Onomichi Beer Bike Tour Is Coolest Way to Explore Japan

"A 16-passenger, specialty-built bike that is the only one of its kind street-legal in Japan, offering guided, pedaled group rides through eastern downtown Onomichi. The chic black-and-white vehicle with tan leather seats requires guests to pedal together as it visits lesser-known attractions, including the Edo-period entertainment district Shingai. Guests can choose from three tour options: the Past and Present tour (from ¥3,300 / about $22.50), which visits historic sites like a 1582 vinegar distillery and includes one drink and a croissant; the Beer tour (from ¥3,300 / about $22.50), which features a brewery tour and tasting plus a to-go cup for sipping while riding; and the Experience tour (from ¥1,650 / about $11), a multi-stop outing that provides the most exercise. Tours require a minimum of four people to book and should be reserved early so the operator can craft the right experience." - Stacey Leasca

Great location, on top of the station building. Take the stairs next to 7-11 or the lift opposite. |Our room overlooked the station but we were not disturbed by trains at night. The room was very comfortable. Great shower. Nespresso machine in room was good. Lots of plugs around the room too. |If you are tall, you will find the basin height quite low. Extra pillows would have been nice.|We stayed one night before our bike ride. Friendly staff.

Loved our stay here! The room was spacious and comfortable, with a cozy seating area that made it easy to relax after a long day. The location is unbeatable—literally right on top of Onomichi Station, which makes it super convenient for arrivals, departures, and starting your Shimanami Kaido ride. If you're planning to cycle the route or just want easy access to the town, this is an excellent place to stay. Clean, convenient, and well thought-out. PS there is an elevator right outside the station to help you up to the 2nd floor when you get out of the Onomichi Eki.

The hotel was clean and in a great location. The rooms were original and fun. We had the largest room 209 and it was great for having our other party members over for hanging out.

Stayed for 2 nights; half day to Setoda and one day in Onomichi. Beautiful furnishings but awkward layout that the sink is far from the toilet. Suggest to request for the other room layout attached in my pictures

In despite of other reviews we where not satified. The standard double room was claustrofobic narrow. The airco breezes so hard that we almost freeze or the opposite sweating out. And we slept in many hotels over the world but never in a four star rated hotel where there was no tea available. Not in the room or in the restaurant. neither at the breakfast. So far overpriced!!

Great hotel. Super stylish rooms, spotless clean and best location above the main train station. But the best part is the super helpful and friendly team. During check-in I noticed I lost my cellphone. They called several places as well as went to the stations lost and found. They helped me remain calm and in a matter of no more than two hours they managed to locate it in another prefecture. They arranged to have it sent to my next hotel. Thank you again to the Beacon team!!

We stayed here for 4 nights. It was a great location for doing the Shimanami Kaido ride (when starting at Onomichi). I enjoyed my room, it was enjoyable to see the train station platform from my window. Being on top of the railway station made the transport SO easy! Convenience shops and restaurants very closeby. I had no issue with the train noise... I sleep with a fan noise machine most of the time anyway when travelling 😀. They offer earplugs at the Reception for anyone who is concerned about it. The breakfast was a very delicious Set Menu tray each morning. There is no Buffet. The tray was full of delicious tastes. You will NOT get a big Western meal of bacon and eggs and hash browns and cereals. It is a lovely Japanese style breakfast. The staff were lovely, very helpful. We communicated easily via Google Translate. I am really looking forward to coming back again.

My husband and I stayed here for our trip to Onomichi for the cycling route. The room was a bit strangely orientated? When you open the door the bed is RIGHT there. I can't remember clearly, but I don't think we could open the door fully (to the wall) like it would get caught on the bed. If we wanted to get to the right side of the room right when we came in - we had to fully get into the room to the right side and then close the door to get to the other side or climb onto the bed. Also... another precautions is the door SLAM shut and is very loud. It scared us soooo bad when we figured that out within the first few seconds and the other few times it happened. So, fair warning about that 😅 The room has a shower/toilet room, but the sink and mirror were on the opposite side of the room. Wasn't bad but just a bit odd. TV was big, we didn't use it since we were only there for a night and part of the day but it was nice. We had breakfast, it was a japanese set and my husband had added in the booking that I had a nut allergy and they catered my food to accommodate that 😄 it was just the parfait they had replaced with a jelly of some sort but it was all very good 👍 The service of this place... is a whole different thing. 15/10 They held our bags before and after our check in/out (they have a interesting locker system where you can lock it with your suica card or an IC card and it doesn't charge it or anything but it was different. But after we left for Kobe, we got an email from them that we had forgotten a mildly expensive watch in the hotel room. My husband emailed them back, but we were already so far away, but they were willing to mail it to our next hotel for us! We were SO THANKFUL, we did pay for the fee (obviously), but they worked with our next hotel once we got there and eventually got the watch back in perfect condition. So I also just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing that! We will definitely book with you guys again whenever we plan another trip!
