Hotel Arrizul Congress | Best places to stay in San Sebastian

"A few blocks from San Sebastian’s La Concha beach, this warm, relaxed and family-friendly hotel goes the extra mile for foodies and first-timers who really want to tap into the city scene. Neoclassical on the outside, minimalist and contemporary within, it offers free guided tours of the city in English, tastings of Basque foods and wines, a complimentary coffee and soft drink corner, and a handy free guide to the local restaurants and pintxo bars. There’s a petite, modern gym, and rooms come in various shapes and sizes from single (great for solo travellers) to a grand suite with a terrace, sleeping four. Brilliant value for groups or families. They also have bikes for rental – and if you’re here to ride the waves on Zurriola, the city’s surfing beach, they will store your board and wetsuit (a nearby shop rents them out). " - Dana Facaros

Very comfortable accommodations in old town San Sebastián. There is complimentary coffee and soft drinks during the day and they provide these plus champagne in the minibar. |It is located in the old town walking distance to restaurants, the beach and to the funicular. Concha beach is very close. There is a convenient market across the street and cafes around the corner. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. |If you rent a car, get a small one as the parking structure is very tricky with tight spaces. We drove to LaGuardia for an afternoon of exploring wineries. Very quaint area and always felt safe.

My husband and I along with our adult daughter stayed here in a two bed room with a rollaway and it worked great! Very central, a short walk to the beach and all the amazing shopping and attractions. The staff was warm and helpful and the rooms impeccably clean. Would absolutely recommend.

Beautiful and very clean hotel. The entrance exudes tranquility and the rooms are clean. The owner is helpful; we were able to charge and store our electric scooters downstairs. Parking was also excellent, despite my large car. The breakfast was very well-prepared and had a lovely fresh and clean atmosphere. We highly recommend this hotel. The central location is also ideal! Simply a beautiful, not too large, clean hotel. We are happy with it! Richard & Manon Komen

The good.||Bedding, bed, pillows extremely comfortable. Shower powerful and lovely big soft towels. Black out curtains too. ||Nice touch to have free drinks in the fridge in the room and water replenished every day. Coffee downstairs, although free from 12-8, was awful.||The location of the hotel is great. |7 mins walk from the bus station, 5 mins walk from the great Simona Coffee Club and even closer to Gerald's Bar.||I didn't eat breakfast but it looked delicious.||Staff were friendly, approachable and helpful re where to get a particular bus from etc.||The good / bad.||The gym is small. For a light framed woman like me, the weight selection was sufficient but a heavier man might like some heavier weights. The multi gym needs maintenance. i see it a lot in some hotel gyms; equipment is provided but not maintained and then it quickly becomes unusable. The wires need oiling, the bolt that enables the seat to be moved is stuck solid, probably with rust. The cross trainer is not working and because of where it's positioned, it makes the seated row function of the multi gym unusable. Personally, I would remove the cross trainer and replace it with a decent bench.||The spinning bike was working fully though and pretty decent.||The gym booking system could perhaps do with a re think. I'd booked for every morning when making my room booking yet one morning, I was told I hadn't booked and someone else was in there. ||The bad.||On the second day, I reported to the hotel receptionist, about 8 am, that the armchair in my room was impossible to sit on as it had a horrible metal spring at the top of the cushion, so instead of sitting on a padded cushion, I was sitting on twisted lump of metal/spring. I mentioned it again on day 3 as it hadn't been replaced. I mentioned it again on day 4 as it still hadn't been replaced and it was eventually replaced late afternoon on day 4, just before I was leaving the next day. Not good enough for the price i was paying for the room and for a 4 start hotel.||||One the whole, the good outweighed the bad and I'd definitely stay again.

We spent 10 days at the Arrizul Congress, this hotel was exceptional everyday. The staff are very professional and friendly. Quiet, and well appointed large rooms, ours had a gorgeous balcony to sit and take in the sounds of the street life. The housekeeping exceeded my expectations, it was next level clean and finished with a light signature scent in the bathroom and linens. Location is right in the centre (Gros) easy to get to both beaches (La Concha is 12 minutes walk, Zarriola is about 7 minutes) old town, the market and high street shopping and all the amazing pintos bars, restaurants and plazas. I felt like I was in paradise here. Will definitely stay again.

Great location half way from the train station to the Old Town.|The staff are exceptional, friendly and helpful. The complementary coffee area very welcome. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The beds gave a great sleep and the shower is hot and powerful. A slight downside is that you can hear some noise from other rooms, but not significant.|Breakfast provides an excellent choice of tasty foods. |A couple of lovely local bars beside the hotel for a good quality inexpensive drink.

Top notch service sets this hotel apart. Also the best cava, coffee and beverage program of any hotel. Just bring some headphones as it does get pretty loud jn the mornings from upstairs or next door rooms as the walls are thin. Parking is nearby - can’t beat the location of this hotel.

Nice smart hotel, lobby was nicer than our room which had an inner courtyard view. The free mini bar and coffee/champagne in reception were a really good touch and it was a nice location away from the busy centre but an enjoyable walk into town

Yelp
This is my first time in San Sebastián and I have to say I got lucky with this hotel. It's such a great location and has every necessary amenity you need to be traveling in comfort. The location is amazing. It's close to all the main areas to see including walking distance to all the best pintxos bars you can try. The rooms are clean and they were nice enough to allow 2 kids and 2 adults in their 2 bedroom suite. That's not very easy to find here. The staff is equally friendly and very helpful.
