We booked this hotel a year in advance for a wedding, knowing it would be our first trip with a newborn. We chose and paid for a specific, spacious room with kitchen facilities, a microwave, and a lounge, as these were essential for travelling with a 2-month-old. Months before the trip, the hotel confirmed a cot, parking space, and facilities.
Two days before our arrival, we were told the room was “no longer available” due to an error. The only alternative offered was a much smaller room with none of the promised facilities — no microwave for sterilising bottles, very limited kitchen space, and an awkward step that made using a pram difficult. With flights booked and the wedding the next day, we had no choice but to accept.
Communication and service were poor. The manager who informed us of the issue did not follow up, staff were unhelpful, and the breakfast they offered as compensation was withdrawn partway through the stay. We also had to spend extra money locally to replace basic facilities we had booked in advance.
This was meant to be a special trip, but it ended up being stressful, costly, and far below expectations. The handling of the situation fell well short of what any guest should expect.
