Hotel C2, a Design Boutique Hotel Marseille, France

"A private mansion built at the end of the 19th century, a time when Marseille was the “Gateway to the East”, the building reflected the wealth of its then-owners, rich merchants from Greece. Neglected during the latter part of the last century, the building today is being reborn with the Marseille of the 21st century. The marble, parquet floors, columns, bas-reliefs, frescoes and bronze banister are still there, set off by a subtle and modern simplicity. If you love life, interaction, diversity and artistic encounters, if having someone listen to you attentively and considerately seems a rare privilege to you, then you will feel at home at the C2 in the heart of the new Marseille. Far from conventional norms, in the stillness of a vertical garden, 20 quiet and light-filled rooms, a singular spa, divine bar and stunning beach await you." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

A very nice hotel, just not exactly 5 star. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean and well kept; the common areas are lovely! The staff are extremely nice and accommodating. They were even kind enough to let me in my room before noon since it was ready. Yes, it is walking distance to the main port it is a good 15-20 minute walk so don’t wear heels to dinner. I do recommend this hotel as it definitely makes for a pleasant stay. |Why not a 5 star? It is the little things that you should expect. There is no one to help you with your luggage either upon arrival or when leaving. There was a nice breakfast layout but hot food such as quiche and bacon were cold, and no one explained you could order eggs from the kitchen, additionally when I ordered room service the small toast that came with it were burnt on one side - they just turned the slices over so you did not notice until you ate one. The mini bar was empty except for a bottle of water and juice which is simply filled by the hotel (you could tell because it was not sealed and the wording on bottle was warn off). Please put sealed water or tell occupant where water came from. Again, these are just small things that should not scare you off depending on how much you are paying for the room.

As you get dropped off at the hotel, do not be deceived by the back entrance--it literally looks like a garage. Once you check in, you realize you are in a historic mansion converted into a modern hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much, even though we couldn't check in early. The gentleman at the front desk was very congenial; the woman, not so much. We were upgraded as a result of not having access to our room on time. The rooms were beautiful. Comes with everything you need. The breakfast area looked nice; the restaurant staff were very accommodating. Within walking distance of a grocery store, brasseries, shops and a pharmacy. There is only valet parking for 30 euros per night. Not located close to the major sites in Marseille, you need to take public transportation or drive. You can walk to the main cathedral, but it is one heck of a workout but doable as we did it. If we were ever to return, we would rebook this hotel.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel C2 during our honeymoon in Marseille. We arrived very early for check-in and while our room wasn’t ready, the staff kindly held our bags and gave us excellent sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. They did have staff that spoke English so that was very helpful for us. The breakfast was a standout—quiche, fresh breads, yogurt with honeycomb, mimosa eggs, smoked salmon, meats, cheeses, and more. I hadn’t booked it initially, thinking we’d explore in the mornings, but after trying it, we went back the next day. Definitely worth it! Our room was large, modern, and very comfortable—much more spacious than any other on our trip—and the shower was excellent. The hotel even left us a sweet note and treats to celebrate our honeymoon, which was such a lovely touch. The location is central and walkable to shops, restaurants, and attractions. We also enjoyed the relaxing spa area with a heated pool (though the sauna was out of order during our visit), and had a great drink at the cozy bar one evening. Only small cons: no gym (though we walked and hiked plenty) and no water refill station like some other French hotels. But overall, a fantastic experience. Would definitely stay again!

Fabulous location, lovely spacious rooms, very friendly staff and breakfast was wonderful each morning, |We found the location of the hotel to be the most important to us. We could walk to pretty much everywhere we wanted to visit with the benefit of not being right in the centre of the noise and hustle and bustle. |Staff were all very friendly and helpful before and during our stay. |Would highly recommend if visiting Marseille.

Didn’t stay here, called in for drinks in the hotels’ little bar ‘Tchin’. |The bar man was absolutely fantastic, knocking together some truly delicious cocktails. Very welcoming and friendly too. Tchin is at ground floor level, overlooking the patio. Decor is gorgeous, the C2 hotel renowned for its elegant, upscale, boutique design. It’s a great place for a tranquil drink, and the complimentary nibbles are another big plus.

Really enjoyed my 6-day stay at the C2 Hotel! The staff were amazing and so helpful. The location is great - A bit away from everything so you get the quiet, but still walkable to most points of interest. I also give the breakfast buffet two thumbs up.

C2 hotel is in a nice location. Short walk to the harbor and many restaurants near by.||||Hotel bed is comfortable. AC and WiFi are working fine. Most of the hotel staff are very nice.||||However, on lady staff in the reception on the morning of 7/11/2025 9am is very mean. When we stop by to ask direction for the boat tour to the islands, she gives attitude saying that you just book it on the website. When we explained that we don’t. Know how to book it on the website that’s why we came down to to ask for help, she shows attitude indicating that we are so dump. Then she shows a website with no reservations and tell us that we can not go there.||||Then we asked how to go to chateau if, then she says you can buy tickets at the harbor, but refuse to answer more questions.||||Then the male came with a map and show us how to buy two islands ticket and write down both island name on the map is and answered our questions nicely.||||The lady worker should not work in the hospitality industry if she just dislike tourist and give attitude. This experience completely ruined our experience for the day and the experiences in marseille and the c2 hotel. We will never stay in this hotel again and not sure if we will ever come back to marseille again since the people are so mean to the tourists.

I had a great stay at this hotel! It's very clean, the staff is friendly and amazing, and the pool is fantastic. Despite being in a big city, it was surprisingly quiet and relaxing. One small note: I arranged a taxi to the airport through the hotel for an early morning ride and was charged 90 euros—much higher than Uber or Bolt, which typically cost around 40 euros. To be fair, I should have double-checked the price with the staff or driver beforehand. Overall, a wonderful experience and I’d happily stay again!
