Hotel La Ferme combines modern, progressive design sprinkled with heritage cues.
Our "Family" room, had a Queen bed along with 2 built in bunk beds; details included: high thread count sheets, down duvets, flat screen tv, rainfall shower, safe, Nespresso coffee maker and iPod docking clock radio(not "Lightning" compatible). And the heated floors in the separate W/C & shower were very nice!
It's very au courant that they've sourced and custom manufactured many of the furnishings found throughout the complex, locally in Charlevoix or Quebec. For me, this reflects a high ideal. A few hiccups: the room lights require you to insert your room pass into a slot, which is difficult to do in the dark. $20 / person daily to use the outdoor hot tubs is a rip. There are no elevators, except main building, perhaps a pain for some, especially in snowy conditions.
The look is stylishly simple, with lots of white & grey, felt surfaces, blond and weathered wood. Think urban Nordic with rustic touches.
Nice details like elegant water glasses and "edison" type lightbulbs found in the rooms, are examples of little touches not seen in your conventional hotel.
It may cost somewhat more than nearby hotels but I think people who appreciate original style and attention to detail, will find the cost within reason.
