Hôtel Burdigala (Bordeaux, Nouvelle Aquitaine) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Burdigala is what the Roman Empire called Bordeaux, but the hotel that goes by that name is anything but ancient. Hôtel Burdigala by Inwood Hotels occupies a handsome, if traditional, building in the city center. But what’s inside is not just a contemporary hotel, but a particularly stylish and memorable one." - Tablet Hotels

Le Burdigala Hotel | Best places to stay in Bordeaux |

"Located just outside Bordeaux’s pedestrian-only historic centre, a 10-minute walk from central sights such as the Cathedral, this stylish boutique hotel has sophisticated design and great food.   Everything about it is soothing, from the soft colours in the rooms to the efficient and helpful staff. The restaurant features contemporary takes on southwestern French classics (duck, oysters, and even the eel-like lamprey, for the bold) accompanied by a superb wine menu.   Burdigala’s underground garage also makes it a favourite with road-trippers stopping off in the city. A convenient, stylish base for visiting Bordeaux, then touring the surrounding vineyards.  " - Dana Facaros

Excellent and comfortable hotel with outstanding service approach. We've stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and enjoyed every moment. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and cosy. The location of the hotel is good as it is quiet and not too far to the city centre. Staff is excellent - especially the friendliness and competence of the chief concierge Ottaviano (?) is first class. |The only element which needs to be reconsidered is the price list for the laundry service - € 15,- for a T-shirt cannot be meant serious....luckily there is a laundry service just across the street though this might not suitable for everyone.

Glad of the top of the range air condition at this hotel. It is one the cleanest and well kept hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The service at the bar was excellent. Our room was a bit small. We visited in a heatwave so we’d booked last minute after a cancelled camping trip and air conditioning was our top priority. It was faultless as can’t be said for a lot of places in France. We were a bit disappointed at the lack of some facilities. No fitness room, pool or spa. And the upstairs terrace and restaurant were closed for the entire month of August. Reception staff and concierge were very professional and helpful. The bar area is very nice to sit in but there was definitely a lack of character or atmosphere here. It was a five minute walk to the gate of the old town and 20 min walk to Miroir d'eau.

We loved this hotel! It is very modern, beautiful, and clean. The beds were very, very comfortable. My brother slept on the sofa bed and he said it was the most comfortable sofa bed he has ever slept on. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and beautiful. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is pretty busy, so get a reservation in advance if you would like to eat there. The bar and breakfast area was nice. The only inconvenience with this hotel is it is not as centrally located as we would prefer. In turn, the hotel is very quiet, which is nice for sleeping. We were still able to walk to the main parts of town relatively easily. We didn’t want to leave! We would highly recommend staying here if you don’t mind not being in the center of everything (but still relatively close by).

This hotel was the final stop on our two-week vacation, and we truly saved the best for last. Hotel Burdigala exceeded every expectation—everything about our stay was top-tier.||Our suite was spacious, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. The bedding and linens were luxurious, and the room was a peaceful haven after our travels. From check-in to check-out, the front desk staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful—offering maps, local tips, and even a fantastic last-minute dinner recommendation when one of our reservations unexpectedly fell through.||Thoughtful touches made our stay feel extra special: a welcome drink at the bar, lovely anniversary decorations in our room, and beautifully scented toiletries. The shower was outstanding, with both a rain head and a handheld wand that had perfect water pressure and temperature.||Breakfast was on another level—an impressive buffet with a wide array of choices, including breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, bacon, potatoes, yogurts, and cereals. We especially appreciated the option to order freshly made omelets, cappuccinos, and espressos.||The location was ideal. We arrived during a busy holiday weekend, and while the downtown was buzzing with bachelor and bachelorette parties, the hotel was just far enough away to avoid the noise and crowds—yet still within an easy walk of everything.||Our stay at Hotel Burdigala was the perfect ending to an unforgettable trip. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

This hotel deserves all the great reviews it gets. It was just superb in every way. The staff, especially the two who work at the concierge desk, are outstanding. The room was fantastic: clean, spacious, quiet. Just plain luxurious. I would love to go back to Bordeaux as much for the hotel as the city itself!

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel during a heat wave. I have no complaints about the hotel itself. Our corner room was spacious and well decorated and had a double sink in the bathroom. There were complimentary beverages in the refrigerator and the breakfast was good. The staff were also very nice and professional. There are 2 reasons why I gave this hotel 4 instead of 5 stars. First, was that the immediate area, although safe, was not attractive. And second, was that the walk to any of the sights and restaurants that we wanted to get to was about 20 minutes. This is not ideal for anyone with walking issues and was especially uncomfortable because the heat. For those of you who don’t mind the walk and don’t care about the view, this is really a nice hotel and you will be happy there.

Lovely hotel. Absolutely spotless. Brilliant facilities including a coffee machine, king sized comfy bed and waterfall shower head. The staff were also lovely - really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Bordeaux.

This is a beautifully decorated hotel , expensive but worth it. The rooms are very comfortable and the housekeeping throughout is impeccable.Every staff member was very helpful and respectful. Location is marginally off center but was not an issue. A very enjoyable stay.

Yelp
We are here for three nights on a tour and this is the fourth hotel/spa we will have stayed at during our journey with one more ending in Biarritz. The tour company booked all the hotels so we are relying on them to have done the research, etc. this place is excellent. Arrival was painless and we got to our room and our luggage was there. The front desk clerk was helpful and efficient there were five of us on this private tour. The room is very nice typical one room king bed overlooking a courtyard and restaurant with a roomy bathroom. One point is the closet is very tight to the bed.. All the appliances worked well and heat/ac was fine. The room is nicely decorated. We are dining in the hotel tonite and a couple of cocktails a vesper and tequila cosmo both were great. We had dinner in Madame B in the hotel. Stuffed chicken wings spinach and sorrel veloute. They were both good not great. For mains I got the fish of the day Bonito and my wife got the gnocchi. Both were excellent. Dessert was also nice we hardly ever eat dessert at home. Breakfast was fine the next morning and they had anything you might want. We enjoyed the place and the staff and service were outstanding. Mark & Nancy

Yelp
Initially I had written a positive review upon check in at Hotel Burdigala. Unfortunately the stay was horrible after that. They have a fire alarm system that goes off in the middle of the night. They are well aware of the issue, as you can read about on TripAdvisor, but now claim it is people smoking in their room which it clearly is not. The air conditioning was not working well. When I brought it up the first day of my 6 night stay they front desk said "you Americans like it colder than Europeans". I found that rude and odd since the lobby was very well air conditioned, as was my friends hotel room on the floor above me. So clearly it was possible to have a well air conditioned room, just not my room. I attempted several times to get them to fix it. On the 4th night the staff came to my room, turned the thermostat up and said it would help. It didn't. 6 nights of being uncomfortably hot, with fire alarms going off 3 out of the 6 nights at 2:00 a.m and 4:00 a.m. It was a miserable stay. When I checked out they offered a ridiculous $20 credit for 6 sleepless nights at their hotel that charged hundreds of Euro a night. While the hotel looks nice at first glance, it isn't. The breakfast staff in the morning milled around talking among themselves while the guests struggled trying to operate their coffee machines and get the staffs attention to take breakfast orders. There were plenty of staff who could have provided drinks as most hotels do or made a better effort to assist, but they were all just standing around each of the 5 mornings I was there. This hotel staff has no idea what customer service is and needs additional training. This is not a 4 star hotel, as other reviewers have mentioned. It was an expensive mistake that destroyed my trip. They should be ashamed of themselves.
