Hot Stuff Spicy Chicken and fish

I hadn't been here since I moved to Murfreesboro 8 years ago. I moved back to Antioch recently and wanted to go there immediately due to being a previous frequent customer. I ordered a giant fish sandwich with spice level 3 and an order of okra. The okra was fried in clusters like it had been previously frozen, thawed and then frozen back together. It tasted old and had an aftertaste. The entire thing was inedible! The fish was chewy. I will never return here!!!

I figured that I would give them a shot since my staple, Helen's, is closed on Mondays. I ordered a fish sandwich (hot) with Mac & Cheese. The spice was good, but it's just a sprinkle of seasoning on top of the fish. I think it would've been better if the fish was completely coated. The Mac & Cheese was bland. It wasn't seasoned at all.

tried it for the first time and regret this place. FIRST OF ALL WHY DID IT SMELL BAD WHEN YOU WALK IN(You couldn't smell the food AT ALL(no chicken or fish being cooked) but it was just like some burnt plastic that smelled across the place. The food was not worth it. took a long time to make 2 small orders, as you barely get a good/reasonable amount of food/sides. chicken had no flavor and tasted bland. inside looks like a knockoff of wing basket to be exact. Its just another of those "clone" chicken places that are overpriced, nothing seasoned, small amounts, and scummy marketing overall

I ordered a fish sandwich with cheese among other things, and the slice of cheese had a tiny little eyelash on it. I threw the entire sandwich away. I was already home, so I didn't bother to take it back. I just won't be ordering anything from here anymore. Also the fish itself is so thin, it seems like it's just batter and nothing else. Definitely not your typical Mom & Pops fish sandwich! If you want the best fish sandwiches in the area, head over to Zeus Gyros! A single order comes with 2 large pieces fish (seasoned to perfection) and a side! I only came to Hot Stuff to try and support, but was let down.

Not impressed at all. Not taste in the hot chicken or Mac and cheese. Jar pickles being sold in foil for 50 cents is a joke. Save yourself the disappointment and drive down the road to Prince's Hot Chicken in Antioch. Review the pictures and see for yourself. Also look at the "hot tenders" hardly no seasoning on bread, just so you get and idea of how lightly seasoned it was. The quarter you can see the edges didn't have any sacue.

First and last time for me. I ordered the fish and two tenders meal and it was horrible. The fries or fish were not thoroughly cooked, and everything tasted as if it were cooked in super old grease. Honestly the overall experience was a 0/10. I ordered via DoorDash but that shouldn't have mattered at all. I wouldn't recommend feeding this to a dog honestly.

Ordered bc of a Facebook recommendation in a community group! All I order was a 6 piece wing and they were really good! All flavors are dry except the sweet heat which is what I got. Staff was friendly and professional. Will definitely be going here again.

The tenders were dry I wanna say they were over cooked. The fish filet was extremely thin, the collard greens were cold and the blandest item of the whole meal. However, I did order an extra side of Mac n Cheese and that was hot and good. Lastly, the order comes with pickles, onions, and mustard and if you don’t ask her for it they won’t include it in your meal even though the menu says it’s included. Service is definitely lacking in that department. Overall, it’s just ok I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. Gowdy’s Seafood was MUCH better in my opinion and you get great service too.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but I tried it and loved it. I got the 3 wings / 1 fish / 1 side meal with lemon pepper seasoning and mustard potato salad. The wings and fish were really nice and crispy. The lemon pepper seasoning was better than most other chicken places so that was a nice surprise. It also came with 3 pieces of bread: 2 for the fish and 1 for the wings. I called in advance to place my order and they said it would be about 10 minutes. It ended up taking a little longer, but I didn't mind because I could tell everything was cooked fresh. I would definitely recommend this place!

Solid food! I've ordered delivery from them twice and my food arrived fresh and hot. The first time I got the 1 fish/3 wings/1 side combo with potato salad. The wings were perfection. I wish I could remember which spice level I got bc they were SO good. The fish was well seasoned and the potato salad was very good. I tasted my friends' baked beans - they were tasty as well. I haven't been into the store so I don't know anything about the atmosphere but the food is delicious and fresh.

Today marks the third time in a row they've left out the sides. Food is still good, but I'm not going to to be back, cause I dislike paying for stuff and not getting all of it.

‼‼trash trash trash ‼‼ i wish i could give 0 stars but ill tell yall one thing, i never talk down on a restaurant but ill never go here again don't waste your money or time. they couldn't get a simple order right quarter breast chicken hot it came out original and they sprinkled seasoning on top after i said something and sent me on my way im not confrontational so i took my order and gave it to a homeless guy i'm cool on them i'm guessing its under new ownership i haven't been here in a while so oh well

Nashville is famous for its "Hot Chicken" and finding a location that serves this recipe is not difficult with a vast number of local spots serving their varieties of hot chicken with varying degrees of spiciness. The Hot Stuff restaurant is located conveniently on Bell Road in Antioch is typical of most locations you will find. They are located in a shopping center so there is ample parking and all parking is free, this is not typical of many other hot chicken stores closer to town. The store is clean and the staff are overall friendly. You order your selection at the counter and there are plenty of tables for dine in options. You can choose your spice level. You get a lot of food for the money, a three piece boneless tender meal with sides is more than enough for one hungry adult. On our visits if you are unsure of a menu item or spice level the staff is not really helpful in providing any descriptions, suggestions or samples of the sauces. You pretty much need to know what you want and go with it.

After paying for extra fish on a sandwich but, not receiving the item. I was told I can only get it the next time I placed an ordered. I was also told I could not get a refund for the item not received nor would I be compensated for inconvenience when I returned.( I only asked that they replace the 1 sandwich since I can't get a refund for whats missing.) Their response was "No" I could only get my missing item if I placed another order.. wait! How does that work? You charge me for something don't give it to me. But, I can only get it if I order with you again. Sounds like you are forcing me to spend more money with you get what is owed to me. "Sigh" The fish was good. Cheap bread but, that's minor. The customer service (management) is awful..

Jay is the best owner and the food is amazing its super clean and you get what you pay for I highly recommended to anybody out here wants a good food

Drove past this place way too many times!!! She had the 2pc fish sandwich and I had the 3pc fish with medium spice. I walked out onto the deck and she said crack that box open, that sandwich is money! I have to agree! The fish was still really hot after the drive home. It was perfectly cooked. We also got a 12pc chicken tender with medium fixins. It was great! The chicken was also still hot and moist when we got home. Tried ranch and ketchup with it and both worked out great, but I cannot help but to think about what some white gravy would taste like with them also... She said we might have found our new go to. Best part is I did not have to wait 2 hours in line at Hattie B's (not a fan anyway) and it cost less.

I've been looking for a new fish place after being stabbed by a few fish bones from a previous place. I'm sad that I haven't eaten here before. I tried their fried fish on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. The texture was perfect and I could tell that it was fresh. If you haven't tried it, get the 2 piece fish with lil spice and lemon pepper. You will NOT be disappointed!

This place has great chicken, but they close whenever they feel like closing. They're supposed to be open until 8 but were closed by 6. It is ridiculous to never be open for the posted hours. If they close earlier on Sunday's, they need to update their hours.

I must say this. My first 2 visits was completely very satisfying. My third visit was my last visit. The employee was chewing on a straw. Taking orders,dealing with cash an cards. An going back an forth in the kitchen. Look like he had been chewing on it for hours. Great food but I have to pass.

Been to other location, but was disappointed to see my food barely had seasoning. Can't be hot stuff looking like this.

The inside of the restaurant looks horrible I don't even want to stand inside of that place and it hasn't had the same quality of food since they sold it to the Asian people Food Lacks flavor storefront looks worse then the old princes location just go to princes or Hattie bs

This is one of my ole' standbys for a decent fish sandwich...you can select your variations of spice as far as the chicken and fish! I've only tried the fish and the fries...the fries are the big thick ones which I like...it is always jumping in here so it is best to call in your order! I have wanted to try the mac n cheese but everytime I order it it is sold out...i guess it means it's that good...and i have had the chicken salad which is good as well...seating is adequate and customer service is decent but just ask for AND check your condiments before you leave I went back on last week and got the macaroni and cheese as a side and I wish I hadn't. It wasn't good at all...it tastes sweet...won't get it again...

Typical chicken wing joint... location is close and convenient, so I've been a few times. There's definitely been some customer service issues in the past; and judging by other reviews/pics, sanitary issues as well. There seems to be new management, so I decided to give it another try over the weekend. Overall, not bad... decent for an impromptu wing craving. I'm definitely a light-weight when it comes to venturing into the spicy realm, so I ordered plain wings. They were ready in 15 minutes, freshly cooked, and hit the spot well enough. Everyone was busy, yet polite; and I didn't notice any disgruntled customers like I have in previous visits. The 10% off yelp feature was a plus. Moral of the story: I'm not praise dancing or writing home about it, but I still may order from time to time when a random semi-late night wing craving hits.

They are primarily hot chichen joint. Less option for Seafood. However, the fish (Tilapia?) was juicy and with crispy batter. And they do NOT take Yelp coupon. If they improve customer service and speed, they can earn higher rating

Not bad. I am up here in Nashville up here on business and this is my third hot chicken meal in two days. A friendly staff and really no wait, not something you will find at the hot chicken spots made famous on the food shows. The breading was a bit uneven and the extra hot really had no bite. The chicken was tender and wasn't as grease laden as other spots.

Really good hot chicken place. Best times to go is right before lunch rush or a little after lunch rush. Spiciness is good, but like every hot chicken place it should sell milk! Would recommend, but only on those hours.

I used to love this place but they've changed owners a few times and the service/quality of food has just deteriorated. The size of their tenders are a disgrace for the price compared to their competitors. I ordered the 6 piece tenders and fries and almost gave it back. The owner did throw 3 more tenders in but they are just sad in size and are often I feel over cooked and dry. I'd rather just go to Prince's or Hella Hot and get better value for my money!

Freezing cold means it's a good, no, a great night for some hot chicken. Fairly close to the freeway and easy to find, I put my order in only to find out that most people call their orders in because the chicken is cooked to order. So, I ended up cooling my heels for about 30 minutes because a few other customers had called in some fairly large orders. The chicken was very good, but I think it was the hot sauce that elevated the meal. The catfish also had the sauce on it, and it was hot yet so flavorful I couldn't help but lick my fingers a time (or more). The restaurant is basic and a little unkempt, but I wasn't there for the decor or the atmosphere. And when I return, it won't be for the ambience either.

I ate here today for the first time the giant fish sandwich is absolutely delicious not too salty just rite on the other hand about the chicken quarters were too big to me which made the meat kinda dry,maybe if the quarter was smaller in size would have been different I wish they would have separated the quarter but it could have been absolutely delicious as well the food was delivered so I can't say about the service but the food is A1

Hot Stuff - Conflicted as the dry spice rub is full of NHC flavor, but poorly executed. Very uneven coatings and the variation from Med. To Hot was dramatic. Nasty minced collared greens with something like canned ham. The chicken & fish itself were right out of a frozen Sysco bag. Pedestrian at best. This place fit the ambiance of Antioch. Omg! You have got to try this place out. Two of my best friends tried this place on a whim and were not disappointed. One friend had the 10 piece naked lemon pepper wings with fries. My other friend had the 3 wings Cajun, 1 plain fish with Mac and cheese and fries. I had the giant fish sandwich Cajun with fries. From one taste of the fries, we all were hooked. We all pretty much cleaned our plates. Our food together was under $30 and ready within 20 minutes. Can't wait to order from them again!

Love to go here for lunch break. Lil spice is my favorite and I always get the lunch combos. I don't like the greens. Mac n cz is nice and cheesy and flavorful. The tea I always say is diabetes in a cup it so sweet. I love it though.

Now THAT's fried chicken done right!!! The chicken tenders are okay, but I wouldn't waste my taste buds there. Get the fried chicken breast with its delicate balance of heat, flavor, and texture properly coated with the perfect seasoning that will make your mouth water! I am obsessed with hot chicken and friends kept telling me to go here. They were right!!! The french fries are perfect, the chicken is juicy, and the batter is crisp! As far as hot chicken goes, it far surpasses the wannabes like Prince's and Hattie B's!!! For me, it ranks second ONLY to Big Shakes (the world's greatest chicken)! That's a huge compliment!!! If you are in the Hickory Hollow area, check out Hot Stuff and you won't be disappointed!!!

Their chicken wings are great and we get the fries too but their onion rings are sad. Just marking those off the list to not order again. Love their wings!!

Great food. I usually stick to the breast quarter. Medium has good flavor and spice, get the hot if you enjoy spicy foods. Lemon pepper is really good on the wings too. For sides Ill usually get the fries and baked beans are really good. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is for the wait. I always call ahead with my order and they will typically tell me about 30 minutes till its ready. It is consistently much longer than that. I dont mind waiting for food to be made fresh, but if its going to be an hour, tell me it will be an hour so I can plan accordingly. I definitely recommend trying hot stuff but call ahead and then double the wait time they give you.

Chicken tenders and maybe fish is only decent thing. Wait times are ridiculous and PLEASE stay away from ALL of their sides. Just horrible .

Nashville Spicy Chicken and Fish! The very distinct spices they use on the food here is sooo good. However, I won't go higher than "mild" because the spices can really sneak up on you...especially if you eat a piece of chicken on top of a piece of bread that has soaked up the pickle juice AND the spices! All in all I WILL be back!

Just ordered some spicy chicken on door dash. Got my food really fast, I liked it it was good. But I'm at the dmv as you can imagine starving and theres is a long wait... Unfortunately this people sent no napkins or utensils, annoyed since I'm literally eating in the street.

This was my first time having hot chicken and it was damn good! I got the tenders with medium hotness level and it was the perfect amount of heat. The tenders were juicy and the outside was crispy. The baked beans I had were great and had nice chunks of meat but the fries were soggy. The place is in a strip mall and was a little dirty but what do you expect from a chicken joint.

So after many times of venturing here with nothing but good things to say about this place it finally done bad by me :( I came here on Sunday like so many times before and ordered 2 lemon pepper combos that included fries and drink. Once i got home my wife and I noticed that the fish was not cooked all the way thru, no big deal its not too far of a drive so after calling REPEATEDLY I finally got thru and informed the lady of the situation, she asked if I could bring the fish back in order to fix it and I happily said yes ma'am. So once I got there and told the lady that I was the one who called, she took my return raw fish back and had them recook it. Well,...8 mins later I received the fish back and checked to see if they were done....Not only were they not done but not even close to hot! and was the exact same fish we brought back! WTF! I informed the guy who i guess was the cook of this issue and all he said was "Hey its the best I could do!" WTH!?? ..... I showed him the raw fish and he seemed not to care much at all,..I'm thinking its Sunday and maybe the devil is testing me cause i really wanna jump over this counter right now! but I just left the food there and walked out! Its going to be a WHILE before i venture here again! breaks my heart cause outside of this incident, the food is really good! maybe not come back on a Sunday again....

This is a hole in the wall in a small strip mall with a few other restaurant choices around it, but the food was GREAT. The prices were reasonable, the serving sizes were good. I'd highly recommend. Be careful though, their mild is a little spicy. It would be a 5 if the sanitation rating was higher, I got mine to go, but noticed they had a 94, and it wasn't the cleanest. The floor was sticky near the counter, and it didn't look like the floors had been cleaned in a while. I will get it to go again!

Why I like this place? 1. Very GOOD hot chicken and it comes in different level of spiciness. Medium is the way to go if you like some heat (Siricha sauce kind of heat). 2. The french fries 3. Safer neighborhood and private parking. 4. You get 10% off by ordering online (limited time). 5. Friendly staff. What I don't recommend: 1. The catfish. Way too dry for me. 2. Fruit tea. Very very sweet! 3. Don't come in on Friday or Saturday night without calling in first. Although I called in 30 minutes before coming in to pick up my order. I had to wait another 20 minutes to pick them up. Note: - The location is in the building behind Sonic. So, Hot Stuff is a pretty good name for this place. Good thing they don't have 'fast' in their name. The food came out VERY slow. How slow? My order went in around 2:20pm today and the order was ready at 3pm. They say 20-25 minutes - but it was easy twice that amount of time. So, even if you plan on eating there - order ahead! The only thing they do different if you are ordering in or to go is put the boxes they serve the food in into a bag. However, part of the problem may have been my friend ordered the Wings which, I know, tend to take longer. I ordered the 3 Chicken Tender meal with fries. It comes out like most hot chicken does - bright red tenders on top of white bread with some pickle slices. I ordered mine with some ranch on the side. I have to say - this chicken was very, very good. You could tell the Chicken was fresh and, of course, since they make every order when you order it - it was piping hot when our number was called. The sweet fruit tea was VERY sweet. The fries were average. Seemed like any grocery store type fries - so, nothing really special. But, you aren't going here for the fries or the tea - you are going for the Hot Chicken - and I have to say - it was pretty damn good. I love spicy chicken and whenever I get chicken - I always opt for spicy if available. This has to be some of the better hot chicken I have had. However, I haven't eaten at Prince's before - mostly because I attempted to go there once and it was packed and the place looked filthy. I can't imagine trying to put food in my mouth that comes out of a place that looks that gross. This place wasn't spotless - but wasn't dirty by any means. I will go back for sure. In fact, just thinking about it and my mouth is watering. Great hot chicken for sure. And, if you live or work in the south Nashville area - it's the closest option you have! Give it a shot. Just call ahead first!

Good food. But GHETTO FABULOUS!!! Cashiers talk loud and curse in front of customers which is not professional at all. I would never eat in there. I always get my order to go.

Hot chicken tenders are amazing! The breading and flavor are just right. The prices are reasonable, one of the main reasons I miss Nashville!

I had the pleasure eating here 2 separate times. I recommend the fish and chicken combo. It is the best of 2 worlds. The fish is fried to perfection. Also, they serve the combo with 2 pieces of toast, which was quite tasty. I recommend getting "hot" flavor level. I had the "little spice" during my first visit and it wasn't spicy enough, the "hot" has just the right amount of heat. This place is a hidden gem and must go while in Nashville.

Ordered fish, wings, and mac n cheese. The latter had a piece of hair in it (see photo). Also, I ordered whiting but got what was certainly tilapia or catfish. Never again. On the semi-plus side, the chicken and spice coating was ok...Not by any means good enough to want more.

I have truly given up on this Hot Chicken Joint! I used to eat here twice sometimes three times a week that's how much I love hot chicken! Then it became maybe once every two weeks, now it's barely once a month. I decided to try one last time tonight, husband picked up a breast quarter medium with order of fries and medium sauce on the fries. He had his usual Wings Hot! Got home and opened the box to see that the chicken shrunk in size as if they killed a baby chicken out of desperation!!! I mean the bread was bigger then the chicken . The seasoning wasn't the usual flavor I understand that it depends on the cook and that it might not be the same but come on what happened to consistency? Don't get me started on the wings! I will never come back they have lost my business.. If you are looking for CRISPY juicy HOT CHICKEN who's flavor is delicious and it is made to order hit up A&C's spicy chicken and fish off of HAMILTON st. Right across from the Walmart by WingStop! It is way BETTER and the service is amazing! Call ahead so you don't have to wait because a breast quarter takes 20 minutes to cook! You won't regret it I promise! And it's the same distance! Sorry Hot Stuff you had more then 3 chances with me!

My go to place for hot chicken! Good food, great prices and the fruit tea is delicious. Like others have mentioned, get it with no ice and dilute it when you get home.

Food was great! Big portions small bucks! Wait time was good. Requested no bacon on the fries they messed up and added bacon but fixed it with no problem and even gave us the messed up fries!!!

Food is bomb as shit here. Though I get the same damn thing every time, you can't beat 1 big ass fish fry with wings and Mac n Cheese for 4.99$. People complain about the lady on the phone and she's like that because she knows their food is bomb as shit so she can talk to you however she wants and your still gonna order this bomb ass shit. So something you definitely have to put up with. Try speaking to her in different accents. I've done British, Fresh of the Boat, and Ghetto... makes the call more fun. Enjoy.

Great chicken the spice was a perfect hot! I tried there new online ordering for pickup and I got there just as it was getting bagged up nice and hot.

I love this place! The staff is always helpful and the food is made fresh to order. I was a little skeptical because I hadn't heard many people going here, but I'm so glad I found this place! It's so close to where I live, so this is definitely going to be added to my list of late night spots! I got the lemon pepper wings and they're were spot on. Most places overdo it on the lemon, but these were perfect. Fried to perfection and crispy!! So so so good. Definitely recommend.

The chicken is good. No, it's okay. However, don't waste your money on the fish. It's more breading than fish. You can compare it to the fish you would get at grade school. Cheap, flimsy, and salty. Personally, it's not the hot chicken you would expect. The lemon pound cake even disappoints :( I've tried this place out twice and I'm just not impressed.
