Unforgettable Honeymoon Stay - Our Only Regret Was Not Staying Longer!
Having never been to the Dolomites before, we decided to kick off our honeymoon with 4 nights at Chalet Gerard this July - and it was incredible. Honestly, our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.
Location & Views
The hotel is perched halfway up a hill with truly breath-taking panoramic views. We often saw people pulling over just to take photos - it really is that stunning. Whether you’re sitting on the terrace, relaxing in the hot tub, or just gazing out from your room, the scenery is unbeatable.
Room
Our room was spacious and spotless, with a massive, comfy bed, a large wardrobe, and a powerful shower. The private balcony had seating and an amazing view - and even from inside, the huge sliding doors meant we could soak it all in. The only slight downside was that it was a little warm at night in the room, but overall the room was perfect.
Food
The food completely exceeded expectations, and honestly was probably one of the biggest highlights of our stay, and maybe even the honeymoon! The five-course half board dinner was on another level - absolutely deserving of the Michelin Guide recognition. Every night was a treat. Breakfast was also excellent, with fresh bread, lots of pastries, and real freshly squeezed orange juice - no cheap concentrate juice here!
Spa
The spa was a dream. After a long day hiking or biking, there was nothing better than relaxing in the steam room and the outdoor hot tub with a view. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the photos, but the spa turned out even better than imagined - peaceful, private, and so well done.
Staff & Service
The staff were friendly and professional throughout, and the two managers in particular really stood out. They were always happy to help, offering great advice on how to make the most of our time in the area, what activities to do, where to go etc. One even arranged a lift back to the hotel from the bus station when we missed the last bus back - a gesture we really appreciated.
A Few Extras
- Lots of free parking onsite
- Great base for hiking and biking. One really nice hike from the door of the hotel.
- Slight road noise from passing traffic - not a big issue, but worth noting
- There happened to be roadworks in front of the hotel during our stay which made the traffic noise a little more noticeable. I assume that's temporary and probably gone by the time you read this review.
Would We Return?
In a heartbeat. Chalet Gerard made our honeymoon unforgettable - it’s beautiful, warm, welcoming, and effortlessly romantic. We’re already talking about coming back!
