In Photos: Every Three Key Hotel in Germany

"The renowned Bareiss is a unique blend of Black Forest tradition and modern luxury. The architecture itself takes inspiration from the beautiful Black Forest landscape, with rustic wooden touches and the charming balconies typical of the region. Further integrating the hotel into the landscape are the magnificent gardens, while rooms are decorated in an exclusive yet homey style, sometimes leaning on country house charm, other times on baroque flair. When creating the rooms, warm colors and high-quality materials (including tasteful fabrics and stylish furniture) were given just as much importance as the luxuries expected at a hotel of this quality." - The MICHELIN Guide

Hotel Bareiss (Baiersbronn, Baden-Wurttemberg) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The storybook facades and evocative Black Forest backdrop make Hotel Bareiss a perennial favorite and regional mainstay. Over three generations, they’ve judiciously expanded the grounds and properties to form what amounts to a lusciously green estate with scaled-up resort amenities to match. The sheer variety of pools and saunas alone keeps the entire stay interesting. Elegant rooms benefit from touches of opulence like fresh bouquets, fireplaces, wainscoting, and piles of luxe linens." - Tablet Hotels

An Amazing Culinaric luxury hotel - perfect service is top of mind of every person and function and hits really high end luxury rooms and a very spa and fitness area - even if the standard for regular meals is very high - you should book a dinner at the gourmet restaurant to enjoy 3 Michelin star meal with perfect service. We stayed at the family and friends suite which was not less than spectacular

We had a wonderful 4n stay thanks to an attentive and truly welcoming staff. The half-board food and drink was delicious, and a lunch in the Restaurant Bareiss a memorable feast for the senses.||Meticulously kept hotel and grounds. We loved strolling around in the park, and hand feeding the deers in the Wildgehege.||Hot weather and no aircon affected sleep quality - table fan and cross ventilation surely helped, provided good earplugs to block out the early morning churchbells.

One of a kind - luxury, culinary excellence and unprecedented hospitality. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every second. The location is wonderful for tours, hikes and walks, but one really doesn’t want to leave the place…

Hotel Bareiss is a true gem—an exceptional, family-owned retreat in the heart of the Black Forest that has perfected the art of hospitality over generations. From the very first interaction during the booking process to the warm welcome upon arrival, every moment is thoughtfully curated to make guests feel genuinely valued. Set in a serene and picturesque location that’s easy to find, the hotel exudes timeless charm and luxury. The staff are impeccably trained, passionate, and always attentive, delivering service that is both personal and professional. The hotel is outstandingly beautiful year-round, but we especially enjoyed our winter stay. The holiday decorations transformed the property into a magical wonderland with twinkling lights, wreaths, and festive trees lining every corridor. The rooms are a perfect blend of traditional style and modern comfort—cozy, elegant, and immaculately maintained. Dining is a true highlight at Bareiss. The half-board package includes a generous and beautifully presented breakfast and an exquisite dinner each evening. The bar is the perfect place to begin your evening with a drink, and for an unforgettable culinary experience, the 3-star Michelin restaurant is simply unmissable. We had the lunch menu and were blown away—definitely skip breakfast that day to savor every course! Wellness offerings are also top-tier, with both indoor and outdoor pools, access to scenic walking trails, and a spa that adds to the overall relaxation. Whether you’re coming for a romantic getaway, a family escape, or a gourmet retreat, Bareiss delivers at every level. We return 3–4 times a year with our kids, and it continues to exceed expectations. There’s nothing more to say—if you can afford it, do it. It’s as close to perfect as a hotel can get.

We stayed at Hotel Bareiss for two nights during the winter season and had a truly unforgettable experience. The holiday decorations were stunning, with lights, wreaths, and trees beautifully lining the halls, creating a veritable winter wonderland. The service was impeccable—staff were warm, attentive, and welcoming. Both breakfast and dinner were included in the half-board stay, and the food was consistently delicious. The breakfast spread was especially impressive, and we loved starting our evenings with a drink at the bar before dinner. A highlight was dining at the 3-star Michelin restaurant. We opted for the lunch menu, which was phenomenal—definitely skip breakfast that day to fully enjoy it! The hotel’s access to scenic trails and its large indoor and outdoor pool added to the experience. The rooms perfectly balanced traditional charm with practical luxury, providing a cozy yet refined stay. Hotel Bareiss is a perfect choice for anyone seeking world-class dining, beautiful surroundings, and impeccable service. We can’t wait to return!

Our second stay in Bareiss. Again we did enjoy our stay very much.|Rooms are very large and comfortable. Nicely decorated, a bit oldfashioned, but very cosy. Excellent bed.|Bathroom is nice but shower (corner model) shows its date: it feels a bit cramped. A walk-in shower would be nice.|Breakfast is out of the ordinary: amazing choice, amazing quality.|Diner feeled more refined than 3 years ago: we did really appreciate the fine cuisine. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.|The pool/welness area is amazing and very well maintained.|We will certainly come back

We had a super nice room. The facilities are in excellent conditions. Decoration is outstanding. Service was good but fall short of the high expectations I had for such a hotel. Twice we had to remind the waiter for our orders (water) that took too long to come, he was in fact not very attentive to our table. We had a really bad experience with the receptionist at the spa, but the masseuse made her best to compensate. When we got home we got a cake and letter from the owner apologizing for the inconvience. I will give it a second chance. I have it now a third chance and again the rooms, swimming pool, spa, recreational facilities, everything is in perfect conditions! The food is really good. Service is also good but again, they seem to forget that drink orders are part of the service 😂 I would continue to come. I really like it. Many good things to do in and around. This time we came with a baby and I lust say it’s a very baby friendly hotel. I’d also wish it was easier speaking other languages than German. You always find someone who speaks English or French and they try, yet it is a heavily German hotel.

Yelp
One thing to note upfront is that room prices are per person per night, not per room per night. That's pretty clear on the website, but since it's atypical, it's worth pointing out. From the moment you pull in you are going to be treated well; when you do arrive, just pull up to the gate (which will open automatically), pull around to the front, and let them whisk you and your luggage inside, and you car to be parked for you. From the front desk to the restaurants to the facilities, service was wonderful. The rooms are classical European, but more spacious than usual, and extremely well maintained. Expect feather pillows though, so if you are allergic to dust or down, you may want to bring your own foam pillow. Our room had a nice little balcony with a great view of the hills, even if the weather for our stay didn't let us use it much. That said, even cold and rainy weather won't keep you from using the sizable pool complex. They have three outdoor pools, one of which is heated and which you can can enter from inside; we had a fantastic time on a cool rainy afternoon lounging outside in the heated pool. If the weather is nice, they also have a second entirely-outdoor pool, and a natural pool that was closed for the season. Inside they have a normal pool, plus several varieties of hot tubs. There is a second entirely spa area that is sans clothing (except for a couple hours during the early afternoon, maybe 1200-1500), and has multiple spas, dip pools, hot tubs, ice baths, etc. Both the normal pool area and the sans clothing area have multiple sitting areas as well, so we spent hours in there alternating between reading, swimming, and snacking from the selection of cakes/pastries and beverages (all included in your room rate except bottled water for some reason). Definitely a relaxing way to spend a drizzly day! As for the food, even if you don't take advantage of the Michelin 3-Star restaurant (which is a substantial extra cost obviously), the food included in your room rate is unbelievable. The breakfast buffet is the finest I think I've ever seen, and the room rate also included a light light option at the pool, mid-day snack, afternoon tea, buffet dinner, and a midnight snack. Suffice to say, you're going to eat well! Wonderful service, amazing facilities, fantastic food, and a beautiful location, but you are paying full price for all of that.

Yelp
Where is the six star option when you need it?! This place is absolutely incredible. Like, best meal ever (at the 3-star Michelin restaurant snugly nestled into the lodge-like building where every expertly and creatively crafted dish bested the last), best spa ever (huge indoor and outdoor pool/spa facility with several saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and a large beautiful quiet area for naps/relaxation, and best brunch ever (are they kidding with that charcuterie station, my god!). Staff was super nice and the grounds were immaculate. They even had a cute schoolhouse/camp thing for kids which I'll be taking advantage of once my daughter is old enough. The list goes on. Even though your wallet will be significantly lighter after spending a night here (or even enjoying a meal at the restaurant), it will be an experience to remember and well worth every penny spent. I can't wait until my next visit!
