"This restaurant extends a cordial invitation to sample the popular classics that showcase the terroir: Bresse poultry, frogs' legs in parsley sauce, lake fish, cherries jubilee and vanilla ice cream. The chef sticks to tradition, much to the delight of his guests. Dine on the lovely terrace, in the shade of the hundred-year-old lime trees and overlooking the river." - Michelin Inspector

We are a senior couple travelling to Burgundy having rented a car in Lyon and wanted an overnight stay after a two flight trans-Atlantic journey. We were guided by Trip Adviser. This is not a fancy hotel but it represents true comfort and great value. It was our first hotel on our trip and proved to be the best. We had a room on the river side (the Saone runs along the front of the hotel) and it was furnished simply and comfortably. The owner was very kind and friendly. We looked tired and were tired when we arrived and she promptly grabbed one of our bags and showed us to our room on the second floor. She made tea for my wife and poured excellent white wine from Macon for me. After a stroll around the quiet town we arrived back and were shown to our table in the dining room and had a most enjoyable and imaginative meal. We are picky foodies and it was smiles all the way. The wine list was good and fairly priced. We'd return to this hotel in a heartbeat!

This hotel is in on the banks of the Saone, just across from Beaujolais. It makes an excellent stopover or could be a base for a longer stay.||||It is a traditional French hotel of the best type. We had a large corner room with a view over the river and another smaller room, both perfectly comfortable. The restaurant was good; the best type of French hotel restaurant, with several menus at various prices. Everything we ate was good, and the house wine good value. The only minor criticism is that the bar is pretty perfunctory, although there's a large terrace.||||The hotel is right by the river, and there are walks in both directions along it, great if you happen to be travelling with dogs.||||Definitely one to remember for future stopovers.

If you want to experience the real 'French Thing' at this level then go here - we had a terrific time. Everything is classically, typically French and we encountered excellent service form every member of staff - including helping us chose an excellent bottle of wine - and it was first class. We bought a case the next day. Room was just fine - clean and comfortable and overlooking the bridge (we heard a couple of vehicles but it was certainly not enough to disturb us) with a fabulous sunset. The dining room experience (food and service) was great and we had a thoroughly terrific meal in a dining room full of locals. Charming evening altogether.

Stayed for one night Friday 17 July 09.||Chose this hotel because wife and family had stayed there 10 years ago and we were revisiting old memories.||Unfortunately things have changed for the worst.||The hotel appears to be trying to be an exclusive dining club with rooms.||The rooms in the hotel were very basic and not up to the standard of a chain such as Ibis or Campanile whilst being just as expensive. there is limited car parking belonging to the hotel but plenty of room by the river if you are comfortable leaving the car in public.||The dining experience was average but at very high prices. A meal for two with a bottle of wine and water will cost easily over 100 Euros. Service is average, no particular problems but not that great.||Unfortnately we will not be going there again.

Found this little cosy gem by accident. Quaint Little hotel on the river and next to a lovely little bridge in a small village/town of Montmerle sur Saone ||Very clean and comfortable rooms. Restruant food is so delicious and of very high standard. as good as the 4 star places we have been staying at the two previous nights. And mind you they were at the triple of the cost of this place. I believe that saying. Expensive is not always the best. ||Locals Eating here surely says something of this little gem. ||I would certainly eat and stay here again. ||Staff are very nice and caring.

This great family run French Hotel/Restaurant is the BEST etappe on your way to the South of France.||||The location in a small town/village, watching the romantic old bridge across the river. ||||Of course, you can stay there for more days and enjoy all the great wines from that area.||Rooms are clean, well maintained.||Dinner in the restaurant is a must.||||The place should have another star!

Our second visit, and the hotel and resto are as they were before; if anything, the cooking is a little better. This place remains an old fashioned French hotel of the best type, and makes an excellent stop over or a bses for bit of touring around Burgndy and Beaujolais.

Just off the motorway, this small hotel is by the river Saône. Our room was basic but a bit noisy as the hotel is situated next to a wooden bridge and you can hear the cars crossing it every evening and morning. The whole hotel would benefit from new carpets and a lick of paint.||We had a meal in the evening and it was alright nothing special. Mosquitoes were a problem, many bites the next morning…well I think there were mosquitoes!
