1st time visitor and all I can say is that I enjoyed it very much. The service was great, and our server was always available to explain or suggest something. It is like a buffet for a flat price and you can eat all you can eat. I like that they offer a variety of dishes. The best part of my experience was to sit and watch my food cook and then eat it in a timely manner. I know I am coming back there in the next 2 weeks.

Google
Hot Pot City provided quality ingredients, customized soup bases and sauces, and a clean dining environment. They also had a few side dishes such as cucumber salad. We ordered through the IPad on the table, and the food was delivered quickly. The price was reasonable for hot pots. The staff were friendly. It would be an ideal place for groups no larger than four. We had a group of six and found the sitting space and table a bit crowded.

1/19/25 Update: they have improved! Quality of food is still good, service still good, they've now expanded the self service area so you can get your own veggies, plus they added a rotating belt (i think). Best part is they LOWERED their prices to $19.99 for lunches and $29.99 for dinner and weekends. I whole heartedly recommend coming here for authentic Chinese hot pot. Nom nom nom! 🤪 ------- This could have easily been a 4 star restaurant with its quality ingredients, reasonable price, homage to chinese culture, and cool factor (they use a robot to deliver drinks!). Unfortunately when I went the service was lacking, not because the staff were bad, but because there were too many customers and not enough staff to attend to orders. This caused my orders to be significantly delayed; even though everyone around us got their food already, we only got our hot pots and meat. The rest of the things we ordered (veggies, seafood, etc) arrived 30 min later after we finished eating most of the meat. The hot bar was also never refilled, probably because the kitchen is swamped with the amount of people there. I spoke to the staff and it sounds like normally there's not many people visiting. Hopefully when you visit, your experience will be much better.

Located in Rockville Town Center, this restaurant offers a weekend price of only $29.99 per person, making it the lowest-priced hot pot buffet in the area. The decor ranges from the styles of small Chinese eateries from the 1950s to the 1990s, giving it a nostalgic feel. The service is quite good, and the staff are very straightforward. The dishes are served quickly, unlike at some other hot pot buffet restaurants that slow down service to limit customers' consumption. For parking, there are paid parking lots nearby, costing $2-$5 per hour. Parking is free on Sundays. Each person gets their own pot for cooking, and you can choose two different soup bases at no extra charge. There are several seasonal stir-fried dishes available for you to enjoy. The selection of meats is similar to other hot pot restaurants, including beef, lamb, fish slices, shrimp, pork belly, beef tripe, and various vegetables. The conveyor belt primarily features instant noodles, along with small portions of vegetables, tofu, and more. Anyway, this restaurant is worth recommending.

Overall, food was fine (Standard - clean and fresh) but not many choices as I expected. I like the idea they have appetizers bar around the corner and ice cream machine. (There are more selections but need to pay) Anyway, all you can (Dinner) eat price seem a little high for me - but if you are a person can eat a lot - maybe it is value for you. (price includes food, soft drink and dessert) Atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice - but parking is quite limited and not free all the time. (Located in Rockville Town Center). Also I felt not comfortable with my table and seat. Anyway their service was excellent - fast and friendly. p.s. I used to hear they have the belt for serving food in the restaurant but when I was there, it doesn't work anymore.

UPDATE (11/1/24): There is now NO REASON TO NOT TRY THIS RESTAURANT. I recently had lunch there, after several weeks. The food is better than ever! The hot food buffet seems like it has been expanded. They now have a lovely, self-serve bar for all of the veggies and the sauce bar has been improved. Fewer servers, but the already great service seems a lot faster since the self-serve has been expanded. They've also re-decorated and given it a bit more of a K-Pop-ish feel (if, that's your thing). It's still a more elegant, cleaner, quieter place to eat than places like K-Pot or Umi (which both serve vastly inferior-quality hot pot). However, if this isn't enough for you, be aware that they have somehow LOWERED THEIR PRICES! Lunch and dinner seem to have been reduced by about $4. (Lunch is $19.99 and dinner is $29.99.) Frankly, I just don't get it. In my opinion, they serve the absolute best, AUTHENTIC Chinese hot pot in this whole area. The higher prices would have easily been justified, but...for whatever reason, they lowered it. There is simply no reason not to go there, now. Unlike most hot pot places, this is a place to take a group or a date for a pleasant evening. It's big, but not huge. It's well-lit, nicely decorated, and decently spaced out. It has open areas and more intimate corners. The pleasant, low-level background music compliments the nice ambience. It is also impeccably clean (unlike most hot pot restaurants). The tables, floors, and restrooms are spotless. The tables and booths are spacious and well-maintained. Unlike some hot pot restaurants, the induction heaters are recessed into the table tops and located further away from you. I mention these things because the majority of hot pot restaurants seem to aspire to vibe somewhere between a sports bar, a Waffle House, a Chuck E. Cheese, and a karaoke bar. This is none of those things. It's a very nice, sophisticated, bistro setting. This is the MOST authentic CHINESE hot pot that you are likely to find anywhere...and I've had it all over the world. Hot Pot City (HPC) is a fixed price, all you can eat. (Children get 50% off.) Not the cheapest hot pot out there, but by the time you finish reading this, you'll know why it's a better value than most. Like many hot pot restaurants, you order food, drinks, refills, and summon your waiter from a simple touch panel at the table. The menu variety of hot pot ingredients surpasses even larger hot pot restaurants. A choice of TEN different soup bases, including an option for half and half. Traditional thinly-sliced premium beef, pork, and chicken are included, along with an array of traditional offal. (Hey! Don't knock it, til you try it!) Similarly, shrimp, fish, squid, octopus, mussels, and clams are also included as are the traditional soup favorites beef balls, fish balls, lobster balls, "fish tofu", imitation crab stick, mini sausages, and SPAM. One notable item that you rarely see on any hot pot menu are fresh, handmade pork and cilantro meatballs. (There are also 12 special traditional meat and offal selections available for an additional charge.) Likewise, they out-do most other hot pot places with a choice of NINETEEN different vegetables, four varieties of tofu, four varieties of noodles, rice, and even Chinese youtiao (deep fried bread sticks). Compare this to most hot pot places and in most cases they simply can't come close to matching HPC. BUT, there is still a lot MORE that comes included with the price. Hot tea, iced tea, and soda are included, at no extra charge. Bottled juices, herbal tea (Red Bull), coconut milk, and soy milk and available for a low additional charge. Specialty tea drinks are also available for under $4. Premium Asian beer, sake, and rice wines are available, by the small and large bottles. Guess what? Dessert is included, too! Black sugar ice pudding, shaved ice, "snow fungus soup", and self-serve vanilla & matcha ice cream. When you add it all up, it is the most complete, value-added meal you'll ever find.

Google
Came here for all you can eat hotpot, while it wasn’t amazing it wasn’t bad either. Their broth was actually spicy when I got the extra spicy and they had good mountain yam which I liked a lot. The part I didn’t like was that it took a while sometimes for the dishes to come out and unfortunately the meat was kind of mediocre which in my opinion is the most important hotpot dish

Google
Great little place, no wait to be seated. Selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables is good quality. There was brisket, tripe, flounder, and squid. They have some other items on the minue like duck blood so good cooked in a spicy hotpot broth, so good!!! This sort of place is great with 2 or more people so you can try different items and dishes. Note: Price may vary, not all items are on the all you can eat menu, and have a separate cost per serving.

Yelp
I love hotpot so I was excited to try a new location. I believe this is where the old California Tortilla was many years ago. The inside had a lot more tables than I thought and the space was bigger than I thought. If i'm being honest, I first chose this place due to the conveyor belt, robot, and $20 lunch price point. Unfortunately, I only kind of got one of those. To my shock, the price increased to $25 for lunch and the conveyor belt was no longer working. I was honestly most excited about the conveyor belt. I saw some reviews that said due to covid they stopped it but if you ordered things, it was sent that way. Unfortunately I think the conveyor belt hasn't been in use for a while because they had decor and everything on it. They did have to robot but it only delivered drink and desserts sometimes. There were even times the robot was on its way to deliver something and the waiter stopped it in the middle of the walkway and deliver the item himself. I wouldn't say the experience was bad but I think it was subpar. Although I did like that the tables give you individual pots because I've been to some places where six people have to share one pot in the middle and it's chaos because you have to reach over people so the individual pot was great. In terms of the actual food it was not bad. The server was actually nice and brought us angus beef which was a dinner item, although we were there for lunch. I mad a great sauce from the sauce bar. I loved the appetizers they had. The fried rice and noodles were exactly how I love it. The fried rice was how i'd have it growing it. All and all loved it and will probably go back at some point. Parking was a little of a hassle so I would keep that in mind. Even during lunch it was hard to find adequate street parking.

Yelp
My partner and I came here for dinner on a Friday evening. The place was not crowded. It's a nice, clean, well-lit atmosphere with an Asian motif. Everything was good except for one thing, which I think is pretty important and influences my final score. When we arrived, I told the server we were new to hot pot and we wanted to try two broths. He showed us the iPad ordering device and told me that we should order a half and half pot for $1 extra to get two broths. So, I ordered a half and half pot, and then ordered a variety of meats and fish. We went up to get veggies, which were all being stored at a good cold temp and all looked good. Then a single SMALL pot (they have two sizes of hot pot) was delivered to our table, half one broth and half the other. As I put some of the ingredients in (we were feeding two people), the hot/spicy broth spilled over to the other (tom yum) broth, and essentially turned the whole meal into a spicy broth meal. We got no taste of the tom yum. As we ended the meal, I noticed that other couples had two different pots. We essentially were cramming food for two people into a single pot (and it was one of the small pots, not one of the big ones). As we went to pay the check, I asked the server if we should have gotten two individual pots, each with a different broth. He said "oh yes. I should have told you that." What??!!? So, we basically spent well almost $90 (including tip) for a single small pot of spicy broth mixed with other broth, and having to spend the time minimizing the transfer of broths from one side to the other by minimizing the amount of food we put into the small pot. Yes, I'm ticked off (and I don't tick off easily). The meal would have been very good, but I feel like we got taken advantage of and the server, when he saw us struggling to keep the broths separate and knew he should have been served two pots, didn't say a word, apologize, or offer us any discounts. I reached out twice to the restaurant through Yelp, but heard nothing back. Again, the meats looked good, the veggies looked good, the sauce station was a nice addition. But everything was crammed into a small pot that tasted the same. And they charged us an extra dollar for the privilege! Ugh. I'm really disappointed - and ticked off.

Yelp
This used to be my go-to spot for hotpot -- the food was great, there was a wide variety to choose from, and the membership discount card along with the free dessert were definite perks. However, ever since the change in ownership, we've stopped going. They did away with the discount card, and the free dessert is no longer offered. The hot bar has also become inconsistent -- some days you'll find chicken wings, other days you won't. I would've recommended this place under the previous ownership, but unfortunately, not anymore.

Best part is they LOWERED their prices to $19.99 for lunches and $29.99 for dinner and weekends. Ambiance is hip and fun, especially if you can read Chinese (see my photo of the label on the wall). I whole heartedly recommend coming here for authentic Chinese hot pot. Nom nom nom!

Yelp
Hot pot city is an all you can eat hot pot restaurant located in Rockville. It truly was all you can eat including desserts! There were only a few items that costed a couple dollars extra so the total ended up being at $30-$35 per person which was nicely priced given all the food we got. We ordered off of an iPad at our table and got to select from a variety of broth, meats and seafood. Then we went to the open refrigerator to grab some veggies, noodles, and a few warm dishes like lo mein and fried rice. There was a sauce station where you could mix your own sauce. Finally, we had a number of dessert items to choose from including matcha ice cream! Overall the amount of food we got for the price was good and the overall taste of everything was good! Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
This place use to be nice, but not anymore. Went there on a Saturday at 5pm in November. me and my partner were the only people in the restaurant (which we liked but questioned), all of the veggies were sitting out there, old and stale. fruit flies around the self serve sauce area, hot foods have been sitting there for a long time, got some rice from it and it was dry and hard to chew. Their broth was filled with chuncks of ginger, I kept chewing on ginger every couple of bites, idk what that's about. There were 2 workers working, they were singing loudly, It was disruptive. Their meat serving size was pretty decent compared to other hotpot places but then again it's an all you can eat place. I wish they doubled down on being a good hot pot restaurant instead of serving sushi and ramen and hot foods. I wouldn't recommend this place if you really want a real hotpot experience. This place is named hotpot but not a real hotpot place. 2/10

Yelp
You order your protein on an iPad at the table and get vegetables, noodles etc from their "bar". Had the signature spicy broth (after all it's their signature). Proteins were all very good quality (albeit the crabs were very small). Everything was fine. No rice cakes though. Ir was fine, personally can't give any hot pot restaurant 5 stars

Yelp
Hot Pot City is located in downtown Rockville. There is metered street parking nearby there are many broth choices for hot pot here. I like how there are appetizers, including kimchi, and matcha soft serve for dessert. Most hot pot places I have eaten at only have the hot pot itself. You use an iPad to order the meats and seafood. There is a decent sauce bar, and you can pick out fish balls, lobster balls, vegetables, and more to cook in your broth. I like this place.
google avatar

Kylie D.

Yelp
Food was great, but the variety was pretty average. I wish there were more veggies. Meat was high quality, and the soup was delicious. We came on a Saturday night and had to wait around 45min to be seated. Once seated, food and drinks came promptly. Staff refilled soup reliably. Vibe was a bit more rundown compared to other hot pot places in the area.

Yelp
Came here Xmas for hot pot with the family. We usually go to Kpot or other local hot pot places(there's so many). Its been a few years since I've been to Hot Pot City though so I decided to give it another try. Based solely on hot pot, I now prefer this place over almost all other local spots. The variety of meats, the service, and the cost seem better than a lot of the other options. My kids also liked the various included desserts too. The only downside I'd really mention is that parking may not be the best.

Yelp
I went to Hot Pot City for lunch and had a great experience. I've been to hot pot a few times before so I knew what to expect! We ordered on the tablet and our meats and soups were brought out very fast. The restaurant has individual bowls so everyone can choose their own soup flavor. Our waiter was very attentive in filling up our drinks and asking if we needed anything. I also appreciated the flavor of the broth. I got the tomato and the person I was with had tom yum, both were delicious and better than a lot of other hot pot places in the area. Hot Pot City is unique in that most of the veggies are in a separate section near the front/sauce bar and only the meats, drinks and premium extras are ordered on a tablet. Overall, I would return to Hot Pot City!

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I'm sad that I can't find the pictures I took, but that the online pictures are great and representative of the experience we had. My husband and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was a perfect time to come. Neither of us had ever done hot pot before, and the staff was very kind and patient in explaining to us the process and how it worked. I had the miso broth and my husband had the spicy broth, and we shared with one another. We tried an array of meats (pork, chicken, beef) and everything was delicious. I am also a huge veggie lover, so I absolutely loved being able to help myself to vegetables of all types as all you can eat to include in the soup. There's also an all you can eat food bar with rice, chicken, and some vegetables (this might vary) as well as a bar for dessert and sauces and spices. I absolutely loved how we got to build our own hot pot and tweak it to what we like. It made a fun lunch and activity for both of us and I look forward to coming again with family. The establishment was very clean. Everything was neatly organized. Sometimes I worry about all you can eat places but that was not the case here. Everything was spotless. The wait staff was extremely attentive and kept bringing us refills and checking on us to refill our hot pot or if we needed anything else. If you haven't done hot pot, this is a great place to come. We had a wonderful time and felt very supported in our first hot pot experience! Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
We went during off-peak hours on a Sunday (around 3:30pm). Food is good and I really like that you call for service from the iPad instead of hoping for the server to show up in a few other AYCE places. Word of warning though: order the extra spicy Szechuan soup base at your own risk - I am used to spicy food and that made my digestive system rebel for days.
google avatar

Diwen D.

Yelp
Clean AYCE hotpot place, with self serve dishes and sides. Service is fast and friendly
google avatar

Daylon H.

Yelp
Overall, I'd give this place a 3.5 out of 5 stars. While the lunch special itself is a solid 4 to 4.5 stars in terms of value, the overall experience left a bit to be desired. The self-serve bar was great, with a nice selection of fresh veggies and noodles to build your pot. The hot bar, on the other hand, was underwhelming--we didn't end up finishing what we picked from there. The meat selection was limited but good quality, and ordering everything through the iPad (soup base, meats, drinks, etc.) was convenient. All tables seemed to use built-in hot plates, which was a plus--no dealing with tabletop burners. The restaurant was clean and the music wasn't too loud, creating a nice atmosphere. Booths can be a bit cramped, especially if you're with a full party or have longer legs--we noticed it even with just the two of us. Where things fell short was the service. It started off fine, but as the lunch rush picked up, they seemed understaffed. Our server was doing their best but clearly overwhelmed, which slowed things down toward the end of our meal. There were a lot of extras outside the AYCE lunch special, some of which are typically included at other hot pot places, so that's something to be aware of. Still, the lunch deal is a great value--just don't expect perfection across the board.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite hot pot places in the area. They've made a few changes since my last visit, as its mostly all self-serve now for everything except initial broth and meats. Seemed to be still the same variety as before, plus with an expanded buffet, there's a lot more choices. They had a few really good dishes like pork ribs, glass noodles, cold spicy chicken, and some meatball dish that was tasty, but don't know what kinda of meat was used. Still $30/pp but doesn't include soft drinks now. Service was good and I like that you only put in new orders for meat. Sauce bar still kinda limited (would have liked some sriracha), but nice to see they actually refilled and cleaned it often. Ice cream machine out of order again, seems like a McDonalds problem.
google avatar

Yelp
Overall, food was fine (Standard - clean and fresh) but not many choices as I expected. I like the idea they have appetizers bar around the corner and ice cream machine.(There are more selections but need to pay) Anyway, all you can eat price (Dinner) seem a little high for me - but if you are a person can eat a lot - maybe it is value for you.

Yelp
Amazing food, excellent service. The ambiance here is absolutely to die for. Have been here so many times and keep coming back!

Yelp
Enjoyed our meal. Great service. Great value. The meats are cut thin, the seafood is good, the veggies are self serve now. Desserts are included. Overall, we would come back.

Yelp
Really solid spot. Came on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm. Inside wasn't anything fancy and had a very fast food vibe. At time of writing it was AYCE lunch only but that included a full bar of pre-made foods too- most of them were dried up and sitting out for awhile by the time we got there. There's also a soft serve with matcha and vanilla ice cream. They had a decent sauce making area and selection. Loved that you can order and reorder on an iPad and it's very clear what the prices are vs what is included in the AYCE. And very shortly after we put our order in, all the foods arrived. I thought everything was pretty fresh and in decent sized portions. There weren't that many non beef options - I wish there was a bit more pork. The upon noodles they had were great. I liked that they have a process for leftovers even though it was AYCE while you still have to pay about $6 per pound, it is great that they have this option to reduce food waste for people who really liked and wanted to finish the food that they ordered. The key is to not just pay for broth but if you had leftover meat and vegetables... half the container cost me $11 and it was a whole other meal. Overall the broth was good, service was fast, food was fresh, Jasmine iced tea was amazing... it was a great post hike meal for my friend and I.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! Great variety of veggies and meat. Soup base is flavorful too. One of the best places in Rockville. Would recommend to friends and family.

Yelp
Probably my favorite hot pot in the Rockville area. There sure has been an influx of hot pot places here! Hot Pot this, K pot that, how do places stand apart? Quality and variety of their foods for one. One thing I dislike are the small little flies that I see in other hot pot places. Not here! Their sauce bar thankfully has a clear cover slides that helps prevent flies to be attracted. Good sauce bar too. They also have an ice cream machine and included small buffet of filler foods (I'm a sucker for fries and egg rolls) and for soda lovers, free sodas! Beef brisket, special beef for dinner, shrimp paste, pork meatballs, cabbage, crown daisy, spinach, corn, various tofu and balls, all good! The one thing I wish they had was crabs, which other hot places offer. It seemed there was only person waiting on all tables but they do have that robot that brings your food to your table to help out! Our server/host was very pleasant. He did everything, from bringing food out, drinks, and refilled the sauce bar. They have a time limit of 90 minutes to finish and come early unless u want to wait.

Yelp
A group of us came on a weekend ($33.99 AYCE dinner weekend) and it wasn't too busy. No one greeted us at first until finally a worker came out of the kitchen and saw us. They have a good selection for hot pot items, and ordering is done on the iPad. The sauce bar was also pretty good. They have a food buffet bar too with different items like chow mein, smashed cucumbers in garlic, cold chicken in spicy sauce, fried rice, and more. Desserts include soft serve ice cream, shaved ice, black sugar ice pudding, coconut sago, and more. Basic drinks (soda, tea) are also included. We had a good time, and food came to our tables fairly quickly. They also have a robot delivering drinks sometimes. Broth could have been more flavorful though (regular signature spicy and bone broth). You can also do a half and half for broth, even for individual pots, which was nice. Our waiter was friendly and checked on us often. There's street parking and several garages in the area, with free two hour parking in the Rockville Town Center (not too far away).

Lauren P.

Yelp
I've tried a lot of the hot pot places around here and this is definitely the best for food and value. For 29.99 (on the weekends) you can get all you can eat hotpot plus it includes a small buffet of foods, pick your own veggies, and, of course, a sauce bar. The service was really great here too! I accidentally ordered a drink and they were quick to remove it with ease. They're also pretty quick about getting refills or orders out to you. Cannot recommend this place any more, definitely will become my go to in Rockville!!

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 4 and didn't have to wait to get seated. The atmosphere is very open and vibes were great for a casual setting. The meat quality was surprisingly good. The brisket is perfectly fatty and the lamb didn't taste gamey at all. The seafood and vegetables were very fresh and we were able to order 3 different types of broth. The food also arrived pretty quickly around 10 minutes after we ordered everything on an iPad. On weekends for lunch AYCE for $33.99 isn't bad for the price point. Would come back again!
google avatar

Dontae G.

Yelp
Listen I'll just say this, I've been here three times! Yes, that's right three times and I absolutely love the people and the food! Out of all the hot pots I've been too in the dmv this is the most flavorful broth. A1!! Oh yes take my word for it!! Pardon my lack on the pictures!
google avatar

Yelp
First time here for lunch and my friends and I enjoyed it! They were even nice enough to accommodate one of our friends that had a gluten allergy which was really nice. Usually for AYCE they would require everyone at the table get the same but they allowed my friend to do a la carte! For a Friday lunch the ambiance here was pretty much quiet. Not many tables were filled but it was nice for a quick lunch with family or friends! AYCE hotpot for lunch is $22.99 but the menu is a bit more limited than dinner. There was no enoki mushrooms option for lunch which I was bummed about haha. The food choices were alright to my liking but there is a variety of options for meats, seafoods, veggies, tofu, even certain drinks! My table ordered a bit of everything so we got to enjoy ourselves to the fullest. Food arrived pretty quick after we had ordered on the iPad at our table. I had chosen the tom yum broth but it was a bit too much "sichuan" taste to my liking. Maybe I'll try a different broth next time. What's cool though is that they have a sauce bar station and an appetizers station! You can create your own dipping sauces at the sauce bar. The appetizers bar has multiple different prepared sides such as garlic cucumbers, cold spicy chicken, orange chicken, etc! We went straight for the sauces and appetizers after ordering and the food arrived as we finished up at the sauce bar.

Yelp
Went there with my former coworker for a nice birthday lunch. I have been missing a decent hot pot meal since moving out of the area, and Hot Pot City did not disappoint!! Fresh ingredients, flavorful broths, abundant sauce bar fixings. Not to mention the hot food bar... all for $19.99 at lunchtime, such a bargain!!

Yelp
The $80 takeout combo special was pretty good. The combo came with five different dishes: crunchy fried shrimp, garlic bok choy, Sliced Beef and Ox Tongue in Chilli Sauce, flounder, and the main dish: Spicy Frog pot (with lettuce stem, chili pepper, and pickled pepper). Rating 5/5: The Spicy Frog pot was excellent. The frog pieces felt like they were first fried and then stewed in the pot along with the other ingredients. The pieces were tender, juicy, and spicy! The lettuce stem was soft and flavorful. The pickled pepper tasted superb! The serving size of this dish is plentiful! The four of us barely got through three-fourth of it! This was the star of the combo special! Rating 3.5 or 4 out of 5: The Sliced Ox Tongue dish was good. The three other people in my party thought the dish was amazing. They thought the chili seeped through the meat and the overall spicy flavor mixed with the dense meat was an unforgettable combination. I, on the other hand, did not find the dish to be as amazing as my friends would make it out to be. I just thought the spices and the meat worked well enough for it to be a good and simple dish. 2 or 2.5 out of 5: The garlic bok choy, flounder, and crunchy fried shrimp were so so. The dishes did not stand out. They tasted as you would expect. Unfortunately, the three dishes were just too simple. Every bite was uninspiring. There were plenty of rice. Also included in the combo was a sweet drink and some egg rolls. For $80, the amount of food we got can easily feed five adults! The frog dish alone can probably feed two adults! If I were to go back for another round of takeout, I'll probably only get the frog dish though. 4/5 overall.

Yelp
Met up with some friends and since we were filling chilly, we were in the mood for some hot pot. A quick Yelp search led us to Hot Pot City in Rockville and thank goodness! A Monday night wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. The snazzy thing about this joint is that you can order everything on the iPad on the table and most things are delivered on this cute lil robot. We went with the AYCE option and I loved that each of us got our own little pots! I got the tomato broth, friends got the tom yum and mushroom. They had assorted meats, seafood, vegetables, and other hot pot add ins. Also had a good sauce bar and some hot food line items included as well. Save some room at the end of the meal, as they also have dessert!

Yelp
AYCE with soda and tea included. You order selections via an iPad app. If it says the price is zero it is part of the AYCE price. A few items have an up charge. They have a few Korean items. Kimchi soup base. Soju and kimchi. Good service, good selection, tasty. I have been to 20 different hot pot places. This one is pretty darn good. They have a small Buffett that is also included. But I would skip it and save room for the hot pot. Tongs and baskets by the dipping sauce.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to Hot Pot City and it did not disappoint. Their $20 / person AYCE lunch deal is great. They have a nice selection of meats, seafoods, and vegetables/sides to choose from. The soup is very flavorful. Servers were very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We will most definitely be back.

Yelp
Wow, this is like a slice of Taiwan in the middle of Maryland. Absolutely love this place. The food is fresh and super high quality and the selection of meat and veggies are amazing. It is definitely worth every dollar. The ambience is also really lovely, somehow being both comfortable and homey and also hip and super cool with it's automated robot that brings things to your table. Hands down the best part though is the service. The staff are so kind and accommodating and really helpful for us first-timers.

Yelp
Excellent assortment of food. Very helpful Service. Went out of their way to share suggestions and bring requested items and explain heat. (listen when they talk spicy levels) Casual atmosphere Definitely, I do again, and again

Yelp
Accepts both cash and credit card. I believe they also validate parking, but double check with the staff there. First off, this was our first time visiting Hot Pot City. I must say, I was impressed with the service. We came here during the early lunch hours on a weekday. They offer tons of food options here. There is even a hot table with tons of sides if you want to eat those with your hot pot meal. Also, most drinks here including soda is included in your meal. They also offer hot jasmine tea and iced jasmine tea. Yes, this is an AYCE business. Highly recommend their sour cabbage soup. Their meals were very fresh and their veggies were good too. Decent sauce station with enough options for making a decent dipping sauce. To order your meats / veggies / soup base, you order through a tablet and it's very efficient. They offer different pricing for lunch and different and you can pay extra for certain items that are not included in the base AYCE menu. I believe there is a time limit here so make sure you order all the sides you want. The staff here were also friendly and informative. We came here during a non busy time so I'm not sure what it's like during the busy weekends. Overall satisfied with our experience and will definitely revisit in the future.

Yelp
Really nice restaurant. With great service. Once you learn the process of ordering the food, the cooking process and the unique sauces that you build yourself ends up with a very delicious outcome. This restaurant was a very pleasant date night experience.

Yelp
My first hot pot experience, not sure why it took me this long. This spot is located in Rockville, and it's a fixed price per person for the hot pot, kinda like buffet style. We walked in without reservations on a Friday afternoon and were seated immediately, it's a pretty big space with a lot of seating options. You make a selection of the broth you'd like in the hot pot. Now let me tell you, as a Nigerian, the spicy broth is SPICY. Unless you're an OG and know what you're doing, I'd recommend you start off with the regular broth. You will have the option of adding many spices into the broth, so if you try the broth and feel like you can tolerate some more heat, it'll be better to add them later. There are sooooo many protein options, and they were all very well seasoned and fresh! Beef, pork belly, chicken, shrimps, fish balls, lobster balls, octopus, all included in the fixed price. There's also a multitude of veggie side options that you can order and add into your hot broth. There are also a variety of drink and soju options that can be ordered separately. This was a great experience alone or with friends, loved ones, big or large groups.

Yelp
Worth the drive. Amazing food with fresh ingredients and thoughtful self serve appetizers. Servers were friendly. we loved the traditional deserts, which helped cool off the spicy food. Will be back soon.

Yelp
My husband and I drove by Rockville to have some good hotpot for weekday lunch. Ambiance: Medium size which can fit a good number of groups in the restaurant. The layout was neatly organized. Service: Each table has tablet built in. Everything is ordered on the tablet to be served when you placed an order even for drinks and broth. The service was pretty fast but considering there were only few customers, it was not impressive. Food: The quality of each item was average but didn't impress us compared to Hot Spot in Northern VA. The great thing about this place is that they don't have soda fountain, but they do free soda refill for one time charge. It is not served cold so better that you ask for a cup of ice. Overall experience that we had was okay. I don't really have anything stood out to me.

Yelp
The bone broth soup is probably the best soup I've ever had. The fish filet is great and the other soups are really good also.

Yelp
Hot Pot City was a tad underwhelming. Sauce bar was poorly stocked when my group visited, and I personally wasn't a fan of how certain ingredients were cut (for example, the pumpkin and sweet potato were cut very thin, so they fell apart quickly in the broth). At the same time, service was good and the restaurant offered some ingredients that others do not so it really depends on what you're looking for.

Yelp
We went there for lunch, kids height under 50 inches/130cm is half adults' price. Overall, I like their food and hot food service. Basically, as soon as you seat down, you can grab some appetizers at the front. My son is 136cm, so he was charged full price - they have good choice for the kids but he doesn't eat as much as we are, so my husband thinks it is overpriced. This is my son's favorite hotpot joint (good deserts!). I am hoping they can do a discounted price for kids who is over 130cm and 3rd grade, not really eating much

Yelp
I never thought I would give a hot pot restaurant five stars since it's really more my wife's thing and not mine... But this was outstanding. I've been to every hot pot restaurant within a 5 mi radius because my wife absolutely loves hot pot, but for me, the broth is usually lacking in flavor and depth and it's a one hit note for me since everything is cooked in the broth... even though you can create your own dipping sauce. But this is my second time at this location and all the broths are delicious. It doesn't matter if you get the bone broth, mushroom, tom yum, pickled vegetable, or spicy...they're all excellent. My wife loves the bone broth. I've tried them all and my favorites are the pickled, and tom yum. In fact that's what I got today in a split bowl. However, I'll probably try the mushroom again when I go back next time and ask them for a side of some of their spicy sauce that they use in their spicy soup. Only several restaurants offer shrimp paste and fish paste and they're one of them. Both are outstanding and taste like dim sum. You can also tell that they know what they're doing in the kitchen because other dishes that they prepare in-house, like the spicy beef, taste like they know what they're doing and not just some kind of a basic hot pot franchise operation. They're also well organized, and everything comes out quick and fresh. The other telltale sign that they know what they're doing is that the place completely fills up with Asian diners. By the time we left, we were the only Caucasians in the restaurant. That tells me that we're in the right place. When you go to the other Hot pot restaurants in the area, they seem to be filled with mostly Caucasians which should tell you everything you need to know.
