"On the edges of Oaxaca’s most northern barrios at the foot of the Sierra Norte mountains, you'll find Hotel Casa Santo Origen. The walled compound of this eight-room boutique hotel opens up to alfresco common spaces with an L-shaped infinity pool; you'll also find patios cloistered among fragrant plumeria trees throughout the property. Guest suites are spacious and each has either a balcony or garden views—with several including their own private plunge pool. Entre Sombras is the hotel's on-site restaurant, which forgoes Oaxacan fare in favor of Mediterranean dishes. It features uninterrupted views of the nearby Sierra Norte mountains."

This place is absolutely perfect—truly magical. The staff is incredibly attentive, making you feel supported in every possible way, and they genuinely deliver on that. I planned a surprise proposal here, and it could not have gone more smoothly. This was largely thanks to the amazing team at the hotel, as well as the stunning location itself.||I read reviews beforehand, many of which highlighted the hotel’s unparalleled attention to detail. As someone who frequently stays at five-star hotels around the world, I can confidently say this place truly stands out. Here, details matter, kindness matters, and ensuring you have the best experience possible matters.||The rooms are a perfect escape—ideal for a getaway. While it’s true that it’s about a 15- to 20-minute drive (depending on traffic) to the city center, it’s absolutely worth it. We’ll definitely be returning to this incredible place many times in the future. I can’t thank the team, the location, and the surrounding nature enough for creating such an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful stone building, extraordinary staff, an oasis perched above Oaxaca city. This hotel has been on my saved list for years and it did not disappoint. ||We stayed in La Canada room (roughly translated to canyon in Spanish). I had specially selected this room due to the private hot tub on the terrace. We did have to ask them to top it up to cover the jets (felt like that should’ve been done at this price point) but they quickly attended to it. This room is on the top floor over looking part of the city. It was exactly what I wanted for a special get away for my husband’s birthday. One morning we ordered breakfast to the room and loved that, beautiful views and a lovely in room breakfast. ||The onsite restaurant was fabulous, we even cancelled reservations at a fancy place in town for his birthday because we preferred the food and atmosphere of this gem. Their sourdough is incredibly delicious, we even pre ordered a loaf to take with us as we continued our journey; so sweet of them to accommodate. Their hot sauces are legendary - be very careful of the hotttst one :) ||Every staff member was incredible and kind and lovely. We had no issues communicating with them despite our limited Spanish.||The ingenuity in the rooms was fabulous, from storage to room separation.||The pool is small but deep and lovely for a cool off on a hot day, in fact one day we decided to just do that all day and we loved it, very comfortable and the lovely restaurant staff checked on us to see off we needed anything. ||The price is high. I can’t explain or justify quite why it’s so high but I can say we created beautiful memories here and really enjoyed our stay - sick a lovely place to come back after exploring - and we would stay there again . We loved the limited number of guests. They explain their rooms well, so choose carefully and select what is important to you.

Tranquility, excellent food and a beautiful place to unwind are the hallmarks of this hotel. Without exception, the hotel staff was attentive and welcoming, and we felt like personal guests for our entire stay. I recommend booking the hotel cars for airport trips and sight-seeing trips. The local taxis are a bit of a wild ride and the hotel transport felt safer and certainly more comfortable.||Tips for first timers to Oaxaca: pace yourself on sight-seeing, the trips can be long and the roads a bit bumpy. On visits to textile houses and mezcal making, the expectation is that you buy at the end of the tour; the preferred payment is in pesos. The locals are very proud of their heritage, and it is well worth hiring a tour guide at the historic sights as they are a wealth of information. We learned so much!

This place by far is the best place to stay in Oaxaca if you are looking for luxury, services, ambiance and very good food specially breakfast.|It’s located 15-20 min away from city center (down town) in a great charming neighborhood which allows you to be away from the busyness but yet short taxi drive. The stuff are super friendly and professional and everyone one was super hospitable. The rooms are very clean and unique but also charming, I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for something a bit luxurious without breaking the bank as in my opinion it’s priced just right for what and where it is.

This is surely the best address in Oaxaca for charming hotels.|Set back a little from the city centre, it is an oasis of tranquillity.|The house is superbly decorated in exquisite taste, with beautiful pieces of local handicraft and works by the artist Manuel Miguel.|The food is delicious and tasty, and the service is excellent.|The staff are helpful and charming. |A big well done to Manuel who is an exceptional concierge and a great professional who will be able to guide you in your search for tours or visits.|You feel very much at home at Casa Santo Origen and have an excellent stay.

My wife and I had an absolutely outstanding stay at the Origen. ||Our room (Papalauban?) walked right out to the pool area. The pool is quite small but conducive to socializing with other guests. Great way to have the afternoon creep into the evening. ||The restaurant there is fantastic. Great breakfasts and dinners. I had paella one night and it was as good as one will get in Spain. And we went to their sister restaurant just around the block - Entre Lenos - our final morning there and it was really great, as well.||But where the Casa stood out most of all was the service. The front desk could not have been more accommodating. And shout to servers Jorge and Isiais - they were magnificent hosts.||This was our only time in Oaxaca, but I cannot think of anywhere else I would stay for a visit. Yes, it's a ride into town, but the peacefulness and beauty and service are perfect.

This is an Aamazing small property with fantastic staff and fabulous restaurant. Yes, it's about 15 minutes from downtown Oaxaca, but it is so worth it. All of the staff were super accommodating to our every need. The rooms were cozy and luxurious. The restaurant had amazing food. I can't say enough about this place. They hooked us up with the best tour guide/driver we could have asked for. Look no further, if you are staying in Oaxaca, this is the place for you!

It's quite a great hotel if you want to relax and disconnect for a while. Great views of the valley and a very friendly service, the staff is always helpful. The rooms are quite nice everything according to the local crafts and decorations are quite good. The pool is a nice touch and good for relax after a long day. Just to consider that you are about 15-20 minutes drive from the city center and there is not much around the hotel other than houses. But you can definitely stay and get what you need without going out.
