Hotel de Orangerie (Bruges, Flanders) 12 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Bruges may no longer be one of the economic centers of Belgium, but this ancient Flemish city remains one of Europe’s most picturesque destinations, its streets lined with a wealth of carefully preserved historic buildings. One of these architectural treasures, a fifteenth-century convent along the Den Dijver canal, has been converted into a charming traditionally-styled boutique hotel, Hotel de Orangerie." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel de Orangerie is a Canalside Charmer in the Heart of Bruges - Hotels Above Par - Boutique Hotels & Travel

"Housed in a former Carthusian convent dating to 1580 and converted into a boutique property in the 1980s, this canalside Small Luxury Hotels member blends heritage charm with modern comforts. Antiques, period-inspired accents and saturated hues create a nostalgic, intimate vibe across 20 individually designed rooms, which feature soft mood lighting, floral wall coverings, scalloped bedspreads, old writing desks, plush mattresses and silk-lined curtains; contemporary amenities include Wi‑Fi, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, en-suite showers and Hermès toiletries. Mornings are served in an oak-paneled dining room hung with 17th-century portraits and a bespoke light installation, offering a buffet of muesli, yogurt, fresh-baked bread and pastries, Belgian waffles, eggs and bacon (with the option to have a latte and berry-topped Belgian pancakes brought to your suite). The property is especially pleasant for afternoon tea on the terrace beside the boat-lined canal or in the elegant salon—highlighted by scones with clotted cream, artisanal jams, macaroons, pastries and finger sandwiches—and for sipping cocktails by the fireplace when the weather turns. It dresses up for the holidays with twinkling lights, trimmed trees and festive decorations. Practical services include a dining room, bar/lounge, terrace, 24-hour room service, concierge, masseuse, childcare and laundry, and the location on a narrow lane in the Steenstraat Quarter places guests within easy reach of Markt Square, Boniface Bridge, nearby museums and local breweries; rooms start around $150/night."

Google
A really wonderful hotel. Great service, amazing attention to detail. Character but clean and functional. It's located right in the centre of Brugges, but is also quiet and calm, which provides a nice contrast. Breakfast definitely overpriced for one meal, it is good, but the whole of Brugges has overpriced breakfasts!

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Quiet, cosy and homely yet luxurious. Staff were excellent, always available and helpful but discreet. We were travelling with our dog and were allocated the room downstairs overlooking the terrace. This was perfect as there was no passing traffic and the terrace was closed. The room was comfy and spacious. All of the sites were within easy walking distance as was Astrid & Minnewater parks for dog walks. We had a lovely meal at Diligence restaurant with our dog (featured in the film In Bruges) and the hotel also recommended Brasserie Raymond and Julia’s as being dog friendly. Perfect hotel in a lovely spot we hope to return.

Stunning period building, beautifully decorated. Staff are seriously some of the best we've experienced, friendly, super efficient, and knowledgeable. Bedroom probably need a little decorating type repairs, but its an old building, and I know drom experience how difficult it is to keep them looking perfect. A delightful hotel in a very central location. A definite keeper in our list of places we'd revisit.

Google
A wonderful stay here in Bruges. De Orangerie has the perfect central location right on the canal.|The Christmas decorations were so beautiful right throughout the hotel and gave so much festive atmosphere!|We booked the junior suite and weren’t disappointed as it was very spacious although this room doesn’t have a canal view |Would definitely visit again

Google
This place offers excellent customer service! The rooms are very nice and spacious. It’s conveniently located near the town square, where you can find shopping, restaurants, and the Christmas markets if you’re visiting late November, just before the new year.

Google
Lovely, warm and inviting small hotel in. Perfect location to see Bruges. The staff were all very kind and helpful and went out of the way to assist us. Even the night staff prepared an early breakfast for our departure day. I would stay here again. We enjoyed the deluxe heritage room with a little more space and comfort. Thank you to the manager for her good work.

Yelp
Great location right on the canal near the square. If you driving to the hotel it is kind of tough since it is on a one way street and there is no parking on site. You have to get directions from the front desk and park about a quarter mile away. Not too tough but if you miss the turn you will get lost like I did. Our room was on the first floor which I am never a fan of. People could see inside our room from the street in the evening when dark outside and light on inside so make sure to close the shades. Overall, the room is nice but not as nice as I thought it would be. In particular the bed wasn't too comfy and pillows were too soft. They have a cool lounge area with a fireplace to have a drink after dinner or late night. Very cozy. They also serve afternoon tea in the room if you are into it. My wife is so we did it. We came during Christmas so the market was going on which was fun if you want to try different seasonal food/drinks. It is right down the street. They also have a lot of chocolate shops and other souvenir shops nearby. It was a nice stay but for the price it wasn't the experience I thought it would be.

Yelp
This is a review for the afternoon champagne tea. The room was lovely, however a little warm. I was wearing a turtleneck and began wishing I had different attire. I got a hibiscus tea and my husband a black tea. The snacks arrived around the same time the tea did. The tea was in bags, not sure if that's their normal way or a COVID precaution but we are used to seeing loose leaf tea at afternoon tea. Not a problem, just something different. I loved my hibiscus tea and my husband loved his black tea. So that worked out nicely. One minor issue was that my teapot did not have a thing at the top to protect from the heat. So when I went to put the tea bag in the pot i burned my hand (not badly, but still ouch!) i assumed it was safe to grab! Oh well. On to the food - We had 3 different kinds of sandwiches: a salmon, an egg salad, and an avocado one. I'm allergic to shellfish so they gave us the avocado instead of their normal third choice. We got 4 scones - 2 regular and 2 raisin - with clotted cream and homemade jams. We then had an assortment of pastries. Everything I tried was good, I didn't even have room for the sweets! I preferred the raisin scone over the regular (which I never thought I would say). Overall it was a good experiences.

Yelp
I can only confirm the quality of this place. 3 mentions, top notch bed, breakfast of champions, amazing staff. If you had the fact that the hotel is located in the center, you can be sure that you're going to have a amazing moment with them.

Yelp
Take usual Belgian prices for drinks + 1€ and enjoy a nice lounge environnement away from the crowd, some little snacks, top service and a good moment with your friends and family. Open on Sunday.

Yelp
We loved everything about the Hotel de Orangerie! It is an elegant and quaint hotel in every way. We stayed two nights and were in room #106 which was a very large beautiful room with a sitting area. The bed was the largest we had in Europe and the enormous bathroom had a double sink, tub and shower. We enjoyed Champagne at the afternoon High Tea in the exquisite dining room, and possibly the highlight of our stay were the evenings sitting in the elegant living room in front of the fireplace drinking wine and Scotch. The staff is very friendly and we particularly recall Peter and Mano who both speak perfect English who were very kind in helping us with all sorts of things. This is really a great hotel.

Yelp
This hotel is so charming and romantic! It is perfectly situated in the middle of town and is within walking distance if all the attractions in Bruges. The rooms are picturesque and their dining room has a very cozy fireplace. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I will stay here again the next time I'm in town.
