Hotel Boutique Convento Cadiz | Best places to stay in Cadiz

"Near the historic centre of Cadiz, a five-minute walk from the train station and beach, this atmospheric hotel in a handsome Dominican convent of 1635 is unusual in that part of it is still inhabited by friars (although you probably won’t run into them). The bedrooms in the former cells, however, are no longer monkish, but comfortably done up in chocolate and oatmeal tones, all facing the pretty tiled cloister with its sculpted marble wells; some also overlook the port. The staff are very friendly (if you’re driving, be sure to ask in advance about parking, which is tricky in Cadiz). They do a hearty buffet breakfast, and will tell you about the best restaurants and tapas bars are close by. It makes a great base for whatever you want to do in Cadiz, and for its fun-packed carnival. " - Dana Facaros

We really enjoyed our stay here in this beautiful, tranquil convent. After pounding the streets all day, it was so relaxing to walk through the gorgeous courtyard to our room. The room itself was very spacious. It was also super close to the train, bus, and ferry stations so we were able to take day trips easily. The hosts at the check-in desk were helpful and gave us good recommendations, even helping with the ferry schedule. I'd be happy to stay here again.

Perfect. Quiet and beautiful old Convent by the old town. Well designed rooms, friendly service, delightful courtyard. Can't believe it's not more expensive.

An excellent repurposed convent into a tranquil hotel in a good location in Cadiz, walking distance to Cadiz's cathedral. Quiet and a little spooky at times, I half expected to see my old grammar school nun popping out a corner, LOL! Rooms were large for European standards and clean. Breakfast was good. Make sure to visit the church next door.

We chose this as it was close to the station and I was quite intrigued by its description. First of all the staff are all friendly and welcoming and there is definitely a sense of peace and tranquility with mood musak chanting sublety in the background. Our room was clean and adequate for three nights but probably not more than that. Breakfast was superb in a small atmospheric room. Don't expect cocktail bars, plunge pools and wellness suites because it's not that sort of place. Restaurants and bars are very close for eating out and Cadiz is quite walkable. The town goes a bit crazy at carnival time so be aware.

Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast with huge variety of options. It does feel like being in an old convent! It is in an excellent location, room was fine, very clean and comfortable. ||It isn’t that easy to find on Google maps which is ridiculous as it is 2 mins from Station, the entrance is at the far side of the church on Calle San Domingo. Turn left out of station car park, across the road to a sculpture and the church is in front just head round the church building for the entrance,

Unique hotel in a former convent. The main areas are wonderful. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of all Cadiz sights. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are quiet however, dated and need a deep cleaning with a refresh. The bathrooms are small and also need refresh with caulking, tile grout and new towels.

Wonderful boutique hotel with friendly and helpful staff in a very extraordinary building, a former convent! The courtyard is very peaceful with music of chanting monks welcoming the guests to a very generous breakfast buffet! The rooms were generous in space and had everything we needed for a night of rest. Don't expect a 5* accommodation from this convent-turned-hotel! Location is fantastic and within walking minutes to the various sights and Old Town. It was an exceptional experience for us to stay in this hotel, and the Front Desk staff gave us a great recommendation of what town to visit among the Pueblos Blancos!

We stayed here for 5 nights after recommendation from a friend and were certainly not disappointed. Renovated from the cloisters of a church which is still in use, we felt a sense of calm as soon as we entered the courtyard from the bustling streets outside. Don’t be misled by the 1-star official rating - we assume that’s because it doesn’t have a restaurant (for lunch/dinner), pool, gym etc. - but the comfort, decor, service are all very high 4-star in our view. The bedrooms and public areas have retained the character of the convent, whilst also being well-equipped and air-conditioned. Location very convenient for the train/bus stations, city centre and beaches - definitely don’t need a car here. Breakfast was served in the corner of the cloisters, from what would have been a chapel - excellent variety of hot and cold items on the buffet - local and international. We’ll be back!
