"The vibe: Outré and exhibitionist  Location: Covent Garden Top amenities: The rooftop bar Best for:  A fun weekend Where else should those with an exhibitionist streak go than Theatreland? In Covent Garden, with theaters on either side, this old office block—the former premises of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, no less—had a full West End makeover before its 2022 opening. The first hotel outside its native Germany for boutique brand Amano, this space feels truly cosmopolitan: the buzzing basement bar feels more NYC than London, restaurant Penelope’s fuses Israeli and Spanish cuisine to superb effect (don’t miss the pork belly), while the seventh-floor rooftop bar could be in LA, but for its sweeping views from the Shard to the Houses of Parliament. As for the rooms, they’re truly Berlin: simple, slick, but with a hint of exhibitionism—“Goldy” corner rooms sport a glittering golden bathtub looking directly onto the street. Don’t worry, there are curtains if you’re not keen to put on a show. But if you are? Welcome to the cabaret." - Julia Buckley

We stayed here for one night as a birthday/anniversary city break. The hotel is ideally located for the Picadilly line, ( covent garden ), and District line, ( temple ). Upon arrival we were greeted in a friendly and professional manner and asked if we were celebrating anything which we said yes. We arrived early and requested if we could leave our overnight luggage with them whilst we went out and that was quickly catered for. Once we came back later that afternoon check in was quick and easy. The room we had was a Goldy, and I'm guessing that because of the colour of the bath. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. The ameneties in the room were, a safe, slippers, robes, shoe horn, hair dryer, towels, kettle with an assortment of tea bags, nespresso machine with pods, milk, sugar and biscuits. On the desk in the room was a plate with a selection of chocolates which also had Happy Birthday written on it in chocolate, they had obviously remembered the earlier conversation, a lovely touch. Later that evening we had pre-booked a table on the hotel rooftop bar which offered great views. We highly recommend this hotel and we will be staying there again in the future.

We have had a very good time in London. The hotel cannot be better located... the overall service is very good, but in terms of pricing on the high side. All worked out pretty well and the staff is very attentive. A pity that the top roof bar has also private events and is close to the hotel guests.

Stayed with a group of friends for the weekend while going to a show. It's a lovely hotel, very modern. Rooms ate very dark though and couldn't open the window which was quite stuffy. Bar was nice. Rooftop bar wasn't available for use as there was private functions on. That was disappointing. Overall a lovely hotel and so central.

Great location but that is as far as it goes. Ridiculously small rooms - one night for EUR545 does not go a long way. Toilet in bedroom beside pillow, basin in the room as no room to fit it in with toilet, tiny shower again encroaching on bed. Managed to get a room change to have a separate bathroom and was given a 20 per cent discount on restaurant which on closer examination only valid for groups of six - this for a lone traveller! Honestly London needs to wake up if it wants to continue to attract visitors. Would have been better to stay out all night and get early flight home rather than get fleeced at this hotel. Stupid lift system and dark prison like decor. Never again.

For a hotel that costs this much you would expect a few basic things, like a proper bathroom door that fully closes, or blackout curtains that cover the entire window, so you don't have a bright room as soon as when the sun gets up. Space is extremely reduced, but that was expected, there is no real wardrobe, but also expected. What is not expected is the lack of a coffee machine, for example, something extremely basic and I'm stunned is not in the room when it costs that much. 250 a night for instant coffee packages, just ridiculous. The bathroom had leaks of water, and although it was "pretty", it wasn't functional at all, taking a shower meant having the entire bathroom floor full of water. In terms of privacy, it was also very bad, don't think you'll be able to do your business without your partner being able to hear everything, and I mean everything. The location is amazing, that has to be said. And you are paying a premium for it. Staff is also very friendly and the hotel looks nice. But that's where the good things end.

The hotel location is amazing, the decoration nice and the staff friendly. The main problem is the fact the restaurant is transformed into a night club every Friday and Saturday evening. We got 76 decibels of Electro music in our room located 1rst floor which makes our Saturday night absolutely awful. Difficult to understand their business model trying to be both a night club and an hotel…

The hotel that values its events over its guests. Avoid if you think you can use the rooftop bar. Here for 3 nights and with no prior notice have been told it is closed all nights for events. It’s one of the key selling points on their website but ….. nothing they can do because events trump guest experience. The staff tried but in the end it’s a nice hotel without a rooftop bar. If you are ok with that, apparently they aren’t because it’s the central component of their website, then stay here.

We had been in Europe for about a month when we arrived at the Amano, we were met at the front desk by Leander, he was professional, extremely knowledgeable and very friendly and we knew immediately this was going to be a great experience. We arrived before check in time and Leander was kind enough to store our luggage as we set off to explore London. Our room was very comfortable, quiet and clean on time daily and located in a great part of the hotel. The hotel is located near everything we wanted to visit, a short walk to the Tube and buses. This is a property and if you are luck you will have Leander when you check in.
