"This 38-room hotel isn’t just a stylish addition to the capital, it’s one giant leap for Latvian hospitality. Situated three blocks from the cobblestoned streets of the Old Town, the Bergs consists of a pair of historic buildings connected by a glass roof that allows light to flood the atrium. The hotel is part of Bergs Bazaar, a charming arcade of alleyways and courtyards that contains many of Riga’s most fashionable cafés, restaurants, and stores, and its interiors—dark-oak floors, gallery-white walls, contemporary and traditional art—successfully blend old and new. Loftlike bedrooms in shades of gray and white are surprisingly spacious for a structure dating to 1895, with luxurious stone-and-chrome bathrooms. Downstairs are two clubby lounges, a bar, and the Bergs Restaurant, one of Riga’s best. The small gym is worth a visit mainly for its city views; however, a glass-walled conference room affords an even more dazzling panorama over the rooftops of Riga."
