Restaurant Anne & Matthieu Omont - Hôtel de France

"Treat yourself to a gourmet interlude in this establishment on the village high street. Chef, Matthieu Omont crafts masterful, boldly creative cuisine, to be enjoyed in a spruce modern setting. A champion of Bourbonnais produce, he also works with top-drawer seafood: fillet of whiting in a crust of cèpes, langoustine cream and risotto of Vernusse pleurote mushrooms, followed by a rum-flavoured raisin pannacotta, finely diced granny smith apples, a pear sorbet and a Piattelli-flavoured emulsion. Comfortable rooms, ideal for an overnight stay." - Michelin Inspector

The food is exceptionally well prepared, very tasty and a pleasure to the eye. In my opinion it is just shy of a Michelin Star. |The service is very thoughtful and ensures a satisfactory customer experience.|We had the Gourmand Menu with accompanying wines. The wines were a perfect match.

Hotel de France is more a restaurant with rooms than a hotel. That said, the rooms are comfortable, clean, well decorated and quiet. They are, however, quite small. The restaurant is a different story. We had an excellent meal there, beautifully cooked and presented. The homemade paté en croute was excellent and accompanied by delicious pickled vegetables. I have never had Guinea fowl so tender and tasty. The restaurant is worth a trip and the rooms are adequate to sleep off the meal!

This hotel was a nights stopover after a long day travelling back from Switzerland. It was just off the motorway, and though our room was simple, it was clean, quiet and comfy. However the star of it all is the dining room and food. Our supper was quite fabulous ( menu de terroir) with all the trimmings and a bottle of locally produced regional wine. Breakfast I feet we didn’t do justice to as we had to leave early ( and we’re still a bit full) but the pastries were delicious, the cheeses and jams and yoghurts, eggs juice and cakes on offer were equally enticing. The dining room is charming as is the lady who owns the hotel. Would return.

Nice hotel in typically french atmopshere. Very nice restaurant with very good price/quality (bib gourmand). |We were asked to book two rooms for our family with three young children (two of them still sleep in accessory babybeds). However, one room would have sufficed for this one night stay as we initially requested. The general management assistant didn't show much comprehension and was not very kind overall. From the two rooms (situated in another building than the main hotel/restaurant) one was very bright and spacious. However the floors were as thin as paper. Although the manager ensured we were alone in that building (encouraging us to keep our room doors open to keep an eye on our children), much passage and noise occurred in the hallways and room above us at 1 am in the morning, waking us all up. We would also encourage the hotel to install air conditioning in these rooms as it was quite hot during the night (of this exceptionally hot summer).

If you have never been here before then you have missed out on one of our regions not so well kept secrets 😊 the layout is wonderful, the buisness is a family affair and they are wonderful. Did I mention the food? Honestly I would rather not, only because I like going there and telling everyone how wonderful the food and service is will make it more difficult to go whenever I want. You will be so impressed with the menu you will want to go all the time, it is tasty, innovative and looks so amazing, go on, give it a go, it is an amazing experience 👍 thank you guys, you never disappoint. Sorry I have no photo but I ate it all, I will try to remember to take some next time...

We stayed a night on a journey through France in early November. The room was excellent, clean, spacious and warm with a very modern bathroom. The food in the restaurant was amazing and great value. Breakfast was also excellent. Service was really good and we would recommend this hotel to everyone.

excellent stop just off A71||The food is local and outstanding. We menu de terroir is 36 Euros: amuse bouche; turbot with courgette and turmeric; baby lamb cooked sous vide then BBQ so outside crisp. The crew brute was outspend: 3 pieces, different flavours.||THEN the "chariot" of cheeses is exceptional.||Bottle of local St Pourcain was delicious: 27 Euro.|| If was in London:||add a zero||would have at least one star||We have stopped before and is consistently good. The rooms are NOT "5 star" but ||are clean and everything works.||We take our labradoodle ( say hello to Billy the Boxer who is resident).||Is big field as part of the hotel with a herb garden and this "works" for dogs.||||Only France has restaurant with rooms, like this!
