Hotel Catalonia Ronda | Best places to stay in Ronda

"Located on Ronda’s high street, this chic hotel is a two-minute walk from the spectacular gorge-spanning Puente Nuevo.   The x-factor here is the irresistible infinity pool and rooftop bar, offering breathtaking views into the historic 18th–century ‘cathedral of bull fighting’ and across to the Sierra de Grazalema mountains, at their most beautiful when backlit by frisson-giving sunsets.  Rooms, in metallic bronze, gold and silver tones, are comfortable and filled with light; some suites have balconies, and there’s parking nearby, making it a great stopover for anyone touring the White Villages.   " - Dana Facaros

Perfect location opposite de Plaza de Torres. The hotel used to be a bank and was changed in to a hotel in 2018. The view from the bar and the restaurant at the 4th floor is beautiful, mountains wherever you look. The hotel is centrally located in the town. Short walk to the gorge and the old town. The hotel is beautiful and we had a very nice suite. Also the breakfast was absolutely wonderful! The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Such a great experience!! The room was beautiful, opulent, comfortable, and spacious. Every staff member we spoke to was helpful and polite. We also used the spa and got massage treatments! We lucked out and were able to have the spa area all to ourselves, so it was absolutely lovely! Lucia and Luna gave us our treatments and were FANTASTIC! Pressure was perfect and I was to relaxed. Can't wait to come back!! 1 minor complaint, our room faced the street, (great view!) But that meant we had street noise the whole time. The balcony door muffled a lot but not all. The breakfast was great, the view of the bull ring was awesome, and the room was beautiful 😍

The furniture is neat and new. The modern furniture is perfect. 🤩 The receptionists are so polite and talented.

This hotel was not great. I’ll start with the worst of it: I work remote in the US and specifically requested an area to take calls. The front desk assured me I could work “peacefully” from the rooftop bar area as it would be closed at 11. What they didn’t tell me is that the bartenders would be too busy having a party, banging things around, hooting and hollering, all within eyeshot of me trying to take a conference call. I asked them several times to be quiet and was promptly ignored. I had to run away and work from the spa desk, until a night manager came in and started yelling at me for being there and saying I had to leave immediately. While I was in the middle of a call.||This kind of service is beyond deplorable and absolutely not acceptable. How dare you make your paying guests feel unwelcome! As if the constant badgering to sign up for their loyalty program weren’t enough so they can spam your inbox, I would never be loyal to this brand after the treatment received.||Other items worth noting here, the air conditioning does not work, it doesnt matter how many times you reset the thermostat or call down to the front desk and ask them to fix it, no one will come and it will not blow any air, so prepare to be warm. The beds were also uncomfortable. Lastly I found the room service menu to be lacking any healthy or vegetable options, their only vegetarian option, a vegetable curry, was “finished.” ||The last day the wifi stopped working, no attempt to fix it by the staff, just told to “deal with it.” ||I would much rather advise you to visit Ronda as a day trip, spend a few minutes admiring the gorge and the bridge, and move on. It’s not worth a stay, and definitely not at this hotel.

We are an American couple who came to the hotel via a tour group, and we were extremely pleasantly surprised!||First of all, the location is absolutely impeccable as it is literally across from the bull ring and the rooftop has the best views in the entire city of the ring. ||The rooms were also extremely spacious and comfortable. We even had a room with a couch and table and desk. There are four floors and an elevator, but elevators were very slow so get on a lower floor so you can just climb the stairs. There are no views of the bull ring the rooms.||The rooms are fully equipped with iron, toiletries, and blow dryer. However, as in all European countries there is no washcloths. The shower had nice pressure and was walk in in , so very senior friendly. ||We were also very close to the city center, and absolutely everything was walkable, including the bridge, which was literally five minutes away.||Our daily free breakfast was also amazing and they actually make omelettes here. ||Overall, a fantastic hotel and a must do if you are staying in Ronda

The staff was super nice, upgrading our room to a larger suite overlooking the bull ring. We had some laundry done in a hurry since we got to town late and we're only staying one night. They rushed it through for us and refused to let us pay for it. The hotel is perfectly located on the main road right at the intersection of the main shopping street. It has old world charm and modern convenience. The restaurant was very good, but breakfast was a bit of a mad house. We skipped it and got a delicious croissant down the street for a few euros. It was a great experience.

We loved our stay at the Catalonia and even signed up with the chain to start using them when we're back in Spain. ||When we arrived, we parked our rental car in the spot across the street that they have designated for people to stop to download their luggage. Antonio, a young man with an amazing and friendly personality, came to tell us that he would be happy to take our suitcases. ||We then talked about parking and he said he could park our car in the garage down the street and bring it to us when we need it. Great! We told him we don't like the underground parking in Spain and he was funny enough to tell us "don't worry, I know where every column is located" He took good care of the car and was always around to answer questions. Not only for us, everyone that was in the lobby got to know Antonio because he would immediately ask people if they needed help.||Our room was very clean and very comfortable, be careful with the bathtub. It was very slippery and both of us at one time slipped, but not enough to fall. Once the soap hits the floor, it's a disaster waiting to happen. Hopefully management can do something about this.||Breakfast was very good. Everyday we went up to the 4th floor and the choices were plentiful and exactly what we wanted to see in a breakfast in Spain. They had a different tortilla every day, it would have been best if they have a heat lamp for it, but hot or cold, I love them. ||The staff was very friendly and attentive to every guest. But, there was one lady that was in charge of making omelettes, fried eggs, etc. She was amazing. My husband asked for one and watching her make one, he made a comment to her that if she was making an omelette or creating a work of art. She smiled and was very pleased for the compliment. ||We went up to the roof top bar and enjoyed some drinks overlooking what used to be the bull ring. We did not have dinner at the hotel because it started very late and we prefer to eat earlier. ||We will definitely return. This was our second time in Ronda and loved it just as much. Now that we're members, we will consider staying at other Catalonia hotels in Spain.||Most of all, we look forward to one day seeing Antonio in management. He is definitely an asset to this or any place where he works and his smile makes guests feel welcomed. We approached one of the managers and let him know. ||Gracias Antonio por tu ayuda y tu bella sonrisa todos los dias!!

We stayed two nights. this is a 4 star hotel and has all the look and feel and comforts you would expect while still in a historic building (spa, pool, wonderful large buffet breakfast on rooftop restaurant with made to order eggs, on the spot fresh squeezed orange juice machine (yum!!), water with lemons and oranges in lobby; minibar; big rooms and baths with tubs and showers. It had a really nice roof top terrace and bar that was popular at sunset and the restaurant for breakfast was also on the top level with great views – including the bullring next door – literally you could watch a match-up if so inclined. We didn’t even go in the ring as we are not fans of the sport. Ronda is divided into old town and new town (1750s!) when they built a bridge over the gorge and expanded. We stayed in new town one minute walk to the bridge which is just probably 7 car lengths so not a long bridge. I had joined their rewards program and they double upgraded us to a huge Junior Suite; on the corner of the main street and the paseo street. We were on day 8 of two weeks and ready for a lux hotel and this delivered. The room and bathroom was huge. No fancy bidet and the toilet room had a step up which was scary at night but everything else made up for that. Parking was down the street with a pre-arranged flat fee with the hotel. You don’t need to drive in Ronda. We only had car for a couple days because we wanted to explore other hill towns in the area on our way from Granada and on way to Seville. Would definitely stay here again.
