Absolutely loved our stay here – it was everything we were hoping for and more. The setting is so lovely and serene, surrounded by vineyards and with such a calm, peaceful vibe. It felt like a proper escape. The suite itself was beautifully designed and incredibly comfortable. The bed was great – supportive but soft, and we both slept so well. But the standout for me was definitely the bath. Soaking in a deep tub with floor-to-ceiling views of the vines was pure bliss. Honestly one of the most relaxing stays we’ve ever had. Everything felt really thoughtful – from the layout of the room to the quality of the amenities. We also appreciated how private and quiet it was. A perfect spot for a romantic getaway or just to unwind and recharge. Would 100% recommend and can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely stunning hotel... We arrived very late tonight and the after-hours instructions were clear and easy to follow. I am writing this review as I'm still in the hotel amazed by the attention to detail this accommodation offers (in-room sparkling water!). I am blown away by the size of the room. The bathroom is huge and well presented. Our suite is impeccably clean and cosy. Ensure you book directly with the hotel so you don't miss out on their continental breakfast. Well done!

We stayed at Hotel California Road @ Inkwell Wines over the Easter weekend for 2 nights in room 1. Overall the room was stunning with an unrivalled view over the vines. Uncovered parking was available at the front of the cellar door with each room allocated a spot right at the front.||The 3 rooms are built from shipping containers and located underneath the cellar door. Rooms are accessed by a staircase off the cellar door with keycard access for hotel guests only. Our room was well appointed with comfortable king sized bed, table and chairs, couch, desk and bath in the main room. There was also cupboards with an iron, bar fridge, kettle, coffee machine with pods, tea and snacks provided. Breakfast provisions included 3 types of cereal individually portioned, bread for toast, yoghurt, milk, juice and a fruit plate. These were replenished each day when the rooms were being made up. ||The bathroom was spacious with double sink and double shower, however the water pressure wasn’t fantastic especially if other rooms were using the water at the same time. The bath was located in the main bedroom overlooking the vines which was lovely to take a soak in after a long day of wine tasting, although it would have been a nice touch if bath robes/ slippers were provided to move between the bathroom and bath. ||Each suite had a private deck which was a lovely place to have your breakfast, but it was quite windy during our stay so we sadly couldn’t use it as much as we’d have liked to. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet, perfect to relax and recharge.||We had a fantastic stay at the hotel however it is an expensive option particularly if you are not planning to spend long periods in the room. If you are looking for somewhere to sit back, relax, read a book and sip wine on a private deck with stunning views then this is the place for you!

This is such a beautiful place to stay. The check in was easy, and the team were very kind and welcoming. The room was so nice, lovely bathrooms, comfortable bed and incredible view. I will definitely stay here again if I’m in the area again!

Lovely place and location, found there to be a lot of rules and obligations considering the price to stay in a shipping container. But it was well fitted out with luxurious furniture and fittings and my fiance loved it. Take a photo of the bar fridge and wine rack before and after or they will try to charge you for wine you never had and I don't drink wine! which I found quite insulting. However they rectified the bill swiftly.........

Hotel California Road is an absolute gem. We had to significantly change our itinerary due to the bush fires in the Grampians so we headed down to Mclaren Vale and were lucky to find this gorgeous accommodation It was perfect for a very chill few days. It is intriguingly built from shipping containers, is beautifully and luxuriously fitted out and sustainably run. We stayed in room 3 and enjoyed the peaceful view from our large terrace, a great spot for watching the sunset and for breakfast watching the kangaroos and birds. Quite a few of the restaurants in the areas did not open for dinner until Wednesday or Thursday but Irina gave us some wonderful recommendations for the other evenings. Of course it would be remiss of me not to mention that these guys also make some delicious wines! Thanks for a fabulous stay.

We had a perfect stay at Inkwell Wines' glorious little Hotel California. The rooms are perfectly apportioned with beautiful views over the vines, every room with its own private deck. The breakfast included was high quality. It was so quiet and relaxing we were unaware there were even other guests there. And the fact it is off grid and the whole winery regenerative made us feel extra good about our stay.

What to say, from vision to perfect execution. Intimate (3 suites only, for couples), luxurious (nothing less than a 5 star hotel) and completely eco-friendly, sustainable. Rooms are crafted to details, extremely spacius (including massive twin rain shower and a bath tub overlooking the vines), privacy, tranquillity and views to die for (nestled on a beautifull hill, surrounded by vines). Not to mention the external oversized relaxation/meditation deck. Yes, you have some rules (such us no cooking, don't leave the aircon on, don't leave the sliding door open, no rose petals etc.). This is nothing, it is just the bare minimum to respect a place that gives you the privilege to enjoy a slice of paradise on earth, in complete luxury, safeguarding the environment. Special mention to the beautifull onsite tasting room, where you can relax enjoying the incredible wine produced by Inkwell (personal favourites are the Primitivo, the Grillo, a unique Reisling, and their fortified). To Dudley and Irina, we have really enjoyed our stay, exceeded our expectation, congratulations for one of the best executed family project we have ever seen so far.
