"In addition to a prime location in Metz’s cultural district, the Hôtel de la Cathédrale features a charming mix of antique furnishings and modern conveniences. Some of the rooms in this 17th-century town-house-turned-hotel have cathedral-facing views, but even those that don’t still offer guests a historic feel in the form of vintage furniture, exposed beams, and heirloom carpets. Soak up the charm, then head out to explore nearby sites like St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Musée de la Cour d’Or, and more."

Only downside: Since it’s a heritage hotel, there are no elevators. Pros: Really good buffet breakfast Excellent location right in front of Metz Cathedral Lots of great restaurants nearby Super quiet. We had a really good sleep during our stay :)

You can’t beat the location, both opposite to the cathedral and surrounded by a wealth of very good places to eat and drink. This is a lovely little hotel in the traditional French style, meaning that there are quirks aplenty from a centuries old building. And that’s part of the charm. Creaky floorboards. High ceilings, a winding staircase. You’re going to hear bells. I cannot fathom why some people’s reviews take umbrage with that. Hello! Did you NOTICE the cathedral on your way in? Did you think it was just for show? Sheesh. Ok rant over. More about the hotel. Ample hot water, a very comfy bed. Large airy windows. Helpful and friendly staff. Old school paperweight keys ( I LOVE these! No electronic door cards here!) and from what I saw, a rather nice looking breakfast ( I had pastries from the boulangerie 50 metres to the left) . If you’re at the back of the building, it’s dead quiet. At the front, you’ll get some traffic noise I suspect . I very much enjoyed my stay here and it was just the tranquillity I needed after a long flight and jet lag.

While visiting Christmas markets we were searching for a quaint hotel. Jackpot. The reception area is right inside the door and off the breakfast nook. Upstairs room (no elevator for all of my wife’s bags) |Had to park across the river, as parking in front is for unloading only. |Great view of Cathedral.

Very cute and convenient hotel. Perfect starting point to explore the beautiful town of Metz. If you travel by car you can park inside the garage next to the cathedral for 9 € / day.

The hotel is very clean and the room is a good size. The guy at reception is very friendly and accommodating of all the requests. It is centrally located - very near the Cathedrale, grocery, shops and restaurants. ||Note tha the check-out is very early: 10:30AM. The cleaning lady knocked at 10:15AM and I said I will bring down my bags, but I locked the room because I still have one or two bags inside. When I returned to the room, she opened it and was cleaning up! This is the first time I've encountered this. ||Also, there is no elevator, and beware if you have a heavy luggage.

This is really a backpacker hotel. Great location, and cheap. But it’s zero frills. No concierge, no lift, no tea coffee making facilities, no water. Rooms basic but ok. If you want a cheap option it’s ok but it’s not a luxury stay

This hotel sits right in front of Metz Cathedral, amazing view from the front seating outside. Our room was fabulous and large, spacious, good shower with decent pressure, air con, old beams exposed but everything at an angle on the old floors as there is a tilt throughout. The staff were very nice, helpful throughout stay. The hotel is in a perfect location for food, restaurants, shops and sights, perfect. Its an old hotel not ideal for anyone with mobility issues which is ironic as its perfectly located in being close to everything you will want to see. I would return if I was back in Metz.

We've stayed at this hotel twice now en route to Germany. It's wonderfully located across the road from the cathedral with easy parking. The hotel has a slightly old-fashioned ambience which we love. It's interestingly furnished, very clean, and the staff are helpful. The breakfast is superb. Highly recommended.
