Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, Parque Nacional do Iguacu, Brazil - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"The only hotel within Brazil’s 715-square-mile Iguaçú National Park , the 1958-built Das Cataratas is an elaborate Portuguese colonial–style building in delicate pink; lintels, porticos, and balustrades in brilliant white; a spacious pool, and a spa. The 187 rooms—stuffed with heavy wooden furniture, florid Portuguese tilework, and repeated subtropical motifs—feel a bit cramped, and the reception desk appears understaffed. What’s unbeatable, though, is the location: The hotel’s lawns slope down to a splendid lookout over Iguaçú Falls, its sound and fury overpowering. Activities include helicopter and boat tours, and a simple stroll down paths of the park during daytime hours is a privilege afforded only to hotel guests. It’s possible to observe tapirs, corzuela deer, and raccoon-like coatis bedding down for the night, before you return to the poolside open-air restaurant and a feast of grilled tilapia, partridge, and duck ravioli served amid verdant gardens of palm, mango, and tropical apricot."

9 Rainforest Resorts That Put You Right in the Jungle | Condé Nast Traveler

"Belmond’s Hotel Das Cataratas is the only accommodation within the bounds of Iguazú National Park, home to the impressive Iguazú Falls. This pink hotel with 187 rooms has a picture perfect view of the falls, but the surrounding rainforest and its lush wildlife are not to be overlooked. This is a place to get submerged in orchids, serenaded by toucans, and pampered by Belmond, a brand known for its attention to luxury details. An experience exclusive to guests that should not be missed is the sunrise hike through the jungle to the falls." - Ali Wunderman

This was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had! The place is gorgeous, the location is perfect, and the service was incredible. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff made us feel special, welcome, and took care of everything we needed. The concierge handled all our excursions and made everything so easy. The restaurants were amazing and we always left feeling satisfied. If I had to complain, it’s that they don’t seem to have more stuff with their awesome logo. But hey, if you’re planning to visit the falls, this is the only place to stay. Oh, and Edgar and Andre were amazing guides! They both had so much knowledge and information about the park.

We'd had a wonderful stay at this hotel a couple of years ago, but this time was even better. The service was consistently remarkable, employees often anticipating what we might need without our asking for it. Great food, reasonably priced (except for wines). This hotel is perhaps the most expensive we've ever stayed at, yet still a great value given how exceptional it is. And, the location is stunning. Access to the park (trails to waterfalls, etc.) before and after it's open to the public each day was a wonderful perk. This hotel is worth it, and then some!

We had a wonderful day at Iguaçu Falls, both the Argentine and Brazilian sides. Both should be visited, and one of the highlights was staying within the park on the Brazilian side at Hotel das Cataratas!||Built into the albeit high nightly cost is exclusive access to the falls at sunrise and sunset, outside of the park as usual hours. Different from the Argentine side, on the Brazilian side, you have full access to the trails after hours. There are a few additional included amenities that others have mentioned, such as free coffee and cachaça tasting experiences, guided sunrise hike, breakfast, and havaiana flip flops. ||A particular highlight of our stay was Douglas at the Front Desk. We were visiting for my parents 43rd anniversary, and he made particular efforts to make it a very special stay for them. He has such a warm smile and welcoming demeanor, and we will definitely look for him the next time we come! Perhaps by then, the hotel will have him leading a Brazilian martial arts experience!

This was, without a doubt, the most luxurious hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. The staff went above and beyond at every turn — warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. The property itself is immaculate and absolutely stunning, with every detail thoughtfully designed. A truly unforgettable stay. I can’t wait to return.

The location is excellent, with the park, allowing you to access the Falls before the park opens. That experience is amazing avoiding the crowds.||||The hotel has an old world colonial feel, excellent restaurants and a great pool. Service is very friendly, though at times a little slow at breakfast.||||It is expensive but I would not have wanted to stay anywhere else; the location and atmosphere make it worth it.

A very good hotel. We stayed in a very generous "colonial style" room, which was enormous and had an enclosed terrace with AC. The staff were good and eventually managed to solve an ongoing issue with wifi access. The food in the restaurant by the pool was great. We had a fantastic sunset drink at the top of the tower, an expensive thing to do as it is hired for your group only, but a memorable place to watch the sun go down over the falls

Staying at Hotel das Cataratas was honestly one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. The location is unbeatable—right inside Iguaçu National Park, with the falls just steps away. Being able to explore them early in the morning or after the park closes, without the crowds, felt magical. The hotel itself is stunning. It has this charming old-world style with Portuguese-inspired touches—hand-painted tiles, rich wood furniture, and beautiful gardens. Everything is so polished and thoughtfully designed, it feels luxurious without being over-the-top. What really made the stay unforgettable, though, was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind and attentive. From the front desk to the restaurant servers, you could tell they truly cared about the guest experience. Every little detail was taken care of, often before we even had to ask. The food was fantastic too—breakfast at Ipê Grill had tons of options (all delicious), and dinner at Itaipu was equally impressive. All in all, Hotel das Cataratas is the perfect mix of natural beauty, classic charm, and exceptional service. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
