"Composed of three restored 150-year-old buildings a short walk from the Tenmangū shrine, this 13-room, tile-roofed hotel preserves the former Yoshitsugu family residence with its paintings and scrolls. Rooms are screened by linen noren and may include private gardens, stone lanterns, and vaulted ceilings; an on-site French fusion restaurant serves dishes such as sautéed red gurnard, Mitsuse chicken confit, and Hakata wagyu beef." - Yukari Sakamoto, Adam H. It was really great staying here. 5mins walk to Tenmangu. Think lots of people do day trips but I’d recommend staying at least one night. Go out for a walk after 5pm. And enjoy much less crowded places. Hotel itself is very nice. Traditionally decorated. Very friendly staff. The food is amazing.

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed. It was a bit of a splurge, and worth it. Lovely check-in in English, beautiful garden path to room. Secluded, simple, organic and luxurious, if you can imagine that. The luxury was in the privacy and accoutrements. A wooden bath, tatami mats, chairs with lap blankets, to name a few. They offer several beverages in the mini fridge that are complementary, and the breakfast was tasty and interesting. The location was steps from the temples and shopping. Find Dai store for vintage kimono remnants, so pretty. Their sushi restaurant rec was so good! The set is multi-course: be hungry.

Love this place. Stayed in #103 at the main building which is right in front of the temple and in the evening and early mornings the entire neighborhood is super quiet free of the daytime tourists! The amenities in the room and the details in our room were well thought out. The pajamas are super comfy as well. Ten stars for the hotel and staff! Would come back to stay in a heart beat….

This is the coolest hotel concept I have ever seen. They repurpose these wonderful buildings with history and create a beautiful experience. This was hands down my favorite hotel stay during my two weeks in Japan. I'm also a history nerd, so I really enjoyed the traditional style mixed with modern touches. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. They were very kind and made this trip an amazing one. I can't wait to come back in the future. ||Dazaifu is a beautiful area, and the hotel is located next to a beautiful shrine. The staff also gave us a map of the area that included shops with local specialties. The food here is delicious. We ate our dinners in the hotel's restaurant, and I was in awe of how delicious everything was. We even experienced the traditional Japanese style breakfast. ||It's also very easy to get to and from Fukuoka City with local trains as well as buses. ||And honestly I could keep going on and on here, even though I was only here for two nights, but really I think it's worth the experience.

Beautifully renovated hotel that kept its traditional Japanese aesthetic. The main building where you check in and the actual stay is just a short walk away. I came by car, the parking lot was close to the stay as well. The whole experience was very relaxing from the moment you walk in to the stay. You’re greeted with long hallway to the bedroom and living room. A nice tea room with two seats and a table in front of the inner garden. I enjoyed the Hinoki bath tub and complimentary mini bar. The only negative thing I have to say was that for my room, the toilet was next to the entrance, which was a bit far from the bedroom. But it didn’t bother me too much. The breakfast at the main building was very delicious with seasonal ingredients. The location of the hotel in right next to Dazaifu. The check out time at 12 allow you to take time after breakfast to enjoy the surrounding area. The service was impeccable.

Great location and excellent hotel to stay. Room is modern with traditional Japanese interior design. Due to the heavy rain, it’s a headache to walk from the building we stay to the main building for breakfast. However, the staff provided towels to dry our outfit and hot tea to warm up. Overall a welcoming and enjoyable stay.

A meticulously designed hotel. We had a very enjoyable and tranquil stay (Room 103). The moment we stepped into the room we were greeted by the calming scent of the wood, followed by an impressive French style dinner in the main hall. Breakfast was served in a room with view of the garden. Staff was very nice and attentive.

We had a very pleasent stay. Staff is very helpful and polite. Main building has a beautiful garden. We took half board and the dinner was delicious. It was made from all local products however the menu was not traditional Japanese - more like French international style with a Japanese twist.
