"A cornerstone of the fine dining scene for years, this restaurant is housed in the spruce hotel of the same name, nestled in the centre of Munich – a stone's throw from the Viktualienmarkt and the city museum. The decor is tasteful, sleek and contemporary in style, with striking pictures adorning the walls. The cuisine is classic with a modern twist, and the menu includes mouthwatering options such as braised veal shoulder or sole for two. Outside, the tables overlooking the pedestrian area are in high demand." - Michelin Inspector

This was our first time staying here, and we would definitely return. The hotel is conveniently located near the Viktualienmarkt and the Marienplatz Ubahn stop. Our premium double room was huge with a sofa and also had a nespresso machine. All of the English speaking desk clerks were pleasant and helpful. If you arrive before 300 they will gladly store your luggage. Breakfast consisted of a large selection of meats, cheeses, salads, muesli, fruit, eggs, tea and coffee in a large bright dining area.

What a lovely hotel. Clean, great service. There are no mini fridge, but you can ask and they will put something in their fridge.. I was told there is no air conditioning. They give you a fan but thank goodness it was not too hot at the time of our stay middle of July

The hotel is located exactly in the center of the city a few minutes away from the town hall! The front desk staff helpful and with a great smile! The room was spacious and very clean, because of the high occupancy we did not have our own bathroom but it was|Ok! We |Will visit that hotel definitely in the future

Our family had a wonderful stay here. The hotel was very charming, and the rooms were comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. A great breakfast was provided daily, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Best of all, the location is AMAZING. We loved being a block away from Viktualienmarkt and a short walk away from Marienplatz and a convenient train station (though we only took the train between the hotel and the airport because we were easily able to walk everywhere we wanted to go). Thank you so much to the Hotel Blauer Bock staff for helping us to have such a wonderful and memorable trip to Munich!

This is an excellent place to stay in Munich. Well located; all the staff were friendly and helpful; the rooms are very comfortable and breakfast is very good. Would highly recommend.

Particularly good breakfast with vegan oat milk and other vegan options. The beds in the single rooms are quite small, but they are comfortable and clean and there is excellent water pressure

Great location just 250 yards from Marienplatz so it's easily reachable by S-bahn from the airport, and the Old Town is right out the door. Our room had a hardwood floor which I like much better than carpet because you never know what has been spilled onto carpet. Apparently not all rooms have AC, mine did not, which may be an issue during summer. We had a reasonably sized room. I have to especially comment on how clean the bathroom was. In many hotels the shower grout and caulking have some mold, here it was immaculate. I thought the light was a bit dim in the room for reading at night. The Wi-Fi works well. Apparently Rick Steve uses this hotel for his tours thru Munich since a group was staying here. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms aren't ready until 2pm but if you arrive early you can stow luggage in a locked room next to reception. The breakfast was hearty and enjoyable.

This is like a classic old world European hotel. Great room, good location and proximity to the Christmas markets and the Hofbrau House. We arrived to a warm greeting with a front desk person who spoke perfect English. Our room was very comfortable and had a nice feather bed comforter which was great in December. The breakfast that was included was tasty and had a good selection of meats, pastries, yoghurt, cereal. When requesting a taxi, the front desk just pushes a button, and it arrives within minutes.

Yelp
If you're looking for an affordable option, in a safe neighborhood, yet close to all the touristy hot spots, look no further than Blauer Bock. There is both a dormitory-like option where you can share a bathroom down the hall, or you can ask for a room with your own bathroom. There is wifi as well. They give you a password for their portal, designated per room, and there is a limit of about max one or two devices (I forget which, sorry!) so if you connected a third device (say, cell + laptop + tablet) then one of your other devices will get kicked off and you'll keep losing connectivity. Not a biggie but could be cumbersome if sharing a room with multiple people. Granted, I had a room to myself so maybe the restriction applies to just smaller rooms. Service was prompt. Everyone at the front desk spoke English perfectly and were extremely accommodating and welcoming from my arrival, to me to-ing and fro-ing my daily touristy adventures, right up until my final departure. I never did go into the Blauer Bock restaurant that was literally right next door to the hotel or their complimentary breakfast until 10:30am (there was just too much food options around the area!) but know that it's there. Not sure why people have complained about the noise of the busy streets but my room faced an airshaft so while I didn't get much sunlight, I suppose I didn't get the noise of rooms facing the streets. Still, it's an overall quiet area. I worked in the area and came home past midnight before but felt perfectly safe, even in a foreign place. So what's around the hood? Varienmarket, whole foods equivalent, Marienplatz, high end shops just ten minutes walk. Pretty much everything you need to feel comfortably close to explore without feeling lost. I'd definitely recommend staying here because of it's great location yet affordable cost!

Yelp
The loby was kinda weird but It surely doesn't really represent the hotel itself, the rooms are very nice and their beds were pretty comfortable but they don't have air conditioning so keep it in mind when booking a room! The bathroom was nice although the shower leaked a lot (which resulted in a pretty wet floor whenever we would take a shower). Another high point is their breakfast which is one of the best ones I've eaten in a hotel (they have a good variety of food and everything was nice and fresh, tables were very clean and the staff was very helpful and attentive) If you are looking for a more affordable option in downtown munich this is a farely nice option.

Yelp
We stayed here the past 4 days and it was lovely. The staff is really nice, the location is excellent and breakfast splendid. Also free wifi as well. Next to the Marienplatz area which is a short 5 minute walk away.

Yelp
Excellent lodgings just off the Viktualienmarkt in an medieval building apparently but you'd never know it. The rooms are small but recently renovated and modern, and just big enough for what you actually need to be comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, all bilingual with no language issues for non-German speakers. The breakfast included with your stay is incredible...fresh breads, warm eggs and sausages, cold cuts and yogurt. Everything is plentiful and delicious.

Yelp
I tend to judge a hotel based upon whether I would WANT to go back. Like, if I go back to Munich, will I go online and look to see if rooms are available here? The answer, unfortunately is 'no' - but not because I didn't like it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel, it is clean, a decent amount of room in the bedrooms, conveniently located and free wifi...but there is no character, no vibe, nothing of interest. Everything was pretty much "A-OK". Oh, wait, there was one crazy thing that I absolutely loved - the power shower. It is some freaky hand held hot water power/powder jet. No idea how to explain it (evidently) but it felt like a hovercraft floating on a very powerful fine mist of water...you may just have to stay here to figure out what I am on about. If you do end up here you will be content, not blown away, but content.

Yelp
Lovely hotel in the best spot in Munich! The staff was friendly and attentive. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast was a delight. I would highly recommend a stay. The location couldn't be beat during the Christmas market season.

Yelp
Not impressed at all. Why the two star you ask then? LOCATION. You are in the heart of the Alstadt and can get to any attraction or good restaurant within minutes of walking. My room was extremely small and mostly clean. They only gave me one towel and a single sized bed is standard for old Europe, not today's traveler. I booked this hotel through Expedia who screwed up my reservation as a "senior", so the front staff shook me down for €10 on my departure. The staff was not too friendly and when I did check out I was treated like a moron who didn't understand the situation. Apparently seniors are born in 1940.....check your math front desk guy.

Yelp
Good location, good service. The hallways looked like a dormitory. The room was in need of an update, charm, or both. It was decorated with ikea/circa 1960s furniture and lighting. And then there was the Rough carpet that can essentially file the callouses off your feet. At least the soft mattress (which was too low-pretty much on the floor) and delicious breakfast made up for it.

Yelp
Great location! Room was perfect for me. Visited in 2009. Lost my pictures but rooms where quiet, clean & comfortable. Shared bathroom but I basically had it all to myself. German charm throughout. Helpful front desk staff! Great price. Close to everything-stop off at Café Frischhut (20yrds away) for the best donut ever on your way to the Viktualienmarket/beer garden (50yrds away).
