Hotel Das Bergschlossl | Best ski hotels in Europe

"Set in the handiest location in St. Anton, right beside the main gondola lift up to Galzig, the Bergschlossl is a beautiful, turreted old village home converted into a small, boutique hotel. It manages to combine Alpine charm and romantic cosiness with modern comfort, flair and style. Each room is individual in size, shape, décor and furnishing – and accommodation is flexible enough for groups or families. The hotel is only a minute or two from the bars and restaurants of the village centre – but set just apart, so is amazingly tranquil at night, away from any village noise. The service is good too. Give the hotel your details in advance and they will have rented ski gear delivered from nearby Intersport Arlberg, and organise ski passes in advance for you too. " - Nicola Iseard

Absolutely one of the very best hotels in st Anton. Service 10, location 10, quality of the room and wellness 10. We enjoyed our stay so much. Breakfast is very tasteful. Hotel is located at the slope, 50 meters from the main lift Galzig. Nice atmosphere

It is truly a high-quality and elegant boutique hotel where every detail is thoughtfully considered. We had a very comfortable stay. All the staff were polite and extremely friendly. Every detail of the hotel soothes your soul. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone considering staying here. Our hostess was very kind and cheerful, always helpful and focused on making guests feel at home. We extend our heartfelt thanks to her.

I don't think I have ever been that close to a ski lift before: ski in and ski out at it's best! Both the gondola and the chairlift are right in front of the hotel's ski room. However, location isn't the only thing that amazed us at this quaint, family run mini chateau (it only has 8 rooms), which also offers a gym, spa and underground parking (!). I particularly loved our charming room with its wonderful interior design and lovely art details (courtesy of owner Johanna!). While there is no restaurant per se, the adjacent Base Camp serves terrific pasta (try the truffle noodles!), complemented by an enormous wine selection. However, breakfast at the Bergschlössl was my favorite bit: served in a wonderful little room with both historic charm and modern design elements, it featured everything you need or want before hitting the slopes. ||And if you aren't tired after a long skiing day, head back to Base Camp for some serious après ski!

What an absolute Austrian gem! Situated right at the bottom of the Galzig gondola and the Gampenbahn chairlift, it really is at the bottom of the slopes. Location from the village centre is just a short walk. If you want to be in the thick of it, this is the place to be. Basecamp is the lively apres bar at the hotel, which is noisy but only until about 8pm....but hey, you're skiing in Austria! The staff at the hotel are SO lovely. We were met with the staff wearing traditional durndls and they were so lovely and attentive....remembering our drinks orders at breakfast everyday, making a lovely birthday table for my son's birthday and even presenting a birthday cake complete with candle. We had 2 rooms which were both extremely spacious and comfortable. We were in a suite which was in the tower section of the hotel which had a round bed which turned to face the view across the valley. This really has been an amazing trip and I would recommend anyone to come and stay here.

This is an excellent place to stay. Authentic Austrian feel from decorations to the Dirdnl the breakfast staff were wearing. I’ve read some negative reviews of how some staff didn’t speak English but I felt, for us, this added to the authenticity of the hotel. Klaus and Johanna were both so lovely and personable, Klaus stopped and spoke with us each time we saw him, and Johanna was extremely easy to reach with questions and quick responses. We previously stayed at an airbnb the previous year but we will not be going back to do that, we will always stay here. When asked if they could do our laundry, they left us a basket in the room the same day and had the laundry done the following morning. We stayed in the Rosengarten room; I have also read complaints about how this is “in the basement” but it’s just on the lowest floor with direct access to the ski room/parking garage/slopes. It is right next to the staff room and that can be a bit noisy in the early morning, but we figured out if we just closed the bathroom door, the noise was not bad. For us, it wasn’t a problem. And yes, this room does not have a “view” per se, it faces the driveway/parking lot, but again, that didn’t bother us and we could still look out the window to check the weather. Each day while we were out skiing our room was spotlessly made up when we returned back. It’s also attached to the BaseCamp, which is our favorite place in all of St. Anton, which added to the experience. But the locality to the slopes cannot be matched. It was so nice to ski right to the door, put our skis in the ski room, and head to BaseCamp for apres ski. That was a luxury we didn’t know we’d even missed. We had a vehicle and parked in the parking garage; it’s tiny and sometimes required some juggling of cars/service vehicles, but every time we asked it was no problem to move. We were very appreciative of the dry parking space, especially during snowy days. The only complaint that I have is that we had to leave. We already cannot wait to be back. Danke, Klaus & Johanna, we look forward to our next stay with you!

An authentic Austrian hotel in the best location. Johanna and her husband are brilliant hosts. We love to ski but going with children can be challenging and this place made our holiday so easy. Ski school on our doorstep! The food at Base camp is superb after a hard day skiing and all the bar staff were very friendly whilst we played cards with the children. The spa and rooms are perfect to have some down time. I just wish we could stay a bit longer - we are already planning our next trip and hope we can bring all our friends with families too.

We booked a one night’s stay at Bergschlossl, and we were stunned by what we received (so much so that we had to check on our reservation whether we had read the room rate right!!).|When we arrived, we were able to use the underground parking facilities which then lead directly into the hotel. We were met by the host Jutta, who was incredibly lovely and helpful. Our room was charming, and had a real alpine chalet feel. We stayed in the ‘Rosengarten’ double room. There was an iMac in the room which doubled as a TV, and the bathroom was gigantic with a large bath and excellent shower. Our dog was also pampered, with his own sheepskin rug and bowls provided! |The breakfast was the real star of the show - anything you can think of to include in a continental breakfast was there (breads, cheeses, hams, fruit salad, croissants, different Jams, cereals and granola). Jutta, who looked the part in her Dirndl, then came and asked how we wanted our eggs. Really excellent service. |Having researched this hotel, I saw that the majority of its business is in the winter (for obvious reasons). I would recommend this hotel to anyone for the walks and mountain biking on offer in the Amberg region, as it is right next to the galzig gondola and the room was an absolute steal for what we received. |We will almost certainly be returning to the Bergschlossl! |

The service received was personal and all staff were pleasant. The rooms were of a decent size, with a large bathroom with a bath and shower. Breakfasts were lavish. The hotel is very well located, next to one of the main Gondola's and main Apres Ski bars. Although close to the action, the hotel is quiet inside. I would definitely go back and stay there again.
