Hotel Casa Morisca (Granada, Andalusia) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Though to English speakers it may sound poetic, Casa Morisca is one of those literal, understated hotel names — it means simply “Moorish house,” and that’s exactly what it is. This small hotel is in fact a meticulously restored 15th-century Moorish residence, deep in Granada’s medieval quarter, in the shadow of the Alhambra." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Casa Morisca | Best places to stay in Granada, Andalusia

"If you’re after poetic atmosphere, bags of character and enchanting views of the Alhambra, stay in this evocative hotel in a late 15th-century mansion in a peaceful corner of the Albayzin district, just up from the Darro river. The house is named after its builders and decorators, the Moriscos (Muslims who remained in Spain after the Reconquista) whose beautiful wood, plasterwork and arches were lovingly restored by one of Granada’s top architects: the patio courtyard is exquisite. The 14 rooms (the upper ones have the best views) have Moorish style furnishings, antiques, and comfy beds;  staff are wonderful and if you let them know in advance, they will save you a parking place by the hotel. There are some lovely tapas bars nearby, too, all perfect for couples who want to enjoy Granada’s unique romantic atmosphere to the hilt. " - Dana Facaros

Beautiful, quaint hotel very convenient to see the Alhambra. There is parking available out front if needed and you are a 20 minute walk from the Alhambra entrance and less than that to the shops and restaurants of the town. The rooms are pretty and have a fridge and coffee maker. There is 24 hour reception and the Hotel is very secure. A few things, however, were not as advertised - for example, the web site mentions the rooms are air conditioned - which they are, but it is more of an air cooling system and the unit in our room (room 14) never managed to cool down the room - making sleeping very very uncomfortable. As well, the website advertises a breakfast buffet - the assumption was it ws included in our rate - we were not made aware that there was a cost at any point of our stay until check out and were quite surprised. The gentleman at the desk said "it was in our contract" The email they send upon check in (we arrived a midnight) confirming details is 1. in Spanish and 2. does not mention an additional charge for breakfast. I did not argue further because we had already eaten there and our transfer was waiting for us. If you choose to eat there, note that the buffet is exceptionally basic - the food is fine, and it is suitable if you need an early breakfast before a morning visit to the Alhambra, but if you are not in a time-sensitive situation, I would recommend eating at a restaurant in town instead.

Exceptional clean hotel with Islamic history. The building is even more well maintained than some of the monuments nearby. It’s 15 mins walk up to the Alhambra, but note that it’s all the way uphills. You can also take the bus, but the bus takes more time.

A nice boutique hotel with their own limited parking spaces. Charming rooms but you can hear neighbors. Friendly and helpful staff, reception 24h. 15 min walk uphill to Alhambra entrance, close to restaurants, 15-20 to centre, flat walk, uphill walking through old town.|Did not try breakfast.

This boutique hotel in a Moorish style house in the Albacin neighborhood is filled with character! Our room had a wooden ceiling, antique rug, and traditional furniture. The bathroom was modern. There was one window overlooking the interior courtyard. Although just up a hill from numerous restaurants, the hotel is very quiet. Breakfast is offered at an extra charge, and we found it very good. Laundry service is also available.

This is an amazing hotel in an historic building full of character and beautiful tilework and an amazing coffered ceiling. Very unique and you can walk up the back way to the Alhambra! The night before, a car crashed into the building and burnt the 15th c door, the manager offered to let us cancel but we chose to stay and are so happy we did!

The area is just beautiful, did not leave anything to be desired. I booked a standard room without a view but it was very comfortable and cute. Thankyou to the kind concierge who called me a taxi when I checked out 😊 I found not being able to access the entrance without calling the buzzer to be let in a bit different but at least safety is all but guaranteed 🫡

Our stay could not have been better and we would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to our friends. It is in a very nice, quiet location with easy access to the main visitor destinations by means of short walks through pleasant surroundings. We chose to have breakfast in nearby cafe/patisseries to enjoy the local scene. The staff were friendly and helpful and we thought that it offered good value for money.

This was the favorite hotel of our 2-week trip to Spain. We loved the beautiful old house and furnishings. The location - just outside the busy center of the city, but a quick few blocks walking distance - was perfect. It was also nice to have parking right outside the door. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Would highly recommend for those wanting character and charm in a hote.

Yelp
This is a hotel with lots of character, located at the edge of the El Albayzín neighborhood. It's very conveniently located- from the hotel, it's a short walk (5 min) to most of the sights in "Modern" Granada and a ~20 min (uphill) walk to the Alhambra. The lobby, hallway, and rooms all retain the architecture of the house from which the hotel was converted. The service (both by the maid staff and the front desk staff) is excellent, and they speak English. Unfortunately, a couple issues prevent me from giving the hotel a higher review. First, a faint smell of sewage greeted me each time I opened the room door. Sure, it was faint, and sure, it seemed to go away after a few minutes (i.e. I got used to it), but a sewage smell is a sewage smell. Less importantly, the wifi didn't work well in the room (and was weak even in the lobby). This is an issue in many hotels we visited in Andalusia though, so I'd recommend purchasing a local 3G/4G sim card from Vodafone.

Yelp
Charming and cozy hotel with very friendly service. It has a very traditional feel but with all the amenities you expect in modern living. Victor, who was working the front desk when we arrived was very welcoming and attentive. He was out to help us with our bags as soon as we arrived at the door. It's in very close proximity to the Alhambra and is within walking distance to city center and Mirador de San Nicolás. There's an option for buffet breakfast in the mornings for a fee and wifi speeds are pretty good. Highly recommend if you're visiting Granada for a day or two days and want to be close to the Alhambra.

Yelp
Can't believe my wife and I are the first to review this wonderful hotel. It has won a preservation award for turning this very old house into a small, boutique hotel. One of the advantages is that it offers parking if you reserve in advance, but we would strongly advise you to rent and drive a very small car. The old town streets are challenging, and this hotel is very difficult to find. Even with the map provided by the hotel, you will find it difficult. We also had the CityMaps2Go app on the iPhone (definitely recommend this $3 app for European travel that works with GPS even without internet access), and this did the trick. Note: the hotel indicates that the surrounding streets have restricted access, suggesting that there is some kind of a police barrier, but this is not true. The hotel is right across the street and river from the Alhambra, though you have to walk up a steep hill to get there. As such, it is centrally located and convenient to all sites. The staff is very friendly and helpful. On our trip, we avoided the hotel breakfast, opting to grab coffee and a pastry at a café. The only breakfast we took was at this hotel to save time. It was a more than adequate buffet of pastries, cheese, fruit, and meat. And for anybody who reads this far in this review, we discovered that while your access time to the Nasrid Palaces is limited to 30 minutes, this only refers to the entry time. One inside, you can take as long as you want and proceed at your own pace. Ditto for the other 2 venues within the Alhambra where you must show your ticket. Finally, we think that although the Alhambra "closes" from 2-4 PM, this only refers to entry. If you are inside already, they don't kick you out. Buy your ticket online well in advance, and pick an early time.
