One of the most special and unique places we have ever stayed. Absolutely do it, you won’t be sorry. We had the canal view room, and loved the view across the narrow canal to the glorious church. Something to note- you will hear commentary from the boats passing below. During busy times, there are sometimes two boats per minute with microphones booming from 10 am until 5 pm or so. You’ll most likely be out during these times, and in the evening things are whisper quiet once the church yard is locked and the boat tours stop.
The room itself was utterly charming and comfortable, though the bed is quite firm. The bathroom is well equipped if short on storage. The shower has great pressure, and the jacuzzi bath has the strongest jets imaginable- heavenly after a long day of exploring.
Breakfast was wonderful, and includes a lovely fruit plate, an assortment of cold cuts and cheese, and eggs however you’d like them (I enjoyed the scrambled eggs sprinkled with salty bacon). If you have room, try a waffle too! Orange juice is fresh, and coffee and tea are plentiful.
There are a few rooms facing the street. These are a bit quieter by day, still charming, and quite affordable. All rooms have access to the breakfast room for coffee or tea, and there’s also a rooftop deck with a few seats.
Lynne and her assistant do a great job of making sure you’re okay. Lynne organized a car service back to Brussels for us which was a big help after our Eurostar time was changed.
We will remember this place forever and heartily recommend it to anyone. Staying at the guesthouse is a world-class experience. Treat yourself!
