Palacio Ico

"A restaurant with plenty of charm, a focus on select ingredients, and a chef at the helm who, despite his young age, has plenty of experience behind him. Palacio Ico occupies the hotel of the same name in a restored property that still showcases the beauty of the archipelago’s architecture. The contemporary Canary Island-inspired cuisine prides itself on the quality of its ingredients such as smoked salmon from Uga, gambas and Carabinero prawns from La Santa, octopus from Lanzarote, the famous black Canarian pig, and local cherne fish etc. Choose between two tasting menus (one short, one long) that evolve with the seasons and offer a wine pairing option. The well-stocked wine cellar is enhanced by an exclusive selection of champagnes." - Michelin Inspector

We stayed 3 nights in room 3 on the ground floor. We checked in on a Monday - perhaps not the best day to start our holiday as Teguise is so very quiet. Only 2 places to eat nearby but we had a lovely tapas meal in casa Leon. The hotel restaurant doesn’t open till Wednesday night but even then, it’s fine dining- 75 euro tasting menu plus 55 wine pairing each - so not for a casual meal. Maybe for a very special occasion? ||Nicholas was very friendly and helpful on arrival - but on returning to the hotel after dinner we struggled to get back in using our keys - we were let into the large old wooden exterior doors by a fellow guest. ||There is a calm gentle vibe here. The breakfast is brought to you - one type fits all - but the quality of the ingredients were superior and appreciated. We asked if there were eggs and he brought us each a fried egg - but unless we asked it would not have been offered it seemed. Still, all very very delicious. ||Breakfast doesn’t start till 830am - so we decided to delay our trip to the volcanic national park till we were staying at a place where we could get an earlier start. ||The room was clean and comfortable- but if you’re not staying with your intimate partner- room 3 wouldn’t suit, as the shower and washing area is open plan- there’s no privacy!||Also no drawers. One wardrobe which had us live out of our suitcases the 3 days we were there.

We spent one night at Palacio Ico, the room was spacious and beautiful, the staff was kind and breakfast delicious.

The architecture is nice indeed. Rooms are well decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast is beautifully prepared... but too light. The place is understaffed. Room price is abusive to my opinion. Overall, it's not a good value for money.

Words cannot describe how magical this place is, it is so much more than a hotel. This is a beautiful place that fuels your soul and makes you feel right at home at the same time. My husband (then-boyfriend) and I stumbled upon and stayed at this hidden gem 2 years ago when we visited Lanzarote for the first time. It is perfectly situated in the quiet town of Teguise that is full of charm and character. I still remember the first moment we stepped foot in this hotel, the environment instantly brought a sense of calmness and tranquility. The entire hotel from the courtyard to each little detail of the hotel room is thoughtfully designed and curated to enrich each guest's customer experience. Featuring a stellar (one of the best) restaurant on the island, led by chef Victor, who truly presents local food products in the best way. There was even one evening where we were disappointed by the dinner at another restaurant on the island, so we hurried back to Hotel Palacio Ico before the restaurant closed to have a proper meal! We are in shock that they don't have a michelin star yet! This hotel also has THE MOST INCREDIBLE breakfast spread ever! 2 years later, we invited our closest friends and family to fly from Asia and North America to host our intimate wedding at this magical place. All of our family and friends were so impressed by their experience and unanimously told us that it was their best trip ever - from the customer experience, to the ambiance, to the delicious food and wine. We could not believe it but this experience surpassed our previous experience. Our guests were also obsessed with the decor of each space, from the room to the common areas, it is a place filled with unique character! First off, the hotel owners Sonsoles and her husband, they made sure that all of our guests and us feel so welcomed and taken care of. The house keeping team were always on top of everything, making sure that the service was only performed when the guests were out of the room and completed before the guests returned to their rooms (yes, it may seem like a simple thing but the level of execution from this team was impeccable). The Sommelier Ivan is extremely knowledgeable and my husband and father had the best time bonding with him. Now that we are back in Canada, we actually are still purchasing the wines that he recommended during our stay. Although it has been 2 months since our wedding dinner, our guests are still talking about what a wonderful meal they had at our wedding, prepared by chef Victor and his team. It is rare for a restaurant to be able to consistently produce incredible meals, so we are thoroughly impressed that Chef Victor and his team are still creating the most amazing meals ever (2 years after our first meal)! And a very big thank you to Zeneida and Charly for making our stay so memorable! We are so honoured to be able to celebrate our special day here. This is the place that we always want to return to. It delivers an elevated and unforgettable experience for each and every guest without pretentiousness. The passion, warmth and thoughtfulness of the personal touch from the staff is what truly makes this place stands out.

There needs to be a “Good” rating, Average seems harsh so I have been generous.|The rooms are reached via a central courtyard, ours was on the upper floor. |Most importantly the bed was very comfortable, though the pillows were hard and lumpy. But as this is almost always the case I take my own pillow when I travel.|The ceiling was high giving a feeling of space and airiness.|There is a kettle and a mini nesspresso machine, this is partly why I chose this hotel. Though you only get one coffee pod per day per person, I did ask for more on the first day but ended up just buying some.||The little fridge in the room is useful (and quiet) but be aware that when you remove your room key from its slot in the room all the electrics switch off, including the fridge!|The large shower was great, with plentiful hot water. |The towels were on the small side and rather thin and threadbare.|Just a little more attention to detail would make a huge difference, maybe a box of tissues, a couple of hooks for bags and jackets, a second armchair…||Breakfast is very good, though we had to skip it on several mornings as they don’t serve breakfast until half eight and then it is fairly slow. A selection of items are brought to the table, a dish of prepared fruit, good toast, a plate of average cheese and meat, a little dish of excellent grated tomato with olive oil and a fab avocado mousse thing. Smoothie of the day was mostly successful. Also yogurt and granola. Eggs are offered too. |The impression is that they are understaffed, so the staff who are perfectly nice and friendly give the feeling of being rushed/harassed. |The courtyard is very pretty but somehow not a comfortable place to sit and relax.||The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, every other evening it is absolutely packed so booking ahead is advisable.|Good food with a standout dish of diced smoked salmon on a bed of avocado mousse with a ginger dressing and topped with a julienne of radish.|A steak and a dish of local fish were prettily presented.||The only other restaurant of note in Teguise was closed for the month of January.

We stayed at the Palacio Ico for 5 nights in early October of 2024. We felt fortunate to have found this beautifully designed and run hotel. As mentioned in other reviews, Teguise is perfectly placed for easy access to every part of Lanzarote with Teguise itself worth any time you can spend there. Sonsoles is a perfect host and we would like to give a special thank you to Nicholas, who arranged a replacement rental car for us when ours broke down. He went out if his way when he did not have to. ||We have been lucky enough to have traveled widely and have stayed in some great hotels and rentals. The Hotel Palacio Ico will always be near the top of our memory bank when we consider the places we have been in this world. ||If you have the opportunity to stay in Teguise at the Hotel Palacio Ico...jump...you will not regret it.

Stayed for one night, whilst on vacation exploring Lanzarote. This small boutique style hotel is located inland in the old capital of Lanzarote, Teguise. Good parking nearby, and if you stay on Sunday, you are right on the edge of the large local market. Check-in and out involved a short delay as the lady on reception was also serving in the restaurant, however she was friendly and offered good advice about local attractions. The ground floor room was excellent, very large (more like a suite really), with a clever mixture of traditional architecture with modern amenities. Very comfortable bed, excellent shower, good WIFI, and the efficient AC, coupled with the traditional construction kept the room nicely cool.||Breakfast was also very good with a range of good quality dishes brought to your table. The hotel had a beautiful central courtyard, recommended for taking an after-dinner drink. I’d call the hotel a hidden gem, but given they only had a single night’s availability during my trip in October it seems a very popular place!

This is for the restaurant. It was incredible, and above all, consistent. The entire menu was flawless from start to finish, which is very rare. Special mention goes to the octopus and the pork. We will definitely come back if we set foot on the island again. A perfect
