I had a great stay at Hotel AMANO in Berlin. Over the course of my visit — first on my own as part of a group, then with my partner — I stayed in three different rooms. Each one was clean, quiet, comfortable, and well-designed. One room faced a peaceful inner courtyard with greenery, another was more spacious with a kitchenette, and the last had a wonderful view of the cemetery nearby and Berlin TV Tower. The location in Mitte is excellent — close to the U-Bahn, elegant Auguststraße, and within walking distance of many main attractions and monuments. Breakfast was tasty and varied, and overall the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. The staff were polite and helpful throughout. I especially want to thank one receptionist (unfortunately I didn’t catch his name) who was kind, attentive, and helped us move to a quieter room on the fourth floor before a rooftop party night — that room ended up being our favorite. The rooftop bar is another highlight, offering great views, drinks, and music. However, one issue should be improved: the hotel offers a guest discount at the bar when charging drinks to the room, but this wasn’t applied consistently. One receptionist managed to fix it, but another couldn’t, and we had to pay full price just before checking out. It’s a small detail, but it matters — guests should be able to rely on published benefits. Still, I had a truly enjoyable experience at AMANO Berlin and would gladly return and recommend it.

We have only just checked in but Wow! We are very impressed with our room, whist it is small it had a balcony, The TV is huge (all German channels, I believe) and the bed is comfy! We had great service from the gentleman at the check in tablets and there is a rooftop bar! They have tablets in the room that you can request a room service or not (environmental friendly option), arrange breakfast, FAQs and Wifi information. We are here for 3 nights and feel like this has set the bar high for the rest of our Europe trip

Great location, easy check in and nice staff However the air con would not cool the room properly, we needed to open the window but the sound from the street is quite loud and disruptive We only got one pillow for each bed and the room service didn’t replenish our coffee and milk daily

we stayed for a few days to have a nice family getaway. the breakfast was great every morning, our room was spacious with several closets, a working fridge, a small coffee maker, a safe and a small bathroom, and they have a lovely rooftop patio with a great view (although they already closed down at eight pm during our stay). the bar next to the lobby sells somewhat reasonably priced wine by the glass if you want a nice place to chat before you retreat to your room. however, there were some glaring issues during our stay, the biggest one being their staff, more specifically their customer service skills. upon check-in, both young people behind the counter seemed very inexperienced with one brushing off customers and leaving without attending to them and the other one trying to be friendly, but appearing to be entirely clueless in the execution of her job and unable to answer most questions. ordering at the bar in the evening, we had similar experiences, because the bartender was always a different person and always leaving to get god-knows-what without telling guests where or why without serving them beforehand. the maid knocked on the door repeatedly every morning at rather unpleasant hours too. overall, this hotel seems to have poor management. the mattresses are very tough too, and although in berlin, this hotel doesn't have beer from Germany at all- which isn't that big of a deal, but disappointing, really. great access to public transportation, though.

Google
Great hotel with great location in a trendy neighbourhood. It's easy to walk or get around in Berlin on Metro, tram, bicycle you name it. I booked a big spacious room and loved it. However the big rooms all face a graveyard so it would have been nice to be informed of it. Wasn't a deal breaker for me but I'm sure will be for some. Not much service as you self check in and check out hence the 3 stars but staff are generally friendly and helpful.

Overall a good experience but a few notes: 1. Our room was facing a graveyard with a huge garbage and recycle bin - super loud from 7-8 am when the truck arrives to collect 2. The amenities and rooftop are amazing 3. We loved the location super central 4. Staff is super useful

It was an unforgettable experience for me. It’s delightful to receive such service at such an affordable price. The hotel’s location, lobby bar, and terrace bar were excellent. It’s a very elegant and peaceful establishment. Having a high-quality coffee machine in the rooms is also a big plus. The location is just a few kilometers away from the most touristic spots in Berlin. Special thanks to Ms. Neslihan at the reception. She was very kind throughout our stay and assisted us with almost everything, from directions to other needs. I definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Yelp
Hotel Amano - London - Terrible Hotel We arrived at the Hotel Amano at 10 pm for two nights. We were given a tiny tiny room that was meant for someone traveling light for the night. We had been on vacation in Israel for two weeks so we both had large suitcases. There was only two feet between the head of the bed and the TV wall and one foot on each side of the bed. With the two large pieces of luggage we had, the room was a fire hazard. We were constantly tripping over the luggage and each other. The bathroom was also tiny and the half shower flooded our floor each time we used it. The lights did not work properly and the max brightness was way too dark. No amenities at the hotel at all. We were charged 515 pounds a night for our tiny room! We found out that the Waldorf and Mayfair, two five star hotels were available for the same price. This hotel ranges on the Internet from $206 per night to $358. We paid around $550 for a shoe box room. We met two Brits on the roof bar who said the hotel is in a soft rollout, there were all kinds of deals available and we were paying too much. We were paying top pound for a shoe box. We spoke to a manager who waisted 30 minutes of our time going into the back to speak to someone. In America she would be considered a user car salesman. She offered to buy us breakfast but we were leaving the next day at 6am. My advice is look at any of the the other of the fabulous hotels in London. This one charged us top dollar with no value whatsoever.

Yelp
Hotel Amano was lovely. The room was modern and had room for all of us (a pull out couch that they had set up when we arrived) with a mini kitchen that we didn't use. There was a nice lobby and a bar (that was closed for a party the first night we were there) and a bar down the road called Gin and Tonic (that was closed the second night we were there). Bad timing for us, lol. Perfect and clean. Just what we needed as we weren't going to hang out in the room anyhow.

Yelp
This is a hostel, not a hotel. Front office leader, Christoper Huebgen, is extremely rude with clients and it feels like they are doing a huge favor even talking to you. The hotel looks nice, but with service like this you will not feel welcome in the hotel nor in Berlin. This hotel is to be avoided unless you want to risk being looked down upon and not have problems resolved when they arise.

Yelp
What a lovely and warm hotel! The staff are special and our room was awesome! We had an apartment on the top floor with a kitchen so entertaining our friends was easy. There is a grocer across the street that sells a wonderful Bordeaux for just Euro3.99! Buy 2, it's that good! Well located as the main train station is just 3 minutes by cab. And it is a relatively short walk, 2.3k to the Brandenburg Gate and the Jews of Europe Holocaust Memorial. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This review is for the bar only. I was staying at a nearby hotel on the same street and was looking for a lively, classy lounge/bar area to spend the evening on a Saturday night. I was drown in looking through their windows while walking down the street. It seemed busy and buzzing with warm colored, modern interior. They had a wonderful jazz band playing that night. The space was just the right size, with the L-shaped bar, some lounge seating, and just enough standing space to allow for mingling. I was able to get the last free seat at the bar! The menu had a good variety between cocktails, wines and different spirits with varied prices. I thought the price for their excellent wine was a steal at 4 or 5 Euros!! Also I was very impressed with all I could see from my seat: the staff had a great time and it was a pleasure to look at them working. I haven't tried any of the cocktails or beers, but I wanted and craved each and every of the selections that were created in front of my eyes. Everything was so clean, beautifully presented, with delicious looking garnishes and appropriate glassware. It's a hotel bar but it didn't seem touristy at all! The space seemed filled with mostly younger looking European or local crowd.

Yelp
Great deal in super location. It's fun, it's cozy, clean, I stay here every time I am in Berlin. Everybody is nice and helpful. The bar is great to meet friends that are in town.

Yelp
I just finished a weekend stay here with a group of 12 so we got a pretty good view of more than one room. First off, the central mitte location is great - easy to get places & you can walk to most of the sites. The hotel itself has nice decor and friendly service. As for the rooms we had a mix of standard doubles and apartments. The standard doubles seem to vary in that one was small but nice with no balcony. Another had a large balcony, but the bathroom was sort of situated in the room without and actual separation. I was a little surprised that there was no mini-fridge. And, as the person before me noted - there are no toiletries at all. I do like the little bottles, but I'm trying to get over that because I think it's more environmentally friendly to have the large pumps of soap and shampoo that they can refill - which they do. So, I'm okay with the no toiletries thing. The apartments were great. Modern, clean and spacious with a nice kitchen and lots of dishes and cutlery. The ones we had were two bedrooms with a very large sitting room that can handle two additional fold out beds if you want to squeeze six people into the apartment. We had a few aperos in the apartments before going out and 12 of us were completely comfortable in there. And, I heard that the soundproofing is good - so if you are staying in one and decide to retire before the rest of the party you won't hear a lot of noise from the living room. One glitch was that the internet was down for a full day which was a bit frustrating for those of us who needed to work (or update Yelp opinions!) and I was told by the desk that they also often had problems with the internet if guests were using Macs to connect - although I had no problem with my Mac connecting once the internet was back up and running. The breakfast is also really good with a large range of cold cuts, cheeses, muesli, fruits, veggies, bacon, eggs, toast, breads, pastries. But also as the prior post notes, they seem to be confused as to whether or not it's included in the price. They told us it was not included in the price. I went down one day anyway, planning to pay for it. When I checked out and tried to pay they said it was included. But, they said to another one of our party that it wasn't. So, there was just a little confusion around that. The bar is nice and seems to be a buzzing nightspot. The cocktail menu includes some interesting choices with some fat washed spirits in some. Also of note, they were really relaxed about taking a 1pm check out instead of the usual noon without charging a late checkout.

Yelp
Good atmosphere. Pretty packed on a weekend. The list if bourbon is one of the most extensive ones I have seen in Berlin so far. The highlight is the roof top lounge though with a great view of the Fernsehturm. Romantic spot for a first date.

Yelp
i thought this place was ok. there were no toiletries in the bathroom at all, which was kinda ghetto. we had a triple room, which means 3 twin beds. the bedding was comfy enuf though. what really annoyed us though was that on the first day, we asked if our rate came w/ breakfast, and the person at the front desk said no. however, as we checked out, another girl at the desk said our rate did come w/ breakfast, so basically we could have eaten 2 free breakfasts rather than paying. we asked that they deduct the breakfast cost from our rate since we didn't get to eat it, and they said they couldn't do that. rude!

Yelp
ehrm. ok. maybe i was just unlucky by the day.... the hotel is very nice, people are polite, room is big and tidy. BUT.....no breakfast because of not enough space for everybody. WTF? and the painters are painting the staircase in front of my room (which is ok, if they weren't noisy). all in all.......unlucky i guess, but still I WANT MY BREAKFAST WHEN I'M HUNGRY, damnit.

Yelp
We are staying here right now. It isn't too expensive and it fits right in the artsy neighborhood of mitte. The rooms are small like all other place in the area. We will definitely stay here if we ever come back.

Yelp
This hotel stinks. I travel for work, as I'm a flight attendant. I paid for 3 people and it wasn't cheap... I expected a modern looking room and got a room that had just minimal. I almost booked with Marriott bc you get what you pay for... I should've stay with my first instinct. The front desk wasn't knowledgeable when I had questions and housekeeping did just an ok job. I had to beg for more towels . My son was given a cot that broke when he slept in it ... the cheapest thing I ever saw. I felt like I was in a hostile not a hotel/ apartment room. Huge disappointment . By the way, my comforter was torn with a big hole in it... nice attention to details. The only thing nice was the lounge downstairs , as the roof bar was closed the entire stay... they never mentioned this when I booked.

Yelp
Great hotel! We recently stayed for four nights in a medium apartment, which ran about $600USD. The room included a very comfortable bed (German style, with two twins side-by-side), a desk, and a mini kitchen that included a small fridge, a set of dishes and silverware, a stovetop, and a small dishwasher. The room was bright, clean and very comfortable. PROS: - clean and very chic for the price - very friendly and helpful staff - excellent location, near public transportation - very reasonably priced - in-room safe CONS: (All very minor) - Breakfast is pretty expensive. The selection is extensive, but at 15€/20ishUSD, it's a bit too expensive. There are lots of great breakfast spots in Berlin, so think about going elsewhere. - Room pictures of the website did not necessary reflect the type of room you may actually receive. I booked an M apartment after looking at the pictures. The room didn't look quite like the pictures, however. There was, for example, no small sofa and the only seating was a desk chair. The kitchen had table settings for two people, but the only table was a desk and there was only one chair. Consequently, the second person would have to eat standing or sitting on the bed. Of course, this isn't a huge deal, but if you're traveling with a partner and plan on preparing (or at least just eating) some meals in the hotel, perhaps you could ask reception for an additional chair. - Housekeeping woke us up at 9:00AM two mornings. Perhaps there are a lot of business travelers who leave the hotel early in the morning, but we were two tourists who prefer a leisurely pace. At any rate, this is nothing a do-not-disturb can't take care of. All in all, we'd love to stay here again! Also, if you're in the area, try Dolores (Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 7) for pretty authentic California-style burritos and The Barn (Auguststraße 58) for amazing coffee.

Yelp
The service at this place was great. This hotel was very very clean...the only weird thing is that there is no separate private shower in your room. Basically, if you are going to take a shower, anyone else in your room is going ot be able to see you. Its very very strange. For that reason, I would never share a room at this hotel with anyone other than by boyfriend. But if you are looking for an intimate stay, this is the place to go.
