Hotel Awa, Nr Puerto Varas - Explore & Book

"Hotel Awa sets the luxury benchmark high for Chilean Lake District sleeps. This swoon-worthy retreat makes the most of its breathtaking location on the sparkling shore of Lake Llanquihue, and while we’re yet to visit, we hear it's fast becoming the region’s chicest holiday address. It’s evident that architect owner Mauricio Fuentes has managed to pull off that rarest of feats: grown-up glamour that also ticks the boxes for kids. There’s a lot to love on the design front, too; expect a flawless use of glittering glass and exposed concrete on the asymmetrical façade, and a uniformly excellent mix of Mapuche fabrics, volcanic rock and cypress woods everywhere else. Incredible views of the white-topped Osorno Volcano dominate in the 25 spacious and stylish rooms and suites, all with statement-making rustic décor, liberal creature comforts and planet-kind extras. There’s also attentive staff (the owner has a summer home right next door), a superb restaurant for regional dishes paired with Chilean wines, and an atmospheric spa featuring a magnificent glass-walled swimming pool with ravishing views. But the real superstar is the setting - the gateway to Patagonia - and you’d be remiss if you didn’t make the most of seeing and doing as much as possible in this adventurist’s playground. Highs A game-changing hotel with astonishing views from every spot - all 25 rooms gaze out over the lake and out towards Osorno Volcano An architectural masterpiece - everything is designed by the owner, an architect with a love of glass, stone and volcanic-rock interiors The regional menu is extremely impressive and the selection of Chilean wines isn’t bad either The smart spa’s glass-walled pool is a true marvel Great eco-credentials: organic food, recycled glass and aluminium, a water treatment plant, plus hands-on social responsibility programmes Lows The vibe is resolutely chilled so younger kids will need to be entertained here It’s 30 minutes from Puerto Varas so not ideal for those wanting walkable town access Interiors are impressive and local materials take centre stage; if you prefer glossy minimalism, look elsewhere" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

"Chile’s southern region is increasingly known as its Lake District, and not without reason — this one, Lake Llanquihue, is spectacular, and would be even without the white-capped peak of Osorno, the volcano, dominating the horizon. It’s a setting that doesn’t necessarily need an extraordinarily attractive luxury boutique hotel, but it’s got one anyway: Hotel AWA, five stories of concrete, glass, metal, and wood, a stunning example of Chile’s specific brand of warm, organic modernism." - Tablet Hotels

Whilst walking in one would expect this beautiful place. The staff is really friendly, the drinks at the bar are super delicious and the dinner is fantastic. Rooms are very spacious with a great with. The bath is huge with a big tube. They offer daily excursions and everything try’s to make sure we had a lovely stay. Our waiter Catalina was the best and super friendly.

The view from the bedroom is stunning. The whole hotel has a very contemporary feel and we slept well. It is a perfect location for exploring The Lakes, close enough to PM and far enough away to be peaceful. The hotel arranged a day's fishing for us and a local guide took us on the Desolation Pass walk - which was excellent.

A superb boutique hotel situated on the lakeside with stunning view of the volcano. It is well positioned for access to the Volcano and others attractions in the area. The bustling town of Puerto Varas with plenty of shops and restaurants is easily accessible (you will need a car or taxi to get there) but you don't need to as the hotel has a very good restaurant and bar. The staff are extremely polite and helpful with good English language ability for those of us who struggle with Spanish. Room (space/bathroom/bed/fittings) was excellent. We had a 3 night stay and to be honest we really didn't want to leave. Well done AWA. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

What a great experience at Hotel Awa! The room was fabulous. The service was amazing! And the food in the restaurant, wow! The bread was some of the best I've ever had.|I've never stayed in a small hotel that had such a nice swimming pool, and the indoor hot tub was also good. There is a small swimming area on the lake, but the water was very cold, even in the summer, and the beach is rocky, so not too practical without water shoes.|We woke up every morning and ate every meal with a view of Osorno volcano and the many birds that flew around the hotel. Perfectly quiet at night for sleeping, and probably the best bed I have ever slept in. An idyllic experience, I would love to go back!

The view from our room was incredible. We had a full view of the gorgeous lake plus the volcano in the background. I don't think I'll ever have that good of a view at any other hotel. The hotel and staff were great. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner was excellent.

What a great experience it was. Great room with a fireplace in it. Great service and the hikes we did were really good. I booked the all inclusief and it was worth it. Really a top hotel. The service was great, so friendly; so helpfully. The size of the hotel was good. Nice restaurant, the packed lunches were great. I will come back for sure. And do again the all inclusive, if you do not book it for the room do it then for the excursions. They are all trailer made and I did travel by my self and that was not an issue. I had already some national parks in my to do list but I was not able to find hikes there and the first talk I head with the excursion organizer was about a hike in the national park which I wanted to do for years. My day was with that start so good and stayed for the whole period I was there.

The view and quality of the rooms are fantastic. We really enjoyed the excursions, the guides are excellent and attentive. Constructive comments: 1. Regarding breakfast, I think it needs a greater variety of fruits, not to mention the service, since on New Year's Day there was hardly anyone to make or serve coffee; 2. There is a noise from the exhaust fan or generator on the upper floors that urgently needs to be fixed. They changed our room, but I think the problem is serious; 3. The restaurant has excellent ingredients, but because it tries to make the food so sophisticated, it ends up compromising the quality of the food. Less is more. I also found the price of wines to be much higher than the market price; I think three times the reference value is a lot for a wine-producing country.

This hotel sits right on the edge of the lakeside with views across to a volcano,|makes best use of views with floor to ceiling glass windows.|Excellent hotel with good restaurant and friendly staff. Very comfortable room looking out over the water. Hotel on lakeside road about thirty minutes from Puerto Varas, we took the local bus into town as it stops outside hotel, only 500 pesos each way per, person, worth a visit.|Used the pool once, bit on the cold side!|Can book trips and activities from the hotel if required as there is a travel desk.|Nice hotel for relaxing stay out on it’s own.
