Hotel Ciutat de Girona

Just returned from a ten days cycling holiday at this hotel. Just cannot speak highly enough of the hotel and the staff. The hotel is geared up for cyclists with safe storage in the basement. It is centrally situated in Girona, the staff were very helpful, the accommodation absolutely fine and the food ,when I ate at the hotel, extremely good value. Would certainly stay here again if I returned to Girona.

Just outside looks like a 4 stars hotel! Rooms are dated, city view room (306) is just across an old, dirty building. Because of the restaurant from main floor, many times in the elevator smells bad. No slippers, in 3 nights just one cleaning, very few English tv programs, no coffee machine, the "air conditioning" with only one temperature, without ventilation in the bathroom,in the shower, temperature control lever is far away, room is very noisy from upstairs...

Our room was not ready until 30 minutes after check-in time. The room had a smell akin to a dirty animal, but thankfully this dissipated--we suspect that the hotel seriously needs to change the filters on their vacuum cleaners. At prime check-in time there was a staff member cleaning the ground floor stairway landing while 10+ people were waiting in the lobby, the staff member completely ignoring guests to do their work. Please consider cleaning a common area like this when guest traffic is not at peak. The room was not well-lit. We could tell the water reservoir of the coffee machine in the room had been cleaned with vinegar...because there was vinegar pooled in the bottom of it! The breakfast is priced too high for what it was, especially considering you needed to request coffee from a staff member--please, get a coffee machine that guests can self serve from. Most areas of the restaurant were cordoned off when breakfast opened, leaving a space of 8-10 tables that filled up very quickly. Top it off with the experience that staff were generally not acknowledging of guests and unfriendly, and I would never consider staying at this hotel again.

Great location. Large room that was clean and everything you needed. Breakfast was substantial.... however the staff were not friendly to the extent where we did not feel welcome. Would not return.

Excellent, will stay again on my next visit. Clean rooms, excellent breakfast, good bike room for cyclists. Perfect location. Stayed for 4 nights no issues.

The location of Hotel Ciutat de Girona was perfect. The street was quiet but within easy walking distance to the train (15 mins) and all the touristic sights, shops, and great restaurants. The staff were all very friendly and the hotel was well maintained. Within the room, the beds were comfortable and it had everything we needed. I’d recommend doing a walk through when you first check in as there were a few things that we would’ve asked to change (a towel with a stain, a bed cover with candy stuck to it) but we didn’t notice until late. Regardless of the small inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly come again. Thank you!

Great stay, terrific location, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet was very good. Would stay here again. Highly recommend this hotel.

Extremely well located hotel and was ideal for our overnight stop. Bedroom was very good, well supplied with additions in bathroom and breakfast was good. Staff very friendly but only issue was parking. I decided to park on a street 5 minutes walk rather than chance a tight underground car park with a large hire car. All worked perfectly. We had a lovely meal in the square a 3 minute walk away and a walk round the old town next morning before we went on our way. Lovely to see Girona.

A great place to stay when exploring this amazing city. The hotel is located in a prime location and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They cater to the cyclist community as they have the nicest bike storage and repair area in the hotel basement with a full SPIN studio. All in all a very nice place when traveling to Girona.

I can easily forgive that the hotel needs a fair bit of cosmetic maintenance (see pictures of a few items) but the fact it felt physically unsafe wasn't acceptable. The hotel uses a motion detector system to turn on hallway lights. Unfortunately, it's not configured well. The dark picture below is my first two steps into the hallway (from either direction). The picture of the staircase was lightened automatically by my iPhone. And while it's likely the city rather than the hotel that created the problem, there is a curb that is invisible to those of us with depth perception struggled (see grey stone picture). The two parts are a step of three inches. Tape (yellow or reflective) would really help. The breakfast was "meh", they use only half the room (making it feel crowded), and the towels they insist on leaving take up the entire area by the sink. The person who was the Front Desk manager said that they were aware. (I'd asked to speak to the hotel manager but he refused to check.) I'd said I felt the problems deserved a one-star review. He told me I was wrong! No sense he cared at all (perhaps because I asked to speak in English and subtlety is English is tough.) He did have a safety light turned on in my hallway (which did help though it buzzed all the time). So three stars but I doubt I'd return.

Lovely Girona! Great city and why not stay in the heart of it. We had great customer service, the lady in the front desk was very friendly. Our room was nice, clean, modern and a bit smaller than what we are used to, but it fits the needs. We had no issues through out our stay. Very easy access to restaurant and city, walking distance to main attractions. We got great rates at Expedia.com, otherwise you might want to call them to make reservations.

Definitely one of the better hotel experiences I've had in Spain! The lobby is beautifully decorated and the staff here are very pleasant. We had one of the larger corner rooms and it was very spacious and clean. Extremely well located and it was also very easy to walk here from the train station, even with our luggage.
