level next time. My only issue that day was the time with my order, it took around 13 minutes to have my order ready. I think, they need to improve how to get the orders faster that's it. Overall good sandwich and fries. I will come back again and try other options.

Yelp
Hot Murga is a fast-casual Indian fusion restaurant that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in May 2023. It was founded by Rupinder "Romy" Singh. No strangers to the restaurant business, the Singh Family has been in the local restaurant business for several years. Romy's father Indi Singh owns Sitar, while his brother Harinder "Harry" Singh owns House of Naan. Before getting into the restaurant business, Romy was a lymphoma researcher at Yale University. He later realized that food was his true passion; it allowed him to get creative. In the fall of 2020, he and Harry co-opened Pataka: a fast-casual Indian street food restaurant. Although successful, the brothers closed Pataka two years later when they got the opportunity to relocate it to Queens, NYC. Romy came up with a new restaurant concept to fill the same space once occupied by Pataka. Inspired by a family trip to Tennessee, Romy came up with the idea to open a Nashville Hot Chicken restaurant that featured an Indian spin. He named the new venture "Hot Murga" which means "Hot Rooster". All of the chicken used for the dishes is 100% Certified Halal. My wife and I recently stopped at Hot Murga for lunch. We had heard nothing but great things about them and were eager to try their food. The interior of the restaurant was bright, white, and ridiculously clean. We were impressed with that alone. After looking over the menu, we decided to order a variety of different dishes to share. We ordered the "Murga Sandwich" (fried chicken, coleslaw, pickles, pickled onions, murga sauce on a potato bun), "Badmaash's Fries" (masala fries, fried chicken, murga sauce, pickles, coleslaw), "Waffles", and "Spiced Mac and Cheese". Everything was so delicious! KAPOW: an explosion of flavor in every bite! To drink, we washed everything down with some "Ginger Lavender Lemonade" and "Mango Lassi". My wife and I have definitely been caught up in the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich craze with other places like Haven Hot Chicken, but Hot Murga offers the same type of cuisine that not only adheres to Halal dietary guidelines but is also prepared with vibrant Indian spices. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat in all of New Haven great fusion that I never expected to like this much, the fried chicken is crispy and juicy with amazing sauces the tikka is a lot better than the yellow daal which was watery, workers are very nice and attentive

Sidra S.

Yelp
I want to support this place because... 1. I'm southerner who loves fried chicken 2. Im a Pakistani/Muslim so halal food is a plus 3. The aesthetics and branding of this place is so catchy and cute But.. No matter how many times I try this place the fried chicken sandwiches are just average and tasty heavy.

Mina B.

Yelp
I think this place is just ok. It definitely has great appeal but the execution of the food is just not that good. The chicken was not really seasoned so they rely heavily on their sauces to make up for the lack of flavor. The chicken itself was very meaty which I like but it kind of stopped there. The mac n cheese side dish is just flat out pathetic, maybe the worst I've had. That dish alone brought the entire score down overall. Food rating: Murga Masala Chicken Sandwich: 6.6 Masala Fries: 7.1 Spiced mac n cheese: 2.1 Several dipping sauces: all above an 8 I wouldn't try this place again though.

Oscar L.

Yelp
Friend got the Murga Masala Chicken Sandwich which he mentioned was nicely made and flavorful. I went with the 2 tenders that are more than just the ordinary hot chicken on white bread. The size of each tender was huge. The meat was juicy, seasoned wonderfully with spices and batter with a crunchy crust served with their take on Canes chicken sauce that has spice with their own hot sauce for another kick. I'm often worried about the hot chicken scene focuses on heat over flavor but this place focuses on flavor first with the kick that all works out. Being from the northeast there aren't many hot chicken places and sure as hell there aren't any Indian Hot Chicken places - I would still pick this over Dave's and Canes any day. Please have a location in MA!

Yelp
The first time I had Nashville style Hot Chicken I fell in love with it. I have always loved good Indian food, especially all of the different flavors and textures partying together on my plate and then in my mouth. Needless to say when these two foods were paired together it is simply a match made in heaven. I have ordered numerous times over the past year+ from Hot Murga, but this past weekend my family stopped in as we were in New Haven for a few errands. I opted for Badmaash's Mac and Cheese this time (versus my usual Badmaash's Fries). Let's just say that I don't know if I'll do the fries again. The creaminess of the mac and cheese added another dimension to the Indian seasoning. The cheesiness also cut the heat (though I was looking for it with ordering it with a Hot spice level), like how raita would do the same with traditional Indian food. Eating in this past weekend also gave me the opportunity to see the kindness and gratefulness of the on-site team. I'd always much rather support a business that is thankful and appreciative for their customers. I definitely felt it here.

Yelp
Heard of a halal new burger spot in New Haven and had to give it a try! We ended up ordering 1 murga sandwich medium heat, 2 murga masala sandwich (pre-determined heat level, side of plain fries (we didn't want the masala on top), and the badmash Mac n cheese! So I split the murga and murga masala sandwich. My first impression of the murga sandwich was that it was way too crunchy. Visibly you can tell it was brown/slightly burned. I've had chicken burgers elsewhere, and this was personally way to crunchy. Maybe it was a one off situation. Coming to the murga masala sandwich - now that was a good level of normal crispiness and pretty delicious. The masala sauce on the burger was a nice touch and the coleslaw was also refreshing. I did end up getting an extra side of coleslaw as well! Portion size for the side was small than expected, but did the job. The Mac and cheese was good - I wish it was more cheesy though... since I was already getting full off the one burger, the extra chicken in it was a bit much for me. So if you are someone like me who doesn't have a big appetite I would recommend just ordering the Mac and cheese plain (not loaded). I didn't take a photo of the fries, but I didn't like them. They were just way too crispy and almost hard. Probably over fried... if I would order them again, I'd probably request to have it normal fried (although I've never had to make that type of request for French fries) Inside is really clean though. I went at a time when there wasn't a big crowd. And the service was fairly quick. The girl taking our order was really friendly as well and brought the food to our table. I'm so glad this place has indoor seating with a few tables to fit a crowd! If you drive around that area you can also get free no meter parking. I would probably come back again when I'm craving this kind of food - just hope they're mindful of not over frying and then I would probably give 5 stars! :-)

Yelp
By far the best fried chicken that I've tasted since living in the Northeast the last four years. The chicken was crunchy and perfectly seasoned. The mac cheese had gooey cheese and was perfectly pair with chicken, Tikka Masala and Mint Chutney. Sliders were amazing. Food was so amazing that we ordered an additional order of wings. The service was beyond amazing. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was super clean. We live 3 hours away in New Hampshire and we are already looking to return soon. P.S. we requested a later check out from our hotel and we made a great decision to stay until the restaurant opened this morning. Amazing job!!

Joshua W.

Yelp
I mostly stopped in because of its convenience to my hotel, but glad I did. The hot murga masala sandwich doesn't necessarily look like much at first, but what a perfectly balanced flavor bomb. The chicken was perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside. I ordered it hot and the heat was perfect, enough to really feel it but complimented and balanced by the mint chutney, spiced ranch, and pickled onions. The curry-spiced fries were excellent too, as was their cardamom cheesecake ice cream. If I were a local or a Yale student, I'd be back regularly.

Olivia J.

Yelp
I am obsessed with Hot Murga! They have the best chicken sandwiches and their service is great. I've been there SO many times in the past several months. Their Badmassh fries and Murga Masala Sandwiches are unmatched. Their restaurant is very clean and bright. Highly recommend!!!

Thomas S.

Yelp
Very tasty chicken and fries. I also got the lavender lemonade. Solid eating. I was intrigued by the menu and other reviews seemed to enjoy the experience. I feel like I'm copying other reviews but had the same feelings about the food and atmosphere. Nice lady made a few recommendations and I went with them. I was very happy with the masala chicken sandwich and fries. I did not get any sauces on fries. I really liked both. I also got the lemonade.

ZOHAIB M.

Yelp
Heard about Hot Murga from my brother & I've been meaning to try out some CT pizza so I put this place on my list too. It was def worth the drive out from NYC. We went on a Sunday, there was plenty of street parking available. Very clean place, bathroom was nice too. I had murga masala sandwich with mild heat. It was a burst of yummy Indian flavors especially mint chutney. I also tried the badmaash mac & cheese which also had that yummy Tikka masala sauce on it. I've never had chicken with Mac before & surprisingly it made for a great combo. I highly recommend this place.

Tushar S.

Yelp
Wow. The food is awesome here and definitely worth a try if you enjoy heat and chicken. First off, this is located just off of the campus of Yale near the bookstore. It is not the easiest place to find parking on busy days / times, but the food is worth the hassle. Much easier to park here on weekend days when we recently went. The service is basically a to go type fast food place. No table service to speak of but they do take your order and bring out trays with the food. The ambiance screams septic with the white and orange motif, but it is nice in a transitory food hall kinda way. Ultimately, this is not a place you're going to sit at for a long time but more a place to grab a quick bite and go. We got the sliders, the Mac and cheese w all the toppings and the fries with all the toppings. As you can see the food looked amazing and the taste was even better. We went with medium spice and it had a kick. If you're not a spice person, stick with mild or the no spice levels. If you like the heat, go for the spicy or super spicy levels. Personally, the sliders were good but the Mac and cheese with the mint chutney and Tikka masala sauce were out of this world. That is definitely going to be my go to next time I go here. I will say the chicken was a tad spicy for the kids (who enjoy spice) but the cooling of a Limca (Indian sprite) paired well with the food for them.

Rida S.

Yelp
This place was great! We loved the flavors and the spiciness In the burgers and fries. I would definitely get the fries again they were crispy ( fries and chicken) and had a great sauce and the pickled onions were great. Also their lavender lemonade was so good! The service was also great the staff is helpful and nice. The restaurant was smaller and great for the location. , Perfect takeout spot or something for a quick bite

Kevin B.

Yelp
It is not often I am blown away by something so good I feel the need to Yelp it almost immediately! This place rocked my world. Did an errand in North Haven and searched around on Yelp for restaurants, this Indian Fried Chicken place in New Haven was discovered. Walked in and were greeted by a friendly cashier. We glanced over at the menu and ask her what she liked the best etc... I wanted the basic Fried Chicken sandwich which came with pickled onions, pickles, Murga sauce and your choice of heat level. Being the spice head that I am, I asked to try their super hot head and I figured I can tolerate it. The sandwich itself was full of Indian flavors and has to be one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever head. The super hot was spicy, I was able to tolerate it and I have no regrets. My wife got the Murga Marsala sandwich which had even more absolutely amazing flavors. It was a chicken sandwich with pickled onions, spiced ranch and mint chutney. Both sandwiches were served on a potato bun. In addition we also ordered the marsala fries which had the most amazing seasoning and crunch. Bonus points for the side of Spiced Ranch to dip in. The ambiance was nice, quick place to order without a waiter and plenty of indoor seating. They also have a small deck in front for a couple seats. Lastly, we grabbed the Cardamom Cheesecake ice cream to go and OMG this was just the icing on the cake. Fill with the flavor of cinnamon and cardimom this dessert was rich and decadent and would get every single time. The cashier said this restaurant is only a few month old, relatively new. I am just still so blown away with how amazing and flavorful this food was. I will be back VERY soon.

Dan N.

Yelp
Hot Murga has one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Absolute home run. I'm so glad I stumbled on this place

Sapha H.

Yelp
The decor here is nice and the restaurant is very clean. It's always nice to have another halal option nearby. Service was friendly but it took 25min for us to receive our order and unfortunately our food was cold by then. The murga masala sandwich was not spicy and was more sweet. The fries were good; murga sauce is definitely on the sweeter side. We also got the murga sandwich (not pictured) in the hot spice level, but it was not very spicy.

Allison C.

Yelp
We're lovers of both hot chicken and Indian flavors, so we were super excited when we learned of Hot Murga! This is the only spot I know of with this concept, and all of the food was delicious. I was especially impressed by the mac and cheese which was super cheesy and would've been killer on its own too! I appreciated that they had a range of spices for every palate, because I'm more on the mild side, while my fiancé will get his food as hot as he can. Though I feel the chicken could've been a little bit more juicy, the flavors were really good, and everything seemed very fresh. The ginger lavender lemonade and cardamom cheesecake ice cream were a great way to cool down, and we liked their outdoor seating area. All of the food came out quickly too!

Kiki V.

Yelp
Hot, fresh, tasty food. The fried chicken in the murga sandwich was crisp and juicy, and well seasoned. I would have liked a bit more coleslaw in the sandwich, and the sandwich could be a bit bigger for $12, but the quality of all the ingredients made up for the price. The french fries were the star: these are some of the best fries I've had in a while. They're crispy but have a silky texture on the inside, and the light seasoning is delicious. The mango lassi could be more tart, but the cardamom seasoning makes it a nice drink.

Elen B.

Yelp
So I was at the Marriott looking for a place to snack. I didn't want Bojangles so I walked around the corner and saw. Hot Murga boy this place was bright and clean. The young lady was very polite. I ask what she'd recommend. I got the Hot Murga chicken marsala sandwich and fries. I don't even eat fries that much boy these fries were crunchy and a tinch spicy they were "banging". The chicken sandwich was slamming. They've been open 2 months or so. I am not from here but on my travels back I'll check them out!! Y'all should check them out too!! That's it that's the post go now ...

Maria M.

Yelp
We've heard great things about this place and finally gave it a try. The service was excellent, staff was patient and kind, willing to explain the menu. The seating area was clean and spacious. Not a ton of seating but definitely enough for Tuesday lunch. We ordered so much off the menu I won't list it here. Everything we had was amazing. If you're driving in to New Haven, the 56 Broadway parking lot is only a 5 min walk. You won't be disappointed.

Adeesha E.

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding. I had the chicken tenders and waffles, and it was the best takeout I've ever eaten. The fries taste like the platonic ideal of spicy fries - perfectly spicy and salty. The waffles were light and fluffy, sweet and spiced. The chicken was tender and moist and the skin was perfectly crispy. Bravo!

Chantal S.

Yelp
Came upon this place while on a roadtrip and it was one of the best meals of the weekend! We got the Szechuan mini sliders, the murga sliders, and Badmaash's Mac and cheese. Some places really overhype their loaded Macs but here it was 100% warranted. Perfect topping to mac ratio, and the sauce is mixed in with the cheese sauce which makes every bite fantastic! The sliders were generously sized and perfect for sharing/sampling multiple flavors, as my boyfriend and i love to do. The Szechuan in particular had such a tasty and sticky sauce--it was so good. In general, all of the chicken is perfectly crispy, tender, and well seasoned. Finally, the prices were super fair and the portion sizes very generous. The food is very filling and has a great diversity of flavor and options for different preferences. I'd highly recommend stopping in here if you have the chance, you won't regret it!

Jonathan R.

Yelp
I am COMPLETELY blown away with the chicken sandwich! I was VERY reluctant to try it, i ordered a basic Murga Sandwich, exactly as described.... Medium heat! I also ordered wings medium heat as well... both items were AMAZING! Very juicy, and the flavors were spot on! Try this place!

J S.

Yelp
WOW! This place is amazing. I got the Murga Masala Sandwich with fries and it knocked my socks off. The sandwich had crispy chicken and the coleslaw added a refreshing snap. The soft potato bun was excellent as well. I adored the masala sauce and the mint chutney. They helped to cut some of the spice and added flavors I throughly enjoyed. The fries were crispy and spiced to perfection. The service was kind. It is a great spot for sure!

Jill E.

Yelp
my 13-year-old wants to know if we can get DoorDash from New Haven Connecticut to Claremont, CA because she wants a Hot Murga sandwich. I feel her pain. We happen upon the shop when we were attending a function at Yale and it was the best thing we ate on our trip. Don't tell the great pizza shops... But Hot Murga is where it's at. Even gotten so far to see if there was a franchise. Alas, will have to wait until we get back to Connecticut. Great service, sweet little shop, and amazing food.

Jessica B.

Yelp
This place is awesome and a really interesting concept for two distinct flavors that work really well together. I think the food slightly better at Murga than the other hot chicken spot in New Haven (though that place is great too), especially if you like Indian flavors. We've had the Murga sandwich, the Murga masala sandwich, Baadmash fries and mac & cheese, seasoned fries and the sliders. I thought the masala sandwich was incredible! My only two complaints are: 1. they don't have a kids menu- we end up ordering the sliders and a side of fries for our two to share and 2. none of the sandwiches listed under the "featured meals" section of the menu include fries! It's not really a "meal" if you have to buy the fries separately, which adds up. So, this place is quite pricy for a fast food counter service type place, but everything tastes great!

Lauren O.

Yelp
Ok, this is a serious review. No jokes. I don't even like Indian food but the hot chicken Indian combo just sang to me. I believe it's where some noodle house used to be, but they redid everything and it's gorgeous. Their AC was broken but the breeze coming in was great! Big windows. The girl working the counter was so friendly and passionate about the food, she helped us make our choices. I got the chicken Murga masala sandwich in medium heat and my hubby got the chicken Murga sandwich in the hottest level as he always does. It was HOT! Beware! We got the Murga fries too! Everything was amazing! Flavors amazing! Crispy, crunchy, juicy my mouth is watering now. The level of flavor was something I haven't had in a long time. We ate in, there's about 5 tables there. It's so clean and crisp inside. The fries were great too! We got a spiced ranch for dipping. Then, we were already stuffed but saw a cinnamon cardamom cheesecake ice cream and just had to. That was delicious too! Creamy creamy creamy! I'm so excited about this place I need to tell people about it right away!! Your going to LOVE it!

Mike G.

Yelp
I was so pleasantly surprised by Hot Murga! So far, I've tried their Murga masala chicken sandwich, their Murga chicken sandwich, and badmaash's fries. Everything was over the top good. The chicken sandwich is super super crunchy, which helps it stand up well to their delicious sauces. We went once this week and liked it so much we went back a second time.

Dona W.

Yelp
Nice twist on hot chicken. Enjoyed the Tikki Masala sauce with my tenders. Slaw was good too. Medium was not too hot (not a spicy person). The tenders were large.

angelica l.

Yelp
I love this place, but I'm really sad I haven't been able to get the murga waffles. I'm not sure if they were officially taken off the menu, but they were the best chicken and waffles I've had. The mac and cheese is also amazing

John M.

Yelp
Delicious! With a really unique take on the hot chicken trend that seems to be popping up everywhere, Hot Murga is one that should be here to stay.

David B.

Yelp
Friendly staff and clean establishment. The Super Hot Murga Chicken Sandwich blew me away. Be ready for the spice! Plenty of pay parking on the street.

Royce K.

Yelp
Excellent food. Very fresh. Great service. When they say hot , medium is more than enough!! Need one of these in Los Angeles.

Wafa A.

Yelp
This place is so good, especially just having opened so recently! Tender chicken, amazing spices (they make their masala or spices by themselves), and ambiance inside is great! Service was friendly and fast! Masala fries had an awesome crispness to it as well. Highly recommend the murga masala sandwich! We're visiting from the west coast but telling all our friends and family in the east coast about it!

Kainoa R.

Yelp
First off, this place is very clean! The smells of different spices are very soothing. The customer service is great. Now let's get to the amazing in g food. The food was amazing. I ordered a few dishes just to try and I was not disappointed. You order with different levels of spice, from no spice to very hot. The portions are beyond reasonable and well worth the charge. Definitely will be back!

Sharan S.

Yelp
When I first read the existence of such a place, it made me add it to the upcoming travel bucket list. With all the chicken sandwich wars going on, Popeye s throwing shade at Chick-fil-A, in turn ruffling Burger King or is it the Big M...oh who cares! Hot Murga is legit, peeps. You gotta try it, and most certainly enjoy the deliciousness that is Indian chicken. The seasonings and spice levels are really well balanced, with the buttery brioche like potato buns, layered with their snazzy special masala drizzle. To go with these handheld, one needs to also indulge in the masala fries...again, with just the right spice dash. Service was fast and well structured for a fast casual restaurant. Great seating options in the downtown New Haven, stones throw from Yale. If you are hankering for an "other" chicken sandwich, with all the traditional accoutrement flavored in a globally inspired manner, do yourself a favor and pick one Hot Murga up. No regrets!

Yelp
So good! Perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken, soft roll, crunchy slaw! A must try for anyone looking for something different than the fast food chains. You can pick your spice level, and pair with their uniquely seasoned fries. Service was also an excellent, and everything was very clean and inviting. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I had one of the fried chicken sandwiches and it was DELICIOUS! I need to go back asap. I also tried the Mac and cheese, which was ok. But 100% go for the fried chicken sandwiches.

Yelp
The Staff were nice and polite. The dinning area is clean and great presentation. The service was fast, and the food cooked just right, fries were fresh with perfect masala seasoning. The chicken sandwich (level hot) wasn't too spicy. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. A perfect Indian American fusion. It reminds me of a Nashville hot chicken sandwich but with an Indian spin.

Yelp
Big plus points for the extra clean space and two bathrooms. I love hot chicken sandwiches and this was my first time trying it with an Indian twist. Absolutely loved the explosion of various flavors. Major bonus points for the crispy batter on the chicken, both on the sandwich and the mac n cheese. They hit the mark with all taste buds! We ordered the hot chicken sandwich with all the Indian spice fixes like tikki masala sauce, the mac n cheese, and topped it off with the cardamon cheesecake ice cream. Will definitely be back for this unique flavor profile.
